How did you get to where you are now in your career? Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :) I am not a self-taught digital era photographer. I studied graphic design at the University (took photography for three years) and then worked in the advertising industry for 14 years as an art director. I used to art-direct the photo shoots and TV commercials. Now, I am the guy behind the camera. What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero? As a photographer, I appreciate Albert Watson and Steven Meisel. Do you feel like you’ve met your goals and are successful? Not yet. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? I would start with my photography career at younger ages—although my art direction experience influence and strengthen my photography. What advice would you give someone who is young and wants to have a position such as yours one day? I don't know... I don't think that there is a formula. Maybe, just: "stay focused on what you do"; because this is not a job, this is a life style. How do you stay inspired? I am an inquisitive person by nature. I can't help: ) What photography related tips do you recommend? Catch up with the technological currency, and master your craft. How can people reach you for a job? And how would they know your rate? By going to my website and sending me an e-mail with all necessary information. Although I have an overall labour rate, every assignment is specific to its target to be able to be produced (from logistics to casting and purpose of use). What's your favourite camera? I use Nikon. However, I have an eye on getting a PhaseOne (I still have an analogue Mamiya medium format). And, I love Fujifilm, too (love the colour rendition and their brand promise for quality). Tell us about an interesting time when you were working with a model. Maybe shooting with the model Crystal Baker wearing a bikini at -26°C in the Canadian winter. She was a real trooper, never complained even once.

INFORMATION ABOUT
OZ JOHN TEKSON I studied graphic design at the university and worked in advertising as an art director in multinational companies e.g. Publicis, Euro RSCG, Bozell Worldwide, and The CocaCola Company for 14 years; art-directed numerous of commercial photo shoots and TVCs. Therefore, I see things more from the vantage point of an art director rather than of a conventional photographer. This also means that I pay big attention to not-creating a distinctive style and living in the puddle of it. I'd rather have styles that fit to individual moods and needs of the assignments. What I aim at is not taking pictures, but creating images that communicate. I am good at working with creative concepts and creative teams. I am also an academic with a PhD in visual semiotics. I have taught in several college and universities design, advertising, and photography related courses. That been said, I am a Toronto-based portrait, fashion, and commercial photographer. I have work published in printed and online media in Canada, US, and Europe. In 2015, proudly showcased as one of the selected fashion photographers representing Canada by the Model Management: http:// www.modelmanagement.com/close-upmagazine/26/photographers-canada/ Oz John specializes in ● Fashion ● Editorial ● Portraiture ● Corporate & Actor Headshots ● Advertising ● We offer creative and graphic design consultance and services specific to your needs (from logotype, brochure to POS), too—in case you need more support beyond photography. Tell us about yourself. My creations are inspired by and based on my love for art. My shows are therefore more of a theatre piece than a classic catwalk presentation and always based on a theme”. I have shown some spectacular themes such as “Alice & the dolls” in 2011 (one of his very first shows), “The birth of the psycho” in 2012 and “The Nutcracker” in the Talent Lab of the Amsterdam fashion Week in 2013. I have also had the opportunity to follow internships with the great Chinese Designer Sheguang Hu working from Holland and Eco designers Ellen Willink and Kasia Markowska (Polish origin). At what age did you start becoming fascinated with fashion? I think I was around 8 years old, I made plastic clothes and dressed my nieces.
How do you stay updated on the current trends? I try not to follow trends. I look at magazines, the internet etc., but I do not so much so that I would be influenced by others, I want to do my own thing. How important is Fashion Week for you? Fashion week is important I think for all designers because you can present yourself better. How do you choose your models during the fashion week? If I do a show, I often work with solid models that I find enjoyable. What is your dream job? To start a fashion academy in the Caribbean What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself taking your designing career? I see myself teaching in the Caribbean, I want to share my knowledge/experience with others (students).
Name the top three things in your designing kit that are must-haves? I think you always have to spend more money for basic pants, dress and a bag (clutch) all in black. These must-haves can be used more often in various combinations. Tell us your most unforgettable experience as a designer? My unforgettable experience was the Amsterdam Fashion Week 2013. What is your biggest accomplishment as a designer? It could this year if I receive my first award, for putting together a positive image for Curacao. This award had been enriched by The Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaรงao (The Hague, Netherlands). Favorite all time designer? Agatha Ruiz de la Prada

At what age did you start becoming fascinated with fashion? I started becoming fascinated with fashion the day when I had the chance as a kid, to assist a Jean Paul Gaultier show "Haute Couture". The backstage energy, outfits and models blasted my eyes. My perception of beauty changed since this day. How did you prepare for a career in styling? I grew up seeing shows, photoshoots, events... and I always have gave a hand :) I was a shy kid, never talking but focused on everything around me. And my mentors, as I was an assistant for 4 years full, gave me what I call the Keys, to try to create my own vision regarding the trends. How do you stay updated on the current trends? Travelling, Looking, Sharing are the 3 words help me to stay updated on the currents trends :) How important is Fashion Week for you? I believe Fashion Week is the Starter. Designers share their trends with us, it's a privilege to be invited and get the energy provided by this intense and short moment. What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself taking your styling career? I wanted to be a part of one of those publications that impose a rhythm and work more with international Artists, Girls or Boys in the music industry :) Name the top three things in your styling kit that are must-haves? My "Moodwoot X Thomas V" Hat, My "Dior Homme" Sunglasses, and "Saint Laurent Paris by Heidi Slimane" leather jacket :) they are with me everywhere! Tell us your most unforgettable experience as a stylist? I always dreamed to work with French Supermodel NoĂŠmie Lenoir. One day, got to a chance to introduce myself to her during an event. It was 5 short and long minutes at the same time. I feel lucky that we connected, and she gave me her personal phone number and her agent number also. 6 months later, I've been confirmed for an editorial with her where I am Creative Director and Stylist. I realised one of my dreams! Who is your favourite all-time designer? I can't choose between Jean Paul Gaultier and Azzedine AlaĂŻa who are my Kings :)

PAULA SOJO
Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :) When I was a baby. I posed for a couple of magazines, made it on the front covers and I was also in a couple of commercials. From seeing these ads with my face on them, I fell in love with the whole idea of pursuing this dream. I want to be able to see myself in jobs that I've gotten and things that I've worked for in order for me to feel proud of myself in a sense that "I've made it". How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? I've never taken any modelling courses. I always thought that I was born with the natural skill of posing for pictures and acting in commercials. I learned later when commercials and photoshoots started coming my way that it really is something that takes practice as well as determination. Before I signed with the agency that I'm with now, I would research how to "pose for pictures" and "walk the runway" for hours on end. So I never threw myself into a shoot without knowing anything. What do you think makes someone “fit to be a model? I believe that anyone who has the perseverance and dedication is "fit" to be a model. I don't think you need to be 5'11 and a size 0 in order to work in this field. I truly believe that everyone is beautiful and there are so many jobs waiting for us all it just takes patience and perseverance and a matter of believing in oneself. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? My goal as a model is to have the experience of seeing new places and meeting new people and learning from it all in order to succeed in this industry. Another goal that I have had for a while is also to inspire people especially ones that dream of working in this field. I want them to know that not everything is going to come to them overnight. I think that if I keep working as hard as I am working right now, hopefully I will have the opportunity of travelling to a new place for a photoshoot or runway show.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I am very outgoing, patient and friendly when it comes to working with others. I also love working as a team with different hairstylists, makeup artists and directors. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? Yes, I eat nutritiously. During the summer time I go on bike rides and go to local parks for walks or to play soccer but during the school year I normally just partake in the gym classes. What is your dream role as a model? My dream role as a model is catwalk or print. Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? When a modelling request comes to me it normally should be through my agent and if it's not I'm very cautious about taking the job because I am aware of the risks in this industry. State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours? I'm in High school right now so it would be very difficult for me to work full time. For now, I work part time. What is your most memorable experience as a model? My most memorable modelling experience would have to be a photoshoot that I did recently with a very well known photographer. I loved how the pictures turned out and the crew was amazing.
"I always thought that I was born with the natural skill of posing for pictures and acting in commercials. I learned later when commercials and photoshoots started coming my way that it really is something that takes practice as well as determination."
“My aspiration in life is to live it at it's fullest. I want to be surrounded by people that love and influence me in a positive way. I want to be able to show my talents and abilities in my every day life for the rest of my life. I do not look for anything materialistic I only aspire to be the best person that I can be and to look back at the end of it all and be satisfied with my journey.

Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :) I started fashion at the age of 30 when I started the RMIT fashion design Hons Degree. I used to do fashion design in high school but ended up joining the circus for 15 yrs touring and performing. I decided to go back and get a degree and have worked in the made to measure industry for companies like Oscar Hunt and Gwendolynne. How did you prepare for a career in styling? I didn't. I could mainly sew clothing and so functionality and the things I couldn't find on the rack I ended up making. It became a skill to try and make people what they wanted. How do you stay updated on the current trends? I'm always scouting around Melbourne. I think we are the most stylish city I've been too. So seeing people on the tram and train, at cafes and noticing things that I liked or thought was cool. My inspiration comes from the people around me. My customer is out there walking around Melbourne, so I believe it is important to take notice of what he wants. How important is Fashion Week for you? Fashion week is critical. I missed out on emerging designer this year for the RMIT show, but it has only made me more determined. I think showing wearable made to measure menswear in Melbourne is important. There aren't that many tailors left, and almost none is doing tailoring for contemporary men. I want to show that we can still think outside the box for menswear that is wearable and unique What is your dream job? Dream job is designing ready to wear men's clothing. Something specialising in fit and suiting which I think has the potential to be taken much further. I'd lke to be putting the iconic Melbourne Man on the map. What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself taking your styling career? To push the range, I have made at RMIT for six months whist I develop a 2017 range. I'd like to aim to be seen at Virgin Australia in some form as my collection is jackets and overcoats and by then the season will be changing. But mainly do what I do best and design more men's clothing. Name the top three things in your styling kit that are musthaves? Brogue Shoes - a must-have in any man's wardrobe Ray Ban sunglasses - They go with almost anything Tell us your most unforgettable experience as a stylist? Almost every styling experience involving a TFP photographer andand RMIT student model Who is your all-time favourite designer? Thom Browne - I love him. He's the ultimate men's style guide in my opinion. Clean, different, and simple. For local I'm going to have to say Gwendolynne Burkin. She were awesome and taught me a lot about made to measure bridal.

Can you tell us what makes you a good fit for this particular makeup artist position with the competition being so tough? I feel like there's no competition but within yourself. There are so many amazing artists that you should be more inspired by then intimidated. My artistry position is strong and it shows with consistency. Why did you choose this profession? Honestly, I worked in the human services field with no intentions on being a makeup artist. I just knew that I wanted more. I loved my job so much because of all the dierent people I had the chance to meet and help! I'm a BIG people's person which is extremely important in my business. Then one day after about 4 years in I started to feel like a robot. I've always loved makeup, fashion and hair but who would have known it was going to be my life, my brand, my baby. What are the biggest challenges makeup artists have to face? Staying patient... I think that's the biggest thing, well for me anyways. I struggled with certain techniques. I struggled trying to find my niche and gaining clients to make a decent living. I mean come on, I'm a wife and a mother of 2 (now 3) there's no way I can do this! Boy was I wrong. But to be honest every artist has a testimony that's probably pages long! If a customer asks for a style that you are sure would not suit them, how do you convince the customer to go otherwise? It's not so much as convincing them because 9 times out of ten they know what they want. My approach is to go get to know my client a little what you like, and what you don't like sort of thing. Then I explain how we can incorporate some of the things they're requesting, but in order to get this perfect look for YOU maybe we add this or take this away to get the look they'll surely love! That way they feel they didn't leave your chair with none of their vision they came in with! It's called beauty compromising! How do you prepare dry and oily skin for foundation makeup application? For dry skin I like to clean the skin first with an exfoliated facial wipe and not the kind that will leave residue on the skin, which is not a good feeling or look on the skin. I then turn to my go to moisturizer from Embrolysse and apply a nice amount all over with my hands instead of a brush - it's just the skin to skin contact that gives an even application. Then primer! That helps the dry skin tremendously! For oily skin I repeat but I make sure my moisturizer is oil free, oil on oil does not work. Tell us about your experience as a makeup artist? I am a highly trained beauty artist. I have perfected my craft to work alongside other industry pros, countless magazine features, but one of my greatest accomplishment was my feature in Glamour Magazine, that was big! I also do a lot of fashion and editorial work. I have a set etiquette which is important and I work my behind o! My work skill ranges from television, print, runway and bridal. But it all leads back to beauty no matter what the job is. I say that because whomever books you obviously has seen your work right? So whether it's an editorial job or one for the everyday woman, they book you by the consistency of your work.
Do you apply makeup for special events? Name some you have covered? I've worked backstage for our First Lady Inaugural Ball with Glee Nickelodeon world-wide day of play campaigns, New York Fashion Week Matel fashion Show, Miami Weddings Award, other shows and Celebrity concerts. What is the difference between applying makeup for a TV shoot and applying makeup for a live appearance party? The makeup for television, I tend to go more towards HD (high definition products) because it suites the camera lighting well. I even like to airbrush my clients for televising appearances. The only thing I say that changes is the product - the skill shouldn't unless you've found a better way to apply it! How often do you clean your makeup tools such as brushes and combs? How does it affect the wear and tear of your tools and how do you feel about the associated expense? I clean my brushes at least twice a week. I have so many of the same style I can have a week worth of work and I only have to wash twice! If you take care of your brushes and allow them to dry properly after washing they can last a long time. I have some Sigma brushes that were used in 2010 for a show and they're still holding up well! The expense shouldn't really be an issue. It's too many amazing brands that give artist discounts that we should all take advantage of because it can be pricey especially quality brushes. How do you determine a client’s undertone before you decide what makeup technique to use? It's funny, I like to do the veins test. If the forearm veins are more green, it's likely a warm undertone. If it has more of a bluish you have more of a cool undertone. That’s just an easy method I’ve been using all these years - but hey, don't fix it if it's not broke! Do you have any tips for aspiring makeup artists? First find what kind of artist you are, that's the very first thing! Then find your inspiration and begin to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! Follow and study the perfect a mentor that fits your skill set you want to learn. One you can learn and build from. Lastly don't get into this business with money on the brain, that takes times and the toughest obstacles. Do it with passion always then your personal artistry will show in your work and that's what attracts clientele! Tell us your most memorable experience so far. Most memorable is working the for the cast of Glee for the First Lady Inaugural Ball! So many stars in one place, but more importantly, I'm a part of history!

Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :) All my life I have always dreamed, a dream world where I can show people that beauty comes from anything and everything. I have always wanted to inspire people that the perfect image that was always shown to me about how I should look or what I have to look like to get by in the world, is not accurate. I was constantly told as a child about how odd looking I was or that I should give up on my dreams because the camera would never favor someone who looked like me. I was always nip-picked for not looking how a boy from Houston, Texas should look. I just want everyone to know that if you truly love something enough don't let the negative comments get into your head and make you think that you aren't pretty enough or you that you should give up on your dreams. I love being on camera and if you love and are as passionate about your hopes and dreams as I am don't let anyone or anything stop you. How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? Although, some people just have this natural ability to look amazing on camera I firmly believe that if you can study different poses, watch yourself in the mirror finding your good angles and sides you will be able to look amazing as well. My Mother who I love dearly and I am so thankful for started me into modeling at a very young age, so I have received training from courses for the most part of my life. Courses have included learning how to move my body through a space and to create a world of my own to come up with an amazing shot. I constantly find myself watching runway work to learning how to walk properly or even just watching other models work and seeing the different ways a body can move to give your photo set an amazing variety of work. What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model? In my opinion the think that makes someone a fit to be a model is ultimately your work drive and your passion. If you aren't willing to put in the time and energy into making your body a canvas or learning to take critics and improve then this is not the field for you. This industry requires so much work and you have to have the passion just as much as the work. If you aren't trying to improve yourself with every shoot, every frame you get then it will show. When I look into fellow Models photos and I look at their eyes you can see the amount of drive behind them and that is why they continue to have great photos. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? My goals as a model are to be able to see myself inspire people, I want to be able to form a career, become successful in marketing myself and see myself on billboards. I want to be able to show anyone of any age that no matter what circumstance you are in if you really want this than it is possible. When I dream I see myself on magazines all over talking about my struggle to get to where I am and telling my story. I want to be able to use my platform to help change the world. What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography? I know that the advertisement industry is an extremely competitive industry, they are constantly looking for new ideas and new people to help sell and distribute their ideas. I was always told the psychology aspect of the industry is almost like the nervous system in the business world. They are always trying to present something in a way that evokes us as consumers to want to buy their product. They use many different images and pictures to excite us ultimately into purchase, sell or even rent.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I am a very huge people person, I love to talk to anyone and everyone. I am always kind to everyone because the world can be such a harsh place and I have no idea what other people are going through so I am as friendly as I would like people to be to me, along with the fact that all my life I have been told that I was incredibly patient as regards to anything. I was very open to any requirements asked of me I was always told that the best kind of person is someone who listens to others, I was taught at a very young age about how important adaptability was on set and how to take direction so that has never been a problem of mine. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? I am southern so I tend to like my fried food and that habit has been a little hard to break. I try to eat as nutritiously as possible I do have times where I crave a burger though so that part I'm still working on. Ever since I moved out here to Los Angeles I've started to improve my diet and it gets better everyday but I can always do better. I jog every morning and every night, I do a lot of core work to keep my abs in tack. I use to hate working out, but after a while it became routine so it gets easier every day. What is your dream role as a model? My all time dream role as a Model is to be on the cover of GQ or Vogue. I remember as a child I would look at GQ and Vogue, I would picture my face on it and would realize I want to be at that level I want to be a GQ man or a Calvin Klein model. I want to be able to show that even that young boy that everyone used to tease and call ugly or say that he would never amount to anything will be on the magazine cover that they see at the store or in the mail delivered to their house and think wow he really did do it, he really did accomplish his dreams. I want every kid to know that nothing limits them except themselves because anything is possible. Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? I don't have many limitations, my boundaries are something that’s hard to explain. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot as long as it is not life threatening then I am comfortable with it. Modeling is an art form just as much as painting is and us as modeling should not go into the industry with a closed mind, you have to be open. State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours? I am 100% available at anytime of the day or night. I have a passport ready as well, I have a very flexible schedule so I am able to work full or part time. I love this industry so much and would do anything I could to better myself or to be readily available to head to a shoot or runway. What is your most memorable experience? My most memorable experience so far would be the day I first looked at a photo of myself modeling. I stopped looking at myself and critiquing ever single detail about myself. I stopped looking at my pictures and hating them, and I looked at them for what they really were. I looked at my picture and I saw a model and that moment changed my life for the better.

Pursuit of Dreams From the age of 6, I knew I wanted to become a chef. I have always enjoyed cooking and everything associated with it. So at the age of 14, I fulfilled my first dream and started my 3.5 years’ apprenticeship. After my mandatory Military service in Germany, I moved to the UK, where I worked in an English Country House as a Commis Chef de cuisine. In 1991 another dream became a reality when I had the opportunity to move to California and continued working as a chef in Sacramento. My profession changed many times over the years to achieve further dreams. By moving into the hospitality industry, I had the advantage of working (and living) in several States along the Westcoast of America. Ambition, hard work and having a dream allowed me to work my way from Porter up to being Director of Front Office Services (including a historic Landmark Hotel in Southern California). The next pursuit was to move back to Europe and after 12 years loving live in the US, I completed that goal and moved back to the UK (Oxfordshire) and continued working in the Hotel Industry. The death of my sister in 2005 made me re-evaluate my life and my dreams and my ambitions slightly changed. I was now in the pursuit of a ‘regular job’, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, with a focus on enjoying life with friends and family. Throughout my life, I always had a huge interest in photography, mainly Travel- and Street Photography, Landscape and the odd Portrait here and there. As I entered Office Management, I purchased my first DSLR Camera and I had time to focus on this photography passion, took a few basic courses, entered a local photography club and found success in the following years as my work was good enough to receive top marks and winning the annual club competitions in “Black and white photo prints”, “Digital Portfolio” and runner-up in the “Travel Photography” category. I received commercial commissions, self-published a few books and created my website and brand (markusbrehmphotography). It’s hard to imagine now, that only nine months ago, I wasn’t even thinking of starting out in the Model, fashion and portrait ‘division’ of photography. A friend (and former model) approached me in February 2016 to help him create an up-to-date portfolio. His confidence in my work was good enough for me to invest in some studio kit and I have been pursuing my passion of photography in ways I could only dream off. I had the opportunity and privilege of working with over 25 models since and the biggest accolade came when Model Citizen App and Magazine contacted me. Your comment of finding my images ‘simple and raw in nature’ and that you were interested in featuring me is a highlight, and I sincerely appreciate it. I have been commissioned by an Independent High Street Optician chain, to shoot a campaign for a prominent sunglasses manufacturer and these images will be part of their sales strategy and be featured throughout 2017. To sum up my life’s story in a statement about my aspiration in life: “Draw inspiration from life, be passionate about what you do and never lose sight of what’s important to you.”

I'm aspiring model from Poland. My mother agency is AS Management. I'm interested in modelling as a career because of many factors. Working as a model, it is a great opportunity to travel to interesting places, meeting inspiring people in fashion industry, as well as getting to know other cultures during your stay in distant countries. What is more, I would like to work as a model because it is an amazing way to be someone different each day during unearthly stylised photo shooting and while attending fashion show wearing indescribable clothes. How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? I have never attended the modelling course. I read most about modelling through the Internet. I think it is important to educate girls how to become a model in a healthy but long-standing way, eating healthy and exercising but not starving. What do you think makes someone “fit to be a model? Firstlyappropriate height, measurements, body proportion and interesting face. Then you need to have strong character and have that special something which makes you the person people want to work with. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? My goals are always to work as good as I can, learn new things from people from the fashion industry to be better and better as a model each day. What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography? I have Bachelor of Cognitive Science and I'm studying Psychology so I an know a little bit about advertisement industry. Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :) It never occurred to me that modeling could be in my path, but when it came into my life as a burlesque dancer I decided to take another platform by the reigns. First and foremost I love to dance. I aim every day to train and be a better dancer, as I have a mere 3 years of training. Modeling happened about 2 years into my dance career, and 2 years later I combined the two and even shoot my dance abilities at times. My goal as a dancer and model, is to be a positive role model to younger generations, to show others that no matter what goal you set, you have the power to reach it. I'm not the typical model; 5'6", size 1, and great style. Instead, I'm myself; 5'1", size 2, and the goofiest dancer you might ever meet. I hope to show my audience that no matter what you are given, you can do anything you push for. How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? As with dancing, I began to take my modeling very seriously after my first few TFP shoots. I auditioned and was chosen to enroll with John Casablancas Modeling & Talent Agency. I did learn many things when it came to modeling, and once I graduated I wrote a release form of my own. I've learned to not only how to be a model, but in a way I learned to manage myself. What do you think makes someone “fit to be a model? I, personally, still feel I am learning how t o be a more successful model. Therefore, I do not think I know what it may be. However, if I had the choice to choose what qualities might make a model, it would be character. The personality you bring, and professionalism should be smoothed out to coexist during a shoot. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? My ultimate goals for modeling, would be to feature in clothing magazines that fit my urban style, and feature in commercials. With my tattooed sleeves of endangered animals, it brings the perfect crowds such as; Vans, PacSun, etc. As well as dance clothing and promotional things. What do you know about the advertisement indus tr y, ad ver t ising psyc holog y and photography? As I am still fairly new, I feel there is much to learn in these fields. With every new photographer I work with, I learn new tricks and lighting changes with photography. I work on my angles and facials after every shoot so that I am more prepared for diverse photos. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? With my two jobs, and working to be an experienced model, I know life can get busy. Patience is key when working with new people, and I want nothing more than to have a good time. I tend to be very open to new suggestions and ideas as I am still in a learning curve.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? I am a vegetarian so, I would say my diet is healthy. Although, I don't deny myself sweets, I make sure to add another 20 minutes of exercise. I am usually active with my dance but stretch/train always on my own at home. What is your dream role as a model? My dream role as a model would be to be a spokeswoman for a new vegan makeup line. Featured in multiple magazines, and meet all the most important people in the business. Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? The only boundary I have with modeling is nudity and boudoir. I don't deny that I could experience with it in the future, but with my small career I am not ready for that style yet. State your availability: Would you travel? Work fulltime, part time? Any hours? I have traveled as far as the boreggo springs desert for a TFP shoot, so I would stop anything for a paid modeling job. I can always adjust my schedules to shoots, which is what I do now. I would be willing to travel also, that is a goal of mine; travel the world. No biggie.

"LACK OF SLEEP. SLEEP IS MY BABY, NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE REST FACTOR, A PORTION OF MY IMAGINATIVE AND CREATIVE CONCEPTS DERIVE FROM DREAMLAND. IF I DON’T GET ENOUGH, IT EFFECTS MY MOOD, ENERGY AND COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS."
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career? I didn’t get signed with a modeling agency until the age of 26. I consider myself a “Jacquelyn“ of all trades. My first job was at 14 years old doing janitorial work at my high school for the summer in my small hometown in Wisconsin. Since then I’ve had an array of jobs as a fine jewellery consultant, commissioned sales rep, life guarding, in home care assistance. As of most recent,I've been working as a fashion model and directing shoot productions In New York City. Don't let where you start dictate where you finish. How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? Knowledge is power, its essential to have a base understanding of how to pose, walk and move for the camera and/or audience. Once a model has a achieved that a the basic posture then she/he will be free to ad their own personality and flair! It's also wise to legally educate yourself and have model basic disclosure forms, contracts and/or agreements forms on hand for any kind of work paid or not. Protect yourself! What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model? I’m not going to sugar coat this. A model must be healthy physically, mentally and make healthy lifestyle choices. Eating natural unprocessed foods, regular skin care regime and regular (Healthy) detoxing are good examples of healthy lifestyle choices. It's all about educating yourself on what best for you. Physically, a model should be within or at least very close proximity to the healthy limits of their BMI. If you are a skeleton draped with bad skin, you need to start making some changes and fast! Mental health is attained from finding personal balance and setting boundaries. This can be done by dissecting if certain foods/ substances, people or situations are casing an emotional toll and eradicate the negative immediately and completely! If something/someone doesn’t feel right, it’s probably not. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? I continuously strive to be a good model by practicing being the best version of myself and will continue to do so thought the rest of my life by doing whats right me while being kindly unapologetic about it. We all constantly change in life and what is right for us now won’t nessesarily be the same tomorrow, next week, next year or in 20 years! I will continue to evolve as a person and as a model by staying true to who I am and my unique personalities. Actors don’t take accept roles that do not covey some part of them and neither should models. What do you know about advertising and psychology? One theory in the psychology and advertisement is to have a target audience and what they see is what the will “embody”. Case and point: The understanding is if a younger women is wearing clothes designed for a target audience for the “mature woman” then that is how mature women will see themselves as “younger”. Personally, I think this is a flawed concept as younger models in most cases do not have the curves, limited experience and personality to reach such an audience. And of course there is the saying “sex sells” which is most certainly true! To me, the idea of “sex” is the misconception of sex appeal and if someone is confinement that is both sexy and appealing. I find that photography in itself is really subjective, but in mass advertising images can be over perfected. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? In my four years living in NYC I’ve seen people come and go. Being a people person and exuding patience are essential traits have in order to survive in New York City. I would have been long gone, if I didn’t demonstrate these qualities. Hailing from the Midwest, hands down I am pre dis-positioned to be kind to a fault! Getting upset, mad or angry does not feel good and makes me sick. We have the choice to be cruel or kind and for reasons stated, I choose the latter. When it comes to requirements I am open minded, but essentially it comes down to what they are. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? My food regime is about 80 percent raw consisting of fresh and organic fruits and veggies. No dairy or gluten and I gave up caffeine and only eat meat once a week. Right away in the morning I drink a glass or two of purified lemon water to hydrate and awaken my internal organs and keep drinking lots of water throughout the day. Breakfast is basically the same everyday, either a smoothie with a side of fruit or a personal nutrient packed oatmeal concoction. I have become a guru of teas and have recently became a Matcha tea lover! I stay in shape by swimming, running, dancing and in everyday life walking around NYC. Yoga is a must at least once a week, stretching and practicing breathing is too often over looked. What is your dream role as a model? My dream role as a model is to be a good role model. Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? Considering the extent of my work history I am well aware of what is considered good and bad treatment in the work environment and by using common sense. When It comes

Please let our readers know about you. I’m professional model, actress, art director and aspiring creative director in fashion and short film cinema. Based in New York City namely Chelsea Manhattan. Sunsets, nature time and walking my dog are staples in my life. The movements of animals and nature centres and grounds me. I practice a holistic approach to life by incorporating a mostly a whole food diet, I use essential oils in almost everything and surround myself with positive and outgoing individuals. Why do you aspire to be an artistic director? I’m designed by default. Throughout childhood, I had a keen eye for beauty, creativity and an interest in everything! I would cut out pictures beautiful places, people and things from my Uncle’s large National Geographic stash and taped them on the bedroom wall in front of my bed. At the age eight, my parents divorced leading to a series of events that caused a shaky home life for many years. I focused my energy in school and plethora of activities ranging from dance, music, art clubs, dark room photography to creating mini commercial portfolios digitally designed. Through the years I had become a well-rounded artist, and by the fall of my Senior year, I knew I wanted to produce and direct in the Arts! In a small Wisconsin farm town that prospect is a bit far fetched. My choir teacher was the star of the school; she was beautiful, talented and familiar with NYC for choir trips and just seemed a bit more cultured thus I confided this to her and only her. I’ll never forget how she threw her head back chuckling and said,“ you know that’s a hard job ”. I was stunned and frankly embarrassed. I dropped chorus for the following semester. For the next six years I lived life by trail and errors, at one point I took an interesting psychology and was accepted into the UW-Madison School of Psychology. Needless to say, it wasn’t for and after a semester I left not only several thousand more debts, but with an overwhelming paranoia that I might have at least five personality disorders. Just Kidding, but it can happen. Soon after I became a lifeguard and met someone whom I can say now is my dear friend, Tom. Tom was a fellow lifeguard was the first person who saw my potential almost right away. He consistently endowed me with encouragement and was the first to mention that I maybe board in WI and belong somewhere diverse like New York. For a good year and a half, he was my creative counterpart. I was doing a summer of travelling and “soul searching” and on a fluke, I came to New York on a short visit to see a friend in late July 2012. To make a long story short, lets just say I never went back. It was the most spontaneous thing I’ve ever done. Living in New York, I’m surrounded by creative and have been granted opportunities that have changed my life. I’ve achieved more in the past four years in NYC then in those six posts high school. New York is home to me, and I can express all five those personalities with them being considered a disorder here. I most certainly will admit to taking the road much less travelled, but the high and low of the experiences morphed me into this “Jacqueline of all trades”. I had to take a few crash courses in the school of life, but essence I always had it, just needed a little reminder. What have you learned from mistakes on the artistic director job? 1.
2. 3.
It’s important to an always initiate a connection with every team member. It’s a vital to get an understanding of attitude, egos and the personalities of your team before hand and vice versa. Cultivate and be apart of a team you can trust. Keep calm and stay true to who you and in the end, your going to be alright.
In my first self-produced professional collaboration needed to get a fast replacement for a film maker less than two days before the shoot date. My PA (whom will go unnamed.) found a suitable replacement. After my approving the filmmaker my PA immediately informed me he had already forwarded the project overview and call sheet to the already, but no such thing was done. As a result, there was a big misconception on both ends between the film maker and myself causing confusion and delays on the project. I accepted the full blame because I didn’t make that initial connection and to that didn’t both me. Regardless, I worked very hard in pre-production, invested my money into this project and most importantly my name was on it. Thus I was determined to figure out what went wrong. I asked about the email, and the film maker confirmed he that never received any email regarding the Concept Overview. Additionally, he was told a completely different concept by the PA. It came to rise that the PA had his agenda and took advantage of the situation. Considering the circumstances the filmmaker and I were able to clear the air and find common ground with each other. Tell us your most recent project/s. My latest productions were two upscale, low budget professional collaborations. Producing two look book shoots and a short fashion film called “The Visit” models wearing fashion creations by local up and coming designers SuShe, Bejan Moers and Jet-11. I conceived, supervised and curated both projects from start to finish. In preparation, I scheduled and organised some meetings and fittings with all of the creators. The attitudes were grandiose and provocative, over all feel was mysterious and seductive. The overall concept aimed for that rare Manhattan luxury lifestyle. We were fortunate to use my close friend’s home, a stunning spacious 3,500 square foot private loft located in Chelsea Manhattan for both shoots and shooting the fashion film, The Visit. Tell us your most memorable experience as an artistic director? The morning of my second self-produced professional collaboration I received a cancellation from the MUA, and a model cancelled the day prior! I was shocked for about 30 seconds and got into problem-solving mode. Went and bought photo makeup quickly before hand and stepped in as the second model. Thus, I ended up doing the hair, makeup for both myself and the other model, modelling, curating and producing that project. My most memorable moment was seeing how well everything came out from that day; I was very proud of myself.
What advice could you give to the aspiring and amateur artistic director? Become familiar with Adobe Cloud, CS6 and Final Cut Pro Programs and have an eye for detail. Start investing in a high-quality portfolio. Professional Collaborations are great because saves money and your around others that are just as passionate and skilled ready to make those career moves. At the age of 21, I was asked to model for the UW-Madison Fashion School’s Runway Show. I had never modelled before was assigned to be the opening model to walk the show. I set the tone and rocket it! Afterwards I was feeling pretty good with a nice adrenalin rush, but even so didn’t have an aspiration to be a professional model. Later that week I met up with some relatively good of friends mine and told them a bit about the show what a great experience it was. Its vibes were chill, and everyone seemed interested until a so-called friend blurted out: “Most models are retired at your age! Your 21, forget it your ship has sailed.” That statement changed everything. Jump head five years to 2015. At the age of 26 I was signed with a New York Modeling Agency, have been showcased in NYWF runways show, publications and music videos. This past summer of 2016 revealed my best work in in modelling to date start a career path in creative/artistic direction. At 28 I feel this is just the beginning. V ANYA SEMERDJIEVA Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career? I’ve heard people regard modelling and the fashion industry in general as solely based on vanity, looks, as something shallow and unnecessary. However, aesthetics has been part of our society for far longer than many can imagine, date back to Ancient Greece and Egypt. Photography is a form of art. Fashion is a form of art. I don’t see why modelling shouldn’t be seen as art as well. I love experimenting with different kinds of art: have done acting, dancing, singing, and just finished a literary degree, so to me modelling just feels like a natural next step on the way of understanding the world we live in. How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? Education is undoubtedly crucial in any industry, but in all honesty, I’ve undertaken no formal training in modelling. Perhaps most of what I know I owe to YouTube videos and America’s Next Top Model. Haha! What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model? The most important quality is being easy to work with. People skills are crucial in a job like modelling. You may be the most talented model, have the prettiest face and the most relevant experience, but if you cannot get along with the team, the magic just won’t happen. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? As I am quite new to this field, at this stage I hope to get lots of exposure, and Model Citizen is a very good first step to that. Signing with an agency is one of my many aims but not the only one. I hope to establish myself as a person with whom people would enjoy working; an artist. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? Like I said, people skills are essential in this industry, so I try to work on my patience and personality on a daily basis. I see the world and every situation life gives us as a lesson and I enjoy analysing what I could have done better, what I could improve to become a better version of myself. That’s why I think I’m quite an open-minded person and do my best to meet both mine and the client’s expectations. Of course, there would be times when people disagree about certain things. I’ve been working with charities and fundraising for over two years now, and one of the fundamental things I have learned is that the key to successful communication is being a good listener and being able to find a middle ground and compromise when this happens.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? Not as much as I would like to but I try to have at least one healthy meal a day. I appreciate the importance of healthy food, but I don’t believe in diets that require you to starve yourself. I’m certainly guilty of a few dietary flaws and, gotta admit, I’m not ashamed of that burger I had for lunch yesterday! Haha. I used to go to the gym when I had more time but lately I mainly do yoga at home, and I walk. A lot. Even though I live in Scotland which is probably the rainiest place on this planet, I am a walker, and I can spend hours just wandering around town. What is your dream role as a model? Being a role model for young girls. I believe the greatest beauty in this world lies in human imperfections and this is why I’ve never strived to look perfect or asked my photographers to airbrush the bejeesus out of me. To me, it’s very important to get this message across because imperfections make us unique and some of the most beautiful models nowadays are beautiful because of their flaws. I am glad to see that the industry is changing and more and more agencies and clients go for unusual, edgy looks rather than the conventional symmetry. Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? Perhaps a difficult offer to accept would be something that goes against my principles. Of course, modelling is a job, and you have to be flexible, but it’s important not to forget that once you become a face of something…you become the face of that thing, be it a brand or an idea, etc. I also prefer having a few layers on. Haha! State your availability: Would you travel? Work fulltime, part-time? Any hours? I love travelling and am planning to have a long trip exploring and shooting around the world in the next couple of years, but at this point, I am happy to travel to Scotland as I work full-time at a charity for homeless people, so my hours are limited to weekends only. Tell us what's your memorable experience so far. Every photo shoot is memorable, especially at this early stage. I work mainly with Magnus, so you would think that planning a photoshoot is easier since we live together and see each other every day. We don’t have access to a studio, so we have to be as creative as possible and pick out various outdoors locations to make things interesting. But let’s not forget that we live in Scotland – the country where you could get all four seasons in two hours! So plans change, and you have to be very flexible, not to mention that I usually plan and do the make-up and hairstyles, as well. I’ve had to do my make-up in a moving car while chasing the sunset for 50 miles so that we could get the perfect shot. We had planned to shoot in an abandoned asylum not far out of Glasgow which, however, turned out to be a construction site for a new residential area… Needless to say, how disappointed we were we missed it by a few weeks. So there we were browsing the net for alternatives, driving for hours from one site to another just to discover that every abandoned site in the area has been demolished or refurbished! The key is to keep calm and just get the fun part out of the whole experience

How did you get to where you are now in your career? In all honestly, I’m not even sure! It all happened so fast! I guess luck and just shooting whenever I could with whoever I could. Putting myself out there on social media was a big one! How did your education prepare you for the future? It didn’t. I finished Academy (high school) and just started working. Photography, my YouTube channel was a hobby put on the back burner till recently. What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero? My Dad for sure! Never really say it, but he’s the smartest person I know. He can pretty much do everything and anything! And he’s always helped me out however he can. Even when I haven’t asked. Do you feel like you’ve met your goals and are successful? I wouldn’t say I’ve made it; I still have many goals to set for myself, but I’m certainly on the right track. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? Nothing. I’ve met and shared some amazing people and experiences since I’ve left school. I’m thankful for all them and all the mistakes as well! It’s a chance to learn, not saying I have… haha What advice would you give someone who is young and wants to have a position such as yours one day? You have to be content with being considered silly and foolish to move forward. In other words, take risks but know what they are. If you don’t, you’ll just be comfortable. I mean who wants to be comfortable?! Also just keep at it. There will always be tough days but just go for it. How do you stay inspired? I love people watching; I know that sounds weird. But if you just sit and look at people in a café or just take that second longer to look around you in the street. You can see so much more, guess people’s stories and why their there. Photography is a chance to tell a story that no video ever could. I love walking around with my camera and my 50mm lens and just take pictures of what ever I want. Instagram is also a great place to get insipid! Set reachable goals, weather it be buying a new camera, leaning how to use that tool in Photoshop. What photography related things do you recommend? Get online and watch “how to videos” weather it be Photoshop, composition, lighting, reviews. You can always learn more. Magazines, Night classes are also a great way to increase your knowledge. I’m still on YouTube watching videos; I’m also looking into Photoshop workshops within Glasgow. How can people reach you for a job? And how would they know your rate? You can either direct message me on my Instagram or email me directly. Rates vary. There are many factors that can come into play. The best way is just to contact me. We’ll talk and then go from there, I’d rather talk about the shoot before I talk about money! What's your favourite camera? My favourite camera is the Leica Q, but that’s not in my budget right now, so I’d have to say the Canon 80D, that’s the camera I’m currently working to buy. Tell us something very interesting while working with a model. I use a manual focus lens. So life gets a little tough especially when the weather is absolute trash. You and your model are both freezing, and you can barely keep the camera still! The worst is probably when I have to shoot in a little too low light. Must be pretty funny watching me attempt to hold a camera, a flashlight and adjust my focus ring while standing precariously on some random item to get the shot… prep is everything guys... prep is everything. Favourite model? Well, I’d have to say, my girlfriend, Vanya Semerdjieva! She’s the model I have worked with the most, and we always have a laugh, and she has some great ideas too! A model I’d love to work with who’s based in Chicago is Elizabeth wheel and, just love her style.

What would you tell your fans who shared and voted for you? First I would like to thank my fans for what they did, to thank every single person who voted for me. The most beautiful thing that can ever happen to a person in this life is the real connection with people, that is what matters and that is what remains at the end. I would like to tell those who voted for me that am an incomplete person without them, without their love and their support. I love them very much; I love all those I know who voted for me and all those i don't know as well. Have you been a magazine cover before and what magazine was that? It's the first time for me to be a magazine cover, it's one of the best things that happened to me so far. Watching your dream coming true is something amazing, and what is better is to live every single detail. You are very humble, how do you maintain that attitude? I don't give myself a credit of being humble, I mean that is how every single person should be. Mmm, I don't maintain that it's my character, plus I don't believe that I'm better than anyone, and I'm not. Every person in this life is meant to do his/her job perfectly and correctly. It's true that I'm a magazine cover, but I may suck in business or drawing or painting haha, that's why am not better than others, I'm good in modelling, they are better in other things. One more thing and the main reason I guess are that I am a very true believer, and I believe that all that I have, starting from my physical shape to my mentality to the gorgeous family I have is a gift from God, that's another and main reason. What are your plans as a model? Once you started doing something you love and something I've more than great in, I can't and you shouldn't stop. My favourite is to keep working on myself in and out, to explore ME more. It may sound like nonsense to a lot of people, but I guess that every time we work on ourselves, we discover and explore new abilities that we didn't know about their existence before. If you ask this question to a certain number of people, their answers will vary, But to me, my plan is to challenge and beat The person I am now, who in turn challenged and beaten the person I was yesterday. Who is the most influential person in your life? Mmm, this is a very wide question. In life as general, the most influential person for me is Gandhi. I love peace, and the life of Gandhi touches my inner soul. Gandhi was an individual who believed in equality and inner peace and how can inner peace of a single person affect the lives of a nation. I as a person practice Ahimsa which means non-violence, and I'd rather water a plant than to take it off and keep it for myself. If you had to change your life all over again, what part of your life would you change? This is a very hard question to answer because all the wrong things I passed through in my life have taught me a lot of lessons which in turn are so useful to me right now. But, if I had to change a part of my life I would change every single minute I have wasted thinking that it's so hard to become the person I am NOW. For the models who are starting their social media accounts or those who are trying to grow it, what is your advice? My advice for models who are starting their modelling life and growing their social media accounts, is that they have, to be honest with the content they are showing to people and to their fans. Just be you, post on your social media accounts things that are related to your lifestyle, and not things that are related to others' lifestyles. Tell us more about your life. Where you came from? What do you do? Your experiences? I am a very simple person, and I live a life of simplicity. I was born in Lebanon, a country in the Middle East and I grew up in a small village in the mountain. As a teenager, I entered the heath science faculty and studied Medical Technology. I used to be a rock vocalist in a small band with some friends; rock was my whole life for a; we. I consider myself a healthy person regarding food and sports. I believe in equality. I believe in God, and i believe that all people have the same God, but unfortunately some of them don't are that. I love literature a lot, and i read a lot of novels. My favorite novel is Count Dracula for Bram Stoker, and i read it more than 3 times. Movies is a big part of my life and i watch a movie every week. To be or not to be, a quote i though of every single day. We come to this life, we grow up, we age, we DIE. Its what we leave after our death is what counts. The good deeds to others is what counts. Final message? My final message for those who are starting their goals is never to stop, never quit, never surrender. You may face a lot of obstacles in your way while climbing the stairs, but please have faith in what you are, have faith that all those stars you watch in movies, all those politicians you listen to, all those scientists who are working on big things, all of those I mentioned were people no one heard about them before being famous. YOU can be the next star. Believe in that, no matter what you are doing just do it like a star and let the cosmic power of nature decide on the other part ;)

“The toughest moment in life was the passing of my mother. Ask anyone who has experienced it you don't overcome a loss like that but you allow time to cultivate a new normalcy for you and you live forward. Staying positive and being active creatively also helps. “

“Growing up in The Bronx during the 80's and 90's and using that to view the world in a different light, I use a saying a lot that goes "we're all looking at the same scene but I view things differently!" That comes from people telling me it must have been hard living in poverty but in reality I loved My up bringing because it allowed me to see life from that side where many will or haven't seen. Model: @_DamnitGina Creative Director: @HiLj750

“The toughest moment in my life was building my confidence, and my self-esteem level back up. After everything has been going wrong for me in the past two years no matter what I did. It took me a long time because I lost everything about my identity. But I overcame it by just accepting that everything isn't going to go right , and to learn from my mistake. Also to watch who I hang around, and what I decided to associate myself with.
