Wednesday, November 7 • 8:30am – 10:00am • PALOMINO D [BOMI=1.5CPDs; IDCEC=0.1CEU; AAA=1.5 SR] The City of Calgary has experienced substantial population growth over the years. This increase in population has put more demand on public infrastruc ture, specifically roads and transit. In an effort to meet the mobility demands of Calgarians and in turn reduce the dependency on vehicles, the City of Calgary is taking steps to improve the existing transit system through Transit Oriented Development (TOD) planning and policies. What makes TOD work? Why is it important to implement TOD success fully? How is the City promoting it and how are Developers building it? This panel will look at how the City is working with developers to enhance transit station areas and what some developers are proposing given these opportunities.

Wednesday, November 7 • 11:00am – 12:30pm • PALOMINO F [BOMI=1.5CPDs; IDCEC=0.1CEU; AAA=1.5 SR] The Calgary International Airport has embarked on the largest expansion in its history. Currently under construction and on schedule to open in 2015, the $1.4B International Facilities Project will provide all new arrivals and de partures facilities for international travelers as well as a new 300 room airside hotel and conference facility. The project will double the size the existing terminal, incorporates state of the art sustainable design measures and initi ates a new to North America “Call to Gate” air terminal design concept that improves overall efficiency and passenger experience. A multi-disciplined global consultant team has been working since 2007 to ensure the IFP’s successful delivery. However, the planning, design, and delivery of a project of this scale and complexity is never without challen ges. Examples include building one of the largest BIM models in Canada to date, developing new design concepts that allow for significant reductions in land use, and constructing a building over three quarters of a kilometer long in the middle of an operating air terminal and a major runway expan sion project. This session will provide a comprehensive view of the IFP design, highlight the most innovative design features, provide insight into some of the chal lenges met by the collective design and give a current update on its progress.

Your team becomes what you al ways knew it could be - one of a kind, defying comparison. You will learn how to: • Move your organization’s customer service culture to the next level • Empower employees to make better choices; both for customers and for the organization • Boost productivity and morale by tapping into the #1 employee motiv ator (hint: it isn’t money or recognition) • Eliminate most of the people problems that divert energy from the real task of satisfying customers Leading a Customer-Focused Team gets to the core of customer service — the organization’s underlying service and sales culture. Unlike other ap proaches that merely focus on surface behaviours, this addresses the root cause. As Jeff puts it, “If you try to enhance service and sales behaviours with out looking at the culture, you are just painting over rust — the underlying problems eventually reoccur.” To address this, he developed a model that merely takes 90 minutes a month, and creates the kind of service and sales culture that’s so powerful that you become the industry Service Icon.

PM AD CO PD

Tuesday, November 6 • 12:30pm – 2:00pm • PALOMINO E [BOMI=1.5CPDs; IDCEC=0.1CEU; AAA=1.5 CO] Colour is the most valuable tool you can use to set the mood in any design. Understanding how colour, colour contrast, and the elements of design work together to create mood is the key to being able to create rooms with mood and style. Kate Smith will explain how and why people react to colour. You may be amazed to find that your colour intuition has deep Kate Smith basis in research, history, and even culture, where one colour can have vastly different meanings across societies. This overview of colour messages and meanings will give you a new perspective on the general re sponses to colour that can affect the colour schemes you create. Then you will discover how colour in a living space evokes mood and emo tion both consciously or unconsciously. Smith will show you how to over come the challenge of effectively using colour and design to express a mood by understanding how viewers perceive and react to the overall scheme. You will learn how to incorporate psychology, physiology, meanings, and symbol ism into your colour schemes in a way that infuses your designs with feeling. You will leave the workshop with a thorough understanding of how to use colour to set the mood along with a tips sheet that list the elements that cre ate the 8 moods most often requested by your clients.

What if you knew the secrets used by the world’s most successful salespeople? This seminar will uncover 15 rules that will change how you Randy Hnatko think and feel about sales, increasing your selling success. What you will learn: • How to conduct yourself in selling situations so you get orders or get out. • How to control the selling process by directing your prospect’s behaviour. • Why prospect’s lie and what questions will uncover the truth you need. • When it’s wrong to do research or prepare a proposal a prospect asks for. • Why jumping to do a favour for a customer spoils your relationship.

Presenter: Kate Smith, Colour Expert, Author, Speaker, Chief Colour Maven and President, Sensational Color (New York)

Wednesday, November 7 • 11:00am – 1:00pm • PALOMINO A [BOMI=2.0CPDs; AAA=2.0 SR] One of the major keys to successful selling is to maintain control of the sales process. This event is for presidents, owners and entrepreneurs who are searching for solutions to the business obstacles they face when trying to sell, manage a sales team, and grow business in this tough economy. The topics covered will include the greatest barriers to growing sales in this economy, why these things occur and some insights into how to overcome them. What you will learn: • How prospects gain the upper hand on you during the sales process. • Why traditional sales approaches turn you into an unpaid consultant. • How prospects use your proposals to negotiate better deals elsewhere. • Why most prospecting methods are ineffective. • Why your challenges with Time Management might actually be some thing else.

Everline Coatings – Booth 403 TBL Durables - A revolution in line marking technology

The Cascadia Clip system is a fiberglass thermal spacer, designed to separate girts from the back-up wall, providing effective insulation values of over 90% of the nominal values. • R-15.7 Effective - Just 4” Mineral Wool • Twice The R-Value of Steel Girts • Cost Savings vs. Any Similar Performance Walls • Four sizes: 3.5”, 4”, 5, and 6” • Use With Non-Combustible Walls • Minimize Wall Thickness • ASHRAE 90.1 Prescriptive Compliance

Due to new federal legislation – the line painting industry is forced to switch to latex paint which is half-as-durable and will require double the applications and costs to property managers. EverLine Coatings has the solution with a much more cost effective and durable line marking product. TBL DURABLES is a sprayable liquid used for traffic markings that cures in 5–10 minutes creating a hard plastic that is more resistant to wear and provides greater reflectivity than any other product on the market. TBL DURABLES is also the most environmentally friendly product available today; three times cleaner than water-based paint and ten times cleaner than oil-based paint. This makes it the clear choice for property management companies trying to meet environmentally friendly standards. Property managers and business owners realize a 20–30% savings over three years.

Durabuilt Strikes Again With Another Industry First Master the elements with Durabuilt’s 5 Seal Defense System. Exclusively featured in Durabuilt’s redesigned Hybrid Collection, the Hybridex 920 and Tri-Bridex 960, are the industry’s first and only window series to feature 5 seals over the standard 3. This innovative design is proven to deliver the functionality of an operating casement, with the energy efficiency and performance of a fixed window. Like a shield of armour, the 5 Seal Defense System prevents air and water leakage in areas traditionally vulnerable to Mother Nature’s wrath.
