Welcome to Moeller Summer 2023 Camps

Hosted by Moeller faculty, coaches, current and former students, Moeller youth camps offer age-appropriate activities that encourage skill development, teamwork, curiosity, positive attitudes and a lot of fun –taught the Moeller Way! Athletic Camps

Unless otherwise noted, athletic camps are for boys only. Unless otherwise noted, all camps take place at Moeller High School, 9001 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45242

Baseball Camp

Monday, June 19 - Thursday, June 22

Session 1: Grades 6-8; 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Session 2: Grades 3-5; 1-4 pm

This camp will cover all of the fundamentals of baseball – hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, base running as well as infield and outfield play. Games are also part of the daily schedule. Baseball camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller baseball players. Please bring a baseball glove, bat and helmet. Campers can leave their baseballs at home!

Third graders who register for both baseball camp/Session 2 and basketball camp/Session 3 can remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from basketball camp to lunch to baseball camp. Lunch must be provided by the camper.

Baseball Mini Camp

Monday, June 5 & Tuesday, June 6; 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Incoming Moeller freshmen

This camp is designed to introduce incoming Moeller freshman to Moeller baseball. The camp will concentrate on the skills needed at the freshman level. Please note that this camp will take place at the new Bucher Athletic Complex in Miamiville.

Basketball Mini Camp

This camp introduces Moeller basketball to incoming Moeller freshmen. Coaches will concentrate on developing skills needed to compete at the high school level.

This camp will teach the fundamentals of basketball, teamwork and good sportsmanship through various skill sessions, competitions and games. Basketball camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller basketball players. Campers can leave their basketballs at home! Each participant will receive a basketball and camp t-shirt. Session 1 and 2 campers must provide their own lunch.

Third graders who register for both basketball camp/Session 3 and baseball camp/Session 2 are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from basketball camp to lunch to baseball camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Basketball Summer League

Tuesday, May 30 – Thursday, June 1; Monday, June 5 – Friday, June 9

Game times are 3:30-4:30 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Grades 8-9 / Limit 100 campers

This league will give 8th and 9th graders the opportunity to play under the guidance of Moeller coaches. No practices; just games. Participants are placed on teams and are guaranteed seven games. Rosters and game schedules will be emailed prior to the start of the league. Each participant will receive a reversible jersey.

Cheer Camp

Saturday, Aug. 5; 9 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Grades K-8, girls only

Join the Moeller cheerleaders to learn how to cheer on the Blue and Gold! We will be teaching cheers, chants, and dance, along with the fundamentals of cheerleading. All levels welcome. Families are invited to join campers for a performance at 12:15 p.m. Cheer camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches and assisted by current Moeller cheerleaders. Be sure to bring a water bottle.

Football Camp

Session 1: Monday, June 12 – Thursday, June 15; 1-3:30 p.m.

This camp will teach football fundamentals. Campers will be introduced to play within several position groups and will participate in various competitions. Football camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller football players. Campers can leave their footballs at home!

This camp will teach the fundamentals of a variety of sports and playground games including whiffle ball, kickball, soccer, basketball, T-ball and volleyball (beach ball). Campers will be encouraged to develop their coordination, balance and sportsmanship skills. Fun and Games instruction is provided by Moeller staff assisted by current Moeller students.

This camp includes an all-you-can-eat lunch provided by SAGE Dining, Moeller’s food service program. The peanut-free and allergen-friendly menu will include a variety of options, such as deli sandwiches, fruit, pasta and pizza. Menu details will be released prior to camp start.

FUNdamentals

Monday, July 17 – Thursday, July 20; 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Grades 2-6

This camp will teach the fundamentals of a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball and wrestling. Campers will be placed in groups by grade level and will stay in this group as they rotate stations throughout the day. Each group will visit each of the seven sport stations every day for instruction and games.

Ice Hockey Camp at Northland Ice Center

This co-ed camp will teach the fundamentals of hockey, teamwork and good sportsmanship through drills and competition. Hockey camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by Moeller hockey players.

Lacrosse Camp

Session 1: Monday, July 10 – Thursday, July 13; 6-8 p.m.

This camp will teach the fundamentals of lacrosse, including individual position skills and team concepts. Beginners and experienced players are welcome! Lacrosse camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller lacrosse players. Participants must bring their own equipment.

Rugby Camp

Monday, June 19 – Thursday, June 22; 6-8 p.m.

This camp will teach the fundamentals of rugby, including the skills of passing, tackling and rucking. (There will be no child-on-child contact. However, campers will use pads in supervised drills.) This camp is for all experience levels! Rugby camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current Moeller rugby players.

Soccer Camp

This camp will teach the fundamentals of soccer through drills and competition. Soccer camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller soccer players.

This camp will cover the fundamentals of volleyball including serving, passing, setting, attacking and blocking. The camp will also teach team offensive rotations, serve receive and defense. The week will conclude with a camp tournament. Volleyball camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller volleyball players.

Wrestling Camp

Monday, July 24 – Friday, July 28; 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Grades K-12

This camp will teach both experienced and novice wrestlers how to improve their fundamental wrestling skills. Campers will be exposed to the system of wrestling that has launched Moeller to consistent top state and national rankings. Wrestling camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller wrestlers. (Please note: campers in grades 9-12 do not have to be Moeller students.)

Wrestling INTENSITY Camp

Saturday, June 10 & Sunday, June 11; 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Grades 5-12 (must have at least 3 years of wrestling experience)

The two-day program includes an intense focus on the sport of wrestling, including wrestling live and a high level of technical training. Wrestling Camp instruction is provided by Moeller coaches assisted by current and former Moeller wrestlers. (Please note: campers in grades 9-12 do not have to be Moeller students.)

Art Camp

Monday, June 12 – Thursday, June 15

Session 1: Grades 6-8, boys and girls, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Art Camp: Makin’ Zines will submerse campers in creative brain candy and creating characters for narrative illustration. Participants will make zines (mini art themed books) using sketchbooks to make creative brain-candy inspired pages and art cards with mixed media materials. Visual journals pages and zines are great ways to engage students in long-term and short-term topical/ theme-based work. Campers will construct a variety of works culminating in an exhibition on the final day.

Session 2: Grades 3-5, boys and girls, 1-3 p.m.

Art Camp: Creatures and Creativity Camp encourages campers to work with a variety of materials to create a multitude of works designed to encourage creativity, independence and confidence. Participants will construct a variety of works culminating in a student-designed exhibition on the final day of camp when all are welcome to join us for the final hour. Art Camp instruction is provided by Moeller faculty.

Chemistry Camp

Monday, June 5 – Thursday, June 8; 9-11:30 a.m.

Grades 7-8, boys and girls

$110 (Enroll in Chemistry and Engineering for a reduced price of $185)

This co-ed camp will teach chemistry through numerous hands-on activities and labs. Participants will study density, concentration, gas laws, freezing point depression and the periodic table as well as physical and chemical changes. (Please note that labs and demonstrations will be the same curriculum as was taught in the summer of 2022.)

Campers who register for both Chemistry and Engineering are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from Chemistry camp to lunch to Engineering camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Engineering Camp

This co-ed camp will teach the fundamentals of engineering through a variety of hands-on activities and projects.

Campers who register for both Chemistry and Engineering are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from Chemistry camp to lunch to Engineering camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Robotics Camp

Monday, June 19 – Thursday, June 22; 9-11:30 a.m.

Grades 6-8, boys and girls

$110 (Enroll in Coding and Robotics for a reduced price of $185)

This co-ed camp encourages participants to explore their creativity in designing, building and working with robots. The inquiry-driven approach allows everyone to have fun in exploring robotics, whether new or well experienced in these field of study.

Campers who register for both Robotics and Coding are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from Robotics camp to lunch to Coding camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Coding Camp

Monday, June 19 – Thursday, June 22; 12:30–3 p.m.

Grades 6-8, boys and girls

This co-ed camp will teach the basics of creating a web page, including page structure, content and design. This camp is for beginners and intended to introduce students to the fundamentals of HTML and CSS.

Campers who register for both Robotics and Coding are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from Robotics Camp to lunch to Coding Camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Color Guard Camp

Monday, June 12 – Friday, June 16; 9-11:30 a.m.

Grades 5-8, boys and girls / Limit 20 campers

This co-ed camp gives participants a look into what it takes to be a member of the Moeller Color Guard and the Moeller Winter Guard with a special focus on dance, flag work, and body movement. Working alongside staff and members of the Moeller/MND Band, campers will work with the traditional equipment of color guard – flags, rifles, and sabers. Never done guard before? No problem! Try something different! The week will culminate with a performance open to families on Friday morning.

Campers who register for both Color Guard and Summer Music Experience are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from Color Guard camp to lunch to Summer Music Experience camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Crusader Lego Camp

Monday, June 26 – Thursday, June 29; 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Grades 3-6, boys and girls

This camp will engage imagination, design, and creativity as campers compete against each other in daily Lego Challenges to be crowned Crusader Lego Master! Challenges will include topics such as physics/science, storytelling, art/fashion and historical recreation. Bring on the spectacular creations!

Summer Music Experience

Monday, June 12 – Friday, June 16; 12:30–3 p.m.

Grades 5-8, boys and girls / Limit 30 campers

(Enroll in Color Guard Camp and Summer Music Experience for a reduced price of $185)

This camp is open to boys and girls who have at least one year of band or private music lesson experience. Woodwind, brass, string, piano and percussion player are all welcome! Working alongside staff and members of the Moeller/ MND Band, campers will prepare musical selections (both current and traditional) while learning techniques that will push them to become better musicians. Participants will work as a team, practice like professionals and use

Speech and Debate Camp

Monday, June 26 – Thursday, June 29; 12:30-3:30p.m.

Grades 6-8 / Limit 15 campers

This camp will give participants the opportunity to hone their skills as arguers, listeners and speakers. Campers can expect to learn the parts of argument, ways to rebut an opponent and research skills for debate. The group will engage in formal and informal debates that will be guided and judged by Moeller’s Speech and Debate coach and team members.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ESports Camp

Monday, June 26 – Thursday, June 29; 9-11:30 a.m.

Grades 5-8, boys and girls

Gamers unite! Led by Moeller’s State Finalist Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ESports Team and Moderator Mike Shaffer, this camp will teach participants the skills needed to compete in official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ESport competitions. New to the world of electronic gaming? No problem! All levels are welcome!

Man of Moeller Leadership Camp

Monday, Aug. 7 & Tuesday, Aug. 8; 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Grades 6-8

This camp will introduce vital leadership skills and traits the Moeller Way! A variety of speakers and activities will teach participants how to become remarkable leaders. Campers must bring their own lunch.

The Creatives Camp

Monday, June 5 – Thursday, June 8; 9-11:30 a.m.

Grades 6-8, boys and girls

Creatives Camp will develop campers’ creative talent and interests via activities, games, and creative workshops. Storytelling, art, improv/theatre, podcasting, and song writing will all be included in this inventive week. No previous experience necessary in any of these artforms; everyone has a creative streak. Camp instruction is provided by Moeller’s Writer in Residence, Mr. Girard, a Moeller English teacher of 19 years with an MA and MFA in creative writing, playwright/director, and a NY Times best-selling author.

High School Placement Test Prep Camp

Session 1: Monday, July 24 – Friday, July 28

8:30-10 a.m. OR 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Grade 8

This camp works to strengthen test-taking skills, master time management strategies, motivate and build self-confidence. Participants will learn what to expect on HSPT test day. All students in each session will report on the Friday of their camp week at 8:30 a.m. for the HSPT practice test.

Each student will need to purchase a test prep book and complete a practice test prior to camp. Our faculty will release the book title and instructions for the practice test this spring.
