I recently stumbled across this new bunch of car enthusiasts called Daily Driven Exotics on YouTube. These guys are all about having fun and driving the wheels off their exotic cars. What type of exotic cars you ask? Well some of the best in the world. The meme guy from DDE is Damon Fryer and he drives a Lamborghini Huracan. His friends drive other Lamborghinis, Ferraris, McLaren’s along with Bugattis and Porsches. Rather than them being like most guys who keep these cars in the garage, they are actually out having an absolute blast with them.
these guys doing things with the cars that exceed $200,000 that most people wouldn’t do with their $5,000 cars. They do endless burnouts, donuts and they even drive these cars during the winter months in the snow. Sure they have hurt the cars here and there, but they simply push on and fix them when the need arises. They do a lot of hoonigan type stuff and it really is amusing. And they
have their fair share of run-ins with the law.
If you’re interested in watching some of their antics, go on YouTube and search DDE or Daily Driven Exotics. I guarantee you will be amused with what you see. It’s always a pleasure to see people enjoying their cars. I hope you can learn something from these guys.
You can see these guys attending and participating in many car rallies and car shows alike. They also attend tons of car shows out in California and Canada ,which is where they are from. I have witnessed

his way to certain victory. Of course Dayotas never crossed the finish line at the end of that run because of a questionable driving tactic by his opponent that sent Dayotas and his Coronet somersaulting countless times down the track, coming to rest right side up, but completely and totaled demolished.
It’s amazing how certain occurrences stay permanently burnt into your brain and even years later if that particular occurrence is mentioned, it brings you back to that exact date and time and you instantly get a weird feeling in your stomach and a knot in your throat, pretty much how you felt at that exact moment in time when the original incident happened. And so it was, on October 13, 2012, as I attended the Outlaw 10.50 series at New England Dragway, that I witnessed one of the worst wrecks I had ever seen, involving one of my favorite cars, the 1969 Coronet RT of Jim Dayotas. I remember the sickening feeling in my gut that day as I waited what seemed like hours, but in reality were only a couple minutes, as they finally announced Dayotas was out of the car and alright. He and his buddy Mike Dabuick looked it over really thoroughly and decided it would be the next Outlaw 10.50 Championship car. Just a few days later it was completely torn apart and alongside his friend Donny Lavin, Dayotas began hundreds of hours of body work and chassis modifications.

Dan Christopher scaled the car, Gary Kaye assisted with the transmission components, and countless close friends donated their time, most notably Taylor and Bruni. Of all the friends to provide input, Dayotas credits his wife Mary whose support has never, ever even flickered, especially when they were up until 4am one day trying to build a paint booth at home. By that same evening Donny Lavin had the car dressed in the signature “Dayotas Orange”. From that day forward, after a final assembly, Dayotas was ready for his comeback and his vengeance and did he ever set the Outlaw 10.50 world on fire, moving from 9.50 Super Street to the big time8.50 Wild Street, thanks to a killer combo under the hood. The heart of the diabolical Dart is an Indy Max Wedge block and 572-13 heads designed by Mike Faucher at Quest Racing. Flawless machine work was performed by ABT out of Holliston, MA then the assembly was done by Dayotas himself. Final Tuning was assisted by Mike Faucher and the CHAMP Dennis Gaborialt. The 727 transmission is serviced by Graveson Transmission and helps spin a Strange 9 inch rear end, usually to victory. Since the completion of the project Dayotas has already taken two Outlaw Championships, a Wally, and dozens of wins all over the country. Heading into the 2019 he is in the process of a complete teardown and refresh, which is his yearly chore, to keep everything in perfect working order. A Trip Down Memory Lane

If you’re like me and from the Cranston area of Rhode Island, you remember what it was like on Reservoir Avenue from the beginning of the 1990s to the early 2000’s. This was a car guys dream. The cruising of all of the latest great cars of that era were out in full force. You had Chevrolet’s Iroc-Z, the Pontiac GTA, the Buick Grand National and of course, my favorite, the Foxbody Mustang. The streets were littered with these cars cruising on a Friday and Saturday night. Meeting up across from the Friendly’s in the medical parking lot where there would be hundreds and hundreds of cars and people hanging out having fun. It was like the who is who of the car community. And of course, there was the street racing.

I can remember a lot of people with big egos getting checked. The police back then really didn’t bother us too much. They let us hang out until the wee hours of the night without harassing us... as long as we didn’t do anything stupid. Of course there were the few people that ruin it here and there but for the most part we just had lots of fun.
I really miss those days They molded me into the car guy that I am today. I’m sure some of you guys have your own stories and maybe you’d like to share them with me. When it came down to street racing, it seemed like the Buick Grand National and the Foxbody Mustang were on top. Those Grand Nationals were a formidable opponent on the street. With that turbocharged 6 cylinder motor, they would come out of the hole without spinning the tires. Once they were out of the hole, that turbocharger spooled up and those cars were gone leaving

But the Iroc-Z, with it’s 5.7 tune port injected motor, and the Trans Am also held their own on the streets. I remember a very fast red one that came out and beat a lot of cars but unfortunately, I don’t remember who owned it. The fastest Foxbody Mustangs back then usually had 3.73 rear gears Flowmaster cat back exhaust with an off road H pipe and underdrive pulleys in a deleted air box along with some good driving and sticky tires. They did very well on the street and some of the fastest ones would run high 12

Well people, the Toyota Supra is finally back after a 17-year hiatus. The Toyota Supra was first available in 1978 and ran until 2002. In that amount of time, the Supra has created a huge fanbase and following. The good news is... it’s finally back for 2020. This new platform is a BMW and Toyota collaboration and it is based off the BMW Z4 platform. This Toyota Supra will have a 3.0 turbocharged inline-6 power plant with 335 horsepower and 365 foot pounds of torque. It will allow the car to go from 0 to 60 and 4.1 seconds and achieve a 155 miles per hour top speed that is electronically limited. The base price will be $49,990 and will go up to around $55,000. The first 2020 Toyota Supra just sold at Barrett-Jackson Auction for 2.1 million dollars and is a one of one color combination. That’s a lot of money for a Toyota. This car will also be rear wheel drive which many of us hoped for. I’m sure there will be a huge aftermarket available for this car as soon as it makes its debut at dealerships across the United States. As of right now, there are mixed views. The car from the Toyota purest. Some are happy and some not so happy because of its sharing a platform with the BMW Z4. I guess time will tell and we will see what happens with its following. I am personally a little disappointed with the car as I think it should be a little bit wider and lower but that’s where the aftermarket should come into
play. I also haven’t seen one in person yet so we shall see once I do. How do you think this car will stack up against its American counterparts? I think it should do pretty well as long as the car isn’t too heavy. As of right now, they are predicting a 3400 pound curb weight and a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. By BILL PRATT One of the first questions we ask a customer when they come into the store shopping for a tonneau cover is “How do you use the bed of your truck?” The purpose behind that question is simple – we want to understand whether a hard tonneau or soft tonneau makes sense for them. We ask that question even of customers who come in specifically looking for a hard tonneau. Hard tonneau cover prices typically start at around $400 more than an equivalent soft cover. So our first objective is to make sure the customer is looking at both the right style and price point for what they need the cover to do. Customers who mostly just want weather protection for the bed of their truck and the occasional sports equipment or DIY tools they store there will be well served with a soft cover. It will keep the bed dry (under most conditions and for most trucks, but no cover is completely weatherproof ) and will prevent someone from seeing what’s there or casually reaching in and walking away with your property. The latches are typically inside the tailgate so, if your tailgate locks, your cover cannot be opened from the outside of the bed and most casual thieves won’t risk cutting your cover with no sure prospect of finding something worth taking.

Anyone who shops on-line for tonneau covers will find plenty of options available at prices below $300.00. However, not all tonneau covers are created equally and that’s why we keep at least one entry-level cover on display in the showroom. It’s a good way for customers to see and feel the quality differences. Those differences can be found in the grade of the vinyl, the type and functionality of the latches, and the methods for securing the cover when it needs to stay open while driving. That’s a hard assessment to make when you can’t actually touch or see the cover. The next best thing is to look at the warranty. The higher-quality soft covers will have a lifetime warranty; the lower-quality covers will have much shorter ones. Hard covers in general tend to have shorter warranties so the better covers will have 3-5 year warranties (or longer).

We are half way through the winter season and I have talked with quite a few auto mechanics and auto body shop craftsmen over the past few weeks and they appear to be very busy working on plenty of projects that involve the restoration of classic cars and trucks for their customers. Preparations are being made to take vehicles that are right now in not-so-great shape and transform them into pristine vehicles for the upcoming classic car and truck show season starting in the spring of 2019. These vehicles needing professional help will soon be showcasing at plenty of area classic auto shows and cruise nights across the region once we get out of this humdrum season of cold air, gray skies and
nobody wants to leave their warm homes and go anywhere winter time in New England. Honestly, I can’t think of anyone reading this article that can’t wait for this winter season to come to a quick end and welcome in spring with open arms and open windows.
I give these auto mechanics and auto body shop specialists a lot of credit. They deal with plenty of customers and vehicle fixes that would leave most running for the nearest six pack and call it a day as soon as possible. But, they mostly put in longs hours in their shops trying to make sure that their customers leave their businesses completely satisfied with their results. A happy customer leads to more happy referrals and even more happy customers down the road. Many of our advertisers are made up of these types of automotive businesses and shops and deserve a lot of credit for their quality of work. 1969 Untouched Road Runner By JED GREEKE

The 100% Original, 2nd owner Road Runner build continues! We have had the chance to break it down and look it over.
Interior was moldy after years of storage but over all in good condition. The interior will be replaced, using any components that can be repurposed and upgrading the rest, keeping a stock appearance, looking as good as when it came off the production floor! The body was sent off to be blasted and after it showed some years of sitting but in overall very solid condition with the normal trouble areas needing some attention. The rear quarters underwent some repair work as well as the truck pan being replaced. The rear window needed some patch work at the base, a common area for water to pool and cause rust. As of this time all rust repairs have been completed, the body has been DP’d and primed, blocked multiple times and will be entering final primer later this week. After sitting post final primer one more blocking and then to paint! The road runner will be painted back to its original Mopar Blue Fire color! The drive train is out, the rear end will be rebuilt with new gears. The transmission has been rebuilt and is waiting to go back in. The motor will be rebuilt and built up, but to keep it a drivable car the horsepower will be kept around 500HP! New Hotchkins suspension will be installed to upgrade the ride, new Cragar SS rims, new rubber and upgraded disc brakes!

A BRIEF REVIEW OF THE FORD MUSTANG The Ford Mustang is an American car manufactured by Ford. It was originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. The original 1962 Ford Mustang I two-seater concept car had evolved into the 1963 Mustang II four-seater concept car which Ford used to pretest how the public would take interest in the first production Mustang. The 1963 Mustang II concept car was designed with a variation of the production model’s front and rear ends with a roof that was 2.7 inches shorter. Introduced early on April 17, 1964 (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda), and thus dubbed as a “1964½” by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker’s most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations to its current sixth generation. The Mustang created the “pony car” class of American muscle cars, affordable sporty coupes with long hoods and short rear decks, and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, Chrysler’s revamped Plymouth Barracuda, and the second generation Dodge Challenger. The Mustang is also credited for inspiring the designs of coupés such as the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to the United States.

As of August 2018, over 10 million Mustangs have been produced in the U.S. The 1965 Mustang won the Tiffany Gold Medal for excellence in American design, the first automobile ever to do so. The Mustang was on the Car and Driver Ten Best list in 1983, 1987, 1988, 2005, 2006, 2011, and 2016. It won the Motor Trend Car of the Year award in 1974 and 1994.
MUSTANG OWNER’S MUSEUM In May 2016, the Mustang Owner’s Museum was announced, with an official opening in Concord, North Carolina, to take place on April 17,
2019, the fifty-fifth anniversary. The decision to locate somewhere in Concord was a result of the success of the 2014 Mustang 50th-anniversary celebration at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, with over 4,000 Mustangs registered and an estimated economic impact of US$8,300,000. For the last few years here at Motorhead Magazine, it has become a tradition to honor the memory of Rhode Island’s most famous Hot Rodding icon, Bob Tasca Senior. Mr Tasca’s passion for going fast, winning races, and putting Ford Motor Company on top of the automotive world is still unparalleled today, which brought us to his Cranston dealership when we heard a rumor that the Tasca Performance Center (Instagram- @tascaperformance) was putting together an absolute beast of a street car to remind the world of his legacy as King of the Road. Many Ford enthusiasts know quite well that the first car to wear the crown as “King of The Road” was Bob Tasca Senior’s 1967 Mustang that received a transplanted 428 Police Interceptor engine after the factory 390 was blown. But this wasn’t just a drop in operation, Bob Senior combed through his parts department to add readily available parts to the 428 including 406 heads, 427 Fairlane headers, a Police Interceptor Holley four barrel carburetor, and a 390 GTA cam. From there Tasca’s team of experts worked their magic through tweaks and adjustments, and a few more minor upgrades to create an untouchable package that would register an elapsed time of 13.39 at the dragstrip and be absolutely untouchable on the street, earning its title of King of the Road. Even Ford Motor Company was impressed by this accomplishment and by mid-1968 the 428 Cobra Jet option was available for the Mustang GT and Fairlane. This option package put the Mustang, once again, on top of the muscle car performance world and put Bob Tasca SR in the history books, as one of Ford’s most respected dealers ever. But Bob Sr was never truly content with sitting still and enjoying a victory, he strived to remain the “King” and to stay so far ahead of the competition that all his adversaries could hope for was a close second. He was brilliant in taking an already potent package and making it better than anyone could imagine and during my own younger days, this was evident when his team unleashed the Tasca KR700 Mustang Cobra. The KR700 was based on Ford SVT’s 2003 Cobra Mustang that came from the factory with a mind-blowing 390hp. This was rumored to have been drastically underrated and the car responded very well to minor modifications. The “Terminator” as it was dubbed by Ford was hands down one of the quickest and fastest production Mustangs

Continued from previous page ever created, but at Tasca, that is just not good enough. Bob Senior’s Cranston dealership was one of the first to receive a handful of these
cars and definitely the first to actually tear into them to see what they could squeeze out of it. The result was the Tasca KR700 that actually produced over 700hp from a 2.3 Whipple supercharger, fuel system upgrades, exhaust modification, and of course a custom tune from Tasca’s own in house Dyno crew. The KR700 was one of my personal favorite cars for a very long time and I will never, ever forget the neck snapping test drive I experienced when I was offered a cruise around Cranston in that monster. It’s actually hard to believe now that 700hp is the norm and that Tasca actually offers a brand new car, off the showroom floor, with 850hp. Tasca Performance’s 850hp 2018 Mustang GT was called a STAGE 1 package by Michael Tasca because he considers it a solid foundation for future modifica-

fiber rear spoiler, carbon fiber air box accents, and upgraded front grilles. The stock Brembo brakes were changed to red for aesthetics purposes and a set of Vossen HF-2 wheels covers all four corners. Your next hint that the car is not your average pony comes at the turn of the key, when the Borla S-Type Active Valve exhaust roars to life. It delivers an intimidating tone that lets lesser cars know that they need to move aside. Under the hood though, is where the magic happens. The car comes from the factory with a pretty potent heart that boasts 460hp in naturally aspirated form. Topping this engine with a 3.0 Whipple Supercharger, a 720cc fuel system upgrade, and what is called a “safe and conservative” tune by the Tasca Performance Center, produces 850hp at the crank, with quite a bit more potential, setting the stage for the next round of upgrades that we will feature in an upcoming issue. Under the car the factory driveshaft was tossed in favor of a one piece carbon fiber unit, half shafts were upgraded with Ford Performance’s rear axle kit, and all of the subframe
Continued from previous page tions. As the car sits at this “beginning Stage” it is simply a phenomenal performance value. The key theory behind the carefully chosen components is that future upgrades won’t require replacement of parts that you already spent good money on. Michael considers this very important to maintaining his customer relationships by giving them, the absolute most they can get for their hard earned dollar, which reinforces his grandfather’s motto that “YOU WILL BE SATISFIED”. And with 850hp as a baseline, I agree that you should absolutely be satisfied. The car itself started life as a heavily optioned 2018 Mustang GT Premium with Performance pack options as well as all of the major creature comforts. The only exterior clues that the car is not completely stock are the carbon support bushings were installed. (Progress towards Stage 2 can also be tracked on the previously mentioned Instagram @tascaperformance). On the road this car achieves near supercar performance standards. Straight line acceleration is not for the faint of heart but when called upon, the Brembos have no problem bringing you to a screeching halt. The suspension (especially the independent rear) helps breed nothing but confidence as you navigate winding roads or track events. Surely as Bob Tasca Senior is looking down upon us, he is grinning from ear to ear, because there is no doubt that if he was to build a car today, this would be his choice to be once again called the Tasca KING OF THE ROAD!!!

I know. It’s February. But, guess what? Drag Racing is already underway in the southern states of America. The Winter Nationals in Florida for an example. It’s not happening in New England yet, but it soon will be. Plenty of us drag racing enthusiasts are hot under the collar for the new drag racing season to get underway and believe me, that’s quite a few of us reading this article right now. Personally, I’m a huge nostalgia drag racing fan and I try to attend as many of these venues as possible throughout drag racing season here in New England and New York State. New England Dragway is the hottest drag racing venue in the region and they feature plenty of nostalgia drag racing events during the season all of the time. I know, I’m usually the first guy in the gate and last guy out of the gate at the end of the day. One of my Motorhead Magazine co-writers, Ed, is often at New England Dragway for many of their drag racing events with his son. I used to take my kids to that venue long before I ever started writing for this magazine, or any other magazine, for that matter. Drag Racing has always been in my blood. Along with high octane fuel, oil and anti-freeze. Lol! We don’t have to be hot and bothered for very much longer. Spring arrives in just
a few weeks and I’m sure that there are a lot of drag racers out there wanting to take their car covers off of their drag cars soon, pull them out of their garages, shops and storage facilities and prep them for the new drag racing season. Right now, we are all a little hot and bothered because of the winter season but that will end soon enough, and before you know it, we will all be having a great time surrounded by drag cars and trucks testing their limits and enjoying the new drag racing season.

Oh hi there! I didn’t see you sitting there. Well this is becoming a habit, isn’t it? Since you’re here, let me get something off my chest. I have a rant that I want to share with you and I’d like your opinion about it. It’s about people, guys and girls, having these unbelievable cars and doing nothing with them. So what gives? A lot of guys and girls I know, but mostly guys, have these gorgeous cars that they have always wanted but yet they sit in garages or storage units and don’t get used. Am I missing something here?
Now I understand that everybody wants to keep their cars nice and I’m all for trying to upkeep my car as much as possible. But with that said, I drive my car as much as possible and use it any chance I can get. I have a few friends that have basically turned into car collectors or so they think. We all, at one point in time, have fallen in love with cars and how driving them made us feel. So at what point in your life did you decide you no longer wanted to drive these cars?
Now I have heard the argument that most people don’t want to drive them in the rain, and for me I think it’s silly. I know, I know the car gets dirty but guess what? You can wash it and it’ll be back to looking great again.

Another argument I’ve heard is that they don’t drive them during the colder months. And I say, as long as it has heat, drive it.

Then the next one I hear is, if there’s snow on the ground I’m not driving my car. Now this, I will agree with. But as soon as the roads are plowed and dry, I drive my car. Are you guys mad yet? I hope not. All I’m saying is, we aren’t guaranteed any specific amount of time on this earth. In my opinion, if you’re going to spend all this money on something that you love, why not just use it? Tell me, what good does that car do sitting there? All the money you spent on taxes, registration, upkeep and don’t forget the price of the vehicle, just to have it sit and waste away.

Mark, when 8 years old, made a “Junior” member of the pit crew, and he was dubbed the team mascot (included having a decal with the name “Mark” on the rear quarter of the race cars). GETS NEW LIFE Mark’s interest in the Big Fords was due to Jiggs owning a ‘69 Lincoln Mark III.
The ’77 Cat was bought from a friend on July 1, 2012. Mark knows the Mercury was repainted back in 2000 and had a mostly stock 460 and C6. A set of clean bumpers in Arizona were installed, the leaky steering box replaced, the carpet replaced, and the door panels reupholstered. Mark pulled out the motor in late 2015, tore the nose down, sandblasted everything he could and repainted using SPI Black Epoxy Primer. Randy and Joe at Precision rebuilt and reassembled the short block, and freshened up the high compression C9VE heads for me. That included a 3-angle valve job, and replacing the guides. SHELBY GT500 2020 MIKE GALLO All right guys, most of you who know me know that I am a Ford guy at heart despite what I drive now. I have always loved the Mustang. I think Ford does an unbelievable job with their cars but this new model is unbelievable. The new Shelby GT500 Mustang is absolutely breathtaking. The new motor’s displacement is 5.2 liters with a cross plane crank derived from a GT350. It also has a 2.65 Whipple supercharger sitting on top of the motor that will produce over 700 horsepower and 600 foot pounds of torque. Now here’s one that might catch you by surprise. This car is only going to be offered with an automatic transmission with a dual-clutch setup. I’m sure Ford knows what it’s doing with this choice. The very first 2020 GT500 Shelby just sold at Barrett Jackson Auto Auction for $1.1 million which is the highest price paid for a Mustang. All of the proceeds from the sale of the car are going to a charity, which is awesome. This car is going to also have carbon fiber wheels. I can tell you the car looks absolutely amazing on the outside and in the interior. Hopefully these cars will show up at dealers at the end of this year or at least
midsummer. The car is also rumored to go 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds with an undisclosed quarter mile time as of right now. But I’m sure it will be inline with the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Dodge Demon. This car is definitely on my wishlist so as soon as I win Powerball, I’ll be sure to grab one. Etch puts the pedal to the metal and his muscle car screams away at a high rate of speed with what is left of the police vehicles still in hot pursuit. One police vehicle after another drive past the burning school bus blown to pieces and spread out all over the roadway. “Nice shootin’ idiots! You blew up our blockade instead of the GTO! Somebody get that tank driver a seeing eye dog!” said, a police officer over his mic. “And, you blew up a bunch of our police cars too! Somebody send that guy a bill for all the damage will yah?” The GTO is long gone by now but the police have another surprise up their sleeves for Mr. Outlaw. Etch glances back into his rearview mirror and sees smoke rising up over the blown up school bus and police cars but nobody is chasing him. He keeps his GTO at a steady rate of speed, just over the posted speed limit, often glancing behind him to see if anyone is going to pursue him. Nobody is behind him and nothing is in front of
him but open road. Etch starts to feel a little uneasy about this situation and starts to look all around him with his head turning quickly from one side to the other and behind him and in front of him hoping to see something happening. It’s just him and his GTO cruising down the highway all alone. “This is real strange,” he said, under his breath. “Why isn’t anybody chasing me?” The GTO continues to travel down the highway just above the speed limit. “I don’t like this one bit,” said, Etch. “What did they do? Did they give up trying to catch me?” He keeps a steady pace traveling along the highway and doesn’t see anything out of the ordinary what-so-ever. It’s leaving Etch with a weird feeling that something dreadful is just around the next bend in the road. He keeps glancing back into his rear view mirror and then into his side view mirrors and sees absolutely nothing behind him that would lead him to think that he is still being pursued by law enforcement

or any other federal agency for that matter. “Where in the hell is everybody? Why aren’t they still chasing after me? They all give up? Headed back to that Dunkin Donuts for more power circles, coffee and hot chocolates? This makes no sense to me.” Etch keeps cruising in his muscle car GTO and keeps his speed limit about five to ten miles above the posted speed limit. “So, what in the hell am I doing now? Just above the posted speed limit when half the state was after my ass a little while ago? I’m just as bad as they are right now. Not like nobody is going to notice an illegal 1969 Pontiac GTO traveling down this freeway all of a sudden. It’s all over the news!”

READERS RIDES JIM WEICHERDING Hey! It’s February. Next month is March. What do I want to see? Your Muscle Car, Hot Rod and Cool Truck Featured in upcoming issues of Motorhead Magazine. It’s really not that hard to do. Hot Rods vs. Muscle Cars
JIM WEICHERDING Where do we draw upon the comparisons between hot rods and muscle cars when it comes to being an enthusiast within this car culture in this day and age? It’s a tough one when you think about it in those two dimensions. I mean, one is a hot rod and the other one is a muscle car. Two totally different worlds, correct? Of course they are. Some might argue the point that it’s all the same but I won’t be the one that engages in that argument. I’ll be the guy to start that argument but I won’t be the guy engaging in that argument. Why? Because I love all things automotive regardless of whether it’s a hot rod or muscle car. Hell, I’m more of a truck guy than either of those topic issues but that’s for another article down the road in another issue. Next, it’s muscle cars but you may already be aware of this because of my paperback book, OUTLAW RUN, and the very popular ongoing magazine series, OUTLAW RUN Beyond The Book featured monthly in this magazine. Hot Rods are so cool just the same. I cannot really draw an enthusiastic comparison between any of these issues anyway but that’s just how I see things when I’m out at the more than one hundred classic auto shows, cruise nights and drag racing events that I attend every year across New England and New York State.
Everyone has their personal favorites anyway so that’s pretty much how any of this goes. Kinda like drawing comparisons with what vehicle manufacturer is better than the other. We have Chevy, Pontiac, Mopar and Ford owners all chomping at the bit about who’s hot rod, classic car or truck and muscle car is better than the other one. I see it all the time. There really is no right or wrong answer. It’s in the eyes and mindset of the beholder. I’m a big Chevy and Pontiac enthusiast while others are not. Just the way of the automotive world as it currently exists. Whether you love hot rods or muscle cars one thing is for certain: we are all automotive enthusiasts and that makes us think alike and builds that bond between us. Some of my best friends drive Fords and Mopars. Doesn’t mean I think any less of their passion or fondness for their favorite automotive manufacturers. I hope they think the same about me and my passion and fondness for Chevy’s and Pontiac’s.
What kind of world would it be if we all thought the same exact thing about everything around us? Be kinda boring in my book, wouldn’t it? Enjoy the upcoming Cruisin’ Season everybody! It’s just around the next bend in the road. Whether you prefer hot rods or muscle cars, let’s all have a great time in 2019.

GEORGE ARAKELIAN, JR. Can I put a Remote Start on My Manual Transmission Vehicle? Yes you can! Not only do we carry manual transmission remote start models but also we have them in three different excellent brands, IData, Directed, and Code Alarm They will allow safe remote starting of your manual transmission vehicle. In addition, the manual transmission remote start is also available in a car alarm remote start combo package. The manual transmission remote start is set up to prevent unwanted or accidental starting with the transmission in gear. Therefore, it is designed as a fail safe system. In fact you should come by and we’ll show you how they work. And we can probably even install one for you today! Can I Just Use My Factory Key to Start My Car? Yes you can if your car key is your remote control and you don’t want to carry a separate remote on your key chain. This option isn’t available with all newer vehicles but it is with many. However the disadvantage is your range, the distance from your car that you can start it. In other words your range will be limited to the current range of your current key remote. Specifically that’s the same range you get now when you lock or unlock your car. If you want longer range you’ll have to buy a long range remote start system. In addition many of the new remote start remote controls our very small. Come in and see them on display. Unfortunately we are unable to extend the range of your factory key. How About a Remote Starter on My Push-toStart Car Where I Don’t Have to Put in My Key to Start It? Yes, we do remote start systems on push-to-start cars all the time. Some require a bit more work and so are a little more expensive while others are not. Call us and we’ll do our best to give you a pretty close estimate for your car. Can I Put a Remote Start on My Hybrid? Yes you can. We have remote starts for hybrids. And with the remote start the car will pre-heat or pre-cool the vehicle depending on your climate control settings. As a result, once the desired temperature is reached, the engine will shut off. Then it will restart when it becomes necessary to adjust the interior temperature based on your settings. As you can
see, a remote start for a Hybrid vehicle has great benefits! Will the Remote Start Cool My Car in the Summer? Yes it will, as long as you leave your A/C controls set to cool with the fan switch on, it will come on automatically when the car is remote started.
or state. What is a Two-Way Remote Start? A two-way remote starter gives you feedback on your remote control that what you asked it to do got done. As an example, the remote control receives a signal from your car and confirms to you the doors locked or the vehicle started. If you have an alarm as part of your remote start package it will confirm any alarm triggers. Accordingly your remote will make a beep sound and either flash a lighted button or show an icon on its display. This will tell you what it’s confirming. Since we carry many models in different price ranges with different remotes it’s best to come by to see the differences. Does the Remote Start Include a Car Alarm?
What About Remote Start Range? How Far Away Does It Work? The remote start manufacturer’s ratings on their products range are for best case situations. For example when a manufacturer says your range is 2,500 feet that is the best you can ever hope to get. In fact in the city with the amount of electrical interference all around us, the remote car starter could get only half to a quarter of the advertised range. Therefor instead of 2,500 feet you may get as little as 600 or 800 feet. As a result it’s not possible to guarantee range in every case. But don’t forget, even 300 feet is the length of a football field! Our standard remote starters have plenty of range for average use. And probably 70% of the remote car starters we sell are of the standard range variety. They do great and rarely do we get a complaint about range. If you feel you need more range we’ve got you covered. Most remote starters we carry rated above 3,000 to 5,000 feet (a mile is 5,280 feet) will do a great job for longer range needs. What if I Need Extreme Range? We carry 900 mz spread spectrum technology remote car starters that give nearly a mile range best case. That’s over 5,000 feet. While you won’t get that far in a city, what you will get is the ability to activate your remote start from otherwise difficult locations. With the extra power, you will have the ability to remote start the car deep inside a shopping center, sports complex, or movie theatre parking garage. And you can even get confirmation on your remote control that tells you your car actually did start. That’s called a twoway remote start. In brief, with these systems you can start your vehicle, lock and unlock it from any distance, even from another city
A remote start does not include an alarm but it can if you want. However, if you need the added security of our car security systems, you can purchase the remote starter with a car alarm in a combination unit. Does Key-less Entry Come with the Remote Car Start? Key-less entry, having your remote control lock or unlock your doors, is a feature which usually comes with the remote start (assuming you have working power door locks already on your vehicle), but on some cars it’s an option and so the remote start can be purchased without it to save money. Often the electronic interface modules that we use to install the remote start will include key-less entry but not always. Just because your remote has key-less entry or trunk release doesn’t mean the remote start remote will have these features. If you want these options to work on the remote start’s remote control, please let us know before we quote a price so we’ll make sure it’s included. In summary, a remote start system doesn’t disable any features on your factory remote control. They still work. When we install a remote start it does not disable the car’s original remote controls. They still work as they always have. On some vehicles, the car’s original factory remote controls won’t unlock the vehicle once the engine has been started. This is just how these cars work. If your car is like this, then you will want to make sure the key-less entry feature is included with your remote start purchase so you will be able to automatically unlock your car doors once the car has been remotely started, otherwise you’ll just have to unlock the car doors with your key.
