Before the pageant or the big day, every model should look at her/his best and have the required knowledge. Below are some tips that can be very helpful to the model

I advice models not to try new product on their body 23 days before the big day .This is mainly because you never know the side effects or how your skin will react to the product. Who would want to walk on a pageant with a rashly skin or with skin full of burns. Use what you have been using all along

Keep your body away from damage , sunburns cause these may result in creepy skin and even wrinkles. Also keep away from anything that can damage your skin eg loose wires , acids , rough walls

No model can go wrong with well taken care of hair. So get combing , shampooing and again make use of right products.

Always make sure that you are consuming the right food stuffs. Eating healthy also means consuming food and beverages that take care of any healthy problems you might be facing. Take in a lot of water because water has been proven to clear acne and brighten your skin

First impression is always vital , to kick start your modeling career on a high note you need a very vibrant model portfolio

It’s not all about good photo shoots but also a lot of planning goes in. Below I will share some guides that help in creating a killer portfolio

Firstly , you should know the type of model you want to be. To do this you should be aware of the stereotypes that are a part of the modeling industry Mostly your body shape , size and structure determine the type of model you can be. Be real to yourself , because forcing yourself to be a model type that doesn’t fit you may result in many rejections and very few deals Making an informed decision about the type of modeling you want to purse would bring clarity and focus on how you want to shape your portfolio For example freelance model would need a lot of variations in her shots , but a high fashion model would need to focus on high fashion images

When choosing the right photographer try not to choose your friends , relatives and also your model agency photographer I advice you to do your own research ,but you may ask for referrals and take your time. Have a look at the photographers portfolio and get to know their style of work.Choose a photographer whose area of expertise and style matches your vision and style It doesn’t matter whether you get your photoshoots by multiple photographers. WHAT MATTERS IS THE OUTCOME Lastly look into the package that the photographer is offering ie how many photos you get , rates and any extras , will the photos be in print or digital

How to

Walk Like a Catwalk

Model

Stand up straight! Keep your shoulders slightly back, and stand up as straight as possible .loosen your body while you stand tall. You do not have to hold your body stiff in order to stay tall. Practice appearing comfortable while walking tall by practicing in front of a mirror. Place one foot in front of the other and walk with long strides.

Walking like a catwalk model is simple to start; however, it is an art to perfect. Don’t worry though, because practicing is half the fun! .We will practice it in three phases. PHASE A: PHASE B: . And finally, PHASE C: work

Don’t go overboard with swinging your hips. You don’t have to be afraid of letting your hips move; however ,do not exaggerate the motion intentionally. Allow your arms to hang at your sides, and keep your hands relaxed. You do not need to swing Your arms quite as much as your body will naturally. Let your arms hang and swing only slightly. This will make you look cool and composed as you walk down the catwalk. Likewise, keep your Hands relaxed so that they are loosely cupped and slightly open. Also, don’t hold your fingers Together too closely. Practice walking with your heels on. No catwalk strut is complete without a tall pair of heels to Give you height. But, if you are not practiced in walking in high heels it can take some time getting Used to. Put on your heels in the morning while you are getting ready. Strut around to get used To walking like a model and walking in high heels at the same time

Set your chin facing slightly down. Don’t hang or droop your head; Don’t smile, and keep your mouth closed in a natural position . Look in the mirror and try to hold your mouth naturally

Get a rhythm down, and keep it consistent with your step. Listen to music with a strong beat That has an attitude that you like while you are practicing strutting with your heels on. Try to Concentrate on the attitude that you want to project, and sustain that look for as long as you can while walking. If you can put a rhythm and attitude in your step, your walk will come to life When you are on the catwalk, imagine the music that puts you in your groove and follow that groove. While you are stepping to the beat, remember to keep your shoulders back and body composed Strike your pose. Once you get to the end of the walk ,wait a beat ,and then lean on to one hip with all of your confidence and poise. You can look down at the audience now and break your focus for a moment. You don’t have to move your head much-your look should come mostly from the eyes.

Keep your eyes focused on something ahead of you. When it comes to making a good Supermodel facial expression, the emphasis in the facial expression is on the eyes and eyebrows. Keep your eyes fixed on a point, and do not look around you. Stay concentrated on Where you are going, and look alert and at attention. Focus on something that gives you purpose and it will show in your eyes. It may be tempting to make eye contact with someone in the audience; however, hold your facial expression, and avoid eye contact. Be careful not to trip as you are walking. You should occasionally check your walk with your Eyes only to keep yourself balanced and confident in your walk. Use a mirror or a friend to double-check how your look is coming across. Keep trying with Different looks until you find one that works as a supermodel look while feeling natural for you.

Types of Photoshoots This photoshoot idea works just like the movie Inception, a photograph within a photograph within a photograph. You get the idea. The way to do this is to schedule a two day photoshoot that allows you to shoot, print, and then shoot what you’ve shot, re-framing each image, adding tons of context and narrative in the process. Totally worth the effort.

Your family’s photo albums are a gold mine of photoshoot ideas. They’re jam-packed with inspiration. The colors and textures are gorgeous, and they’re just really fun. Why not do a photoshoot tribute to these vintage gems? Stage your own vintage house party (throw in some home brew) and shoot away!

Place yourself at a high vantage point over-looking a busy street on an overcast day, and shoot your model standing still among the busy crowd. When styling your model be sure to use bright bold colors not typically found on people, like yellow, hot pink and orange. Or else you can just have her dance in your studio. Either way, the results can be surprisingly poetic.

Political and social issues very very rarely inspire fashion editorials, there’s just nothing aspirational or glamorous about socio-political issues, and 99.9% of fashion editors insist that is what fashion should be – luxury, glamor, and $dollars$. It’s a real shame because, with the exception of movies, no other form of media gets as much air-time as photography. We know we know, most fashion photographers get into the business because it’s fun to be creative, but wouldn’t it be cool to make a social stand while making art?
