Unexpected Opportunities to Connect at YRC
Pandemic Brings Unexpected Opportunities to Connect at YRC
In 2020, each of us embarked into the new decade with strategic plans in place, roadmaps for success. No one could have predicted the unexpected detours and roadblocks we would encounter, forcing all of us to navigate new paths and forge ahead into the unknown. While some business owners faced shutdowns and strategized about how to adapt to COVID-19 safety protocols from their home offices, many of us found ourselves with a new label — essential workers, which meant navigating safety protocols while we kept working on site. From owner-operators to national carriers, our teams showed up determined to keep each other safe and keep America moving forward — delivering essential items like PPE, medical equipment and other essential goods. It is inspiring and humbling to work in an industry of such dedicated, caring people. There is no question 2020 forced us all to change the way we do business. As challenging as some of these changes have been, it has also shed light on something greater – we are in this together. At YRC, we are learning as we go and finding new ways to connect, collaborate and appreciate one another. Video calls are a chance for much needed human interaction and create a space for innovating solutions. Our new recognition program allows team members to recognize peers for going above and beyond, which strengthens relationships and reinforces our culture.
These actions and more have made our network with multiple service brands across North America feel more connected, more accessible, more like one.
There is a power in that oneness and trusting we are not alone. It gives us the confidence to believe we will get through 2020 and whatever lies ahead. We are in this together and driven to do the right thing for our teams, our customers and our communities. n
