Businesses In The Spotlight: Supporting Shopping Local LAURYN “HOTWHEELS” PONTIAC-VERNANCIO I can’t stress enough how important it is to keep the current economy afloat, especially with today’s numbers of debt in the United States alone. Before you assume that I am delving into political banter, I would like you to bear with me one moment and actually watch what you see when driving around today. children the ability to attend extra activities, they are paying a loved one’s medical bills, or they are giving the money back into their business to research better ways to satisfy their customers.
One thing that I have noticed in particular is the service that I am provided with when I am visiting my local mom-and-pop shops. It was these places that generally started the economy’s growth spurt. These were the original people who helped form what would give success its first amour. These were the individuals whose foundation of blood, sweat, and tears would earn their first dollar producing fine quality products and services from their first customer and onward.
The beauty behind “Shop Small” is simple. For one day we are deciding to give back into our local communities not just by benefiting ourselves with the products we may need, but by also reaching out and giving others the ability to reach goals they might not otherwise have had the opportunity to achieve. This is one of the many reasons why the staff at Motorhead Magazine enjoys building long-lasting relationships with our advertisers. We take the time to work on a one-on-one basis to get to know who we are partnering with and research their background and ultimate goals. When you purchase a service or product from one of our advertisers, you can be sure that you are receiving the best commodities available.
During the month of November, there is a certain date (the 28th) where communities nationwide have made the decision to “Shop Small” or support their local stores who have strived to not only reach the utmost level of cus-

Cars and Critters
Vipers and Mustangs and Bears OH MY!!
ED YESSAIAN As a young child, one place that I always enjoyed, no matter how many times I visited, was the Stone Zoo in Stoneham Massachusetts. Some of my fondest memories include wandering around in amazement, looking at all the animals, carrying a freshly popped carton of popcorn from the front desk. So, when The Mustangs of Massachusetts guys tossed me a flyer and requested my presence at their first annual “Cars and Critters” event, it was added to my list of shows I just can’t miss. This turned out to be one of the best shows I’ve attended in a while with trips through the zoo, specific animal encounters, and more raffle prizes than I have ever seen in my life. Another added bonus to the day was that 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Zoo!!! Outside the actual zoo, in the parking areas, the usual cast of MoM characters made their appearances in the Car Show section of the event. Daniel Spector’s 2003 Anniversary SVT Cobra has always been one of my favorites with 660rwhp and ridiculously pristine engine bay. The powerhouse of the group Ansel Grose was also on hand with well over 800rwhp from his Shelby GT500. It was certainly hard to say which cars would top the list once judging started, but eventually the votes were tallied and the hardware was handed out to the following lucky enthusiasts…

PONTIAC G8 GT DAVE McCLAIN A few weeks ago, Lou Cicerone dropped off his 2008 Pontiac G8 GT with a check engine light. He noticed the oil pressure gauge on the dash wasn’t showing any oil pressure. If you know Lou, you would know that it upsets him when any of his cars are not in perfect working order. The car was running perfectly fine, but the oil pressure sending unit failed, which is pretty common on LS based cars and trucks. The worst part is that it is about a 4+ hour job to pull the intake, coil packs, clean the intake ports, install the oil pressure sending unit, and bolt it all back together. Lou’s G8 had around 117,000 miles on it and is in relatively good shape for a daily driven ride. Since, Lou couldn’t remember if he ever changed the spark plugs, I pulled a few and was surprised to see that they were the original AC Delco plugs. They were pretty beat up looking. I recommend changing them well before the 100,000 miles scheduled interval. I swapped in a fresh of stock AC Delco plugs and visually checked all the plug wires for any signs of damage. They all had the original metal heat shields on them and looked to be in good condition, so I reinstalled them and got the G8 running again. Once I finished the engine work, I gave the G8 a nice interior and exterior detail to get her looking fresh and new again. Lou and I wondered how much power the old G8 was making to the rear wheels, because he never had it Dyno tested. I remember years ago, Lou used HP Tuners software and threw a tune in it, but he never tested it on a dyno to verify his results. He did run it at New England Dragway years ago, but we couldn’t find a time slips to verify any
I was data logging the ECM during the pulls and noticed a little knock retard kicking in. It could be from using low octane fuel and not 93. I think we need to throw a nice camshaft in it and tune it, because this G8 GT doesn’t seem to be too tired. I think it has another 100,000 plus miles in her!

gains at all. Just adjusting the automatic transmission shift points makes a world of difference in how the car feels on the road. A quick google search gave us a baseline number of 280-285 RWHP and 310-315 RWTQ. The car was 100% stock except for a tune performed by Lou quite a few years ago. We locked the transmission in 4th gear and made a few pulls on my DynoJet 224X. I was very happy to see that Lou’s G8 was still performing strong considering it really had no go fast modifications to it. Not even a drop in K&N air filter. The results: 296 RWHP / 320 RWTQ. Pretty impressive from a 7 year old sports sedan! CALL 401-965-9012 TO ADVERTISE

Thanksgiving Traditions
JIM WEICHERDING
It’s that time of year again here in New England. Sum-
are shoveling snow and wishing it would end soon so we could go hang out with our friends at these venues once again on a weekly basis.
Then it is occurs to us that we have these wonderful holidays coming up and they start with Thanksgiving. We call our family and friends and invite them over for a special Thanksgiving dinner and most of us in the classic car and truck world reflect upon Thanksgiving’s of the past. Not two years ago. Not even ten years ago. We reflect upon Thanksgiving’s thirty, forty and even fifty years ago when the vehicles we drive to car shows and cruise nights today were in showrooms directly sent from the manufacturers. I was just a kid back in the days of the new muscle cars and converted hot rods, but I remember vividly the sights and sounds of those days long gone when all you saw and heard on our roadways were the cars and trucks we mostly only see now at car shows and cruise nights. Sometimes we catch a glimpse of them on the back roads, main roads and highways headed too, or returning from these classic vehicle venues. But every day drivers? That is pretty much a thing of the past. I remember looking out my picture window when I was a kid living in Minnesota on Thanksgiving Day and seeing my uncles pull up in their cool muscle cars. It could be snowing an inch an hour and it wouldn’t matter. My uncle’s would pull up in their muscle cars;
mer is over. Halloween is now behind us and we begin to see signs of fall and winter running together every single day. The leaves are all over the yard and there is a cool brisk breeze in the air. Temperatures are getting colder and we trade our cool hot rod and motorcycle tee shirts for our cool long sleeve hot rod and motorcycle tee shirts and sweat shirts.
I eventually moved to Rhode Island with my family when I was twelve year’s old and settled in the town of Burrillville. Our Thanksgiving’s didn’t change. Family and friends still arrived to celebrate the holiday in cool cars and trucks because that was all there was back then. I thought that was the tradition of Thanksgiving when I was a boy. Driving to family and friends homes in your classic cars and trucks. Happened every year when I was growing up. So, I thought that was our Thanksgiving Tradition. Then came the Seventies. Thanksgiving would never be the same again. Muscle cars and hot rods weren’t showing up at our Thanksgiving dinners anymore. It was economical cars with four cylinders and sometimes six cylinders and came in compact sizes, made of plastic! I no longer sat in the front window waiting to see the cool muscle cars and hot rods pull up in front of the house on this holiday anymore. The Thanksgiving Tradition was over. No more cool cars and hot rods. It was small economical vehicles puttering up to the front of the house with everyone crammed into each one. Even my dad now had an economical car parked in the driveway instead of a 1957 Chevy.
Well, when I was old enough and had my own family and invited my family and friends to come visit and have a Thanksgiving dinner at my own home there was something different on our agenda for that day. “Bring your classic car, or truck, or stay home.” My driveway and garage had a 1969 GTO, 1969 Chevy Truck, 1966 Chevelle and a 1967 Camaro parked outside when I decided to bring back my Thanksgiving Tradition and told everyone to bring their classic vehicles to celebrate Chevrolet 540 - 600 H.P. the holiday at my house. It was like the Thanksgiving’s of • Edelbrock Heads my own childhood that I wanted to share • Air Gap Edelbrock with my own kids. Complete, Lines, Bottle - Brackets, Minimum We all have our own Thanksgiving Tradition’s and many probably do include these 100 H.P. or More, Never classic cars and trucks of years gone past Used N.O.S. in our own memories. I just decided to • MSD Ignition with Box make sure that these memories were not • Roller Rockers only from the days of long ago and still • Hooker Headers made them a tradition in our lives when we were starting out with our own fami• 650 Holley Carburetor lies and old friends. Maybe this year when • Asking Price $10,000 you invite your family and friends over to Thanksgiving dinner you might suggest that they take their classic cars and trucks out of the garage and out from under the car covers. Let’s make New England the only winter region in the country where old Thanksgiving Tradition’s are still honored and remembered by all of us diehard classic car enthusiasts and pull up to a family member, or friend’s house in your own muscle car, hot rod and “cool” truck. Now wouldn’t that be a sight seeing all of these classic’s cruisin’ to destinations unknown during this holiday season to start our own Thanksgiving Tradition’s for our kids and grand kids that bring back 1965 GTO, 1967 Camaro and 1966 Chevelle covered in visions of Thanksgiving’s long gone and bring back snow and parking them in front of our house. Whether you are a car guy, or girl, chances are that you are also a New England sports fanatic and wear your team logos with pride. We car and truck enthusiasts do the same thing with our favorite classic car and truck logos and images as well. We want to show where our hearts and heads are at when it comes to this world of fast cars and big trucks all year long. Not just in the summer season when the car shows are upon us and located almost everywhere on any given day, or night throughout the cruisin’ season. In November, a lot changes for us classic car and truck enthusiasts take place and we are faced with various types of feelings regarding this time of year when we put our classic rides away in our garages, storage areas and under car covers parked safely in our backyards and driveways. There is a feeling of loss. A feeling of something we can no longer put our fingers on but we know that we feel it anyway.

That won’t be happening again for another five, or six months. That is a long time in car guy months. Too long for most of us. But we have to deal with it and move on and hope the winter months don’t last as long as they did last year. They do have a tendency to do just that... drag on. A CAR GUY’S (OR GAL’S) CHRISTMAS! WHAT TO BUY FOR 2015
LAURYN “HOTWHEELS” PONTIAC-VERNANCIO The Holidays are coming! Don’t want to be that last minute shopper this year and want to find something reasonable yet exciting that will appeal to your car enthusiast’s interest? Our staff at Motorhead put together a basic list of ideas for even the pickiest automotive fanatic.
1.) The Saving Grace—Gift Cards! Don’t know car parts and products that well? Your local Auto Parts Store or Sports Center will be able to help. You can give your loved ones the gift of helping them purchase car parts or sports memorabilia (like NASCAR) through your local center such as Napa, AutoZone, Advanced, sports stores at the mall, etc.
2.) Your local aftermarket/ speed shop—For The Wise! Know exactly what you need? Try The Enthusiast in Johnston, Karl’s East Coast Speed in Warwick, The Driver’s Seat in Warwick, and many close by stores for the product your significant other was specifically searching for. These guys are friendly and very knowledgeable.
3.) Online Personalization—For The Quick At Hand!
While we can never get enough of Amazon.com, there are other sites that are also helpful in finding personal gifts and some of them can even be engraved. There is www.pinkcaraccessoriesshop.com to find something for the girls, or www.autoplates.com to find generic emblems, license plate covers, or key chains. Custom Hitch Covers also has an outstanding personalized selection at www.customhitchcovers.com for that picky truck buff.
which is separated by manufacturer. With all of these great ideas in mind, you shouldn’t have a problem finding the perfect gift the first time!
4.) Car Clothing—For The Warm Hearted While we show off our pride and joy most of the summer, we can show our automotive support anywhere and anytime with car apparel. Right now, we are loving Rhev Clothing’s line at www.rhevclothing.com/shop for the more urban which features all genders (including kids!), or for the more branded type there is www.musclecarapparel.com

and the Dart.
ED YESSAIAN It seems like just yesterday that Shelby Marie Kingsley was slapping the boys around in Tim’s Speed and Custom Street Eliminator with her 2005 Mustang. She even went as far as winning her first King of the Hill in that car before her father Len Kingsley of Kingsley Automotive Machine in Nashua, NH decided it was time for her to step it up into a more serious ride. That new ride turned out to be a Sassy Grass Green 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger that is lifting the wheels and turning heads in A&B Tire Pro Eliminator. At just 20 years old, Shelby Marie will be entering her 2nd full season of Pro Eliminator in 2016 and should do very well after an impressive showing running the full 2015 schedule in that class. It also seems that she has become quite comfortable in the new ride, so the new season looks very promising for her
Speaking of the Dart, it has quite a history of its own. The actual car started life as an unfinished project that Len picked up from a gentleman in Hudson, NH, it was an Arizona car that was in excellent condition. The original 318 V8 and automatic transmission were the first to go. In its place went a Kingsley Automotive built Chevrolet 355ci GM 010 4 bolt main cap block updated with steel main caps. Stuffed inside was a Lunati crank, Scat Rods, Ross pistons, and Bullet roller cam. Up top are Dart aluminum heads, Crower roller lifters, Scorpion rocker arms, Manley valves, springs, and titanium retainers. Finishing it all off is an Edelbrock Victor Junior intake, AED 750 carb, and MSD Crank trigger ignition. Len estimates the horsepower to be just a tad over 500hp and it sounds absolutely incredible through the custom headers and 3” exhaust that he hand built by

otive’s Shelby Marie is terrorizing Pro Eliminator himself. Transmission services were supplied by Val DiGenova whose chore was backing up the nearly bulletproof Bow-Tie heart of the Dart. An equally as stout Powerglide transmission with a Reid case
and tail housing stepped in and a Hurst Pistol grip shifter makes sure Shelby Marie keeps a good grip on the competition as she puts the power to the track through a Mopar 8 ¾ rear with 35 spline axles and 4.30 gears. Making sure Shelby Marie can stop when she needs to Len relies on a complete Wilwood brake system. Chassis and suspension, they say, is the most vital component of drag racing, so this is where some serious time and attention went into the car. Bob Melvin of Pro-Fab welding in Groton, MA was responsible for the chassis fabrication as well as the tub widening. An S&W 10 point roll bar featuring front down tubes and x-bars in the doors keeps the chassis stiff and keeps Shelby Marie safe inside. S&W also supplied the ladder bar kit. Suspension dampers are made up of Moroso front drag shocks and Strange double adjustable coilovers in the rear. The final package holds an 8.50 chassis certification, so there’s still plenty of room for Shelby Marie to grow from a current best E.T of 10.55 @ 125mph. this means that the competition can look forward to chasing
a Sassy Grass Green Dart for a long time to come. The car, however, wasn’t always that bright and shiny. Len gave credit to Russ Tech Auto in Nashua, NH for the engine bay and jamb work and Rick Bell completed all the other bodywork and paint. To take some weight off the car Len added a fiberglass hood, fiberglass bumpers, fiberglass lower cowls, and a fiberglass trunk lid. This resulted in a final running weight of 3100lbs. Len says that despite the killer drivetrain and the added safety equipment, the car still doesn’t require much to convert it back to a pretty nasty street car. The way Shelby Marie is ripping it up at the track, I’m not quite sure she’s ready to give it back, but with a good family friend like Tim Boise of Tim’s Speed and Custom, Len has a good hookup towards anything he needs. Len credits Tim for use of his shop, and all the parts he needed
throughout the build. He was also telling me about FREE SHOPPING SUNDAY, which came in quite handy during the entire project. To see Shelby Marie Kingsley and the Dart in action, be sure to check the New England Dragway website for the upcoming 2016 schedule of A&B Tire Pro racing.

CIDADE LANDSCAPING
STANDING TALL NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY’S 2015 CHAMPIONS
ED YESSAIAN
It’s now November and our home away from home is closed for the 2015 season. It was an incredible season, with almost no rainouts, and the track prep, as usual was picture perfect thanks to the many hardworking men and women on staff at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. As we await our “family reunion” at the awards banquet in January, there’s a select few men and women who will be glowing with pride all winter, knowing that they finished 2015 at the head of their class, as a 2015 New England Dragway Points CHAMPION. Most of these classes were extremely close up until the very last week of racing, but at the end of it all, here are your 2015 Champions…
Diesel Direct Super Street
Just 2 points separated Joe Henderson and Paul Lorenti at the end of the season. Henderson would have the extra two points needed to top the list and walk away with the top prize in Super Street. East Coast Power Equipment Junior Dragster B In just her second year of competition, Kaylee Genualdo would take a pretty hefty lead hold onto it for most of the season, and walk away with her first New England Dragway Championship. East Coast Power Equipment Junior Dragster A In her second to last season as a Junior Dragster, Chantel Gaboriault would take the Championship over Julia Sparago by just 9 points (Less than one round). Chantel looks to finish her Junior Dragster career with a back-to-back Championship reign and could very well do so, judging by her performance this season.
Indy Auto Parts Super Pro This was one of the best classes of the season. Up until the final weekend it was a handful of guys that could have walked away with the title, but Wayne DeSantis fended them all off to win it in Super Pro.
True Street 12.50
A&B Tire Pro Eliminator Mark Winterbottom battled it out until the very last second against some of the best racers in the class. If anyone fought hard this entire year and deserves to stand proud, it’s Mark Winterbottom.
Dave Nadeau would win the last three races in a row for True Street to cinch the 2015 Championship. Nadeau looks to join the 8.50 Wild Street class for 2016, adding to his extensive collection of victories and Championships.
Tim’s Speed and Custom Street Eliminator
Real Street 11.50 Rich Cosenza, Ted O’Connell, and Stephen Pinter kept this one interesting, each scoring a couple victories throughout the season. Cosenza entered the final week with a pretty good lead then cemented the Championship with a season ending win in the final race.
2015 was hands down, the year of Dan Caissie. Caissie took the Street Eliminator Championship by a longshot as well as the Street Championship at Lebanon Valley. It’s probably safe to say that he had more victories this season than any other competitor.
Fast Street 10.50
MOMS Motorcycle/Snowmobile Tyler Wilkerson held off a fast charging Ed Hughes to hold onto the Championship in a rather close group of racers. This was a fun class to watch with some really good competition. 2016 should be a blast for these guys.
The Machine Ron Childs and Joe “The List” Brooks went back and forth with the lead early in the season but eventually Childs would take the lead and keep running with it. For 2015 Ron Childs adds the 10.50 Championship to his 11.50, and 12.50 Championships in Outlaw.
Top Bike
Super Street 9.50
This was another awesome class, with the championship in anyone’s hands throughout the season. At the end of it all Mike Vizzo would fend off Jim Jordan and Ed Hughes to capture the Top Bike Championship.
In a class where Dave Rossini had no competition, literally, he would once again claim the 9.50 Championship. For 2016 we’re looking to add a few more cars to the class, to make it worthwhile for the Champion Rossini.
Dennis K Burke Super Comp
Wild Street 8.50
Herbert Roby finished at the top of the class in another close group of extremely talented racers. Jeff Viens was right there for a good part of the season, but Roby would stand victorious as the Champ.
If any one man deserves their Championship, it’s the Wild One Jim Dayotas. With more than his share of misfortunes in the past three seasons, it was an awesome sight to see Dayota ringing up Top Qualifier and Class Winner prizes all this season. FANCIFUL FLATHEAD: PAUL PETROZZI’S 1951 PICKUP
LAURYN “HOTWHEELS” PONTIAC-VERNANCIO
It’s been a while since I have seen a Flathead 8 cylinder machine, and it was quite the interesting find upon seeing Paul Petrozzi of Valley Fuel’s 1951 Ford F3 pickup. It has been his project of the past three years, with his
love of antique vehicles originating from the time that he was 16 when he purchased his first pickup.
although the business itself has held a steady foundation of 23 years. Paul not only takes prides in his vintage vehicles, but also in his work. His business is family owned and operated and also holds a pretty great reputation throughout the
Kent area, Washington County, and Providence. His main priority is providing heating oil to families and businesses in need, and
fast. Some mornings oil can be available as a speedy same day delivery and the phones are answered a complete 24 hours as needed for emergency service. It can be confirmed that with the exceptional care Paul takes with his vehicles, that he also shows a pros-
perous business work ethic. We hope to see Paul’s “Valley Fuel truck” at the 2016 summer shows!
He has had a preference for just trucks specifically, and his first was an F5 stake body. He and his father were concrete masons that were at a job when he fell in love with the vehicle which was outside in the woods across the street. It was a basic roller (no engine) and needed some minor TLC. His friend helped him convince the neighbor to let him purchase the F5 for a mere six hundred dollars. With a smile on his face, Paul headed down to Pete Wilson’s junkyard in Foster, Rhode Island to scrape up an engine which once installed would start right up. From his previous experience, Paul knew where his real love would be, in that in the hands of the classic pick-up truck. His F3 came straight out of Minnesota, was generally a decent find needing minor cosmetics as well as mechanical work, and was in its all original condition. This fanciful flathead Ford is currently the pride and joy behind his business. Mr. Petrozzi has been the owner of Valley fuel for the past three and a half years, CALL 401-965-9012 TO ADVERTISE

FALL DYNO DAY 2015
IS NEARLY 700RWHP THE NORM?
ED YESSAIAN
The joke of the day on Saturday morning October 17th was that Ed Yessaian invited 50 people to a Dyno Day that started at 9am, but overslept and arrived just in time for the pizza lunch, hosted by NH Mustang Club. Yeah, it was funny, and yeah, you can insert your favorite fat kid jokes here, but aside from that little bit of comedy at my own ex-
pense, the event itself actually packed SERIOUS Horsepower. How about 5 different cars (each of the big 3 manufacturers included) each packing over 600rwhp and 4 knocking on the door of 700rwhp.
One of my all-time favorites, the 2012 Roush Mustang of Jay Tresider, set the pace for the day with a killer 632rwhp. Tresider pretty much guaranteed that he has a lot more to bring to the table, so it’s going to be an interesting run during Spring Dyno Day in April 2016. Next up was Kevin Dion with an immaculate “Whippled” 2003 Sonic Blue Cobra. Dion is another one that definitely has a bit more 26| Motorhead Magazine - November 2015
but for today it was 691rwhp off of 20.5lbs of boost. Making an impressive Performance Dyno debut was Frank Augello with a brand new Challenger HELLCAT. This was the first HELLCAT I’ve ever seen on the Dyno, so I was dying to see this run. From the factory the cars are UNDERRATED at a ground pounding 707hp at the crank. With nothing more than
Overall, this dyno day was one of the busiest I’ve seen over the years. If I had to guess, I’d say Pete Johnson spun at least 30 cars or more. And while every Dyno Day has a couple standouts, I don’t ever remember a day where almost every car was in the same
a cold-air kit, Frank ripped it up to the tune of 690rwhp and 611ft/lbs of torque. The General Motors crowd was not going to be out done either, as Automotion owner and operator Paul Kalinoski brought in his Corvette Z06 that just simply demolishes anything exotic. This was my absolute favorite car at last year’s dyno day, but with a 150hp shot of Nitrous on board, I couldn’t wait to see what he had in store for the 2015 show. After a couple warm up passes, the sinister Vette spun the wheel to a final tally of 692rwhp and 672 ft/lbs of torque. This was the second best Dyno sheet of the day, outdone by only one other car, which ironically was built by Kalinosky at his shop in Billerica, MA (www.automotion-saabvolvo.com). Top honors for the day went to Dan Spector with his 2003 SVT Cobra Convertible. This was a spotless Anniversary edition car that looks completely stock when you walk around it, except for the chrome wheels. Dan’s Cobra is also upgraded to a Whipple supercharger and packs all the supporting mods and fuel system to support the boost. His best pass of the day resulted in 693rwhp and 603ft/lbs of torque. With a lower pulley install slated for Spring time, there’s no telling where the car will go from here.

ballpark. If 700rwhp is the new norm, I can hardly wait to see what Spring Dyno Day 2016 has to offer. It was no surprise that Pete previously tuned all these powerhouses because I guess when your phone number is 603-226-FAST, you pretty much have to deliver, and Performance Dyno in Loudon certainly does that!!!
past months of February and March, but is it a given to keep it year round? Unleaded ethanol is extremely hydroscopic and will absorb water just from vapor within the air. Because ethanol will mix with any water inside of gasoline and cause SALES a separation meaning that one portion of your fuel will beSERVICE gasoline and&the other an ethanol and water mix. This separation can cause issues in starting, idling, running, power, and could potentially damage internal engine parts by reducing lubrication. For gasoline that may be stored for a few month’s time you may want to make sure that you purchase an airtight container and add a fuel stabilizer to prevent water absorption.

Lastly, the thing you should be scanning for is lubrication products. Oxidation can ELECTRIC RANGES occur in all oils that are in contact with starting at air, including stored lubricants. The base oil and additive combination will affect the rate of oxidation and the presence of thickener in the grease can increase the degradation rate. Increasing the FRIDGES starting at temperature by which the lubricant is stored can double this oxidation rate as well, hence why there are temperature guides on the sides on grease tubs. To be on the safe side, the maximum recommended storage time for lithium greases and lubricating oils is a year, while calcium complex greases are weighed in at a steady six months. Check the manufactures’ labels on your products for more specifics.

The 2015 Corvette Z06 Dave Messere
For 2015, Gm has released the new Corvette Z06, the high-performance variant of the new for 2014 Corvette Stingray. The big news here is the 650hp supercharged LT4 engine, a small block engine with 6.2 liters of displacement. With 650 ft/lbs of torque, This Vette has more grunt than a Ferrari F12 or a Lamborghini Aventador, both 12 cylinder supercars costing several times more. The first Z06, appearing on the 1963 Stingray, combined a 36 gallon gas tank with heavy duty brakes and suspension in a package to support owners who wanted to race their cars and circumvent GM’s ban of motorsport racing at that time. The Z06 was brought back for the 2001 model year as a track focused car available with a hard top and manual transmission only....until now!

1932 Ford 3 Window
“...what better way is there to “cruise on” in life at this stage of the game?” By Greg Fowler My love of cars began when I was in my early teens when my aunt bought a new 1962 fuel injected Corvette. I didn’t know much about cars except what I had read in various magazines. Naturally, I read about the Rochester mechanical fuel injected Vettes and I believed they were the fastest cars on the planet. I was starting to enjoy the car enthusiast mentality more and more. At 15, a friend of my fathers gave me a 1954 Plymouth Savoy, which had a flathead 6 cylinder engine. However, this one had a rod knock and the motor turned out to be junk. As luck would have it, my Grandmother had a 1954 Plymouth Wagon that had been wrecked when my Uncle hit a stone wall, which she offered to me, but my Father insisted that I pay for it. I gave her 15 dollars, which was a lot of money for a 15 year old kid in 1962.
28| Motorhead Magazine - November 2015
Never having swapped an engine before (not even an oil change), I went forward and didn’t let my lack of experience stop me. Being blessed with a good mechanical ability, I studied the engine, how it was mounted and decided what was necessary to make the swap. I then borrowed a chain fall and mounted it to a large branch on a tree in our backyard. It wasn’t the best method, but shortly thereafter the engines were swapped and the car was running. Two weeks later, I serviced the engine with oil and filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, points and condenser, distributor cap and rotor, etc. and later also put tires on once I had enough money saved. I mounted the new tubes and tires using a pair of tire irons, then took them to the corner Esso Station to balance them. The only problem I had with my new/old Plymouth was lack of horsepower. One day, while riding down a street in Coventry, I spotted a 1957 Ford for CALL 401-965-9012 TO ADVERTISE
ow Coupe sale and bought it on the spot. That was the beginning of my love for horsepower and hot rods, but still not enough horsepower existed in this vehicle, so out came the 292 and in went the .030 over 312. The deck was cut, the heads milled and thinner head gaskets were installed to achieve higher compression. The three speed transmission came out and a four speed went in, along with a set of 411 gears which I had removed from a 1957 Ford Wagon. This ’57 hot rod was on its way. I went into the service shortly thereafter and began working on airplanes, and 9 years later when I got out, I took advantage of the government sponsored education and studied mechanical engineering. That’s when I started enjoying my profession and could now afford to enjoy hot rods and my love of Corvettes. Currently, I’ve been building a 1932 Ford 3 window Coupe with the help of the crew at Conti’s Service & Motorsports on Warwick Ave in Cranston. Extensive fabrication was performed not only on the glass body, steel fenders and running boards, but the entire chassis was extremely modified starting with the bare frame to connect the stainless steel coil over independent front suspension and tie in the diagonal 4 link rear suspension. The LS2 engine will breathe through a single 750 4 barrel and exhaust through 3” stainless steel oval tubing with custom 3 chamber oval mufflers. A 4L60 4 speed automatic transmission will keep the engine RPM’s below 2,400 RPM’s at 70 MPH, with a 26 ½” tall rear tire. A smoothed out rear axle assembly now matches the frame’s surface finish. Wilwood disc brakes at four corners with a 6” single diaphragm booster and a 5:1 brake pedal ratio makes stopping effortless.
it the straight wet look in Metallic Red to match the frame. Then onto Carl’s Upholstery in Johnston for his “talented touch”. This may be my last hot rod, but what better way is there to “cruise on” in life at this stage of the game?
Extensive effort was made to strengthen the glass body and hang the doors with oak ribs shaped to fit the interior body’s configuration then ‘glassed/ epoxied in. The doors were reinforced with aluminum tig welded sections-see pictures. Wiring is almost complete and after some shake down runs the car will be driven to Centry Auto Body on Atwood Ave in Cranston for Dave Moretti and his crew to give

Hoping that trend is about to change is something that I think we all truly would like to see happen this year.
So, with high hopes for a better Car Show and Cruise Night Season combined with lower gas prices, we can all regain our composure and smile while we put our clean and shiny classic rides into gear and head down the open highways and back roads headed to the nearest cruising venue forgetting about what a horrible winter we just survived to talk about and get together with family and We Make it Easy friends in the warmth of the new spring season.
I am sure that most of the readers reading this article right now would love nothing more than to be driving in their classic cars and trucks on nice clean blacktop roadways across New England instead of trying to manage slick, snow and ice covered roadways.

When perusing through your stash of goods on top off your toolbox and shelves, you might want to keep one basic question in mind. “How long have I had this?” One of the most prominent contaminants that will unfold right before your eyes which can be a dreadful harm to your vehicle is hydroscopic fluids. What does hydroscopic mean? Hydroscopic describes something that will readily take up and retain moisture. A common hydroscopic fluid that would cause quite a conundrum is brake fluid. When brake fluid absorbs moisture, the boiling point of the fluid becomes lower and will cause the fluid to compress less. Moisture within your braking system will give the fluid the ability to limit your braking power, and in turn rust out your brake lines and all necessary hardware and components. Being a New Englander during the winter months will accelerate your fluid’s water-sucking habits and this is why it HOUSE WASHING is discourage to keep larger containers on your garage shelf. To make that kind of power, you need a solid foundation
When Motorhead owner Lou Cicerone told me to try and find a feature car that is a little different than my usual contributions, it took me a while to think of one car that was like nothing I have ever written about before. SEASONS OF SAFETY: “HOLIDAY TRAVELS” JIM WEICHERDING It is that time of year again, when we bundle up the kids and go to family gatherings and celebrate the season’s holiday’s together. The holiday’s are the busiest travel times of the year for families and we really need to remember that safety should play a strong role in those busy drives to family and friend gatherings on our roadways during this time of year.

upallofus Stickers, Magnets, Coloring Calendars and Coloring Books are just some of the kids stuff the child safety advocates, Doctors and Nurses hand out to the kids during the year to remind them to be safer in family vehicles across the state.
We also need to take into consideration the weather and road conditions during this time of year. Roads can sometimes be covered in snow and ice and those road hazards would increase the possibility of a vehicle crash into another vehicle, or even the chance of losing control and sliding off the side of the street, road or highway.
Buckleupallofus Kid Safety Stuff is now available online with a company in Stowe, Vermont called Web Stickers. There are plenty of Bucky Stickers, Bumper Stickers, Fridge Magnets, Coloring Puzzles and Wall Decals for safety fairs, grade schools and events for anyone wanting to reach out to kids and families about their traffic safety. These great traffic safety kids items are also a perfect handout of kid safety stuff for automobile dealerships and automotive shops to remind kids and families to stay safer in vehicles.
Buckleupallofus is a very popular child passenger safety mascot and is being utilized by police, fire and rescue departments not only here in Rhode Island and across New England. This cartoon character is being used as a traffic safety mascot to teach kids about the importance of wearing proper child restraints on a national level with child safety advocates and children’s hospitals at grade schools, featured in parades, and at car seat check ups. Customer Reviews JOSH EMSEESEE — Wow, what a great resource! I couldn’t be happier with my experience at GSI. I was able to diagnose my issue, remove, then install new parts in record time because of the great support at Gearhead. Ron got me set-up quickly and the money I saved by doing this myself is unreal. Come by and check out the shop, tools, lifts, computer diag equipment, and just about everything else you need to fix your own car. I plan on doing my upgrades here and my friend will be contacting them to help on finishing a project car. 5 stars all the way! MIKE MORELLI — This place is great! Had a helping hand everytime I ran into a few snags with replacement of my wife’s E30 suspension. We got all the work done and the cars feeling great. Great people and great facilities! Couldn’t ask for a better setup so close to home. STEVEN TRAFFORD — I spent a couple hours today fixing my 2005 Ford F150 at GSI. I had to replace the front brakes and rotor assembly. I was given an estimate to fix it at a local shop for $950.00 but after picking up the parts for myself I saved about $500.00 doing it myself at GSI. The shop is top of the line and clean as a whistle. Cheryl helped me with free membership and was a delight to talk to. This is not a place where you just come and use the lift and tools. Ron who is very knowledgeable helped me when I got stuck with putting those break pads on and not only that he is a real great guy. I found the experience very satisfying and plan to be a frequent customer. So if you are a DIYer, I highly recommend Gearhead Systems International as your new headquarters for all your repairs. Give it a try, I guarantee you will be glad you did
