FCC MISAWA FAMILY CHILD CARE 2262273 MONDAYFRIDAY | 7:30 A.M.4:30 P.M. 35FSS.FSYF.MISAWAFCC@US.AF.MIL

WHAT IS AN N FCC PROV VID DER? FCC providers are certified child care professionals who provide child care for children from infancy until school age in their homes. On Misawa Air Base FCC providers can only provide care on base. FCC providers typically offer a flexible schedule to support parents with a variety of care needs including full-day, part-day, school year, summer camp, and in some cases, 24/7 and extended care.

HOW DO FCC PROVIDERS SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY, AND WHY WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE PEOPLE TO BECOME FCC PROVIDERS? |||||| RECRUITING FOR NEW FCC PROVIDERS

*Basic requirements Applicants must be 18+, possess a high school diploma or GED, and be able to proficiently read and write in English.

POTENTIAL INCOME FOR FCC PROVIDERS

Income depends on the number of children in care and the number of hours they are in care for the week. FCC providers can earn as much as $60,000 a year. This amount is a combination of both parent fees and the Air Force FCC Extended Child Care Subsidy program. Some FCC providers can even earn more depending on location and the type of care provided: 24/7, military spouse appointment, PCS, hourly, before and after school, Emergency Medical and other applicable care.

SUPPORT PROVIDED TO FCC PROVIDERS New FCC providers are given a 40-hour free training week. Child care will be provided for free for applicants with children in another FCC provider home. FCC providers have access to a toy lending library, where they can use toys for their FCC business and change out the toys for different ones as needed. Most safety items will be provided (i.e. First Aid Kit, cabinet latches, gates, etc.) to safety proof the home and meet regulations. To help with questions or concerns we provide monthly home visits as well as monthly visits from the training specialist to help with children’s activities and curriculum. Providers who commit to providing care can participate in a Misawa housing incentive that would relocate the provider to a unit with two bathrooms and a yard.

HOW TO GET MORE INFORMATION

FCC BRIEFINGS

TUESDAYS June 7, Aug. 2, Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 25 and Dec. 20 WEDNESDAY July 6 | 6 p.m. Mokuteki Ballroom Applicants can ask questions about becoming an FCC provider as well as what to expect. It is highly recommended to bring your spouse along so they can be part of the process and ask questions. The goal is to start the FCC training week a few weeks after the FCC Informational briefing. 22 ⅼ

1. RECEIVER-DRIER

The receiver is a metal container that serves as a storage receptacle for the refrigerant. It’s also referred to as a drier because it absorbs moisture from the frigerant and filters out particles of debris and acids that would otherwise harm your AC system. Commonly located on the liquid line of the AC system, you should change your drier every three to four years to ensure quality filtration and prevent any damage caused by detrimental chemicals. Our machine vacuums and clears out any moisture in the system to ensure the receiver-drier is functioning properly.

2. COMPRESSOR

The compressor is a belt-driven device that derives its name from compressing refrigerant gas and transferring it into the condenser. While acting as a simple pump, the compressor is the core of your vehicle’s air conditioning system. Our machine checks the pressure output of the compressor to make sure it is operating properly.

3. CONDENSER

The condenser’s primary function is to cool the refrigerant. It is a heat dissipating apparatus that radiates heat released by compressed gasses and condenses them into high-pressure liquids. The location of your condenser depends on how new your car is. It is typically found at the front of the vehicle, directly in front of the engine cooling radiator. We make sure your cooling fan is operating properly and that the vanes in the condenser are clean and free of debris.

4. EVAPORATOR

The evaporator is designed to remove heat from the inside of your vehicle. We check the blower motors filter or cabin filter of your car to make sure it is working optimally. Lastly, lines and hoses are inspected by applying vacuums and dye to check for leaks.

PHILLIP “CHAD” “CHAD” MARTIN MARTIN

COMMANDER, 35TH FORCE SUPPORT SQUADRON Lieutenant Colonel Martin has been an integral part of the Misawa community! He commanded 561 personnel and oversaw 45 facilities that provided services and programming to 11,000 people. During his tenure, he directed actions that added 27 additional CDC slots and recruited eight Family Child Care (FCC) providers to take care of our #1 assets, our children. He also implemented the vision and execution of the $25 million Campus Plan that is expected to improve the quality of life for Misawa residents over the next two years. This plan will modernize dining, shopping, and experiences at FSS facilities by creating a mall-like concept. During the pandemic, Lt Col Martin directed 24-hour contingency operations that safely housed 1,500 individuals in ROM and isolation. Additionally, he forged a new path as he instituted the first overseas Campus Dining System, expanding dining options to our enlisted meal card holders at five FSS locations. These are just a few of the many ways his leadership has impacted our lives since taking command. The Misawa Air Base community is extremely grateful to Lt Col Martin. We wish him, his wife Amanda and their three children all the best as they move to their new duty station.
