Editorial Once again your desire to serve has inspired rotarians to ride the waves and with your contribution, wish to extend and stretch your innovative skills to the best of your ability. Rotary waits with open arms. This platform where we see ourselves reaching out to the community and situations which need strength that Rotarians can render all around. So, put your working strategy into full force and see how fullfilling the result will be now as the ball rolls on.
In an effort to increase membership and highlight Rotary’s inspiring work, RI President Barry Rassin is urging clubs and districts to organize fun, informal community events called Rotary Days. "Rotary Days events will offer you the chance to have an impact in your community, build long-term partnerships, increase interest in membership, and improve Rotary’s image," Rassin said. Any club, big or small, can host a Rotary Day. Neighboring clubs can pool their resources and co-host an event, and entire districts can come together for a large-scale Rotary Day.

* Consider including a hands-on service project as part of the event to let visitors see for themselves how Rotary benefits the community. * Feature guests that appeal to a non-Rotary audience. Consider young leaders, inspirational speakers, celebrities, musicians, or other public figures. * If the event will offer food, keep it simple — for example, a self-service buffet rather than a formal, sit-down meal. * Advocate on local issues related to Rotary’s areas of focus by calling attention to challenges that affect people in your area. * If you charge admission, keep prices low. Ask local businesses to sponsor your event. * Welcome families and make the event enjoyable for them. * Present Rotary as an appealing opportunity for potential members to make new friends, exchange ideas, and take action to improve their community and the world. Avoid using Rotary jargon or referring to club traditions. * Highlight the work of local Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, Rotary Community Corps members, and other community members who do extraordinary humanitarian work. * Recognize non-Rotary community members who demonstrate Rotary’s service ideals. * Sponsor an event with a partner organization to show that, by working together, we make a deeper and more lasting impact on communities. * Ask local news media to cover the event. * Collect participants’ contact information, and invite them to future club events. * Partner with local civic groups, service organizations or local businesses. During and after your event, post photos and videos with the hashtag #RotaryDay to social media. We’ll collect photos of Rotary Day events around the world and show them at the 2019 Rotary International Convention in Hamburg, Germany. Some may also appear in Rotary media throughout the year.

"Imagine the collective impact we can have if all 35,000 Rotary, 10,000 Rotaract, and 22,000 Interact clubs engage their neighbors, friends, young people, and organizations," Rassin said.

Message from Rotary International, President My dear friends and fellow Rotary leaders, Today marks the beginning of the 2018-2019 Rotary year, and the beginning of our time together in Rotary office. Our theme in this Rotary year is Be the Inspiration. I chose this theme because, throughout my years in Rotary, I have seen that what truly motivates Rotarians is their work.
Rotary International President 2018-19 Barry Rassin
The Rotarians who have the biggest impact through their service aren’t always the women and men with the greatest resources, the most experience, or the largest networks. They’re the ones who are inspired. Whether it was something they did, something they saw, or someone they met, they’ve all had experiences that lit them on fireand inspired them to serve. The metaphor of Rotary leadership as a relay race is one we use often, as it so aptly expresses the nature of Rotary office. Yet Rotary leadership is not an individual, but a team sport. You and I, and all of your fellow leaders, enter this Rotary year together, as part of a team. We share the same goal: a world transformed by Rotary service, one project, one club, one community at a time. This year, I ask each of you not only to seek that inspiration within yourselves, but toBe the Inspiration for others. Lead with passion, lead by example-and lead Rotary to a future even stronger than its present.
You and I, and every district governor, club president, and Rotary officer around the world, have been chosen this Rotary year. We’ve been chosen by our fellow Rotarians, who believed that we were the best people to do the work that now lies before us. In the twelve months ahead, I intend to work as hard as I can, as well as I can, and I know that you will do the same. We are all in this together-and together, we will Be the Inspiration. Yours in Rotary,
Strong leadership, inspiration, and vision are critical to the successful performance. ~ RIP Barry J. Rassin

Message from District Governor
You have in your hand first issue of Governor’s monthly letter, It is beyond certain that since the conception of the Rotary fraternity that the ideals of ‘Fellowship’ have been our wayfaring North Star.
District Governor 2018-19 Irfan Qureshi
Over a century ago, Paul Harris’ cardinal endeavor was to bring together a group of select individuals, grounded in their moral compass, their tempered ambition, their entrepreneurial drive and their good characters, and instill within them the honour, nay, privilege, of ‘Service Above Self’. Fellow Rotarians! Rotary is not merely a fraternity Rotary is a way of life. The Four-Way-Test is not a slogan; it is a guiding principle. In his inauguration address, Rotary International President Barry Rasin reiterated the emphasis on the inclusion and participation of all members, particularly our younger Rotarians, the Women in Rotary and our Rotaractors. To that end, a constantly fervent induction of Rotaractors and Interactors has to become the norm. In doing so, we only strengthen the foundations of our unique philanthropy for countless years to come. This year’s theme,‘Be The Inspiration’ galvanizes us to do just that - it tasks upon us the importance of perpetuating our ethos to everyone around us, especially our contemporary counterparts. Ralph Emerson once said,“The [highest] purpose of life is not [merely] to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to have it make some difference that you have lived…and lived well.” Once again, I wish each and every one of you - an opportune, successful and triumphant Rotary Year 2018-19.
“Friendship was the foundation rock on which Rotary was built and tolerance is the element which holds it together.” - My Road to Rotary ~ Paul Harris
