At the direction of Hyzdu, Moeller’s new brand/logo was created by Baker Associates based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The effort successfully encompasses the school’s mission - Catholic. Marianist. Forming our Students into Remarkable Men to form exemplary Catholic men, leaders, and contributors to our communities and society.
Over the years, Archbishop Moeller High School has had many logos. Nineteen different logos for sixteen athletic teams. A year ago, Marshall Hyzdu ‘96 took the helm as Moeller’s second president. With an extensive background in brand management and marketing, Hyzdu saw a glaring need to build strong brand equity, consistency in brand look, and brand voice. Moeller graduates are lifelong Men of Moeller. They are part of a strong community of brothers welded together through shared experiences -- a bond that transcends time, location, and life circumstances. They are part of a deep legacy and are carrying it forward. Moeller’s new brand is a symbol reflecting all of the traits that make Archbishop Moeller High School that stand proudly above the rest.
Moeller Creates a New and Unifying Brand February 1, 2017 began a new era in the storied history at Archbishop Moeller High School. A new brand was launched. A brand that represented and united the school with a look and feel uniquely “Moeller.” “We vetted the new logo with hundreds of alumni, parents, faculty, staff and students (current and prospective). The response has been overwhelmingly positive. We used the new logo in a campaign to drive Open House attendees, and our results were amazing -- increased attendance from 311 students to 483 students, or a +55 percent increase,” said Hyzdu.
New Moeller Shield Explained
The school held an assembly early February to discuss the new M-Shield logo and what it represents and the rationale behind the launch. “I believe this logo will positively impact Moeller’s admissions, advancement, and overall perception of our beloved school internally and externally. History tells us many of the strongest brands in the world refresh their logos with great success, including Apple and Pepsi, and we expect the same results for Moeller High School,” said Hyzdu.
THE ICONIC M Standing for the Blessed Virgin Mary, Men of Moeller and our cherished faith in the Marianist tradition. THE SHIELD Defender of virtue, Armor against the enemy, Protection from the evils of this world. Derived from traditional family crests, the shield also reflects the community amongst the Moeller brethren. ARCHED TOP Confident, but not boastful. Proud, but not ornate. A subtle nod to our numerous past triumphs and the way in which we carry ourselves. STRAIGHT SIDES Attentive, upstanding and vigilant. THICK OUTER LINE Bold and declarative. A graphic representation of the line we all walk on a daily basis – a line remarkable men do not cross – and an exterior wall protecting our family.
