NEW ENGLAND, 2018 / RAIN-OUT CENTRAL JIM WEICHERDING Well, it’s October! Another New England Cruisin’ Season has come to its climax ending for another year. A lot of area Cruise Nights hosts and locations have decided that if the weather holds out that they would like to continue their season into the month of October to try and make up for lost events

and venues. Especially those with charitable causes and fundraising goals to try and reach for area organizations and groups needing some extra funding to help their own causes. While I write this article I hear the rain pouring down outside for the fourth straight day in a row, and yes, even though we may have some sporadic nice days in between the constant rainy days it looks like the Cruisin’ Season is going to end pretty much the same way it began; “canceled, canceled and oh guess what, canceled!” Those words have probably not been spoken as much over the past decade as much as it was uttered this past season. In reality, the Cruisin’ Season in 2018, Sucked! Last year, even though it rained well into early July, and we suffered numerous early season cancellations, I still managed to attend nearly 200 Classic Auto Shows, Cruise Nights and Events across the region. This year, I just broke the 100 events attendance the last weekend of September, with about a half dozen to a dozen more on my schedule of appearances. 100 is still a lot of events to attend but it isn’t nearly as many as I would have liked to attend. My heart goes out to all of the area charities and causes that also paid the price for very poor weather conditions beyond any of our control. With all of the cancellations and postponements due to the constant rainy weather, it affected everyone of us who love this classic automotive culture and hobby too. Missed out on good times with friends and family. Getting out of the house, garage or work shop for awhile to help us unwind and enjoy our lives. When it wasn’t raining, it was so damned hot and humid nobody could stand to leave their air-conditioned homes and environ-

ments. We just couldn’t win! It’s depressing and it’s stressful. The poor events promoters and hosts having to deal with non-stop rain-dates just to have their rescheduled dates rained out as well is quite stressful. Think it’s not? Try doing it for yourself. Invest your own time, money, energy and resources

into putting on a big weekend car show only to have it canceled due to rain. And then, deal with it again a month, or two later. You’d go home and cry in the dark. It’s that discouraging. I know Classic Auto Show DJ’s throwing in the towel after this season because over the past few years it just seems to get worse and worse for these venues and our poor weather patterns and conditions. You know something? I don’t blame them one bit or for one minute. It’s bad enough that higher gas prices, constant environmental restrictions, deaths, financial woes and loss of interest directly affects this automotive hobby and lifestyle, now the climate is trying to take it away from us as well. New England weather patterns had better start to turn in favor of our hosting outside events like classic auto shows, cruise nights, festivals, fairs and parades or this region will suffer dramatic economic losses and become downright one of the most oppressive places to live, thrive and enjoy life in general. Nobody goes to outside events, travel or even go for a drive to the ocean if the weather is bad. Let’s hope we have seen the last Cruisin’ Season where the poor weather wins out and we all lose because of it. Honestly, if it doesn’t change, a seven to ten hour drive south down Route 95 might be in the future plans for this Writer, Artist, Cartoonist and Events Promoter. New England has not been very conducive to any outside events and venues over the past few years. It’s not four seasons anymore. It’s always raining, too hot or too cold. I remember when we had Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter growing up here. I see that slipping away, but I wonder if anyone sees the same thing that I see. I hope it changes for the better next year. The police oﬃcer waves at Randolph and drives away from the scene. Randolph is left standing in his driveway alone. “Damn punks!” He slowly walks back up his driveway and resumes washing his 1957 Chevy on this very hot end of summer day. He soon hears his dogs scratching on the front window panes and whimpering to come outside with him in the driveway. He just smiles and waves them off thinking that it is way too hot to allow them to come outside in the driveway. Randolph sits back down onto his milk crate and begins washing his classic vehicle rims. The dogs begin to aggressively scratch at the front window panes and begin growling instead of whimpering like they were doing only moments earlier. He looks back at both dogs and gestures for them to go lie down inside the house and let him finish washing his car before the real hot temps arrive at the height of the day. That sun shining straight over his head will not be very pleasant at all to deal with. The sooner he gets done with his task at hand the better. While Randolph washes his rims the two dogs are acting frantic now in the front windows. He glances up at both of them confused by the way they are acting. They normally don’t act this way at all. The dogs drop down from the window panes and Randolph goes back to washing his rims.

through the exterior hallway leading into the side door entrance of his home with both dogs walking closely behind him. “Quite the mess you boys made for me to clean up.” He can’t be mad at them. They probably saved his life, or at least from being harmed by the masked cowards that were attempting to creep up behind him while he washed his classic Chevy. As he starts to sweep up the broken glass with a broom, Randolph thinks back to his friends and brothers back in Vietnam. They were cleaning up shards of glass left scattered across the post after heavy artillery brought down a USA medical helicopter flying overhead transporting injured soldiers back to the hospital for proper care and treatment for their injuries. They never made it much higher than one hundred feet above the designated helicopter landing area inside the post when it was shot down by the enemy during fierce fighting. They were all lost. Randolph starts to tremble and shake and acts like he is trying to avoid being shot by ducking his head up and down and from side-to-side and begins shouting out the names of his fighting brothers inside an empty living room. Both of his dogs sit still in the kitchen doorway leading to the living room. He stops for a moment, and looks around the house. He now realizes that he is alone inside his own home. Not back in Vietnam. He glances up at some

Suddenly, both German Shepards leap through the window panes and Randolph looks up to see shattered glass everywhere and his dogs headed towards him running and barking. He glances down at his shiny rim and sees a reflection of two masked intruders standing directly behind him. Both men look up and see the two dogs rushing towards them. They leap back over the row of bushes to avoid being torn to shreds by these two hundred plus pound beasts set on killing them both. Randolph looks over the bushes and sees two hooded individuals running away from his property being chased by his dogs. They both leaped over the bushes in an attempt to catch the intruders and have a live lunch instead of their normal dog food. Randolph gave out a command and the obedient dogs both stopped chasing the two individuals and sat in the field waiting for their next command. A moment later, Randolph gave that command, and both dogs returned running back to the driveway by leaping back in full stride over the five foot tall bushes surrounding his property edge. “Good boys,” said, Randolph. The dogs are now licking his face and playfully bouncing around him standing in the driveway. “Now, let us go fix those front windows you two decided to jump through a few minutes earlier.” Randolph walks into the garage access door and

ED YESSAIAN Many of our Motorhead readers have come to know me as the resident Mustang Guru, and rightly so, as I have been enamored with these cars since 1987 when my Godfather showed up in a Medium Yellow LX 5.0 hatchback. Shortly after that the same Godparent appeared with a 1992 Mustang GT, then a 2002, a 2007, and most recently a 2018 GT. Personally I have also owned a handful of Mustangs but regardless of what cars we were driving, my Godfather and I have always made it a point to attend the Tasca Mustang and Live Music event at their Cranston dealership.

Last and not least, Xander got to meet racing legend and NHRA superstar Bob Tasca 3rd and was treated to a VIP tour of the 11,000hp Tasca race car that later was fired up for the enjoyment of all the fans.

A New Generation...

...of Car Enthusiasts MIKE GALLO I’m not sure how you grew up, but I am the only one in my family that appreciated cars, drag racing, lowriders, trucks and motorsports all together. I think in order for our sport of cars to succeed and flourish, we need to help nurture the new generation of car enthusiast that are coming up. With all of the children and young adults that are related to us whether it be son, daughter, niece, nephew or cousin, I think it’s our responsibility to point them in the right direction... if they are so inclined as to be interested in our sport.

When I see that look on his face, I think to myself how can I not bring him deeper

into our sport. So if you ever see Antonio at a car show with me, feel free to say hi to him . Antonio has recently picked up a flare for taking pictures of cars at the shows. If you see him with the camera around his neck, ask him to take a picture of your car. He is actually pretty good at it. Take for instance my son Antonio. He does nothing but talk about cars constantly. I have even caught him pulling out some of my old drag racing VCR tapes and DVDs of racing events and watching them. Antonio even knows 90% or better of every car on the road and has a vast knowledge of what is fast and what isn’t. Now we won’t get into what isn’t fast...lol. But he has a love for Mustangs, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Grand Nationals and of course Corvettes, especially the ZO6 and the ZR1. Sometimes he drives me nuts because all he talks about is cars but I have learned that it is my responsibility to take him out to car shows. I want him to see for himself what we as the older generation are all about. So if you have the opportunity to take a family member or one of your loved ones out to a car show, especially if they are a child, go ahead and do so. SAFE WINTER DRIVING TIPS By BILL PRATT

Winter driving has been described as equal parts driving, bobsledding, and church service, so we want to help you make it just a little less stressful and a little more safe.

Lastly, if your trip is non-essential or can be postponed, do it. Stay at home if you don’t need to go out. If you are tired, do not drive. Driving while sleepy can be especially dangerous in winter weather. If you do go out and start to feel uncomfortable about the road conditions, pull over and stop. Call for help if needed. If you’ve been paying attention, you have the items you need in your emergency kit to help you wait it out until help arrives or the weather clears.

Before You Drive We are going to assume that you paid attention to our last article and have properly prepared your vehicle for the winter. So the first step in being safe on the roads during the winter is to do a proper warm-up on your car. There is some controversy here with a lot of people saying there is no point to letting the engine warm up any longer than it takes for the oil-pressure gauge to register. But a fully warmed engine is more eﬃcient. And while you’re doing the proper warm up on your vehicle, it gives you time to fully remove the ice and snow from all of your windows, mirrors, headlights and taillights, roof, hood, trunk and tonneau cover (if you have one on your truck). By the time that’s all done, as a bonus your car should be warm inside as well, making for a more pleasant drive. IMPORTANT: If the snow is deep around your car, the first place to clear is your tailpipe. Every year people end up in the emergency room or the morgue because someone was in the car staying warm with carbon monoxide coming in because of a tailpipe buried in snow. This is especially true if you get stuck in the snow. Make sure the tailpipe is clear!

If You Get Stranded: Stay with your vehicle! Call for help and wait with your car for it to arrive. After you make sure your exhaust tips are not buried in the snow, run the engine for 15 minutes per hour with the window cracked. The exception is if

Another thing about your pre-drive: make sure you have built in extra time to get to your destination and be sure to include the time it will take to properly warm-up and clear off your vehicle. While Driving Do not accelerate or brake too quickly – ease on the brake gently and drive like there’s an egg under the accelerator. You want to accelerate slowly to reduce wheel spin and start braking sooner than you normally would with gentle pressure on the brake pedal. Do one action at a time when accelerating, braking and turning. Trying to get your vehicle to do two things at once, like braking and turning, can reduce your control. Before taking a turn on slippery surfaces, slowly apply the brakes while the vehicle is going straight. Then make your turn and gently accelerate when the vehicle is straight again. Plan ahead so you don’t have to make unnecessary lane changes or sudden actions such as hard braking. Back off the car ahead of you. Make it the 8-second rule in bad weather. If you start to skid, steer in the direction of the skid and gently let off the gas. This will help straighten the vehicle. If you’re skidding sideways, do not brake! It will make things worse. When braking in a straight line, if the pedal starts pulsing, don’t release pressure. That’s the anti-lock brakes working! Do not use cruise control in wintry conditions. Using cruise control can cause you to easily lose control of your car. If your car hydroplanes or skids, cruise control will try to maintain a constant speed, causing acceleration and the spinning of your wheels. If your car has electronic stability control, you want to leave that on. It can help you keep the car on the road and under control if you hit a patch of black ice or something. If you get stuck, you want to turn traction control off, as spinning the wheels can help you get un-stuck, but the traction control will keep that from happening. This will work as long as the car is actually moving. If you’re stuck in deep snow, and the car isn’t moving at all, spinning the wheels will just make things worse. Watch out for the other guy! Too many people drive in bad weather the same way they drive in good weather. So leave yourself extra room, signal 30| Motorhead Magazine - October 2018

Burnout Gone Bad!!

By JED GREEKE This month’s featured vehicle is Scott’s 57 Bel Air! Unfortunately Scott’s 57 came to us after a burn out gone bad! While mid burn out the Bel Air blew a tire and rocketed into a stone wall, where it sat atop the pile. All of us car lovers can only imagine the feeling in Scott’s stomach as he crawled out the car to see his prize possession sitting there. Scott had heard of us and soon after replacing the banged up frame, he brought us the car to get straight and right again. The damage to the passenger’s side was extensive, lines and trim were off and windows could not be rolled all the way up, the door was folded into the rear section. We got to work, making the car straight and covering it in a black paint that far exceeds factory specs! Many upgrades were added at the shop and after Scott got it home, including Foose Knuckle rims, 18x9.5’s wrapped in Hancock rubber, a lowering kit, Wildwood brakes, Hotchkins Suspension, new smoothie chrome bumpers, powered antenna, 486 Big Block motor and a Holley Sniper Fuel Injection Kit, to name a few!! This car sounds as gorgeous as it looks!!!!

1923 FORD T BUCKET What happens when you’re a car guy with an empty garage bay and you see lots of unused parts, two lengths of rectangular tubing from another project, a quick sketch and a desire to build something? That’s how car guys get into trouble and where crazy projects are born. It all began when I was sixteen. I was working at J.J. Morrone’s Sunoco gas station in Ashaway, learning how to fix cars. That’s when I fell in love with hotrods. I also learned how to build engines, drive -trains, paint cars and race, which I still do today as a hobby. My first car was a 1969 Ford Mustang. I raced my Mustang locally giving my parents their gray hair. I attended Chariho High School. At that time, I was assessed to see if I would qualify for the automotive program. It turns out I was too knowledgeable. My counselor advised me that it wouldn’t be challenging. She suggested giving machine shop a try. I was accepted into the machinist program and that’s when I fell in love with taking simple pieces of metal and bringing them to life. In my early twenty’s, I started to build a 1978 Chevy 4-wheel drive truck. I entered it in Show and Shine contests. I won several times. Then I decided to participate in a local truck pull competition and won that too. I decided to rebuild my truck and to enter it in the professional 4WD truck pulling class. In 1986, I entered into the class of professional ranks. I continued to work hard to be a top competitor. I participated in truck pulls at Madison Square Garden, Providence Civic Center, Philadelphia Coliseum, Worcester Centrum, and many others all over the country during the winter months. During the summer, I traveled to outdoor tracks all over the east coast. In 1988, I was ranked number one on the east coast and the eleventh in the country. I have been interviewed on television, magazines, and radio. I’ve met some very talented and famous people along my journey with whom I am still friends with today. Not bad for a kid from Ashaway with nothing more than a dream and some great skills. Since the pulling truck there has been other

projects including a 540 CID Mini Rod Pulling Tractor that I custom built and I have a 1977 Corvette with many custom parts that I machined. None of these compare to my latest project. My newest project started with an idea and a sketch. I’ve always loved and have been fascinated with “T” Buckets. On Labor Day weekend of 2014, I began my most challenging project of all. I knew at the beginning I wanted my car to stand out. So, the color would be a vibrant orange. I started with two lengths of 2 X 3 rectangular tubing. I took an inventory on what I had and realized I had two identical 350 SBC in my arsenal. I thought, “Why not use both?” I redesigned and stiffened the frame and the hard work began. Keep in mind, I wanted to be able to tell everyone that the entire car was built and painted by me. Parts cannot be bought for a double engine car, so I had to machine, weld, fabricate and design just about every part for the car. Each engine has Keith Black, 10.2 to 1 compression ﬂat top pistons with Competitions Camshafts that were designed

for marine applications. The cams provide lots of vacuum and give the motors a nice, “lopey” idle. Weiand Tunnel Rams, topped off with Holley 450 cfm tunnel ram carburetors and K&N Velocity Stacks get the fuel and air into the monster. The engines make about 300 horsepower each. Fuel is deliv-

The engines are coupled together with a coupling that I designed and machined to keep the engines hooked together. The two engines run together like two best friends. Power goes through a Turbo 350 with a B&M Shift Kit and 1500 stall speed converter. A Curry rear end housing with a Strange Engineering aluminum center sec-

tion with 3.73 gear ratio puts the power to the ground. Steering is done with a steering column that I designed and machined with a quick disconnect steering wheel. A Vega steering box handles the turning. The dashboard houses two water temperature gauges and two oil pressure gauges to keep an eye on each motor. A custom made Griffin Radiator with over size hoses and lines keeps the engines from boiling over. Stopping 600 horses is done with Wilwood Brakes and Master Cylinders. The interior panels were covered by Alâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Upholstery located in Exeter, RI to give the car its comfort. The paint is House of Kolor Strato-Metallic Orange. Davey Jones of Narragansett did all the pinstriping. He has done all my cars since I was sixteen years old. Wayne Palmer of Mobile Glass Works made the windshield. highly recommend. Lastly, aside from showing my T Bucket at events, I am a machinist by trade. I am the coordinator of the Machinist Program at New England Institute of Technology in Rhode Island. I love teaching my trade to people who are eager to learn. I help them find employment at local machine shops. I would now like to take this opportunity to thank my awesome girlfriend, Darlene, for her patience and support while building and showing the T Bucket. Also, to my good friend, Tony Gallonio, for giving me parts he had left over during his â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;32 Ford build. The most challenging task that we are trying to put off this winter is ultimately cleaning out the garage. What does hydroscopic mean? Hydroscopic describes something that will readily take up and retain moisture.

A common hydroscopic fluid that would cause quite a conundrum is brake fluid. When brake fluid absorbs moisture, the boiling point of the fluid becomes lower and will cause the fluid to compress less. Moisture within your braking system will give the fluid the ability to limit your braking power, and in turn rust out your brake lines and all necessary hardware and components. Being a New Englander during the winter months will accelerate your fluid’s water-sucking habits and this is why it is discourage to keep larger containers on your garage shelf. If possible, buy the smallest bottles at your local Auto Parts retailer.

Losing the Bandit MIKE GALLO As many of you have already learned, we have lost an icon, Burton Leon Reynolds, mostly known as Burt Reynolds. He was born on February 11, 1936 and passed away, leaving this plane of existence, on September 6, 2018. I first learned of Burt Reynolds while watching Smokey and the Bandit as a child and it formed a love of mine for the 1977 Trans Am. That black car with the gold Firebird emblem on the hood made me want one in the worst way. And Burt Reynolds was definitely a man’s man during that era. With his trademark mustache, cowboy hat and cavalier way. On the roads in the movie, driving fast and having fun seemed like the way to go. What many don’t know is that Burt Reynolds starred in around 64 movies. He gained giant fame starring in Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run, but also played a role in Deliverance and Boogie Nights. He had also turned down the role

as Han Solo in Star Wars and also turned down playing James Bond in 1969. Burt even turned down his Oscar nominated role in Boogie Nights seven times….imagine that? He did things his way no matter who liked it or not, and in my opinion you have to respect him for that. He was also promised a new Trans Am every year that a new one came out from the President of General Motors after Smokey and the Bandit. Upon receiving some of the Trans Am’s he would give them away mostly to family members. Then one year when he was set to receive a new Trans Am, it never came. So Burt decided to call General Motors and was informed by the new president of General Motors that he would not be getting a car any longer. But Burt just brushed It off and said oh well. One of the 1977 Trans Am Bandit promo cars sold at an auction in 2016 for $550,000. Now that’s a lot of money for a Trans Am but not that much considering it’s heritage and who it was tied to. I personally haven’t seen a Trans Am from

that era in a long time until a few months ago. I spotted one that looked just like the bandits car in my neighborhood. Now that put a huge smile on my face. It’s tough losing an icon like Burt Reynolds. He was a joy to watch on screen and at home on DVDs. He will be missed by me and by many of us Motorhead fans. All great things seem to have to come to an end and even though his run is over, he will never be forgotten. The Bandit will live on in my mind and heart as well as others like yourself. If you get a chance, rent or buy Smokey and the Bandit. Sit down on your couch, put it in the ole DVD player and invite a few friends or family members to watch it. Oh and if you’re listening Burt, know that you will always be remembered. Until next time we meet, keep the shiny side up and the rubber burning. Over and out.

Etch is traveling at a high rate of speed down the open highway and that’s where OUTLAW feels at home other than at a dragway. He sees the flashing lights on the pursuing police cars and just smiles. He’s almost getting used to being a wanted man and the adrenaline is pushing him to limits he once thought were unreachable. Etch hopes the police have not contacted dispatch and are right now, sending more police vehicles to a destination point further down the highway in an effort to box his power plant GTO in from any further attempts to elude justice. Etch thinks to himself: “Justice? What justice? They take away my rights and my freedoms and then when I fight back, they think it’s justice to try and stop me?” The OUTLAW GTO keeps cruising at a high rate of speed down the open highway when Etch finally sees what he was hoping would not happen; a police vehicle roadblock ... and a TANK! “A tank? Are you freakin’ kidding me? A tank?” Etch slams his brakes hard and cuts his steering wheel to the

left and then right trying to maintain control of his vehicle. OUTLAW stops broadside on the highway with the passenger side facing the roadblock and his drivers side facing the oncoming police vehicles not able to keep up with him just moments ago. Etch looks at the approaching police cars and then back at the roadblock. “A Tank? Really? A freakin’ tank?” Etch plants his right foot on top of the muscle car gas pedal and slams it to the floorboard. The OUTLAW GTO is screaming as loud as it can with fierce wheel hopping and fish tailing across the open freeway. {KaBLAAAAM} the tank commander takes a shot at the eluding Pontiac GTO. Etch cuts the front tires hard left as the tank projectile misses his entire car by inches and heads straight for the stopped police cruisers that were trying to keep Etch from escaping back from where he came moments earlier. The police oﬃcers throw their power circles and coffees to the ground and start diving into the highway gullies on both sides of the four

lane blacktop. A few seconds later, one of the police vehicles is struck, explodes, and causes the police vehicles parked around that one, to burst into flames and also explode, with a couple vehicles actually leaving the earths surface going straight up into the air. Etch strategically drives OUTLAW directly under one of those leaping police vehicles, timing it perfectly through the flames and smoke that occupy most of the ground space surrounding him and his prized muscle car. {KaBLAAAAM} Etch hears the tank fire at him once again and floors the gas pedal and closes his eyes steering straight ahead on the open highway.

MIDNIGHT ROAD JIM WEICHERDING

The teenagers in town all know about Midnight Road located on the outskirts of their rural community. They talk about it, they text about it and they message each other about it on their social networks all the time. Especially in the month of October. October is the non-stop Midnight Road month. The dares begin to start between friends and even enemies from within their own clicks. Who’s got the guts to cruise down Midnight Road at midnight on Halloween Night? The last person to

attempt to take that particular dare was eighteen year old Jordan. He lived on Foster Street near Midnight Road. It was in the late fifties.

All of the teens were hanging out with their badass hot rods and cool pick up trucks at the local car hop. Listening to Wolfman Jack on their vehicle radios and chowing on burgers and french fries while drinking iced cold Cokes in paper cups. The girls dressed in school sweaters and sported pigtails while the boys wore turned up blue jeans, tee shirts with a pack of cigarettes rolled up under their sleeves, whether they smoked or didn’t smoke because it looked cool, and sported slicked

back hair with a forehead curl twist just like Elvis had on his head.

Jordan was a normal fifties teenager with decent grades in high school, a part-time job at his dad’s grocery store, a cute girlfriend and a real nice thir-

ties hot rod coupe. The kids were sitting together and talking on a chilly Halloween Night at the car hop when one of them brings up the topic, Midnight Road. “C’mon guys! Can we go just one night without talking about Midnight Road?” asks, Jordan. “What are yah, scared to talk about it buddy?” asks, Jared. “No. I just think we should give it a rest.” “But, it’s Halloween buddy. We always dare each other to cruise down Midnight Road on Halloween,” replied, Jared. “Yeah, and nobody ever takes that dare. We’ve been doing this since we first got our drivers licenses back when we were fifteen years old. Enough, is enough already!” Jared laughs it off. “Okay, let’s drag race down Midnight Road tonight at exactly midnight. Then we can do it together because nobody ever had the guts to do it alone.” Jordan looks over at his girlfriend Jennifer. She immediately says, “Don’t do it. You’ve heard the stories. That road is haunted. I don’t want you to cruise down it alone and especially not drag race down it with Jared tonight, or any other night.” “It’s safe during the day. People drive down that road all of the time,” said, Jordan. “When it’s not

Not seen or heard of anything happening any other night since I’ve lived here.” Jennifer pauses, “Yeah, When was the last time you ever saw, or heard of anyone drive down Midnight Road on Halloween Night at exactly midnight, accept for that time a family of four disappeared visiting from another state who all vanished after being seen driving onto that road at exactly midnight back about ten years ago?” asks, Jennifer. “Their station wagon was found running very low on gas with all of their belongings still inside but no bodies were ever found anywhere on the very next morning! Explain that to me.” “I can’t,” said, Jordan. “Nobody can,” said, Jennifer. “C’mon! That’s just a scary story. Let’s drag race!” said, Jared.

Jared plant their gas pedals to their floorboards with oldies music blasting from inside their rides, rear tires screeching and loud exhaust roaring into the night skies. All the spectators can see now are their taillights headed down Midnight Road until they cannot be seen any longer. All they can hear is oldies music, screeching tires and loud exhaust echoing throughout the pitch black night air. The sounds never cease. It’s all they can hear. The music, screeching tires and exhaust gets louder and louder until everyone has to cover their ears before they run back to their own vehicles and head back towards the lights of town scared to death. The two teenage boys and their hot rods were never seen again.

You can still hear them. If you dare. Especially at midnight on Halloween Night located on the edge of town on Midnight Road. The End?

He gives her a big kiss and a hug and pulls out of the car hop parking lot following everyone ahead of him headed to there destination, Midnight Road. “This is so stupid,” said, Jordan. Jordan sees that Jared is already stopped and ready to drag with him before the tree line down Midnight Road. Jordan pulls up alongside of Jared’s hot rod with his own hot rod and looks down at his watch. It’s almost midnight. Everyone else stands behind the two teens inside their rods ready to drag race watching with total excitement. Jordan cranks up the oldies music and so does Jared. Both tuned into the same radio station.

An auto backup camera is a special kind of video camera that is manufactured specifically for use at the rear of a vehicle to assist with backing up. These cameras are also known as rear view cameras or reversing cameras. The driver on a dash-mounted monitor displays the image that the camera captures for viewing. An auto backup camera is distinctly different than other types of cameras because the image is flipped horizontally so the output that he is viewed is a mirror image of what is being captured. This is critical because the driver of the vehicle and the camera would face opposite directions and the cameras left would be the drivers right and vice versa. The mirrored image captured by the camera makes the orientation of the monitor’s display consistent with the image displayed by the vehicle’s mirrors. An auto backup camera normally features a wide angle lens. While this type of lens lessens the cameras ability to capture distant objects, it allows it

to view a horizontal line, completely uninterrupted, from one corner to corner of the rear of the vehicle. In order to view obstacles and the position of docks or walls, the lens is typically pointed downward rather than straight back. An auto backup camera is perfect for use on vehicles such as motor homes or those pulling trailers. These cameras are also commonly used in an SUV that has decreased visibility because of blind spots that are larger than a typical car. Basically, they can be used when driving any vehicle to enhance security and safety. They easily detect children’s toys or other hazards that may be behind a vehicle. These types of hazards are not seen in a rear view mirror unless they are a fair distance away from the vehicle. More and more automobile manufacturers are offering the auto backup camera as an optional factory accessory on most sport utility vehicles and standard passenger trucks. However, these packages are often expensive and many drivers choose to add this after-market accessory themselves. With the increase in popularity of in-dash GPS navigation systems and DVD players, many safety conscious drivers are taking advantage of the LCD display that these systems require and using it to monitor what’s behind their vehicle.
