Editor’s Note Congratulations. With this issue we have reached the release of out 6th issue. At the beginning of July we reached 1000 twitter followers (@moccamag) are we’re currently 150 followers away from the 2000 follower mark. Digital views continue to grow every month. At this time, I want to say “Thank You”! We at Mocca Magazine would not have reached this point without each and every one of you continuing to believe in our little magazine. We look forward to continuing to expand on our platform. We’re currently working on solutions to provide a print edition of the magazine that will be available in select areas. Sex and the Single Man Sex is a very common occurrence. Someone is probably having sex right now while you’re reading this. It is very natural for men to want to engage in sexual activity. Many woke up this morning from a sexual encounter the night before. For gay men, the odds of sexual activity are much higher than there heterosexual counterparts. Society normally tells men to have sex whenever you can while women are told that they should be very virtuous and not engage in sex randomly. Men are normally told to have as much sex as possible. So when you get two males together there are no social restraints keeping them from engaging in sex. Normally sexual attraction and opportunity are the only things needed for a sexual encounter to occur. In this day and age, there are so many different ways for men to find sex. Men can go to bar and clubs to find sexual partners. They can also find sex in private sex clubs and adult video stores. Most cities have areas where male prostitutes can be found. Some take things to the extreme. News reports are filled with men being caught in public parks and public restrooms. Men risk reputation and sometimes their marriages for a casual sexual escapade. Many men in committed relationships still find the need to find pleasure outside of their relationships. Check out popular websites like Men4now.com and Adam4Adam.com and you will find men in committed relationships and marriages looking for discreet hook-ups. These same men can be found on popular mobile applications like Grindr and Jack’d. Chatlines are still available for men to call in and find sexual partners. Craigslist is filled with male escorts 9
Sex and the Single Man looking to share some time with you. Most male adult entertainers also escort on the side. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Men in relationships have no problem finding justification for stepping outside of these relationships. But sex has gotten very risky in the wake of HIV/AIDS. Sex used to be something you could do in the dark and no one but you and your partner would ever know. But now, casual sex can leave you with a parting gift that cannot be returned or exchanged. We now live in a world where asking someone their HIV status is commonplace in sexual encounters. More and more cases of other sexually transmitted diseases like Gonorrhea and Syphilis are being reported each and every year. Why does the opportunity for sex enable these men to risk everything for it? Ask 10 different men and you might get 10 different answers. Many are looking for variety. Some are seeking out the sex that they are not supposed to be indulging in. Some just want sex however and from whomever they can get it from. Many men are masterful at separating the emotional and physical elements of sex. They can maintain a relationship of marriage and continue to find different sexual partners. But what has all of this easy access to sex done to the relationship. Many people are finding it hard to obtain and maintain a relationship. Due to feeling that there is a shortage of quality men (whatever that means) to start a relationship with, many men have resolved themselves to not finding relationships. A redefinition of monogamy Many men currently in relationships or venturing into a relationship have had to decide what being in a relationship means to their sex lives. Some feel that they should be monogamous to their partner. Some feel that stepping out every now and then is acceptable as long as their partner doesn’t find out. 10
Sex and the Single Man Some invite sexual partners into their established relationships with them and their partner. All of this ambiguousness in sex can lead to a lot of confusion within the relationship. The relationship can be built on a rocky foundation if these fundamentals are not agreed upon. It is very important for you to understand your feelings on the matter before you begin or continue a relationship with someone. Relationship vs. Sex. Many men believe that sex and relationship are two different things. That you can have sex with one person but be in a relationship with someone else. Men can be very good at this again because they are quick to separate their need for sex from the desires of their relationship. They can have sex outside of the relationship because they have no feelings for that person. Men do this very frequently. They can engage in casual sex at a local gym and then go home and snuggle up on the couch with their significant other. They can have cybersex with someone, turn of the computer, and get into bed with their spouse. So, it is very important for you to think about your sex life and how it affects your personal life. Also think about the person you plan to be in a relationship with. Defining what is acceptable activity for you and your partner. These boundaries need to be set and understood so that there are no misunderstandings within the relationship. We now live in an age where these things have to be discussed. You cannot assume that your partner will share the same ideas and values that you possess. And to maintain a healthy relationship, the subjects should always be open for discussion. We are evolving creatures and what works for us today might not work for us next year. Sex is a beautiful thing but it also requires a level of responsibility. Understanding your personal sex life and how to it affects others is key to maintaining your happiness. So, take some time to seriously think about your sex life and how it is affecting your life and goals for the future. If adjustments need to be made, don’t be afraid to make them. The end result will be your continued happiness and the ability to bring happiness to others around you.

Lonely Liars by Rafael Solece It is a known fact; people need people. We all like to pretend that we are all individuals; that we don't need anybody. We walk around wearing single like a badge of honor, pretending we are just fine being alone. The cold hard truth is that although, we may be rational and intelligent individuals who don't want to feel like we need anybody, all our rational individualism goes right out the window on a dreary, wet summer night. That is when our emotional selves take over and the loneliness sets in. If we were all severely honest with ourselves, we would happily admit our biggest fear on earth is that we are going to end up old and alone, with nobody who loves us. Truth be told, we all want someone special in our lives. Someone who is going to love us unconditionally. Someone we can grow old with. Someone to keep our beds warm at night. Someone to ring that bell. We all just want someone. The problem is some of us are just too afraid or too stubborn to admit it. We all just want to be loved. It's a constant phrase I hear. “Single and loving it”. Don't get me wrong. I totally believe that a person can be content being alone. But loving it, however, I doubt that. No one loves being single. If they did people wouldn't date or have sex. These are all pre-requisites to love and relationships and a person that loves the single life wouldn't do anything to disturb the peace and quiet of solitude. The truth is “single and loving it” is a big old lie that we tell ourselves so that we don't feel bad about the fact that we aren't in love, dating someone, or in a relationship. “Single and loving it” is the lie that lonely people tell themselves so that they don't feel lonely. Nobody is single and loving it. We all crave the affections of another person. We thrive off of it. If you put a person in a room alone for a week, most people can't handle it. They can't handle being alone. So why then do we tell ourselves such lies? Probably because none of us can really handle the truth. If we admitted to ourselves that we really needed someone, that we really desired to be loved, then that would show how vulnerable we are. Nobody wants to look weak or vulnerable. But wouldn't that be better than hiding behind fake certainty? Wouldn't that be better than lying about being happy? Especially, when the truth is that you aren't happy. When the truth is you are actually miserable. When the truth is, you would prefer to come home every day to a special someone who loves, appreciates, respects, and cares for you. Wouldn't that be better than faking the funk? I am single but I can tell you I ain't loving it. Don't get me wrong; I know how to be alone but just because I know how does not mean that I think being alone is better. On the contrary, I have had the alternative. Being in love with and having someone to love me is much better. I would much rather have someone in my life than not and that is a much better truth to tell. 17

After Trayvon Martin: Where do we go from here?
February 5,1995—February 26,2012
On February 26, 2012, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. At the time of the shooting, The Sanford police deemed that the shooting happened in self-defense and George Zimmerman was never arrested. He was questioned the night of the shooting and on the next day. This action by the Sanford police department was not well accepted by members of Trayvon Martin’s family and the people in the community. How could this have happened? Trayvon Martin was an unarmed teenager who had just recently traveled to the area to spend some time with his father. He had committed no crime. He had just walked to a neighborhood store. How could he now be dead and the person that shot him not have been arrested? The family and community leaders wanted answers. They held rallies calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman. Local and national news outlets ran the story. It became the new cause for Nancy Grace and Jane Velez-Mitchell. Rallies occurred in almost every major city. President Barack Obama even commented on this very issue. The justice department decided to examine the case to see if Mr. Martin’s civil rights were violated. On March 20, 2012, Florida Governor Rick Scott assigned state attorney 21

On Sunday February 26 2012, Trayvon Martin a 17 y/o black teen, left his father’s girlfriend’s home in Sanford, FL on foot to go to a local convenience store. At the store he purchased a canned fruit drink and candy. On his route home, he was observed by George Zimmerman as he entered the gated subdivision through its back entrance; Mr. Zimmerman became suspicious of this activity and phoned the local police to have a police car dispatched to the area. During the call, Mr. Zimmerman got out of his truck and began to follow Mr. Martin. After the call had concluded, Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Martin got into an altercation and at the end of the altercation George Zimmerman pulled out a gun that he was carrying and shot Mr. Martin in the chest. Mr. Martin died shortly after that gunshot. The police arrived and tried to resuscitate Mr. Martin. This attempt was unsuccessful. After an initial investigation, the Sanford Police decided not to arrest Mr. Zimmerman under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law. The family of Trayvon Martin did not understand this decision and organized rallies calling for the arrest Mr. Zimmerman. On March 20 the Federal Justice department decided to open the case for review. On April 11, 2012 George Zimmerman was arrested for seconddegree murder of Trayvon Martin. 22
After Trayvon Martin: Where do we go from here? The Verdict The trial began on June 10, 2013. On July 11, 2013 a jury of 6 women found George Zimmerman not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter. 2 of the jurors have spoken in interviews with the press. One juror who stated that she felt he (Mr. Zimmerman) was not guilty from their first vote after receiving the case. One felt he was guilty initially of second-degree murder but after further deliberations changed to a not guilty vote. Protests have taken place in many major cities. Most of the protests have focused on the acquittal and the Stand Your Ground law that started the initial protests more than a year ago. Shortly after the verdict, the Justice department announced it was reviewing whether Trayvon Martin’s civil rights were violated. Stand Your Ground Florida was the first state to enact a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law on Oct. 1 2005 The law states that a person is presumed to have reasonable fear of imminent death or great bodily harm when using defensive force if an intruder has broken into his or her home or vehicle and is justified in using force; it states that a person does not have a duty to retreat if he or she believes death or bodily harm is imminent; and it provides immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for justifiable use of force. The law was at the center of the delayed arrest and the trial of George Zimmerman. Many are calling for the repeal of the law because as the law reads it is ‘confusing to many’. Also most applications of the law have no witnesses, the surviving party only has to state that they felt that their life was in danger. Stand Your Ground laws are currently active in 22 states. Race Relations Many people in the black community felt that the verdict was unjust and that Mr. Zimmerman had gotten away with murdering Mr. Martin. Many saw a deeper thread in the devaluation of black males. Many ask 23
After Trayvon Martin: Where do we go from here? how a teen could be killed while carrying no weapon by someone with a gun and the actions is deemed self-defense. Did Mr. Martin have the right to defend himself? Many see it as their children are not safe from being killed because someone wrongfully sees them as being a threat. On November 3, 2012, Jordan Davis was shot and killed by Michael Dunn who open fired on the SUV that Mr. Davis was sitting in the backseat of. Mr. Davis along with 3 friends had stopped at the gas station after some shopping at a local mall in Jacksonville; FL. Mr. Dunn was in Jacksonville to attend a wedding reception for his son. After getting into an argument with the teens over loud music being played in the SUV, Mr. Davis stated that the teen threated his life and produced what he thought was a shotgun. . He states he went into his glovebox and retrieved his gun and fired no less than 8 gunshots into the SUV. After open firing on the SUV, Mr. Dunn left the scene and returned to the hotel room that he had in the area. He saw on the news that a teen had been killed in the shooting. The next morning, he checked out of the hotel and returned to his home in Satellite Beach, FL, (2.5 hours away from Jacksonville). He was arrested at this home later that day (his license plate information had been taken down by a witness to the event) He has plead not guilty to one count of firstdegree murder and 3 counts of attempted murder. His trial is set to begin Sept. 23 2013 Many see this as another test of the stand your ground law and also how far you can claim self-defense even in the absence of the other party possessing a weapon. No matter how this trial and the many others just like it are settled, the one thing that is clear is that there are many people that believe that racial justice is still far from being equal to all Americans. Ask Aunt Pearl Dear Aunt Pearl: I have been dating my man for about 3 years. He moved into my home about a year ago and we have worked to make it into our home. He brought up to me that we should get married and I agree it would be a good Idea. The issue is I own 2 companies and I’m on the board of a third. While he makes around 80K/yr, I make over 500K/yr. I also own a vacation home. I feel that we should have a prenuptial agreement in place before we get married but I don’t know how to bring it up. I really do love this man and I want us to be together forever but I’m not foolish to think that we cannot be broken up. Every day many people profess their undying love for each other but when divorce becomes the only option, they end up in viscous court battles over money or possessions that someone had before the marriage but the other feels that they are entitled to. I don’t want to have to fight over something I have way before we met. How do I bring up the Prenuptial Agreement without hurting the marriage?
Dear Mr. Pre-Nup: It is so true. You hear story after story of these vicious divorces where you begin to wonder why they would have ever got married in the first place. It is right for you to want to protect yourself but your mate might not see it that way. He might see it as you not trusting him. It sounds to me that you already see him having a reason to not want a pre-nup in place. As I’ve read your letter, you two have discussed marriage but are not currently engaged. Your best bet for raising the issue is to just raise it. The next time he raises the issue of marriage casually state that you would need a pre-nup in place before marriage and then the topic is out there for discussion. You’re not already in an engagement where this would now be a new term of the marriage, so the relationship can continue while this is decided. Make your points to the negative sides of divorce and agree to think it over on both sides. After you hear his arguments or lack thereof you both can make clear decisions together for your future. But you need to listen to his arguments and be objective in your thinking.

Ask Aunt Pearl Dear Aunt Pearl: I recently was stepping out on my relationship. I met this guy and went to his place to have sex. We started in his living room and after removing out clothes, we moved to the bedroom. After we finished, I went back to the living room to get dressed and my boyfriend’s best friend is sitting in the living room with my sex partner’s roommate. He sees me standing there nude and I turn around to go back to the bedroom and I see my clothes in a pile by the bedroom door. I get dressed and leave without passing him again. Now, I’m worried that he will tell my boyfriend of my actions. What should I do?
Dear Caught Azz Out: You have good cause to think he will tell your boyfriend. He did catch you butt-booty naked coming out of another man’s bedroom. If he wants your boyfriend to know either one of two things will happen. Either he’ll just go and tell him or he’ll come to you and request for you to tell him. Either way, it seems you’re your boyfriend will be informed. Your best bet is to just let your boyfriend know yourself unless you think you can lie your way out of it. Stranger things have happened. But I wouldn’t count on that happening. I think this is one you’ll have to chalk up to the game. Tell your boyfriend, see where it goes and be prepared to move on. Good luck!
