Local hockey fans are primed for a celebration, with the Halifax Mooseheads teetering on the edge of franchise history. The Herd returns to the Metro Centre Friday night to play the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Game 5 of the President Cup final — one win away from the first championship in franchise history. “I’m going to be in the arena watching us win,” said Jennifer Webster, the first fan to get her tickets Thursday. “There’s no fear (of us not winning).” It’s the third time the Mooseheads have made it to the QMJHL final, coming within a game of winning 10 years ago before a Game 7 loss to the Hull Olympiques. Two years later, Sidney
Crosby hoisted the cup at the Metro Centre after the Rimouski Oceanique’s demoralizing sweep. However, Mooseheads play-by-play caller John Moore said the third time could be the charm. “I’ve never seen a team as deep, as strong and as skilled as this team is,” Moore said Thursday. “In their 19-year history, I’ve never seen a team this strong.” Despite the frenzy of Moose fever, Moore said he’s not taking a victory for granted. “I’ve been involved with too many teams that have been up 3-1 in the series,” he said. “A lot of fans might

Paris quits cabinet after ‘heated exchange’ details of what happened, adding he would first discuss the matter with police. Paris said he momentarily lost his temper. “Things reached a point where I lost my composure for a few brief seconds,” he said. “I regret I lost my cool for a few seconds.” Colwell, the Liberal member who represents Preston, said what happened wasn’t proper behaviour. Later in the evening, he de-
clined further comment, saying he is consulting a lawyer. Paris said discussions in the legislature during the day concerning the black riding of Preston irritated him. Just before midnight on Thursday, Premier Darrell Dexter issued a release saying he accepted Paris resignation as minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs and Economic and Rural Development Minister. The front of the brick building was taped off near a man-lift, its crane reaching to the roof. The manager of the Hanias Properties building could not be reached for comment. A woman who lived in the building said she heard voices below her window and leaned out to see the man’s body on the ground. “It’s scary,” she said. The second Open City event will be a lot like the first, except that there’s more of everything. The annual festival of exploration takes place on Saturday, with more than 130 local restaurants, retailers, museums and other businesses offering incentives to lure HRM residents out for a day of wandering around the peninsula. “It’s about exploring, about whatever exploring means to you, whether it means buying something new or eating some-

At the Grand Parade, participants can take in some tunes and help paint a troupe of picnic tables. “They’ll be dispersed throughout the downtown all summer long, travelling en masse, so there’ll be pop-up picnic areas for the whole summer,” said Stevens. Large crowds came out for the first Open City event, and Stevens said that’s helped boost interest this year. “There’s a lot of people saying, ‘It was my favourite day in Halifax in all of last year,’” he said. “Last year there was no preconceived notion of what it was going to be.”

An independent audit into dubious housing allowance claims by three senators did little Thursday to silence allegations of improper spending and cover-up hanging over Canada’s much-maligned upper chamber. Liberal Senate leader James Cowan said he wanted the committee looking into the controversy to ask police to investigate the housing claims by Conservative Senator Mike Duffy, former Conservative Sen. Patrick Brazeau and Liberal Mac Harb. “Personally, I think that’s the appropriate thing to do,” Cowan said. Liberals and New Democrats in the House of Commons also clamoured for a police investigation even as Prime Minister Stephen Harper effectively declared the matter closed — satisfied, evidently, with the audit’s conclusions that the rules governing housing claims should be clarified and the money repaid. The integrity of the audit process was also called into question Thursday amid suspicions that Duffy was tipped off about irregularities in his expense claims by the chairman of the parliamentary committee that was investi.

I think it’s the worst censorship since the Catholic Church stopped Galileo using his telescope.” Psilocybin and other mind-altering drugs are becoming popular solutions to a broad spectrum of mental health issues. Norwegian academics recently found that LSD improved misuse rates in 59 per cent of alcoholics. “LSD seems to help people see their problems in a different light, to give new insights into their problems ... and to make a strong resolution to discontinue their drinking,” said psychologist Pål Johansen.

Gangsterism and chaos. Did Laval mayor take an offer he couldn’t refuse? A corruption-related storm ripped through the Montreal area on Thursday, wreaking devastation on once-sturdy political machines inside and outside the city. The party that won Montreal’s last municipal election was dissolved. And in the big suburb next door, the mayor who dominated the last six elections was slapped with gangsterism charges. It all occurred in just over an hour. The succession of events underscored how the political order in Montreal has been overturned during a corruption inquiry, which is just now shifting its focus toward provincial politics. War on drugs. One-child China. Director alleged to have 7 kids Authorities are investigating whether one of China’s top film directors fathered seven children in violation of the country’s strict family-planning laws, state media and a local official said Thursday. Reports circulated online this week that Zhang Yimou, director of The Flowers of War starring Christian Bale and also known as the architect of the opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympics, has seven children from his two marriages and from relationships with two other women. “We are trying to confirm the online rumours,” said a woman at the general office of Wuxi city’s family planning committee, a department under the municipal government. The woman, who declined to identify herself — as is common amongst Chinese officials — said she couldn’t reveal any other information until authorities had finished investigating. Zhang, 61, reportedly could face a fine of up to 160 million yuan ($26 million), said the People’s Daily newspaper, the Communist Party mouthpiece. People caught breaking China’s family planning policy must pay a “social compensation fee” based on their annual income. Users of China’s lively social media lined up to criticize Zhang and drew distinctions between how the elite and ordinary people are treated. “However many children a person has is their basic right, but in a twisted society, basic rights have become a privilege,” Beijing resident Liu Weiling, who works for a media company, wrote on Sina Weibo. to see him behind rope lines set back from the exhibition, the prince quizzed officials of HALO Trust, a charity that focuses on mine clearance and had staged the display of photos, maps and minedetection equipment. The devastation caused by landmines was a cause taken up by the prince’s late mother, Princess Diana, and Harry has carried on that interest as well as his own charitable work for wounded veterans. McCain, who was shot down over North Vietnam and tortured as a captive, said he cracked to the prince that “he was probably a much better pilot than I was.” As for the prince’s reputation for cutting loose on occa-
sion, McCain joked that the dinner at the buttoned-up British Embassy later was sure to be a “wild and raucous affair.” On Friday, the prince visits Arlington National Cemetery and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center before flying to Colorado for the 2013 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs. More than 200 wounded servicemen and women from the U.S. and Britain will participate. Harry will also visit parts of New Jersey afflicted by Superstorm Sandy and stop for events in New York City before capping his visit by playing in the Sentebale Polo Cup match in Greenwich, Conn., on Wednesday. the associated press

These days, going to a museum in London, Ont., can feel like entering a whole new dimension. Museum London has gone 3D — turning to the latest craze in printing to recreate historical artifacts. Right now, the work’s being doing on, quite literally, a miniature scale. Select objects in the museum’s London Works: Labouring in the Forest City exhibit have been replicated

on a 3D printer and turned into miniatures of the real exhibit pieces. When school groups come for tours, they’re able to touch the pieces. “It’s a way to engage with the students that come to visit so they can actually handle
these 3D replicas. Whereas, they couldn’t handle something that was behind glass,” said Steve Mavers, the museum’s education curator. While Museum London has only started testing the waters, others have already taken the 3D printing plunge.
The Smithsonian, for example, made at least one fullsize rendition of its Thomas Jefferson bust, allowing other museums to borrow the work for displays, Mavers said. The possibilities — ranging from completely recreating artifacts once considered
lost to repairing those that have been damaged — are endless, the curator said. Devon Elliott, a Western University PhD candidate in history, is well aware of the potential 3D printing has on the future. “Historians have often worked under conditions of scarcity, but digital technologies are making things more accessible,” he said.

Reel Guys
RICHARD CROUSE AND MARK BRESLIN
Pushing up Daisy The Great Gatsby. There’s plenty of eye candy here, but the real razzle-dazzle is in Carey Mulligan’s portrayal of Daisy Richard: Mark, Baz Luhrmann may be the perfect person to retell Jay Gatsby’s Roaring Twenties’ story. Equally at home with razzle-dazzle and substance, he captures the tone of the Jazz Age while still allowing the story’s deeper resonance to shine through the gloss. It’s eye candy, pure and simple, and yet the sense of doom that hangs over the beautiful and damned characters in the story is palpable. Without it this would be
just another story about pretty people doing pretty-people things. Mark: Richard, I approached this movie with some trepidation. Luhrmann is such an overwhelming director, and Fitzgerald’s book can be as delicate as chiffon. And for the first half hour, it seemed that the story would be swallowed up in crazed, hallucinogenic fantasias of swirling 3D visuals, not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s amazing to watch. But then the movie settled down and captured the beautiful and tragic romance between Gatsby and Daisy, and became profoundly moving. The actors all play their parts well, but I have to say the film belongs to Carey Mulligan. You, Richard?
RC: Absolutely. Daisy is one of Fitzgerald’s “bright precious things,” a hothouse flower and Mulligan has a face capable of simultaneously showing great happiness and profound sadness, a duality that serves her character well. She effortlessly tosses off shallow lines like, “Your life is adorable,” while digging deep to convey Daisy’s conflicted nature. MB: She’s exactly as I imagined her when I first read the novel over 40 years ago. I wasn’t as sure about DiCaprio at first, but he grew on me. I loved the way Luhrmann took vintage movies of New York in the ’20s and colourized them, and then converted them to 3D. There’s a scene that takes place on a rooftop patio over-
looking Times Square that completely changed the way I imagined Manhattan of the past. But what did you think of the anachronistic score? Did you have an issue with it? RC: It’s probably my least favourite part of the film. I get what Luhrmann was trying to do, but here, unlike Moulin Rouge! it doesn’t really work. The Jazz Age Amy Winehouse song is OK, but the Jay-Z tune feels more like an attempt to sell soundtracks than serve the story. MB: The film is sooooo superior to the 1974 Robert Redford/ Mia Farrow version that I will forgive him almost anything. People will come for the visuals, but they’ll leave touched by the story. And the clothes.
SCENE
Set in the Jazz Age — early 1920s in New York. Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) is working as a stockbroker in the city while living in a wealthy suburban enclave. His neighbour is the enigmatic Jay Gatsby (Leonardo Di Caprio), whose ornate mansion plays host to wild weekend parties. Turns out he isn’t the aristocrat he claims to be, but the son of dirt-poor farmers who made a fortune as a bootlegger. Nick soon learns his cousin Daisy (Carey Mulligan) was Gatsby’s first love. Gatsby and Daisy try to pick up where they left off, but Gatsby proves unable to control the future as adeptly as he created his past.

Daddy’s going to hang today Q&A. Simon Pegg, returning in Star Trek Into Darkness, tells us what his three-yearold daughter thinks he does all day Romina McGuinness
scene@metronews.ca
People who get Star Wars and Star Trek confused — does that infuriate you? You can’t expect everyone to know. It’s like when you follow a certain religion and you think everyone celebrates Christmas. They don’t! On to Star Trek Into Darkness. The scene where the spaceship is going all over the place and you and Chris Pine are jumping around and hanging off railings. Is that look on your face genuine terror? It was more pain. I had to hang from Chris’ hand and the harness could only go from my one hip so I was

slightly skewed. But no, it was all acting. My three-year-old daughter was on set that day and she assumed that’s what my job was. Hanging. She was like, ‘Are you going to hang today daddy?’” Scotty doesn’t manage to hold on to the bar and is saved by a much stronger Captain Kirk. Ever been like, man, I really wish I had Chris’ body?
You should feel his arms. They’re like oak. We’d go to the gym together and it was amazing how the female contingent would start gravitating towards him. Nobody paid me any attention. But no, I was pretty buff at the time! You guys should have had that chalk you wear in gym class to stop your hands from slipping. It’s not that easy to get on a
falling starship… You and Nick Frost have appeared in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and other films together. If you could, what part would you give him in Star Trek? I’d love him to play Harry Mudd from the original ’66 series. But I wouldn’t necessarily want him to be in it and I don’t think he would want to either. It’s not like we have to
come as a package. You don’t have a love interest in this movie. What about my little guy? That’s my love interest. The little fellow. We’re a unit. We’re married. Your little alien assistant? But you don’t even get to kiss it. I don’t kiss it. But if you could, who would you share a kiss with, Alice Eve or Zoe Saldana? That’s not a choice any man could make. They’re both as gorgeous as each other. They come in and everyone is just like WOW. Your character, Scotty, is Scottish. What’s your favourite night cap? And whom would you share it with? Sparkling water, I don’t drink. Probably my wife. Not a fellow actor? Have you met everyone in Hollywood that you’ve wanted to meet, as a fan? I don’t think you could ever meet everybody. L.A. is like one of those safari parks where you can walk amongst the animals. You see like, Jeff Goldblum in the supermarket.

Blackbird Director. Jason Buxton Stars. Connor Jessup, Alexia Fast
••••• Writer-director Jason Buxton’s Blackbird feels like a typical drama about a troubled teen before upping the ante a third of the way through. Sean is a gothy-teen, shunned by the cool kids at school despite a budding romance with Deanna, the hockey captain’s girlfriend. Yet things go sideways when the murder tale Sean posts online sparks outrage in the community and he’s thrown in jail for plotting a school shooting. The film’s strength comes from Buxton’s ability to keep viewers guessing as the system closes in around Sean.
The Company You Keep
Still Mine
Director. Robert Redford Stars. Robert Redford, Nick Nolte, Stanley Tucci
•••• • Robert Redford does triple duty as actor, producer and director on the story of Jim Grant, an ex-member of a radical activist group, in hiding since a robbery resulted in the death of a security guard 30 years ago. When one of his former associates (Susan Sarandon) turns herself in, Grant goes on the lam, pursued by the FBI and a dogged reporter (Shia LaBeouf). An all-star cast (Nick Nolte, Terrence Howard and Julie Christie) fuels this political thriller. Trouble is, there aren’t many thrills. richard crouse
Peeples Director. Tina Gordon Chism Stars. Craig Robinson, Kerry Washington
••••• For all the everyman charm of star Craig Robinson, Peeples is still as derivative as comedies get. Basically a twist on Meet the Parents (and many other films pirating the same premise), Peeples spotlights an undistinguished wannabe-therapist trying to win acceptance from his girlfriend’s pompous papa. Hyped-up hijinks may humour some moviegoers.

When one man’s job is a producer’s treasure

Think your small business has what it takes to be the next reality TV star? Shows featuring small company owners, such as A&E’s Duck Dynasty and History’s Pawn Stars, are hits, turning nearly unknown small businesses into household names. The shows give them exposure that most could never afford to pay for through advertising or public relations. So you want your own show? Here’s a guide. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Sometimes they find you Production companies are always on the lookout for businesses to film. That’s how Pawn Stars came about. Brent Montgomery, the owner of production company Leftfield Pictures, was at a bachelor party in Las Vegas. The limousine he was in passed by a pawn shop and he came up with the idea of a reality show. Montgomery told his staff to find a family-owned pawn shop in Las Vegas. The producers found Rick Harrison of Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, who had already been pitching a reality show idea to other producers. Harrison went with Leftfield Pictures, which sold the show to History.
Pitch a producer Many production companies accept pitches for reality shows. If a production company likes the idea, they will be able to bring it to networks. Do an online search for reality TV producers and call to see if they accept pitches. The Idea Factory, which has produced reality shows for Spike and Discovery, accepts pitches on the company’s website (tiftv.com). Darryl Silver, the owner of the Idea Factory, says that he usually first meets people who pitch shows through webcam chats. Silver usually asks what major events they expect to happen in the next year that could be filmed.
No failing businesses Your business must be in good financial standing. No production company wants to start filming a show that centres around a business and then have it close down during filming. Production companies will check to make sure your business is on solid footing.

They love families Family-owned businesses are favoured by producers because it adds “an extra level of story,” says Silver. Audiences love seeing people and relationships on TV that they can relate to. Duck Dynasty, which features a family-owned duck-call business, is the most watched documentary-style reality series on TV right now, according to Nielsen, which provides information and insight into what consumers watch and buy.

Goodbye Town, hello platinum single Dave Haywood. After major successes on previous discs, the country ballad band is claiming to be less forced on Golden If Lady Antebellum has yet to have another hit to match the spectacular success of its smouldering 2010 ballad Need You Now — a six-times-platinum single that elicited five Grammy Awards, including song and record of the year — it hasn’t necessarily been for lack of trying. To hear Haywood tell it, Lady Antebellum has never been less forced than on their new album, Golden, out today, after Need You Now and 2011’s Grammywinning Own the Night explored sweeping, meticulously orchestrated country ballads. This is the first Lady Antebellum record that doesn’t feature orchestral strings. Why did you make that
An escape plan
“Growing up in a small town, sometimes you’re kind of stuck in that town. And it’s like, man, what am I going to do to get out of here?” Dave Haywood Talking about the song Goodbye Town
Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood, left, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott, have had to get used to their recent fame. Donn Jones/the associated press
choice? We’ve kind of done some more serious songs on the last few records and always done strings and these big arrangements, big overdubs. And yeah, this one we said, “You know what? Let’s get in,
play these dang songs, and get out.” We really just didn’t spend much time adding a bunch of stuff. It’s not like we’re in there adding like thousands of guitars all over and adding all these extra things. So for us it’s all about
the songs — finding a great song and finding a great arrangement that fits that song. Goodbye Town is one of the more emotional songs on the record. What’s it about? Growing up in a small town,
sometimes you’re kind of stuck in that town. And it’s like, man, what am I going to do to get out of here? Whether or not you had a relationship there, places you go remind you of somebody and it’s like: I gotta just get the heck out of this place. I think that was something we all reached down and felt like we’ve experienced. Musically I think it really conveys that. There’s this kind of energy throughout the song where it’s just, man, I want to get the hell out of here. I think that was one of our favourites to include on the record. The band’s profile has obviously grown a lot over the years. How have you handled that evolution as a group? It’s definitely been a whirl-
wind. When we started, it all happened organically. We started off just writing together because we loved writing music and we still do to this day. I think a lot of people from the outside looking in say: “Didn’t y’all just get put together and you got thrown out there, and didn’t the record label pick all these songs?” That’s really not the case here at all. We wrote all these songs and we said, let’s try writing them for fun, let’s just get a crazy name and do this for fun and then we’ll go back to our other day jobs. It’ll be a side project. Having that mentality from day one, I feel we’ve always kept and tried to preserve how authentic we began, and we don’t want to lose sight of that. The Associated Press

Church leaders not impressed with Bowie’s bar-fly version of Christ
The 33-year-old bassist for Fall Out Boy (and the ex of one Ashlee Simpson) opens up in a new issue of Rolling Stone about how he sunk into a pill addiction after Fall Out Boy went on hiatus in 2009. The rocker says he abused Xanax and Klonopin, which are primarily used to treat anxiety. “I was probably physically and mentally addicted,” Wentz reveals. “It started from insomnia and anxiety from flying, then it spiralled. He continues, “I felt like a loser already. I’d basically gone from being the guy in Fall Out Boy to being the guy, who, like, hangs out all day. I didn’t see how I’d ever come out on the other side.”
Things only got worse when Wentz split from Simpson. “I was scared of everything. I thought there were always people listening to me,” he says. “Like, I had my house searched for bugs. It was crazy.” Wentz says he is clean now, thanks to his son Bronx, 4, and extensive work with a therapist.

Cocktails made easy LIQUID ASSETS
LIFE
Peter Rockwell @therealwineguy liquidassets@eastlink.ca
It’s never too early to get your ice cubes in a row when it comes to summertime cocktails. Though popping the cork on a bottle of wine or twisting-off the cap of a chilled beer may be easier, no drink makes your back deck feel more like the Caribbean than a mixed drink. While some are complicated, most cocktails are a lot easier to make than you might think. Warm weather favourites like the Bloody Caesar (invented in Canada), the Margarita and the Cosmopolitan are no-brainers. I love to get my Mojito on this time of year. The Cuban classic, which combines white rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water, mint leaves and a bit of muddling, is one of the most refreshing drinks in the mixology handbook. Bacardi — Cuba’s hometown hero — is the standard white rum of choice for a Mojito. I kneel to liquid tradition, but find the new wave of white spiced rums make an even better impression in the glass. Captain Morgan Silver Spiced Rum ($24.49 to $29.99) mixes white spices, vanilla and a subtle sweetness that works wonders with the Mojito’s minty personality. PRICES REFLECT THE

QMJHL final
Moose staying the course with league title in sight

Mooseheads weigh in on title prospects QMJHL final. Herd hoping to reward its faithful following with a championship at the Metro Centre on Friday
SPORTS
The Halifax Mooseheads can win their first QMJHL title on Friday, but Dominique Ducharme isn’t thinking that far ahead. The Herd’s bench boss knows full well what the expectation will be as his squad prepares to face Baie-Comeau at home with a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven President Cup series. “That’s the result, and you can’t control the result,” Ducharme said on Thursday. “You can influence the result by taking care of the process. That’s the way we’re approaching it.” Coming off a controversial rough and tumble two games in Baie-Comeau, in which three Drakkar players along with the Mooseheads’ Trey Lewis were suspended, Game 5 is expected to be another physical affair. Ducharme has remained cool throughout the ordeal. “They’re taking care of their business and we’re taking care of ours. We’re going to be ready to battle. We’re going to be winning the battles, wining the races, we’re going to be finishing our checks, that’s it that’s what we’re going to do.” He knows the Drakkar are ready to empty the tank. We know they’re going to come in here with their backs against the wall and play with urgency, but we will be playing with urgency too.” “We’ll be playing our best game, and that’s it.”
SPORTS
ANDREW RANKIN

Stephen MacAulay would be the first to admit he’s had a blessed junior-hockey career. In his fifth and final year of junior eligibility, the Mooseheads veteran forward has established himself as a winner. The two President Cups and the Memorial Cup he won with Saint John speak for themselves. So does the fact that wherever he goes, teammates and fans gravitate toward the St. Louis Blues draft pick. It’s understandable, then, that the Cole Harbour native wasn’t thinking about himself immediately after being asked about the possibility of winning another QMJHL title at home on Friday. That, he admitted, would be an added blessing. “It would be incredible,” MacAulay said. “This franchise has been around a lot longer than Saint John when we won up there. You see all the loyal fans here and the Maritimes, and it would mean a lot to win if for them.” Up 3-1 in their best-of seven President Cup series against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, the Mooseheads appear poised to deliver.

true glimpse into what accomplishing that goal would mean to the players. Mooseheads forward Nathan Mackinnon offered a glimpse after the Herd’s 7-4 win in Baie-Comeau on Wednesday. “We’re going to have 11,000 strong really cheering us on,” he said. ‘We want nothing more than a President Cup. I think it’s a blessing in disguise that we lost Game 3, so we can win it in front of our fans.”

“It’s all about winning that game. It’s like a Game 7.” Toronto forward Clarke MacArthur. After taking an overtime punch to the gut on Wednesday night, the Leafs headed to Boston on Thursday, trailing the Boston Bruins 3-1 in their firstround series. Game 5 goes Friday.
NHL playoffs. Injuries cripple Canadiens as Senators streak through to Round 2 The Ottawa Senators are moving on to the second round of the NHL playoffs. Craig Anderson made 33 saves and Cory Conacher scored twice on a shaky Peter Budaj as the Senators downed the Montreal Canadiens 6-1 on Thursday night. Ottawa won the best-ofseven Eastern Conference quarter-final 4-1 and will move on to the second round for the first time since 2007, when they reached the Stanley Cup final only to fall to the Anaheim Ducks. The victory gives Ottawa time to rest up and heal bruises before the conference semifinals begin next week. It started with the flu, and turned into a hospital stay. There were terrible headaches and weakness. Just walking was a chore. All at the worst time for Luol Deng and the Chicago Bulls. The All-Star forward made an appearance at Chicago’s practice facility on Thursday, but it was clear from his drawn appearance and measured tone that he might not be able to make it back in time to play in the Bulls’ post-season series against the Miami Heat. Deng joined his teammates for the film session covering Wednesday night’s 115-78 loss that evened the series heading into Game 3 in Chicago on Friday night. He also got on the court and took a few jumpers, but that was all he could handle. The Associated Press

Horoscopes
Aries
March 21 - April 20 The planets suggest you will find yourself at odds with the accepted way of doing things today. Even if it causes you financial hardship, you will fight on the side of what you believe is right. Good for you.
Taurus
April 21 - May 21 Today’s solar eclipse in your birth sign means you can’t put off what needs to be done. What you start over the next 24 hours will pay dividends for the next 24 months!
Gemini
May 22 - June 21 You will need to make some difficult decisions today. The important thing is that once you have decided on a certain course of action, you see it through to the end.
Cancer
June 22 - July 23 There are so many opportunities in your life right now that you may find it hard to decide what to do first. But decide you must, and quickly. The last thing you need now is to be trapped by indecision.
Leo
July 24 - Aug. 23 Today’s solar eclipse means a new start in your career or vocation is not just possible but desirable too. If your present position does not satisfy you, now is the time for a change.
Virgo
Aug. 24 - Sept. 23 Your life will change for the better over the next few days. What matters even more though is that your attitude is changing: You no longer attach so much importance to things of a material nature. Good.
Libra
Sept. 24 - Oct. 23 Most things change slowly but occasionally you get the chance to change things quickly and today’s eclipse makes this the ideal time to make a quantum leap. Change your outlook and your world.
Scorpio
Oct. 24 - Nov. 22 If a relationship has been going through a tough time of late then today’s eclipse will bring matters to a head. A new start is possible but you both have got to want it.
Sagittarius
Nov. 23 - Dec. 21 Cosmic activity in the work and wellbeing area of your chart suggests you are thinking of changing your daily routine, maybe in quite dramatic ways. And why not? Change is good.
Capricorn
Dec. 22 - Jan. 20 You should be having the time of your life right now and if that is not the case, it can only be because you are letting the past hold you back. Today’s eclipse urges you to be bold.
Aquarius
Jan. 21 - Feb. 19 Do not, repeat not, interfere in other people’s private affairs today — and don’t let other people interfere in your private matters either. You may think you know best, and maybe you do, but it won’t change a thing.
Pisces
Feb. 20 - March 20 Life has been a bit predictable of late but as from today things should get a lot more interesting. If you have not yet made any social plans for the next few days then make them now. SALLY BROMPTON
