EasyDefine - easydefine.com EasyDefine allows users to enter in a word list or word bank and instantly receive definitions for those words. This is a great resource for students to use when reading text, either in print or online, find unfamiliar words they may need to define. It also allows users to take a quiz over their words and create flashcards for building vocabulary. Students can download the list of definitions as a Word doc or email the list to themselves. This is another great tool for building vocabulary in any subject. EasyDefine and InstaDefine

SoapBox - gosoapbox.com SoapBox is a great tool for facilitating discussion in a classroom in the form of a backchannel chat. SoapBox is a great controlled space for online discussion and reflection amongst students. It’s great to use during lectures or films when students may need extra assistance in understanding content without stopping instruction. SoapBox also allows students who may not typically participate verbally in class to contribute. As well, SoapBox is a great tool for monitoring understanding of a topic. SoapBox Demo on YouTube

Celly - cel.ly Celly allows students to text their responses to a group as a discussion thread, for announcements, for keeping track of students on field trips, etc. It’s a useful tool for texting in a school setting without using your own minutes or cell phone number. Celly can be used entirely online using short codes for phone numbers and nicknames for cell phones. As well, curation filters block content that is determined to be inappropriate before it is sent to a group. Using Celly is great for polling, tracking, and more! Celly Intro Video
