Artiste allemande qui vit et travaille à Berlin, Natalie Czech produit des photographies au réalisme poétique, des œuvres silencieuses et narratives qui inspirent une gamme couleurs affirmée. Des couleurs en mélanges travaillés artistiquement pour des montures multicolores à forte personnalité esthétique. Natalie Czech is a German artist who lives and works in Berlin. Her photographs have a poetic realism and are silent narrative works which inspire a pronounced colour palette. These blended colours are worked artistically to create multicoloured frames with a strong individual aesthetic. La mode est changeante, c’est même sa raison d’être. Le design des lunettes s’inscrit dans des mouvements de mode erratiques, mais à des rythmes moins rapides. Pour les designers, le radicalisme des lignes fait souvent place à une nouvelle vision de l’existant dans une volonté de changement dans la continuité. Ils n’oublient pas que l’ergonomie d’une paire de lunettes est aussi importante que son style, donc tout est une question d’équilibre. Actuellement, quatre formes majeures émergent : Octagonal, Square, Egg et Cat’Eye, à suivre dans le détail. Fashion shifts and changes and, in fact, this is its very raison d’être. Eyewear design follows erratic fashion trends and these trends move at a slower pace. For designers, radical lines often give way to a new vision of existing design as part of a desire to ensure both change and continuity. They do not forget that the ergonomics of a pair of glasses is as important as its style, meaning that everything is a question of balance. There are currently four major styles: Octagonal, Square, Egg and Cat’s Eye. Here’s a more detailed description of each style.

Lignes douces, non acérées, ni anguleuses, une géométrie contemporaine facile à porter, moins radicale que le carrée, moins ennuyeuse que le rectangle.

Quadrilatère régulier, le carré dévoile sa symétrie et sa régularité tendues aux quatre angles, une géométrie qui s’adapte à des montures plus arrondies, moins anguleuses.

Soft rather than sharp or angular lines, an easyto-wear contemporary shape, which is less radical than square edges and more interesting than rectangular ones.

A regular quadrangle, square frames are symmetrical and regular with four angles, and the shape also works well with rounder and less angular frames.

Forme iconique de la lunette depuis les années 50, l’œil de chat a un petit parfum rétro qui se modernise par des lignes franches pour ne pas altérer la forme originelle qui séduit par son esthétique tendue.

The ultimate ideal shape, with no beginning or end, an egg shape has a universal feel perfectly suited to the human eye, and egg frames are replacing aviator frames with a dash of modernity, while remaining classic.

An iconic form of eyewear since the 1950s, the cat’s eye shape has an ever so slightly retro feel, brought up to date by its marked lines, without altering the original shape, which is attractive because of its taut look.

ROMAN CIESLEWICZ (1930-1996) WAS A POLISH PICTURE COLLECTOR AND IS KNOWN FOR HIS POSTERS AND ILLUSTRATIONS USING COLLAGES OF PHOTOS AND MOTIFS. THE MUSEUM OF DECORATIVE ARTS IN PARIS HAS PUT ON A RETROSPECTIVE OF HIS IMMENSE AND INTELLECTUALLYSTIMULATING WORK. HE DEFINED HIS WORK AS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER AS BEING A «TRAFFIC CONTROLLER OF THE RETINA» FIGHTING «VISUAL POLLUTION» CAUSED BY AN INVASION OF IMAGES WITHOUT SHAPE OR SUBSTANCE. THE EYES AND THE GAZE WERE EVER PRESENT IN HIS PHOTOMONTAGES AND THE EXHIBITION IS THE CHANCE TO PAY HIM AN INSPIRED TRIBUTE BY SHOWCASING A SELECTION OF HIS WORKS WITH AN OVERALL THEME.

Les montures sont des architectures pures ou complexes, elles sont construites avec précision en métal, acétate, ou en mélange de matériaux sophistiqués. Les lunettes sont alors comme un building, elles dévoilent un « geste architectural » pour flatter l’œil et dans le même temps, elles répondent à des normes ergonomiques pour un usage quotidien, un confort absolu. Frames are pure or complex forms of architecture and are precisely manufactured using metal, acetate or combinations of sophisticated materials. Glasses are very similar to buildings and have an «architectural flourish» to flatter the eye and at the same time meet ergonomic requirements for everyday usage and total comfort.

Notre environnement est surpeuplé de photos numériques, amateurs et professionnelles, qui s’empilent dans les clouds et déferlent sur les écrans. En 1985, l’artiste conceptuelle Barbara Kruger a signé un photomontage sur lequel on pouvait lire : « Help ! I’m Locked Inside this picture » (A l’aide ! Je suis prisonnière de cette image), symbole de la pression des flux er reflux d’images qui s’exerce sur nous. Dans cette logique, l’iconographie publicitaire de l’univers optique cherche à la fois à entrer dans le cadre, et dans le même temps à sortir du portrait trop normé.

Our environment is overcrowded with both amateur and pro digital photos which are piling up in digital clouds and flashing by on screens. In 1985, the conceptual artist Barbara Kruger created a photomontage on which the following text was displayed: «Help! I’m Locked Inside this Picture» to symbolize the pressure of the ebb and flow of images on us. Following this ethos, the advertising images used by the optics industry seek to both fit within the set framework and, at the same time, move away from overly standardised portraits.
