“ Dean of Academics

Dr. Christine Brookbank

I am a lifelong learner. While pursuing my doctorate in education, I enjoyed collaborating with educators and thought leaders from across the globe. Here at Moeller, we are blessed with innovative, passionate teachers. I look forward to collaborating with them to promote a 21st century learning environment for our students.

As dean of student life, I will be working to help every student to be as successful as possible. All research indicates that students do better academically and are less likely to get into trouble when they are happy at school and feel accepted. Through our House System, extracurricular activities and campus ministry programming, we seek to prevent disciplinary issues before they start by being proactive in getting our students involved.

Being in education and working with students give me the opportunity to learn something new every single day. I enjoy seeing things through the eyes of our students and sharing my experience with them as well. Moeller is a special place with a family-like atmosphere. We look after each other and work together to ensure we’re all working hard and achieving our goals.

“New times demand new methods,” Blessed Chaminade said. At Moeller, we are living his words. In service to this commitment, we continue to evolve our REALearning model:

Drew Held ’22

“I never thought I’d say this, but I actually like to learn. Our teachers know guys learn differently and are constantly finding relational, experiental and authentic ways to teach. This shows their commitment to all of us. They also genuinely care about us and how we’re doing. They make me want to do better!”

Campus Ministry Moeller works to foster in young men with a vision of becoming men for Christ. The Marianist Charism calls us to make faith the center of our lives, and the Gospels teach us that the center of faith is a desire to serve and create a just society “on earth as it is in heaven.” All Moeller students are encouraged to create this life of faith by engendering a willingness to serve the larger human community.

Ethan Collins ’22

“The international service projects offered by Moeller are a unique way to minister to those in need. They provide opportunities to learn about cultures in other parts of the world, while also allowing us to continue to live the characteristics of a Marianist Education. These trips make a difference in the lives we help and also in our own.”

The House System

150 HOUSE

LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

The House System creates smaller groups within the Moeller Family. We are a school that strives to educate the whole man – Mind, Body and Spirit – all within a Community of Brothers. The House System is an integral part of this commitment. Each student belongs to one of six houses, made up of all grade levels. The house is further divided into seven mentor groups led by a member of the faculty. These small groups of students meet every day and remain together for four years, building community while nurturing and celebrating each student’s talents in a supportive environment.

“As a mentor teacher, my role is to help our students navigate their time at Moeller. I’m able to see their academic success, encourage them and make sure they are engaged and involved. It’s rewarding to watch students build lasting relationships across grade levels with one another. I have a daily view of how Moeller educates the whole man – Mind, Body and Spirit.”

Performing Arts The Art/Photography and Design Department has the ability to work one-on-one with students, continually crafting and developing a program that positions them to go into any creative field.

Bobby Whitacre ’11 Xavier University Moeller Art Teacher

“When I was a student, Mr. Stanforth always encouraged us to be open to critique and to use those critiques as a way to grow as artists. As a teacher, I employ those same strategies by encouraging my students to improve and solve problems. I want them to look at art as their own personal diary, providing them an opportunity to reflect and develop both as an artist and as a person.”

Band and Marching Band at Moeller are academic electives. Band and percussion classes meet during the school day. All students participate in public performances as members of the Moeller Band.

The Theater Program presents three major productions as well as various performance and technical workshops each year. It’s supported by a large group of theatre professionals who work with the students. Men’s Chorus performs at several Moeller events throughout the year, including Mass, assemblies and even Cincinnati Reds games. The students who join the chorus find it encourages confidence and builds strong leadership skills.

Student Run Business As part of its educational philosophy of REALearning: Relational, Experiential, Authentic learning, Archbishop Moeller High School opened its own student-run business. This offering will give students unique, real-world business and finance perspective all with the security and oversight of the business department faculty. The Moeller student-run business is an apparel decorating business, focusing on printed and embroidered products. The class will focus all aspects of starting and running a business, including building a business from scratch, learning accounting and financial components of a business, managing the sales and marketing of the business and products, developing and designing work of the apparel products, learning business operations and functions, and other important business skills. The students may also choose to work in the student run business after school hours as employees. The 2021 school year marks the inaugural year for the business.
