ROBERTLAMBERT,CLUBMANAGER

We could not have asked for a better spring with cool overnight temperatures and daytime temperatures in the 70s & 80s. Summer has arrived, and we have already been seeing temperatures in the 90s. Fortunately for us, we have the lake and the Water’s Edge pool to cool off in. Our new lifeguards are excited to have the pool open; please come by and say hello to all our new lifeguards. The Snack Shack is also open for the summer season, serving swimmers, golfers, and anyone who would like lunch by the pool or “to go. ”

The golf course is in great shape! Jeff Snyder and his crew have done a phenomenal job getting the course in tremendous playing condition. Golf is not the only activity at The Water’s Edge; we also have tennis and pickleball. Don’t forget about the equestrian center; you can schedule trail rides, riding lessons, or simply pet the horses. Kristina Wray, our equestrian manager, has many activities and camps for children.

The 4th of July is here! We will begin the Independence Day celebration on July 4th with our Firecracker Cookout. Friday, July 5th, we will have Patriotic Kid’s Day with pool games and snacks for the children. Saturday, July 6th, there will be live music from Marie Anderson. Sunday, July 7th, will have brunch from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.

There is a lot of excitement with the “Perfectly Paired” wine club

Our first two tastings and the wine dinners were a lot of fun Everyone seemed to have had a great time I’m looking forward to our next tastings and wine dinner

Chef John Hanek’s return to the Water’s Edge has been very positive I am getting many compliments on our food and special events I would like to thank everyone who attended our Easter

events, Mother’s Day Brunch, and Memorial weekend cookout. Thank you for your continued support. See you at the club soon!

Please remember that outside dining is available upon request. Just let us know, and we ’ ll have your table ready.

Dress code reminder:

Members and guests are expected to wear neat attire appropriate to the various areas of the club. These rules are established to assist our members in understanding the decorum, respectable conduct, and expectations of membership at the Water’s Edge Country Club (please refer to dress code in rules & regulations). COURSEUPDATE

JEFFSNYDER,GOLFCOURSESUPERINTENDENT

The season is in full swing once again Ladies MemberMember and Ladies Member-Guest were both successful event Men’s Member Guest was again a huge success with a full field of 60 teams participating This is what the club is all about, good times with good friends We’re are here for the members to make all events as enjoyable as possible

The course is getting better every day and we ’ re doing all we can to be in a good position heading into the heat of the summer We plan to “deep aerify” the greens following the Member-Guest This loosens up the subsurface for better water movement and to help drive roots We will also be doing some shallow aerifying during the summer to remove thatch and improve water movement Both practices have minimal putting disruptions and go a long way to keeping the greens as healthy as possible The ABW problems we experienced the previous few years is far less severe currently We will never eradicate these bugs, only manage We have, to date, made three applications specifically for this insect, with two scheduled applications remaining We will monitor our threshold and determine if a third application is necessary We have made multiple poanna applications on greens, tees, and fairways This has helped smooth the surfaces out, however it does prolong the seed heads sticking around a bit longer As play increases, please be kind to your fellow golfers Fix yours and one other ball mark With the bent grass we have, replace as much of your divot as possible If full divot is intact, please replace your divot If only a portion remains, replace what you can, sand and smooth Please smooth as much as possible, this helps save our reels and helps with quality of cut Please remind our southern friends, who only sand divots, about our practices We no longer use the enter and exit post Please stay well away from greens and scatter as much as possible The geofencing on the carts is a helpful feature to direct traffic When raking your way out of your bunker shot, please place rake back into bunker as far as possible with shaft perpendicular to the edge with only the handle in the grass (picture) This will save rakes from getting the handles busted

Please remember and remind your guests that walking and private carts are not permitted on the course at any time This is for your and your family’s safety As we get busier during the season, be extra cautious with all the private carts running around The last thing we want is someone getting hurt You’re responsible for any damage they may create if they’re cruising the course Thanks in advance for helping us make The Water’s Edge the best it can be!!

EQUESTRIAN CENTER NEWS

Summer is finally here, and camps are in full swing We still have room in our remaining camps, so if you still have little ones that want to join in on the fun, give us a call Our smaller riding arena is finally finished, and the horses are enjoying the new footing We have covered the gravel with a dirt and sand mix The mixture aids in comfort for the horse's hooves and protects against stone bruises and abrasion to the outer hoof Many other improvements have been made recently The east side of the barn now has gutters, and the west side will soon have gutters as well We have also split pastures to help with pasture management Pasture management is crucial in maintaining healthy soil and grasses The longer the horses have grass, the shorter the time we will spend feeding hay. This also helps the barn financially when cutting costs.

The Equestrian Center recently welcomed a new boarded horse “Tonka.” He is a 27-year-old Missouri Fox Trotter and is owned by Mark and Karen Kloefkorn He is super sweet and incredibly handsome If you have time, come by and say hello!

The barn is open from 8:30am to 3:30pm If you would like to schedule a ride, please call two days ahead of time as we are in our busy season If you need to sign a child up for camp you can also call the barn or email me at barn@watersedgecountryclub com

We look forward to seeing you!!

We’d love to see the beauty that you capture! Feel free to send pictures to my email

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MEMBER

Chris and Jarely Willis are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child Scottie Grace Willis was born on the morning of Memorial Day and Bolivian (Jarely’s native country) Mother’s Day, May 27, 2024, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg by Dr Cherian She weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and measured 21 inches

Why we chose the name Scottie Grace Willis:

We knew we wanted a family name in addition to one highlighting Christ Chris’ middle name is Scott, so Scottie stood out to us from the very beginning. She’ll also always remember who won the 2024 Masters! We chose her middle name because we wanted Scottie to have a constant reminder of the unmerited and undeserved gift of God’s grace
