Cinema Releases

T

he original Essex boy, James Trevor Oliver, has become one of the world’s most well-known chefs and cooking television personalities. Born in Clavering in Essex in 1975, Jamie Oliver grew up with his sister in their parent’s pub, The Cricketers, which they bought when Jamie was small. The pub soon gained notoriety for being a great restaurant and with Jamie’s father Trevor in the kitchen and his mother Sally in front of house, Jamie quickly was drawn into the business. Working with his father in the kitchen after school and at weekends, his fascination and passion with food soon began to grow.

He left school at 16 to attend Westminister Catering College and complete his training to become a chef. After a short stint in France, Jamie returned and gained a place in Antonio Carluccio’s restaurant, Neal’s Yard, as a pastry chef and it was here that he met his longtime friend and mentor Gennaro Contaldo. Moving on from Neal’s Yard Jamie garnered a place as sous chef at the acclaimed River Café in London and it was during his time there that TV execs would notice him. A documentary was being made about Christmas at the River Café on which Jamie was featured and members from the BBC observed his ease and friendly approach on screen. Shortly after, he was offered his own cooking show and The Naked Chef first aired in 1997. The show was such a success that Jamie wrote a book to accompany the series which became a number one best-seller, thus cementing Jamie’s status as a

celebrity chef. Also that year Jamie, still only 22, was asked to cook at Number 10 Downing Street for the then Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Naked Chef ran for three series with three extra Christmas specials and the success led to two further books with food featured from the series.

junk food and start eating healthier. Jamie’s notoriety and passion regarding the issue forced the government to re-think their approach to feeding children at school and they pledged to spend £280 million over three years improving school dinners.

In 2002 Jamie opened Fifteen, a brand new concept in the world of cuisine. The idea behind it was to create one of the finest restaurants in London but also to offer young people who have faced challenging lives, the chance to really make something of themselves and become talented chefs. Each year since its inception, 15 young adults who have had a disadvantaged background, or have a criminal record are given a second chance and are trained at the restaurant. Fifteen is now found in four locations, London, Cornwall, Amsterdam and Melbourne, Australia.

It was after spending much of his time helping to improve the state of the nation’s school dinners that Jamie decided to get back to his first passion – Italian cuisine – and so embarked on a tour of Italy. Jamie spent a number of weeks sleeping, travelling, cooking and eating in a VW campervan and his travels were filmed for Channel 4. A book entitled Jamie’s Italy accompanied the series, his sixth so far, which went straight to number one and sold more copies in the week before Christmas than any non-fiction book before it.

While opening Fifteen, Jamie was filmed for a five part documentary series which showed him training the 15 youths who would be offered a job at the restaurant if they completed the course. This documentary was picked up for a second series in the following year with Return to Jamie’s Kitchen as well as a spin off Jamie’s Kitchen Australia.

It was after filming Jamie’s Kitchen that he was recognised for his work and was awarded an MBE for his contribution to the hospitality industry, something which he took very seriously. Jamie’s career has never faltered and it could be said that the reason behind that is because of the work he did in 2005 with school children with the campaign Feed Me Better - he wanted children to stop eating

During 2008 and 2009 Jamie teamed up with other high profile celebrity chefs including Hugh FearnleyWhittingstall and filmed the documentaries Jamie’s Fowl Dinners and Jamie Saves Our Bacon. In Fowl Dinners, Jamie backed Hugh’s fight against battery farmed chickens while in Saves Our Bacon Jamie looked into the state of pig farming in the UK and the EU. After campaigning for better conditions for the animals that find their way onto our plates, Jamie turned his attention back to the population and his first mission was to change the town of Rotherham into the culinary capital of the United Kingdom (a tall order if ever there was one). He spent time with many of the town’s inhabitants teaching them how to cook fresh fish and only use fresh ingredients establishing a healthy eating 9

lifestyle. A ministry of food was set up by Jamie in the town centre providing advice, information and cooking lessons for Rotherham’s residents. This ministry proved to be such a success that two further ministries were opened in Bradford and Leeds and many other town councils putting together funding to open more. Not content with trying to help the residents of the UK, Jamie headed to Huntingdon, West Virginia, in the United States which was statistically one of the unhealthiest towns in the US. He filmed two series while in the US entitled Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution – the first was centred around Huntingdon and was received well by both the town’s residents and the viewers, but the second was a different story. Jamie headed to Los Angeles for the second series and decided to turn his attention to school dinners in the US as his UK campaign had gone so well. His crusade to change their school dinners was met with much resistance and he was ultimately barred from filming in any Los Angeles public school.

now has 34 restaurants all over the UK as well as a location in Dubai and another in Sydney! During 2013 he plans to open another in Australia, one in Russia and one in Singapore as well as two more in the UK.

Needless to say Jamie’s career has gone from strength to strength and his passion and motivation is clearly apparent but he couldn’t have done it without the love of his parents who helped him find a love of food and his ever patient wife Jules and four children. Jules and the children Poppy Honey Rosie Oliver, Daisy Boo Pamela Oliver, Petal Blossom Rainbow Oliver and Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver have featured in many of his programmes over the years and continue to support him in both his charity work and his work in the kitchen.

In recent years Jamie has re-focused his attention on cooking and producing television shows to help the public in their own kitchens. Jamie at Home, Jamie’s Fish Supper, Jamie Cooks Summer, Jamie’s Family Christmas and Jamie’s Great Britain were all shows in which he got back to doing what he does best – creating exciting, easy recipes for the British public to follow. However, many of these shows were one off specials and Jamie wanted to make a show where the public could, essentially, cook along with him. Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals was his first foray into daytime television and saw him creating dishes that utilised everyday food and enabled viewers to cook a whole meal in 30 minutes. A book accompanied the series and became Jamie’s best-selling book to date and the fastest selling book of all time in the UK. Two years later in 2012, Jamie embarked on another series – this time it was 15 Minute Meals with another book to accompany it. Aside from starring on television and the work that he puts in to The Fifteen Foundation, Jamie has also opened many restaurants over the last few years. Jamie’s Italian first opened in Oxford in 2008 but he 11

prevalence doesn’t make it any less scary. Around 1% of the population are thought to have the allergy which is the commonest cause of food allergy deaths. It’s getting more common, too. Cases of peanut allergy tripled in the first decade of the century.

Tapioca The much hated milk-based dessert that some of us grew up forcing down (which bears an uncanny resemblance to milky frogspawn) is made from the root of the cassava plant. And as it turns out, we had good reason to hate tapioca, even though we didn’t know it. Prepared incorrectly the cassava plant can produce a deadly dose of cyanide. It’s fair to say our tapioca was always prepared correctly, in that it didn’t kill us. But that didn’t make it nice.

Hot Dogs We know they put some dodgy stuff in processed meat these days but can hot dogs really be up there with fugu in the deadly food stakes? According to the American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) they can. A couple of years ago the organisation classified them as a choking hazard. Yep, the shape of hot dogs make them potentially lethal to small children. Nearly a fifth of food12

Chocolate Chocolate is lovely but contains a chemical compound called theobromine, which would be poisonous if we didn’t process it so well. The only danger most of us have from chocolate is eating too much and getting fat. That’s not the case with pets though, who can’t process theobromine nearly so well (proving, surely, that evolution designed people to eat chocolate). Chocolate can kill pets, and dogs in particular (cats rarely eat it, but many dogs will eat anything). As little as 10 ounces/285 grams of dark chocolate - and even less if it’s baker’s chocolate - can be lethal. So for Rover’s birthday treat this year stick to a bone.

Rhubarb Rhubarb can be a bit tart if you don’t add enough sugar to the pie mix, but deadly? We’re afraid so. Luckily it’s not the stalks, which we more commonly eat, but the leaves, which we tend to discard. Various authorities advise steering well clear of the leaves, which contain poisonous toxins whether cooked or raw.

Ackee Fruit Ackee is a delicious Jamaican fruit but if you find yourself down that way don’t go picking it off the tree and scoffing it down willy-nilly. It might just kill you.

Peanuts We’ve all heard of peanut allergy - we may even have it. But its

Unripe ackee is packed with a poison called hypoglycin, and eating it causes the selfexplanatory Jamaican Vomiting

Sickness, which can in rare cases lead to coma and even death. Even when the ackee are ripe avoid the toxic black seeds like the plague and stick to the yellow bit around them. Or maybe have an apple?

Greens We’re always being told to eat more cabbage, lettuce, spinach and kale, which are universally recognised as some of the healthiest foods around. So what are they doing in this list? Well, the fact is, leafy greens are also responsible for more than their fair share of food poisoning outbreaks, including Norovirus

and E.coli. An American study published in January found that leafy greens caused more cases than any other type of food, including poultry and fish. About one in five illnesses were linked to leafy green vegetables.

kidney failure, which can be deadly if not treated promptly. The only safeguard against it is to eat the frog at the right time. It’s said that toxin levels are at their lowest, and the frog safest to consume, after the third rain of the year.

Frogs

So there are 10 foods that can be deadly, or at least highly dangerous. Of course, chips and bacon butties can be deadly too - they just kill much more slowly. Best to eat them all properly prepared, and in moderation.

Frogs are eaten around the world, but this illegal Namibian delicacy (the giant bullfrog is a protected species) comes with a serious health warning. The giant bullfrog is pretty much packed with toxins and Namibians eat the whole thing, give or take a bone or two. The toxins can lead to

Odd yet effective ways of

earning cash Traditional professions include jobs such as accountant, teacher, doctor or bus driver. However, in an ever changing job market there are also some very strange and unusual professions. Indeed, you will not be able to believe that some of the following jobs actually exist. Here are some odd yet effective ways of earning some doe.

Doll doctor

There are a number of professionals who dedicate themselves to restoring and repairing dolls. Indeed, the Doll Doctor’s Association in the United States lists more than 150 “doll hospitals” where you can send your doll to be fixed if it has lost an arm or an eye. These professionals are skilled at repairing both antique and modern dolls.

Human bed warmer

For those who are constantly travelling there is nothing better than a nice warm bed at the end of the day. Several hotels across the world employ bed warmers who will warm your bed moments before you want to go to sleep.

Dog food taster

For most people, the thought of having to eat dog food would make them feel sick. However, there are actually a group of professionals who are responsible for checking the taste of man’s best friend’s food. They test all of the dishes that are brought out by their dog food company to measure certain characteristics such as consistency, taste, and texture.

Bad breath tester

Chewing gum companies employ bad breath testers in a bid to beat their rivals in a very competitive market. The tester is tasked with smelling the breath of men and women after they have eaten food, such as onion, garlic or fish, which leaves an unpleasant smell. They rate the smell from 1 to 9 depending on its potency. They then test the volunteer’s breath again after they have consumed some chewing gum and note down a second rating.

Bedtime story reader

If you yearn for the days when you would nod off whist being read a bedtime story, then you should head to London. One chain of hotels in the capital has employed a bedtime story reader for its guests. The employee comes to your room and reads to you until you are ready to go off to the land of dreams.

16

Coconut inspector

You might think that this job would involve examining the flavour and texture of coconuts before they are sold as food. However, professionals who dedicate themselves to this task actually inspect palm trees in coastal areas to monitor the maturity of coconuts in order to prevent them from falling on people and cars.

Dice inspector

These professionals are often hired by casinos around the world to check that the dice they are using at their tables meet specified requirements. The dice inspector will examine the angles and weight of each die and check that it has the correct number of pips. They also verify that it can be thrown without any problems.

Serviette sniffer

Firms which sell serviettes aim to provide a product that is odourless. For this reason, they employ people to smell their serviettes before they are sent to customers. The sniffer gives an assessment of the serviette and if any smells are found the company will make adjustments to its production process.

Believe it or not, there are professionals who study the characteristics of snow. They are responsible for collecting snow crystals around the world to determine the effects of pollution in places where the soil remains covered for most of the year.

HAS THE INTERNET RUINED YOUR LIFE? It’s up there with the internal combustion engine and gunpowder in terms of inventions that have changed the way we live, but just like these two examples the internet is not without its downsides. Yes, it has allowed us to access more information than we could possibly use in our lifetime; it has enabled us to meet and communicate with people all over the world; and it has passed the reigns of control from publishers, producers and editors to us the people. But it also has a dark side and it can be a royal pain in the arse.

CAMERA TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIAL MEDIA HAVE EXPOSED YOU FOR THE IDIOT YOU ARE The big kahuna of internet negatives is the constant exhibition of photos and videos from your social life. The chances of anyone other than the photographer ever seeing those stupid photos of you prancing around with a tea towel on your head used to be miniscule – now they are there for the whole world to see. Many people now have dual social media pages as a result – one with an altered name for their friends and all the photos and imbecilities, and another for their family and colleagues. Consider doing this if the internet has ruined your life.

20

EVERYONE KNOWS THE VALUE OF EVERYTHING Bargains are scarce in a world where, at the click of a mouse button, you can see exactly how much things are selling for on eBay. Even country to country prices are very similar for most global brand goods. Even at antiques fairs and the lowly car boot sale, sellers and buyers alike have more than likely done their homework and won’t budge for a second from the latest “Buy it Now” price.

NAKED BODIES ARE LESS THRILLING AND MYSTERIOUS Mainly, though certainly not exclusively, for men, the internet has provided a veritable tsunami of pornography since its inception. Weak, or simply over-curious, men can spend hours a day gaping at the saucy pixels dancing around in cyber space. Other, more pitiable types, have made real the very modern disease of pornography addiction. You may well be among them.

YOU DON’T READ ANY MORE Not really anyway. You read snippets of news from the mobile versions of internet news sites and just browse the internet when on a bus or train for extended periods. Most people used to carry newspapers or books for this kind of gap in the day. Now we just go cyber shopping, watch videos of cats making funny faces or chat inanely with friends as they do the same.

YOUR CD COLLECTION HAS BEEN RENDERED WORTHLESS All those hundreds, even thousands, of pounds you spent on that CD collection is now a towering shrine to technological misadventure. “Nobody’s going to come up with anything better than the CD,” we all thought. Although we can rip the music from CDs onto our devices, few do. Most can’t be bothered and the rest simply can’t. We’re just playing ball and buying (or stealing) all our favourites all over again, or using programmes like Spotify or Deezer.

YOU’RE NOW A COMPLETE HYPOCHONDRIAC

You used to bite the bullet, go with your instinct or maybe a personal recommendation and buy your new TV in Dixons down the road. Now, every TV in existence has to have its stats cross-checked with every other via the internet. If it doesn’t have at least four stars on Amazon, forget about it. But one review often seems to contradict the next and we’re drawn into a maze of reviews and stats that leaves us more confused and less knowledgeable than when we started.

Most of the things the internet created were meant to save time, but a lot of them do the opposite. Take emails – when you get into the office there’s always a big list of them, each of them requiring feedback. You end up having email conversations with 15 different people when 15 phone calls would save much more time and effort. Then there’s the Twitter and Facebook updates and you leave the office without having even checked on that shirt you were bidding on eBay.

Got a little pain in your left side? Run it through Google and the millions of internet health sites that appear will have you down with everything from a splinter to leprosy. You may have been a bit of a worrier before, but the internet has now given credence to even your wildest fears. Do yourself a favour and visit your GP before you start typing in your symptoms.

They say money is the root of all evil. With the illicit trade in drugs raking in an estimated £200 billion a year and accounting for almost 1% of world GDP – the connection between making money and “evil” isn’t hard to make. Cocaine is 74 per cent cheaper than it was 30 years ago, prompting common consensus among policy think tanks and security forces to conclude so called “war”on drugs has pretty much failed to make a dent in the drug trade. There are certain “boom” towns when it comes to the illegal trade in drugs, not to mention the murder rates, human trafficking and crime that often go hand-in-hand.

2 Glasgow, UK

When it comes to drug consumption, Britain tops the poll of European countries. A report by the European Union’s drug agency found that class A drug abuse in Britain was the highest among any other European country and the European Monitoring Centre for Drug and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) found that 9.3% of people aged 16-59 have taken an illegal drug in Scotland.

3 Moscow, Russia

Russia and western Europe import over half the world’s heroin supply. Russia has an estimated 1.8 million heroin users and an ever growing HIV problem due to addicts sharing needles.

4 USA

Typically drug consumption and drug production can be divided along the same lines as developed and developing countries. Leading the world in drug consumption is the US market for Mexican cartels. Consumption in North America has shrunk in recent years which some analysts argue has led to more violence between cartels fighting over a shrinking market.

5 Marrakesh, Morocco

Cannabis is the world’s most widely used drug and Morocco is one of the biggest producers. Its geographical position also lends itself well to the European market, with drugs being smuggled from Northern Africa through Spain and Italy. The cannabis trade is however dying down as more and more cannabis is being home grown. Vietnamese gangs run cannabis factories in the UK and control about 75% of the market. 22

1 Amsterdam, Holland

When it comes to “drug tourism” Holland has the market cornered. The government have recently reclassified some drugs and closed down “coffee shops” in an attempt to move away from the drug tourism it attracts. But the city’s historical connection to the trade has meant suppliers have called the place home and used drug money to operate human trafficking rings.

6 Bogotá, Colombia

Although coca production has actually dropped by an estimated 28% and there are on-going peace talks between the government and FARC, Colombia remains the world’s largest exporter of cocaine. While production decreases in one country, it rises in another. A recent report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) showed coca production jumped by 38% in Peru and 112% in Bolivia.

7 Ciudad Juarez, Mexico

Violent crime and homicide are everyday occurrences in the US-Mexico border towns, where cartels make an estimated £9bn a year on the drugs trade. The authorities regularly discover complex networks of underground tunnels that the cartels use to ship drugs to the US market and bring back weapons which fuel the never ending war.

8 Burma

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime listed Burma as the world’s second largest opium producer, accounting for 25% of production. The UN found that the farm land used for growing poppies had risen by 17% in 2012. The boom in production is directly related to the huge increase in heroin use in Asia.

9 Kabul, Afghanistan

The war-torn country produces 90% of the world’s heroin which adds up to about 6,900 metric tons. Opium is a huge cash crop for poor farmers and US troops have largely turned a blind eye to opium production in an effort to win hearts and minds and concentrate on the “war on terror.” Even if they did decide to burn opium fields, the UN estimates that enough opium has been stored to ensure supply for the next 25 years. 23

Hyaluronic Acid How Beneficial is

as part of your daily skin care regimen?

Hyaluronic Acid (Hyaluronic Acid or Sodium Hyaluronate) has many benefits and is one of the most interesting ingredients in skin care. Naturally found in the body, hyaluronic acid secures moisture and creates fullness — youthful skin naturally abounds with hyaluronic acid. In skin care, you can find hyaluronic acid creams, serums, injectables (aka: Restylane), and HA supplements. Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan (polysaccharides that are an important component of connective tissue). HA is distributed widely throughout connective, neural, and epithelial tissue. It is of the chief components of the extra-cellular matrix (the tissue that provides structural support to cells). In short, HA supports many important areas of the body, including beauty and skin.

30

Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid and Skin Care Hyaluronic Acid is also a major component of skin, where it is involved in tissue repair. Topically applied, hyaluronic acid forms an air permeable layer and penetrates into the dermis, thus boosting the elasticity and hydration of the skin. The protective barrier on the skin locks in moisture, which gives the skin a youthful appearance. As we age, skin moisture can drop significantly, which creates aging like effects on skin appearance as it loses its elasticity. Thus hyaluronic acid can play a critical role in skin health with its unique ability to hold in moisture (1000 ml of water per gram of hyaluronic acid). Hyaluronic acid is also a “smart nutrient” as it can adjust its moisture absorption rate based on the humidity— relative to the season and the climate. Many skin care brands are now starting to add Hyaluronic Acid to their products as the effects can be astounding.

How Much Hyaluronic Acid Is In The Body? Interestingly, the average human has approximately 15 grams of hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid) in the body, one-third of which is “turned over” (degraded and synthesized) every day.

Here are a few products containing the ingredient:

Functions of Hyaluronic Acid As one of the chief components of the extra-cellular matrix, Hyaluronan is an important component of articular cartilage, where it is present as a coat around each cell (chondrocyte). Hyaluronan is responsible, in part, for the resilience of cartilage (its resistance to compression). Thus, its presence is important for soft tissue function, such as in joint support or in fighting osteoarthritis.

TIPS FROM LNEA DIRECTA ON DRIVING TO YOUR HOLIDAY DESTINATION There is no doubt that the high number of people travelling in summer creates one of the biggest problems of the year as far as road safety is concerned. The large influx of vehicles, high temperatures and long journeys, make the summer period one of the key moments in the struggle to keep down the number of accidents on our roads. As a result, Línea Directa Aseguradora, one of the Spanish companies most committed to road safety, has drawn up a short list of recommendations for all drivers, in an attempt to minimise the dangers involved and enable people to enjoy their holidays and keep safe: 1. Prepare the journey in advance: do not improvise or take the route you will follow for granted. Calculate your route, stops and rest periods carefully before setting off, especially if it is the first time you have travelled to your chosen destination. 2. Check your vehicle: check tyre pressure, water and oil levels and even the air conditioning system, especially if it hasn’t been recharged for several years. 3. Have a rest before setting off: not only is it recommended to have a rest every 2 hours, but also before the journey, especially if you are going to get up early in the morning. It is essential to allow enough time for carrying out small tasks such as preparing your luggage. 4. A car is not a removal van: do not take too many suitcases, and above all, be careful with how you arrange them in the vehicle. A loose object inside a car can be a lethal weapon in a crash. 5. Take turns driving: if the possibility exists and the journey is long, do not think twice about sharing the driving with another person. This reduces the chances of being distracted and is an effective measure against boredom and fatigue. 6. Take on enough fluids: in some parts of Spain, temperatures in summer can exceed 40 degrees centigrade, so it is extremely important to drink water or soft drinks continuously, even if you are not thirsty. In addition, if you are going to stop to eat something, avoid any type of drink which contains alcohol.

younger Simply look

There is no doubt that when it comes to bolstering a fragile sense of self-esteem; if you think you look good then you feel better about yourself, and more confident too, which can’t be a bad thing. It stands to reason that, if you want to bring about any changes in the way you look, you’ll have to make a few changes to your way of life, which require sustained effort. Your sleeping patterns, emotional balance, eating habits, exercise regime (or lack thereof ), skin-care routine and stress levels – all of this has an impact on the face you present to the rest of the world.

Here are a view simple yet effective ways of shaving off some years. • Wear tinted moisturiser

If your complexion looks even in tone, you appear younger. That’s not just supposition – it’s been proved by research (by Dr Bernhard Fink, an expert in evolutionary psychology at the University of Gottingen).

• Drink plenty of water

Particularly easy to do at this time of year when it is so much easier to reach for a cool refreshing drink than a hot cup of tea. It won’t hydrate your skin directly, but it will improve the way your insides work and good gut health is soon reflected in glowing skin.

• Get a great haircut

Updating your hairstyle can be enough to make you look years younger and a fringe hides a multitude of frown lines. Cosmetic surgeons will often send would-be clients off for a makeover; frequently, a haircut will give them enough confidence to skip the scalpel.

• Wear the right perfume

One study last year showed that observers who sniffed a particular perfume while judging the ages of women, judged them several years younger. Bonkers? Maybe. But worth a try. 32

• Spend time doing things that make you happy

You’ll feel better and look better as a result. And in the same vein, try to smile a bit more. It’s nicer for everyone else and it tricks the body into changing its mood. It also uses fewer muscles than frowning.

• Whiten your teeth

You don’t have to spend £700 at the dentist; get your hygienist to give you a full scale and polish, then choose a decent kit off the internet.

• Cut down on alcohol

Not only does drink have a dehydrating effect on the body, but it dilates the capillaries, which leads to a rosy flush on the face (not in a good way) and has a general inflammatory effect on the body that encourages ageing.

• Have your eyebrows shaped

Having your eyebrows professionally shaped – and possibly tinted – is one of those minor beauty revelations that makes you wonder how you ever got by without it before. A defined brow opens and lifts the eye area in a way that’s little short of wondrous.

• Learn to curl your eyelashes

Give them a squeeze with an eyelash curler, which looks like a giant pair of nail scissors with a clamp on the end, before you apply mascara and see how it opens up your eyes.

• Wear blusher

Get blusher right – the right colour, in the right place – and your face will look instantly fresher and livelier. The easiest way to start is with a sheer gel blusher – simpler to use and to spread thinly. Smile, pat onto the apples of your cheeks, and blend up and out from there towards the hairline. And remember that less is more. 33

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital. Catherine was thought to be nearly a week overdue when she was admitted at around 6am on 22nd with her hubby Prince William by her side. The baby’s arrival last month triggered frenetic coverage from global media who had camped for days on the doorstep of the London hospital where he was born, as well as celebratory gun salutes and the illumination of London landmarks in blue. “It’s a special time,” said the 31-year-old Duchess of Cambridge, who was wearing a cornflower-blue dress with her brunette hair loose. “I think any new parent would know what this feeling feels like.” The duke, also 31, told reporters that “he’s got her looks, thankfully” as Kate playfully demurred, then added: “He’s got a good pair of lungs on him, that’s for sure”. The Royals were apparently, “delighted to announce” their son’s name, adding that their beautiful baby and third-in-line to the throne will be known as “His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.”

Peter Andre and girlfriend Emily MacDonagh expecting a baby together Peter Andre and his girlfriend Emily MacDonagh are expecting their first child together. Pete is already dad to son Junior, eight, and daughter Princess, six, and still remains close to his former stepson Harvey, 11. The addition of his new baby with Emily will see his family grow, which is just fine with the Mysterious Girl singer who wants a big family. Pete is apparently thrilled as he has always wanted a big family. This time, however, Pete wants to keep this part of his personal life private. 34

Details of how devastated Lea Michele discovered Cory Monteith’s death have emerged

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have spent just over £500,000 on four gold-plated toilets for their new home.

Lea and Cory had been dating for more than a year and Lea Michele was having a girls’ night in with friends when she got the devastating call that boyfriend Cory Monteith was dead.

The couple have been staying with Kim’s mum KRIS JENNER while work on their new mansion in LA’s Bel Air is finished. Now that they have a completion date they have started buying furniture and fittings.

Co-star and girlfriend of the troubled Glee star Lea, 26, started “freaking out” according to pals and fled into hiding.

Kanye has ordered six specialedition beds from the company that supplies London’s Savoy Hotel, costing £114,000 each.

Lea had just got back from Mexico with Cory and was in a great mood according to pals.

They are also kitting out their kitchen with almost £500,000 of Electrolux gear and a Swarovskiencrusted fridge freezer.

Cory died in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13 after accidentally taking a toxic overdose of heroin and alcohol. Friends said Lea fled from the house, terrifying she would be stalked by paparazzi after the news broke of Cory’s death.

A source said: “They expect the interior to cost twice as much as the property. They’re spending more than a million on a security system alone.”

Lea apparently attempted to take care of Cory when he was living in America and working in Hollywood but he is said to have struggled with his demons when he returned to his home country of Canada. She also reportedly organised the intervention staged by her fellow Glee cast members and the show’s crew when they encouraged Cory to enter rehab earlier this year.

Nicole Appleton and Liam Gallagher Defiant Nicole Appleton laughed off her marriage woes on her holiday without hubby Liam Gallagher, as she joked around with her family at Disney World. The former All Saints singer who was in Florida with sisters Lee and Natalie, kept up a brave face over his alleged cheating by taking their son Gene, 12, to meet Mickey Mouse. It was only when she and her sisters held a summit over a meal at their Orlando hotel that the mask dropped. The mum, 38, was still not wearing the wedding ring given to her five years ago by ex-Oasis frontman Liam, 40. A witness said as the rocker remained banished from the holiday amid claims he fathered a lovechild in New York. Revelations that US journalist Liza Ghorbani, 39, had filed a paternity suit emerged while Liam was with his band Beady Eye in Spain. She is demanding that he pays for the upkeep of her seven-month-old daughter Gemma. Fed-up Liam is said to have told pals he is “sick and tired” of fighting to make his marriage work. 35
