It’s officially summer! Time to put on your suncream (or possibly a raincoat) and make the most of everything Mid and East Antrim has to offer!
To help you along the way, we’ve put together a short guide bursting with free and lowcost fun and energetic activities for everyone to enjoy!
From live performances and cultural exhibitions to artisan markets and family fun hosted in the natural setting of our borough, there’s plenty of activities to keep you and your littles ones entertained this summer!
Our popular #MEActive Summer Scheme is also back to help the kids burn off that extra pent-up energy, whilst grownups can stay fit with our new state-ofthe-art gyms in our
3 leisure centres: Seven Towers, Ballymena, Amphitheatre, Carrickfergus and Larne Leisure Centre.

The Illyria Outdoor Theatre is set to visit Mid and East Antrim with two performances of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night this summer! Twelfth Night is a fantastic tale of romance, revenge, and mistaken identities with hilarious consequences. It could all end in tears - even if most of them are of laughter! Bring along a picnic basket and rug or low-backed seating. Hot drinks, snacks and ice cream will be available. Early booking is advised as capacity is limited. A one-man show chronicling the life of David Ervine, from the backstreets of East Belfast to Long Kesh prisoner to political negotiations at the White House and Downing Street. From personal family tragedies to helping deliver the Good Friday Agreement.
Flash Harry deliver a rock show that will have the audience rocking in their seats and singing along to anthems of one of the greatest bands in history; featuring classics like ‘Radio Ga Ga’, ‘We Are the Champions’, to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ and everything in between.
The five-piece band have played everywhere from the USA to Dubai as well as major venues
Mid and East Antrim’s MEActive team are providing a number of fun activity camps throughout the borough.
Programmes will be delivered at several venues over the summer including at our 3 Leisure Centres as well as utilising some of our outdoor facilities.

The programme is open to children aged between 6-12 years of age with the opportunity to avail of 2 bookable slots either a morning OR afternoon. Please note spaces are limited. Children may book into both morning and afternoon slots but must be collected by parents and returned after lunch (children will not be supervised between 12 -1pm).
