2021: Philippines is the last country not back to Faceto-Face Classes

HOW DID WE RESPOND? QUARANTINE

FACE MASKS

VACCINE

Pros & Cons a further analysis of the pros and cons of the

implementation of quarantine in the Philippines and other countries worldwide.

FACTOR A big factor that affects the response is

- The constant switch between

our economy. As we try to keep it alive, we

protocols and quarantine levels leads

risk public health. These are meant to

to the confusion of citizens

balance both, but we humans play a role in this. We are a factor which affects the effectiveness of each and every response. Our conscious choice, awareness, and control help combat 75% of infection.

PROS

Plus Side to the Frequent Change in Protocols

- It balances our economic and public health needs. - Lenient quarantine status aids in the economic recovery of the country. - Businesses were allowed to operate, employees were allowed to report to work, public transportation was available under MECQ.

Underprivileged Citizens - Lenient quarantine gives way to citizens that are not privileged enough to work and stay at home given the pandemic.

Down Side to the Frequent Change in Protocols

- The full effects of lockdown are not felt due to the short periods of time between each lockdown.

Priorities of The Government - Because we are balancing health and our economy and not really prioritizing either, we can’t really feel or see the full effect. - The longer that the government doesn’t find a balance or prioritize either the economy and the general public’s health; the more lives that will be put in harm’s way.

Social Interaction & Education - Due to the government’s decision to put us in lockdown and social distance is that it lessens our social interaction - This lockdown also hinders students from going back to face to face classes, as for the Philippines is the last country that has not yet gone back to physical in person classes.

CONS

WHAT NOW

?

Doing our part in the pandemic

Follow Protocols Since it is every individual’s responsibility to follow health guidelines as it fosters a quality atmosphere wherein we are all doing our part to help keep our community healthy, it is essential for people to follow the COVID-19 protocols – physical distancing, social gathering avoidance, PPE usage, proper hand washing and cough etiquette – set by the government in order to prevent the virus from spreading further.

Get Vaccinated Some people who get COVID-19 can become severely ill, which could result in hospitalization, and some people have ongoing health problems several weeks or even longer after getting infected. Getting vaccinated protects not only yourself but also people around you, especially those who are at high risk of getting infected. COVID-19 vaccines also prevents you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.

Spread Awareness Spreading awareness is very powerful as it educates people about topics such as COVID-19 which are new to them and encourages them to participate in bringing change. Spreading awareness through social media, which is the most convenient medium for disseminating trustworthy and upto-date information and resources, is one method to achieve this.

Practice Solidarity As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact every individual’s daily lives, it is important to practice solidarity. Some ways to achieve this are the following: setting up relief funds, aiding food pantries, supporting local businesses, assisting fundraising events, delivering goods and medicine, and providing support to frontline health workers.
