TEE IT UP A NOTE FROM YOUR DIRECTOR OF GOLF
A NOTE FROM YOUR COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
Members,
The summer heat is here so we have installed greens fans on most of our creeping bentgrass greens. The consistent air flow fans provide help to cool the canopy and minimize disease pressure by reducing prolonged leaf wetness after those steamy afternoon summer storms.
I hope this email finds you all doing well. It was a whirlwind of events over the last 2 months including but not limited to Ladies MemberMember, Men’s Senior Interclub Matches, Couples Sundowner’s Events, Folds of Honor 108 Hole Marathon, Spring Team Match Play Championship, Multiple Holes-In-One, and of course the 2021 Men’s Member-Guest. Thank you to everyone who participated in these events and congratulations to the winners! I also want to thank all departments for their hard work ensuring all of the above-listed tournaments went well.
They do a pretty good job of cooling golfers as well! See you on the course! Chris Chapman
Although the running and hosting of golf events slows down a little during July and August, I feel the course will stay busy with members and their guests. With the addition of fans to a majority of the greens, we have been able to see a surprising rebound to the playability of our putting surfaces. We are hopeful this continues and we are able to escape the summer heat without having to limit play. Please remember to remind your guests of our dress code policies. Men need to keep their shirts tucked in throughout the entire round and on the range. Women can be untucked but need to have a collar if the shirt is sleeveless. Thank you all for your cooperation and understanding. Have a great rest of your summer and make sure to stop by and say hello to the Golf Staff! Justin Mathers, PGA
