Here is a write up that I sent Johanna at the beginning of May. We ended the season 9-2 and ranked sth in the state. We are a varsity sport (so each gets a Moeller M), follow all school and state policies concerning eligibility. We travel to Louisville this weekend to play the Shelbyville Rugby Football Club. Saturday, May 16th is the city tournament. Winner of that goes on to play in the state tournament on Memorial Day weekend. There are about 40 students involved in the program. Seniors Will Blum, Charlie Blum and Eric Schlueter were the most active and influential to bringing rugby to Moeller. They had played on a local club for a couple years and wanted to play for Moeller. When the guys asked me to be the coach, I jumped at the opportunity. I've been very impressed with their dedication and passion. Our team is made up of many varsity athletes from football, soccer, boxing and wrestling ... but we also have a number of guys who have never lettered for Moeller before. To see this diverse group of young men coming together to represent Moeller has been a highlight of my teaching and coaching career. Not to mention that they are a pretty dang good rugby team too!!!
