Bill Tucker CEO

Omicron Canada Bill Tucker is Chief Executive Officer of Omicron Canada Inc., a 200-person integrated development, design and construction firm with offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Victoria. As one of Western Canada’s largest design-builders, Omicron provides turnkey solutions to clients in the Retail, Institutional, Commercial, Industrial, Residential, Oil and Gas and Mixed-Use sectors. Bill is responsible for heading the business through strategic acquisitions, organic expansion, business development and client partnering. Omicron completed over $300 million in projects and development transactions in the past year. Bill graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from UBC and completed an MBA at Queen’s University in 2000. He is also a registered professional engineer in the province of British Columbia. Bill began his career as a consulting engineer. His early career positions included Business Development Manager with Dominion Construction and Vancouver Branch Manager with Johnson Controls. In 2000 Bill joined Omicron as a Principal of the firm and became Managing Principal in 2004 and CEO in 2010. Mr. Achtemichuk is a Managing Director and VP at CMLS Financial where he is responsible for the mortgage valuation and analytics business and providing insights on the Canadian mortgage market. Mr. Achtemichuk spent the early part of his career with KPMG LLP in both Vancouver and Los Angeles, providing audit and M&A advisory services to private and publicly traded companies. He has also held a senior executive position with a Western Canadian real estate developer and has provided financial advisory services to a variety of public and private companies in the real estate and resource sectors through a consulting firm he established 2007. Mark is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.

Tony Astles is the Executive Vice President at Bentall Kennedy with responsibilities for Real Estate Services (Development, Leasing and Operations) in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba, Canada. Prior to joining Bentall Kennedy, Tony worked in executive and senior positions at several companies including Cushman & Wakefield (formerly Royal LePage), and a previous term at Bentall, and at Campeau Corp. Tony holds a degree from the University of Guelph with specialization in Economics and English. Tony currently serves as a Director on the Urban Development Institute (UDI) of British Columbia, and is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) District Council Advisory Board of British Columbia. Mr. Bosa is a Managing Director and Head of the Canadian Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Canaccord Genuity Corp., based in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Bosa joined Canaccord Genuity Corp. in 2000. Lorne Burns returned to KPMG’s Vancouver Audit practice in October 2009 after spending 11 years in Toronto. Lorne has resumed his role as an audit partner in Vancouver’s Real Estate Practice. He was appointed National Industry Leader, Real Estate in March 2011 and Real Estate leader for the GVA. He has 30 years of experience with KPMG and has been a partner in the firm for 20 of those years. From 1999 to 2003, Lorne served as a member of KPMG Canada’s Management Committee as the Chief Human Resources Officer, KPMG Canada. Lorne was responsible for all aspects of KPMG’s Excellence in People strategic initiatives and for leading the national human resource management function. He was also a member of KPMG’s Global Human Resource Steering Group.

Prior to establishing Premise Properties, Avtar spent over 30 years at Colliers International, most recently as Executive Vice President. Neil Chrystal is President and Chief Executive Officer of Polygon Homes Ltd., one of British Columbia’s leading home builders. The company has built over 23,500 homes in Metro Vancouver since it was founded in 1980, and received numerous awards for its integrity and building excellence. Mr. Chrystal was educated at the University of British Columbia. After graduating from the Urban Land Economics program, he joined Polygon in 1987. Working his way through several key positions with the Company, he was appointed President in 2003. He currently manages all aspects of Polygon’s homebuilding activities and oversees the planning and direction for Polygon’s land acquisition, and sales and marketing groups. Neil is also serving on the Board of the Urban Development Institute and has previously served as UDI President. An advocate of team sports, and a father of three children, Mr. Chrystal is actively involved in the community.

Dan Clark is co-owner of Sitings Realty based in Vancouver, BC. Sitings is a leader in the retail tenant representation and the shopping centre project leasing business in Western Canada. Sitings has worked with many tenants on their site selection process across Western Canada, Ontario and Atlantic Canada. Some of these tenants include Nike, David’s Bridal, Michaels, Darden Restaurant Group, Reitmans Group, Dollar Giant, Dollar Tree, Panera Bread, 7-Eleven, Aarons, Coast Wholesale Appliances, MTY, Noodlebox, and Westland Insurance. Sitings has also acted as the exclusive listing agent on many new shopping centre developments in British Columbia and Alberta with a specialization in power centre, mixed use, grocery anchored and transportation oriented developments. These projects include Metropolitan Towers, Millstream Village, Nordel Crossing, Langley Power Centre I,II,III, Harbour Front Centre, Northgate Village, Century, Touchstone, Wesbrook Village, The Plaza @ New Westminster Station, and Garibaldi Village. Combining tenant representation and project leasing Dan has leased more than 2,500,000 square feet of retail space.

Rob joined Colliers’ Office Division in 1989 and is a Senior Vice President. He is an office specialist, primarily focused on large project leasing/sales and tenant mandate assignments in various Metro Vancouver markets. Rob has been responsible for the leasing of several suburban business parks in his career, including the marketing of Willingdon Park for 13 years. His current major leasing assignments include more transit oriented, mixed-use developments such as Marine Gateway in South Vancouver and King George Station in Surrey. Rob is also involved in the marketing of strata office product in Metrotown and the new City Centre 1 strata office project in Central Surrey.

Ivanhoe Cambridge Ron has been in the shopping centre industry for more than 22 years, 21 of those with Ivanhoe Cambridge. He began his career in property management assuming various roles in a number of Lower Mainland shopping centres. He made the jump to leasing in 1997, first with Schroeder Properties and since that time in progressive roles with Ivanhoe Cambridge. He has presided over the retail leasing programs for numerous enclosed shopping centres and retail redevelopment projects in Western Canada, including the redevelopment and consolidation of Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby in 2004, the expansion of Southcentre in Calgary in 2008 and the expansion of Southgate Centre, in Edmonton in 2009. In his current capacity as Vice President of Leasing with Ivanhoe Cambridge, Ron oversees the leasing efforts for nine of the companies managed retail assets in Western Canada representing approximately 6.5 million square feet.

Bart is Cushman & Wakefield’s top producing Tenant Representative for the Metro Vancouver market and one of only 12 Canadian brokers in the C&W Hall of Fame. As Senior Vice President, his strengths lie in his diversity and wide knowledge of both the suburban and downtown core markets. Bart completed his Bachelor of Commerce in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia and joined Cushman & Wakefield Ltd. in 1990. His 23 years of experience with the company has enabled him to create strong working relationships with landlords and brokers. Mr. Corbett sat on the Board of the Vancouver NAIOP chapter for 12 years and has acted in a volunteer capacity as an advisor to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Canada and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Vancouver.

As Leasing Manager across the office and industrial sectors at Wesgroup, Rob is responsible for the leasing of new project developments as well as the leasing performance of Wesgroup’s existing income producing portfolio of over 2.3 million square feet. Rob joined Wesgroup in 2007 and has completed over 1.3m square feet of new lease, renewal and build to suit transactions. Rob has built specific expertise in dealing with the complex nature of institutional organisations. Over 75% of Wesgroup’s office portfolio is made up of institutional tenants such as Fraser Health, Translink, ICBC and the Government of Canada and stretches across the markets of Vancouver, North Vancouver, Richmond, New Westminster and Langley. Rob graduated with a Business Management degree from the University of Nottingham before moving to Canada in 2007 to start a career in commercial real estate.

PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES Paul Finkbeiner President

GWL Realty Advisors Paul Finkbeiner is President of GWL Realty Advisors Inc., one of Canada’s largest real estate investment advisors and a wholly owned subsidiary of Great-West Life Assurance Company. Paul is responsible for the overall management and growth of GWL Realty Advisors’ $16 billion real estate portfolio, including strategic direction, business development, asset and property management and specialized real estate advisory services. Paul has over 25 years experience in the real estate industry, and previously worked for Trizec Corporation, Brookfield Properties and Trilea Shopping Centres. Paul is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, and is a Past Director of the REALpac. Paul is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization/WPO and a Director on the Habitat for Humanity Toronto Advisory Board. Paul holds a Master of Applied Science degree from Queen’s University and a Master of Business Administration degree from McGill University.

Jock Finlayson Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer

Business Council of British Columbia Jock Finlayson is Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer at the Business Council of British Columbia, an organization representing 260 large and mid-size BC companies and affiliated industry associations that together account for approximately onequarter of all jobs in the province. In this capacity he directs the Council’s work on economic, fiscal, tax, environmental, regulatory and human capital issues of interest to the province’s business community. Mr. Finlayson previously served as Vice President of Research at Canadian Council of Chief Executives, a leading national business association in Ottawa. Prior to that he worked in the market research field and gained experience at two Canadian consulting firms. Mr. Finlayson holds a master’s degree in business from Yale University, undergraduate and M.A. degrees from UBC, and a post-graduate degree in economics from the University of London. He is the author/co-author of two books and more than 40 published articles and book chapters, mainly dealing with international trade and various topics in the area of Canadian public policy. A frequent commentator on economic, business, and public affairs issues, he writes regularly for the Vancouver Sun, Troy Media, and a number of other media outlets and is a regular economics and business panelist on CBC Radio’s “Early Edition” program.

Kevan Gorrie was recently named President of Pure Industrial Real Estate Trust, where he will be responsible for leading the organization through its next phase of growth. Prior to joining PIRET, Kevan led the Industrial business for a major Canadian pension fund, focusing primarily on acquisitions and asset management. Kevan has been involved with the Canadian real estate industry for over 15 years, and is a graduate of the Civil Engineering program at the University of Toronto.

Based in Toronto, Sonya Gulati joined the TD Economics department in 2010. Prior to joining TD, Sonya worked as a senior economist in the public sector, at both the provincial and federal level, for five years. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, a Masters of Arts degree in Economics from McMaster University, and a Masters of Business Administration at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Sonya’s chief responsibilities include analyzing government finances and evaluating public policy. As a Senior Economist, Sonya regularly provides economic commentary to the media. She also frequently travels across the country to give presentations to TD clients, business units, and external organizations.

David Goodman Founder

The Goodman Report As the founder of the Goodman Report, David oversees the vision and direction of the team and functions as a zealous spokesperson and advocate for property owners and investors in the Vancouver area. This tenacity, coupled with extensive experience and knowledge of the real estate market, has allowed him to be recognized as a respected authority on the apartment building and development industry. David Goodman was born in Montreal and attended Sir George Williams University before moving to British Columbia in 1971, where a year later he became active in Vancouver real estate. David was awarded Top 10 Status with Block Brothers (NRS) nine times over a twenty-two year period and was recognized as the top company salesperson in 1979. His sales excellence continues today at HQ Real Estate Services where he has consistently achieved number one sales status. Always striving towards enhancing his craft, David pioneered the practice of newsletters for multifamily building owners in 1983. The Goodman Report, then a print newsletter focused on the apartment industry, has now evolved into a fully integrated email and print apartment news and marketing platform that has positioned David and his son Mark as authorities on apartment building sales in BC and across Canada. Since 1983, David has specialized in the marketing and sale of over 500 apartment buildings. David’s apartment clients include local owners, off-shore families and institutional investors.

GWL Realty Advisors Rob joined GWL Realty Advisors in 2001 and since June 2004 he has taken primary responsibility for the British Columbia region, overseeing all asset management, property management and leasing activities. He has a significant role in establishing asset, development and portfolio strategies for the office, industrial and retail portfolios. Between December 2001 and June 2004, Rob led the Ottawa Region for GWL Realty Advisors and was responsible for all aspects of Asset and Property Management, Leasing and Development. Previously between 1994 and 2001 Rob worked with Slough Estates Canada Limited where he oversaw the development of approximately 2.6 million square feet of industrial and office properties in Toronto and Vancouver. Rob started his career in commercial property appraisal and is an Accredited Appraiser (A.A.C.I.) with the Appraisal Institute of Canada. Aubrey Kelly joined SCDC in 2009 as Vice President Construction and Development, became Chief Operating Officer in 2012, and became President & CEO in 2014. Aubrey has twenty years of experience in the development industry, including 5 years building humanitarian projects in Mexico.

Tom is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Cadillac Fairview’s real estate portfolio in Western Canada which includes 4,700,000 square feet of office space in Vancouver and Calgary, and five large regional shopping centres. Tom has been with Cadillac Fairview for twelve years, having spent time with both Ivanhoe Cambridge and Sun Life prior to joining CF. He is actively involved in the Vancouver real estate community, and is a past president of both NAIOP Vancouver and BOMA BC. Tom is a lifelong resident of British Columbia, and is married with three children.

Bentall Kennedy (Canada) LP Jeff has worked in various facets of the Vancouver commercial real estate market since the late 1980’s, having previously obtained a B Comm from the University of BC, majoring in Urban Land Economics. He has been with Bentall Kennedy for almost 10 years, and has concluded hundreds of lease transactions of various sizes and complexity. He currently has direct leasing responsibility for approx 2 million sf of office buildings (eight of which are in downtown Vancouver, including Bentall 5) and overall responsibility for roughly 4M sf of office and industrial premises, pedominantly in Metro Vancouver. Prior to joining Bentall, Jeff spent 10 years with GWL Realty Advisors in Asset Management (overseeing their BC Office and Industrial portfolios) and Acquisitions (with direct involvement in approx $400M of transactions). Previous to GWL, Jeff spent a combined 5 years in Vancouver commercial brokerage (Knowlton Realty) and appraisal (Cumberland Consultants). Jeff is active outside the office coaching both minor hockey (with the Vancouver Thunderbirds Minor Hockey Association) and Little League baseball (with Kerrisdale Little League), and enjoys playing hockey, running and swimming in his free time.

Kevin is the President and CEO of Wesbild Holdings Ltd. Prior to Wesbild, Kevin was the President of Future Shop when it was purchased from Inwest Investments (Wesbild’s parent company) by Best Buy Co. Inc. in 2001. He remained in his post as President after the closing and was responsible for the integration with Best Buy. He led the team responsible for building out the Best Buy banner across Canada using the standalone infrastructure of Future Shop while simultaneously growing the Future Shop banner. Kevin went on to become the COO of Best Buy International with responsibility of expanding Best Buy in Canada, Mexico, England, Turkey & China before leaving to join Wesbild. Kevin was also the chairman of Retail Council of Canada and served on the board for 8 years. He was on the Lower Mainland’s 2008 United Way Campaign Cabinet for the Retail and Services Group as well as the Co-Chair for the 2010 United Way Campaign Cabinet. He currently serves on the Board of UDI, Pacific Region and Golfsmith International Inc..

Ledingham McAllister Properties Ward McAllister is President and CEO of Ledingham McAllister Properties Ltd., a Vancouver-based real estate development firm with three successful divisions involved in development and construction of shopping centres, wood frame low-rise and concrete high-rise multi-family housing and senior’s projects. He served for three consecutive terms as President of the Urban Development Institute-Pacific Region before being appointed President of UDI Canada for a two year term. Mr. McAllister continues to serve as a Director and Past President on both of these boards. Mr. McAllister was born and educated in Vancouver. He actively serves on several community and industry boards and committees, is considered a chief spokesman for housing and real estate development related matters with all levels of government and has received many awards and mentions for his contribution to the development industry over the past thirty years.

Cameron Muir is a well known economist and housing market expert. He joined the British Columbia Real Estate Association as Chief Economist in 2006 and since that time he has built the economics department from the ground up providing objective analysis, research and regular forecasts of the economy, housing and real estate, and mortgage interest rates. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Business Economists and the Association of Professional Economists of BC. He is also a member of the BC government’s Economic Forecast Council.

Gino Nonni has over 30 years of experience in acquisitions, corporate real estate operations, and development. Gino’s background includes 17 years at Colliers International running the Investment and Industrial Division for Vancouver. Gino then held the position of President of Wesgroup for 12 years where he oversaw the operation and management of the company’s asset and development growth strategy. Presently, Gino is the Owner and President of privately held Serracan Properties. Serracan is an investor, owner, and developer of residential, commercial and industrial real estate with a portfolio of over 750,000 sq.ft. under ownership and development.

Cameron McNeill has been marketing multi-family real estate developments since 1992. Before founding MAC Marketing Solutions in 2001 at the age of 30, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Onni and Amacon. In 2013, Mr. O’Neill cofounded American Hotel Income Properties (AHIP) REIT in 2013, and is now CEO and Director of the TSX listed AHIP. AHIP has been the TSX’s most successful REIT IPO in the last year, based on total return. Mr. O’Neill is also Chairman of O’Neill Hotels and Resorts (OHR) in partnership with his brother John who serves as CEO. OHR currently manages over 40 hotels in the US and Canada, and is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2014. In 1997, Rob was the co-founder of Canadian Hotel Income Properties, REIT (CHIP REIT) and served as its initial President and CEO. Rob was also a co-founder of the Coast Hotel chain in 1972.
