Moeller won the Ohio High School rugby championship last weekend as the Crusaders defeated Parma 19-7 at Crew Stadium in Columbus. . Moeller, which has had rugby for two years, finished the season with a i7-0 record. During the state final, Moeller sophomore fly half Eric Lalley had two touchdowns that put the Crusaders up 14-0 at the end of the first half. In the second half, Joe Bracken scored off a serum, which made the score 19-0. 'There were several hundred people who followed the team to Columbus ... ," athletic director Barry Borman said in a statement. "Like all the other athletic programs In our school, rugby is quickly laying a foundation of excellence that is contributing to the rich traditions of our school." ' BOYS'
BASKETBALL:
The second Midwest Hoops High School Shootout will be June 1819 at Sports Plus in Evendale. Games will be played 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $5 each day. There will be games on all six courts and each school will play five games over the two days. Participating schools include Aiken, Anderson, Cincinnati Country Day, Hamilton, Holmes, Hughes, Indian Hill, Loveland, Mariemont, McNicholas, Madeira, Mentor, Milford, Moeller, Mount Healthy, New Princeton, Richmond, Purcell Marian, Roger Bacon, Taft, Walnut Hills, Western Hills, Winton Woods and Withrow. State-bound Crusaders The Moeller High School rugby team celebrates winning the city tournament May 15 with awin over Indian Springs. They played in the state tournament May 22 at Ohio State, but the score was unavailable by press time. The team is 16-0 since season started and outscored their opponents with acombined score of 385-35. The team will be featured in a future issue. PROVIDED
