Marianist Values. Moeller Tradition. For 60 years, Archbishop Moeller High School has been forming our students into remarkable men: men of faith, men of academic excellence and men of character. This formation began at the very beginning with the first principal, Brother Lawrence Eveslage, SM, who created a culture rooted in the Marianist Tradition. Through honoring the characteristics of Faith Formation, Academic Excellence, Service to Others, Family Spirit and the ability to Adapt for Life, Brother Eveslage laid the foundation for Moeller to be the leader in educating young men. As we look to the next 60 years, Moeller will continue to be the recognized leader in educating young men, achieved by inspiring and developing our students and creating a family environment where our Mission is lived each day.

TERED.

The commitment and dedication of the Moeller Family is unparalleled. Anyone who is an alumnus, had a son, or knows some young man who attends Moeller quickly realizes that we are more than a school; we are a Family – for life. This Family is made of our teachers who are devoted to their craft and have an energy that transfers to the students they teach. The alumni who bring back their life experiences and share their Moeller pride. The counselors who are constantly working to ensure students have all the resources available to seamlessly transition to college. Our advancement team that works tirelessly to raise funds so more young men can experience all that Moeller has to offer. The administration that pursues the latest models to insure we continue to be the leaders in educating young men. And our parents and students, who are the hub and energy of Moeller.

RAISE the SHIELD Archbishop Moeller High School is at a pivotal moment in our storied history. As we continue to build the student-centered learning paradigm, we see the entire building as a learning tool. This capital campaign will allow us to transform the school into a place where learning and community can be nurtured and grown. It also will allow us to assist those families who want their sons to be remarkable young men with faith and character. The M Shield and its meaning are the inspiration for our campaign theme: Raise the Shield. The Crusaders found power in the strength of their shields and its importance to the well-being of the entire force, not just one member. The success of this campaign is dependent upon the whole Moeller Family unifying and raising the shield.

a lasting impact. Each year Moeller contributes more

scholarships to more than 350 families who aren’t able to afford a Moeller education. The Raise the Shield campaign will grow the school’s endowment so even more who wish to have a Moeller education can get one, even if they don’t have the means. This will allow the formation of more leaders and Men of Moeller. A Moeller education provides opportunities for access to higher education and educational growth at the highest levels. Contributions to our endowment are invested, not spent, providing annual revenue that supports tuition assistance and scholarships.

Classroom 2.0 Complete Classroom 2.0 was completed in the summer of 2019. This fully-funded $3 million renovation project is proof of Moeller’s continued commitment to the top-tier education of young men. Because classrooms aren’t the only places where students learn, we also renovated our chapel in the summer of 2019. We expanded the space for more students to worship, created a large mural of saints and built a timeless space to pray and reflect. This is just another example of our continued focus on our Catholic, Marianist identity.

Student Commons $3 million The Student Commons will be a central gathering place for the Moeller Family. It’s a place where community is built, brotherhood is forged

and

relationships

are

fostered.

This speaks to the very core of Moeller’s Mission. Moeller’s new Student Commons will enhance the lunchtime gathering experience and serve as a place where students can gather both before and after school and strengthen our already robust recruiting process for potential students and families when they visit Moeller.

Every day they broke bread together in their homes and ate together with gladness and sincere hearts. Acts 2:46

Innovation Hub $3 million Moeller’s Innovation Hub is designed to promote experiential learning and critical thinking and enhance teacher/student relationships – one of Moeller’s greatest strengths. Housing technology, art, engineering and business classes, this unique learning environment will combine the traditional classroom learning with the ability to give our students a competitive edge. It will be a place to think, build and expand their minds in a team-setting environment. This experiential- and active-learning atmosphere will set our students apart as leaders in today’s advanced education and workplace.

By having several disciplines in the Innovation Hub, we are able to teach our young men to think and analyze in ways essential in the 21st century workplace.

Performing Arts Center $1.0 million Catholic. Marianist. Forming our Students into Remarkable Men.

Performing Arts provides students with the opportunity to engage the mind and body into a collaborative expression. A fullyrenovated auditorium and creation of performing arts center will enhance this already rich program at Moeller. Through study and performance, students build confidence and embrace talents waiting to be developed through education. The 500seat performing arts center

will be a

gathering space where the Moeller Family watches performances and participates in presentations, spiritual gatherings and special events.

Moeller’s choir, band and theater programs engage over 250 students each year.

Archbishop Moeller High School Field of Dreams Athletic Complex Aerial

Sports Complex $1.5 million An impressive 30 acres of land were donated to Moeller for the growth of athletic programs. A new baseball stadium is a perfect way to honor Moeller’s rich athletic traditions. We are proud of our nine baseball state championships and will be able to honor those teams and baseball alumni alike. The first stage of this complex will include a wall of honors, celebrating our alumni, baseball team accomplishments and a turf baseball diamond. This surface will allow for more baseball and less rain outs. But most importantly, it’s a place where the baseball team and its fans can call home.

Secure Entrance and Administrative Offices $1.0 million Catholic. Marianist. Forming our Students into Remarkable Men.

The Marianists are known for their welcoming nature and their warm hospitality. We look to extend this kindness to all of our visitors, fans and alumni. It is, however, a balancing act to maintain a safe and secure environment for our students and continue to foster Marianist hospitality. The creation of a secured entrance is how we will be able to achieve both. This entrance will create an area for welcoming alumni and visitors and a separate entry for our sports fans and those gathering for events in the gymnasium. This project also includes building administration offices. By moving all administration to a central area, communication and collaboration become seamless.

Keeping schools safe allows students to look forward to being in an encouraging environment that promotes social and creative learning.

The Answer is Here

How will a gift to the campaign affect my Annual Fund gift? A gift to the Raise the Shield campaign will be in addition to your yearly Annual Fund gift. Moeller’s Annual Fund supports current tuition assistance needs and is part of our annual budget. This funding ensures we can provide essential programs and services, as well as award yearly tuition assistance to maintain current enrollment. The Fund is crucial to keep Moeller sustainable. If the Annual Fund doesn’t meet its goal, we will pull funds from the capital campaign.

How does Moeller’s endowment work? Today, thanks to the generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni and other benefactors, Moeller’s endowment has grown to more than $8.5 million. A significant portion of the endowment is donor restricted for financial aid and our named scholarship program. Proceeds from the endowment are used to fund financial assistance. In FY 2019, Moeller awarded over $1.7 million to over 350 families who were unable to afford Moeller’s tuition. A larger endowment will continue to cover the cost of financial aid and will provide a non-tuition revenue stream. Moeller’s endowment is managed by Bartlett Wealth Management and operates solely for the purpose of Moeller High School.

Is the goal to bring on any more debt? The Raise the Shield campaign will not create more debt for Moeller. The purpose of the campaign is to raise all the funds needed to meet the goal of the campaign and complete all stated projects.

Is there a plan for the current Activity Center? Currently the Activity Center is not in the scope of work. This campaign covers the items listed and phased for maintaining current school schedules and priorities.

Why aren’t we doing a football field? The 30+ acres of land were donated to Moeller for a new sports complex. At this point, the $14 million will be used primarily to address Moeller’s top priorities to renovate and expand Moeller’s current campus footprint and build a baseball stadium.

Why Now? Major improvements to the school’s classrooms, student commons and auditorium, performing arts classrooms and administration building are overdue and will only become costlier. Classroom improvements will provide our teachers with the necessary tools to prepare today’s students for success in college and beyond. In addition, providing best-in-class facilities cannot wait any longer The economic climate is such that raising substantial funds for major projects will only get more difficult.
