The Byzantine and Christian Museum The Byzantine and Christian Museum, which is based in Athens, is one of Greece’s national museums. Its areas of competency focus on – but not limit to – religious artefacts of the Early Christian, Byzantine, Medieval, post-Byzantine and later periods that are exhibited. It also acquires, receives, preserves, conserves, records, documents, researches, studies, publishes and raises general awareness. The museum has over 25,000 artefacts in its possession. The artefacts date between the 3rd and century AD, and their provenance encompasses the entire Greek world, as well as regions where Hellenism flourished. The size and range of the collections and value of the exhibits make the Museum a veritable treasury of Byzantine and post-Byzantine art and culture. A “royal walk” around the National Garden of Athens The National Garden is open to the public from sunrise to sunset. The main entrance is on Amalias Avenue, the street named after the Queen who envisioned this park. You can also enter the garden from one of three other gates: the central one, on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue, another on Herodou Attikou Street and the third gate connects the National Garden with the Zappeion park area. In the National Garden you will have the opportunity to relax by the duck pond or in other various spots of the park, visit the Botanical Museum or even visit the Children’s Library & playground. Apart from that, it is an excellent destination for your morning exercise and jogging.


Psirri The neighborhood of Psirri is arty and bohemian, with old and new points of interest side by side. Old fashioned artisans workshops, hidden alleys, counter culture and alternative spaces, street art, popular bars and traditional restaurants, coexist in harmony, creating a fascinating atmosphere full of surprises. The young crowd loves it and keeps the nightlife busy. Shopping is an exciting experience in Psirri. Monastiraki - Giusurum Stroll around the most colorful neighborhood of Athens Monastiraki is a flea market neighborhood in the old town of Athens that extends from the Monastiraki square at the end of Athinas Street until Thission. The main flea market of Athens is at Abyssinia’s square at the end of Hephaestus Street. Along Hephaestus Street visitors will find mainly various shoe shops, clothing shops and music stores. In the same street within the arcades there are some good second hand book stores. Do not miss to taste the famous souvlaki kebab at Thanassis restaurant.
