aMap - amap.org.uk aMap (stands for argument map) allows users to create online debate using their “argument creator” tool. Teachers use a prompt or topic for students to create aMaps. Students can then respond using a pre-set 4-step logic argument . . . “I think” (your position), “Because” (propositions), “As” (supporting arguments), and “Supported By” (supporting evidence). A Web Whiteboard works with any browser and allows you to draw, write, and collaborate in the space provided. You can also share, link, or save your whiteboard and invite other users to collaborate. Vocalyze - vocalyze.com Vocalyze allows users to create playlists of content that can be read back via a computer or web app (on Apple or Android devices). Users can select from a pre-set list of websites, including news outlets like CNN and the New York Times, to create a playlist of stories to be read back by the computer. This is a great tool for students who may prefer to listen to content rather than read it. It’s also a good option for Eyes Past Print readings. Sample CNN Playlist
YouTube Safety Mode - googleblog.blogspot.com/ 2010/02/safety-mode-giving-you-more-control-on.html Turning on YouTube Safety Mode ensures that objectionable content will be blocked via YouTube’s filtering policy. To turn on Safety Mode, go to the bottom of any YouTube page. At the bottom, you should see Safety Mode: Off. Click on Off to turn Safety Mode to the On setting. YouTube will filter videos that contain graphic content from your search results. This is a good option for teachers finding YouTube videos on the fly.
