Although posting o 4 win 5 loss seaso~ record thus far, Newport has never lost badly, and in four 'of their losses the losing margin totaled o';,iy 27 points. The Thoroughbreds battled o strong Covington Holmes team down to the wire before suciumbing by the unusol score of 7 to 4; they dropped a close 6-0 game to perennial state power Ashland and undefeated Hamilton Catholi was able to eke out a bare one touchdown victory. \ I Newport counts among its victories an i . m p r L .: ? over . 'Fleming County and a 36-24 win over G.C.L. representative McNicholas. '\ •
.
~
The Thoroughbreds are led in the line by Dave and Joe Condradi ot tackles, and Lorry Bro~ring at center.
sure-handed end,

Chuck Ketterer, o hard running fullback, and Jim Vennefron, o shifty halfback, thrusts for Newport. \

Moeller's Fighting Crusaders have postejla•fine 7-2 season so far, and the last 4 vi ries have come consecutively on the heels of mid-season back to back losses to G.C.L. leaders, Baco and Elder.
oft
In last week's 21-0 victory over Arch-ri!a Purcell, the offensive blocking Hall, Don Rahe, and Bill Herberth opened the way for big gains b/halfback AI Stickler and Jack Monahan, and the running of Jerry Buckmaster complemented his fine passr· g with oil-league end candid~(e Don Schmid once again the principal target.
