alentine’s Day is celebrated as the day to recognize love. In 2025, consider practicing this sentiment every day. As part of your self-care routine, take a moment before bed to reflect on and write down one thing you loved about that day. Use your laptop, tablet, phone, or even paper to capture these thoughts.
It could be something obvious—like having dinner with family, getting a work promotion, or reconnecting with an old friend. On challenging days, when negativity looms large—a flat tire, a computer crash, or a difficult boss—dig deeper to recall something positive. These are the moments when ending your day with gratitude matters the most. You’ll likely sleep better as a result.
After a few weeks of practicing love and positive living, you may find yourself focusing on happiness, letting go of negativity, and improving your mental well-being. In turn, this outlook can benefit your family and overall quality of life. Start small and watch positivity transform your days!
Read the selected quotes to serve as powerful reminders of the transformative effects of gratitude, positivity, and mindfulness.
• “Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” – Anonymous
• “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” – Dalai Lama
• “Start each day with a positive thought and a grateful heart.” – Roy T. Bennett
• “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey
• “Keep your face always toward the sunshine—and shadows will fall behind you.” – Walt Whitman
• “Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.” – Marcus Aurelius
• “A positive mindset brings positive things.” – Philipp Reiter
• “What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.” – Buddha

The LIFESAVING skill every FAMILY needs to know this FEBRUARY
Emergencies happen in the blink of an eye, especially when it comes to your children. Being prepared can mean the difference between life and death. For many, the first instinct is to call 9-1-1. But in the case of sudden cardiac arrest, calling for help alone isn’t enough. Knowing CPR can empower you to be your child’s first lifesaver.
Take 16-year-old Ryder Radecki’s story. During his school basketball practice, Ryder went into sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to quick action, CPR, and an AED, a team of people saved his life. Today, Ryder serves as a national Youth Heart Ambassador for the American Heart Association, using his story to advocate for heart health and the importance of learning CPR.
Ryder’s experience is a powerful reminder: cardiac arrest can strike anyone, anywhere, at any time. Every year, over 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals, including 23,000 among children. For parents, this is especially sobering, as most cardiac arrests occur at home. That’s why it’s so important
to know CPR. While Hands-Only CPR is effective for adults and teens in the first critical moments, performing CPR on children and infants requires breaths in addition to chest compressions.
This February, during American Heart Month, the American Heart Association is encouraging families to join the Nation of Lifesavers™ by learning CPR. Parents can access resources like online CPR courses, CPR Anytime® Training Kits, and local Heartsaver™ certification classes to ensure they’re ready for any emergency.
For families with school-aged children, the American Heart
Association’s Kids Heart Challenge™ and American Heart Challenge™ are fantastic opportunities to introduce lifesaving skills to kids while teaching the importance of heart health. These service-learning, in-school programs empower students to take charge of their health and learn critical skills like Hands-Only CPR.
By completing Finn’s Mission as part of these programs, students not only gain lifesaving knowledge but also have the chance to earn exciting rewards—like tickets to Super Bowl LX.
Visit heart.org/getstarted to find resources and bring Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge to your student’s school so we can empower the next generation of lifesavers.

College costs increase exponentially every year, creating a burden on both the student and the parent. Estimates show that by 2030 the average tuition could double the current rates.
By planning ahead and creating a life insurance strategy that gives you the option to save for college can give you and your child peace of mind. An insurance policy with Las Madrinas de Los Seguros with a tax-free cash value component can be used towards educational expenses.
Some prepaid plans in the market don’t offer a high value return such as the one offered by Life Insurance, that’s why it’s important to start the policy when the child is in his early years, allowing the policy to yield a higher return.
You may have many more questions such as “what happens if my child does not want to go to college?” or “what other uses does the accumulated value have?” and more importantly, “how can I get this College Funding plan?”
We have all the answers, contact us now to learn more.
EXPLORING the WORLD Of STEM With STEMTREE CORAL GABLES
In a world increasingly driven by science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), creating a solid foundation in these subjects has never been more important. That’s where Stemtree of Coral Gables comes in—a unique learning center dedicated to empowering young minds through hands-on, one-on-one instruction in STEM fields. We had the privilege of sitting down with the owner of Stemtree Coral Gables to learn more about their mission, the impact they’ve had on the community, and how they’re shaping the future of education.
A VISION BORN FROM EXPERIENCE
The story of Stemtree begins with its founder, Dr. Abdelghani Bellaachia, known fondly as “Dr. Bell.” With over 25 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Bell’s passion for STEM education is evident in every facet of Stemtree’s programming. Inspired by his academic journey, which includes degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Software Systems, he sought to create a learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in children from kindergarten through high school.
Similarly, Coral Gables franchise owner Ty Gabriel has a deeply personal connection to education. Having grown up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, he remembers the pivotal role his mother played in nurturing his love for math and science. Ty’s career in the military as a naval flight officer and intelligence officer, combined with advanced degrees in physics, biotechnology, and business, underscores his commitment to equipping the next generation with the skills they need to thrive.
WHY STEM MATTERS MORE THAN EVER?
STEM-related careers are growing rapidly, with a 15% annual growth rate according to a 2021 Smart Asset Study. These jobs not only offer excellent salaries but also provide opportunities for innovation and societal impact. By introducing children to STEM early, Stemtree helps them develop critical skills that will serve them throughout their education and professional lives. More than just an academic booster, Stemtree’s programs are designed to be fun and engaging. They balance learning and play to spark a lifelong interest in STEM fields.
CUSTOMIZED LEARNING FOR EVERY CHILD
A standout feature of Stemtree’s approach is its commitment to individualized
learning. Each student undergoes an initial assessment to determine their current level of understanding in various subjects. Based on this evaluation, a customized learning plan is created to address their specific needs. Whether your child is excelling in a subject or struggling to keep up, Stemtree’s tailored curriculum ensures they receive the support they need.
Stemtree’s offerings include:
• Science: Covering biology, earth science, physics, and chemistry.
• Mathematics: Including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and precalculus.
• Coding And Robotics: From beginner coding lessons to advanced mechanical engineering concepts to include specific instruction in Java and Python.
• Electricity And Electronics: Handson activities introducing topics like wave propagation and fiber optics.
This diverse curriculum ensures children not only meet the demands of standardized testing but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
WHAT PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED?
Stemtree’s programs are designed to fit seamlessly into busy family schedules.
Options include:
1. After-School Programs (in school): Stemtree partners with local PTAs to bring their programs directly to elementary schools, providing all necessary materials like laptops and robotics kits.
2. After-School On-Site Programs (onsite): Held at the Coral Gables center, these sessions allow students to engage in hands-on STEM activities after school
or on Saturdays. Homeschoolers can also benefit from daytime sessions.
3. Camps: Stemtree’s camps are offered suring winter break and in the summer to provide one-on-one and group instruction tailored to each student’s interests and abilities, fostering confidence and curiosity.
4. Field Trips: The center is a hub for interactive learning, offering mini science days with hands-on experiments. Collaborations with venues like the Bonnet House and Frost Science Center enhance the educational experience.Stemtree provides a great option for students to enhance their learning during their school day.
BUILDING MORE THAN KNOWLEDGE: A FOCUS ON LIFE SKILLS
Stemtree’s programs cultivate essential life skills such as teamwork, problemsolving, and resilience. By engaging in activities that challenge their creativity, students learn how to approach complex problems with confidence.
For example, the robotics curriculum includes over 1,000 lessons designed to teach mechanical advantage and other engineering concepts. Through trial and error, students develop patience and perseverance while building functioning robots.
A VETERAN’S COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY
As a veteran-owned business, Stemtree of Coral Gables brings a unique perspective to education. Ty Gabriel’s military background instills a focus on discipline, safety, and attention to detail. This is evident in every aspect of Stemtree’s programs, from the use of Personal Protective Equipment during experiments to structured lesson plans.
Ty’s dedication extends beyond the classroom. He is working to make STEM education accessible to all students in MiamiDade County. Collaborations with private transportation providers aim to make field trips affordable for schools across the region. These efforts reflect his belief that every child deserves the opportunity to explore their potential, regardless of their background.
A LEGACY OF LIFELONG LEARNING
For Ty Gabriel, Stemtree is more than a business; it’s a mission. Inspired by his childhood experiences and the legacy of philanthropists like Julius Rosenwald who built the “Rosenwald schools” in the early 1900s, Ty is determined to provide today’s children with the resources he wished he had growing up. From individualized instruction to engaging field trips, Stemtree is shaping the future, one student at a time.

BROWARD COUNTY
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
FNEI: BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE THROUGH THE LOVE OF LEARNING GALA AND THE SUPERINTENDENT’S 5K CHALLENGE
The Foundation for New Education Initiatives (FNEI) continues to make a profound impact on public schools in Miami-Dade County through its unwavering commitment to supporting students and educators. Each year, FNEI hosts two marquee events that bring the community together: the “For the Love of Learning” annual gala and the Superintendent’s 5K Challenge: A Race for Education. These events not only raise essential funds, but they also shine a spotlight on the incredible dedication of Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Superintendent, Dr. Jose L. Dotres and his tireless efforts to uplift public education.
The “For the Love of Learning” Gala is a signature evening of elegance, celebration, and generosity. Held annually, this event brings together business leaders, philanthropists, educators, and community members who share a passion for advancing education. The gala features inspiring speeches, live entertainment, and a fundraising auction, with all proceeds benefiting programs that enhance student
learning experiences. From scholarships to technology upgrades and innovative teaching resources, the funds raised at the gala help bridge gaps in funding and ensure that students have the tools they need to succeed.
Complementing the gala is the Superintendent’s 5K Challenge: A Race for Education, an energetic and family-friendly event that underscores the importance of health, wellness, and community engagement. This annual run/ walk invites participants of all ages to join Superintendent Dotres in raising awareness and funds for Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). The 5K Challenge is not just a race; it’s a celebration of unity, as students, parents, teachers, and community members come together to support a common cause. The event also serves as an opportunity to highlight the district’s commitment to physical fitness and its role in fostering academic
success.
Under the leadership of Superintendent Dotres, these events exemplify the power of collaboration in addressing the needs of M-DCPS. His vision and dedication have inspired countless individuals to take an active role in shaping the future of education in the community.
Through FNEI’s initiatives, the community is reminded that investing in education is investing in the future. By attending the gala, participating in the 5K race, or contributing in other ways, everyone has the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and educators.
INSPIRING AWARENESS, Acceptance, and Community: La Capra Family’s Journey with CARD and TROPICAL NIGHTS
What inspired you to get involved with the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) and its signature event, Tropical Nights?
Our involvement stems from our autism journey with our son, Nico. By sharing our story, we hope to inspire and help other families while expressing our gratitude for the incredible specialists and resources at CARD that have supported us, as well as countless others, along the way.
Tropical Nights is not just an event – it’s a celebration of community, love, and the importance of ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive.
How has being parents influenced your passion for community involvement, especially for organizations like CARD?
As parents, we understand the profound impact that support and connection can have on families. It’s deeply fulfilling to contribute to an organization like CARD, which uplifts families and creates opportunities for those navigating challenges.
What advice would you give to other families looking to make a meaningful impact in their communities?
Start by identifying causes that align deeply with your personal journey and core beliefs. Whether it’s giving of time, resources, or advocacy – the smallest action can create a ripple effect of positive change. It’s important to engage with organizations that resonate with your values, build genuine connections, and that serve as a means to share your own story.
What are your long-term goals for your involvement with CARD and Tropical Nights?
We want to inspire more families to get involved, share their stories, and celebrate this beautiful community together. Autism is not something that anyone should be ashamed of – it’s part of who we are. We hope to inspire awareness, acceptance and inclusion for every family touched by autism.
How do you envision South Florida evolving in its support for the autism and disabilities community?
We envision a future where South Florida becomes a model of inclusivity and resources for individuals with autism and disabilities, with expanded programs, partnerships, and community support.
What does giving back mean to you as a family, and how do you hope to inspire others in Miami?
Giving back means using our resources, time, and voice to make a difference. We hope to inspire others, and the next generation of leaders, by demonstrating how fulfilling it is to contribute to a stronger, more connected and united community.

The “Black Tie and Blue Jeans” Gala is a unique and memorable event that perfectly blends elegance and comfort. Held each spring, this signature fundraising gala brings together community leaders, supporters, and philanthropists for an evening of celebration and giving back. stories of transformation. The funds raised during the gala directly benefit Branches’ programs, ensuring continued support for families striving to break the cycle of poverty and achieve selfsufficiency. This year’s “Black Tie & Blue Jeans” Gala will be on April 26th at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami.
In addition to the gala, Branches hosts several other events throughout the year to engage the community and further its mission. One of their cornerstone events is the “Thanksgiving Meal Delivery,” where hundreds of volunteers come together on Thanksgiving morning to deliver hot meals and holiday cheer to families in need across South Florida. This act of kindness not only feeds those who might otherwise go without but also fosters a sense of unity and compassion within the community.
Branches also organizes its annual “Back to School Bash,” an event designed to equip children with the tools they need for academic success. Students receive backpacks filled with school supplies, while parents have access to resources to help them support their children’s education. The 2025 “Back to School Bash” will be held on August 6th at the University of Miami Newman Alumni Center.
Additionally, the organization’s year-round “1 on 1 Financial Wellness Coaching” =, offer individuals and families practical tools and knowledge to manage their finances, build savings, and achieve financial stability. These coaching sessions are critical in empowering participants to take control of their economic future.
Through these events and programs, Branches continues to create pathways for growth and opportunity. By fostering education, financial empowerment, and community engagement, the organization serves as a pillar of hope and transformation for South Florida.
