A word from the CEO Hello Thank you for getting this far! I'm really delighted to be part of The Mix and all we do here. As our mission statement makes clear we're here to empower and enable young people to change their world and ours. So many people do that in so many ways, and this brochure gives you an idea of what goes on. So whether you're young or not so young please take a look and spread the word. Don't forget, as well as everything we do for young people, we're open to everyone. Our award-winning cafe is open Monday to Friday serving barista coffee and a range of freshly cooked food, and we have fabulous facilities available to hire. Drop-in
What:
Free open access drop-in for all young people in high school years 7-12 Come in and hang out at The Mix, it’s FREE!
ACTIVITIES
The drop-in is your place to hang out, invite friends, play games, chill, chat or challenge the team to a game or two. We have a whole host of activities and games for you to get involved in, we’d love to see you. On Wednesdays you can also sign up to use Vorpal recording studios for rehearsals or recordings for free. Booking is essential - email vorpal@themixstowmarket.com to book your slot. So what does open access mean? No one is required to stay for the duration and can come and go as they choose to. Please check our website for upcoming dates and times.

Mixed Voice
Projects Be the difference you want to see in your community through projects led by young people. What’s your passion? What’s not okay in your community? This is your space to have a say and more importantly, to act.

Photography School
Our award-winning Photography School is a great opportunity for developing your photographic skills. Meet other young people with similar interests and work on real-life briefs, photo shoots, shape your editing skills and go out on location! This programme is for young people in school years 7-12, and spaces are limited so register your interest now! Now that’s music that sounds good and does good! 100% of all profit goes directly to supporting young people in and around Stowmarket. Our recording studio and sound services combine cutting edge music technology and value for money to provide a great service and experience. From individual rehearsals to fullyfledged single or album recording and production, our acoustically treated live room and mixing room have everything you need to get your sound the way you want it. Vorpal recording studio and sound services are available to the whole community. Prices start from just £10 per hour.

Cabbages & Kings
The award-winning Cabbages & Kings is quickly becoming an established coffee shop within the Stowmarket community.
Serving locally roasted Frank & Earnest barista or cafetiere coffee and tea by the pot load, Cabbages & Kings is the place to be! Our team consisting of innovative employed staff, passionate volunteers and enthusiastic trainees are always striving to provide a quality service and fantastic customer experience. We offer a range of paninis, sandwiches, baguettes, salads and baked potatoes, not forgetting our everpopular breakfast and pancake menu. There really is something for everyone. We aim to always offer healthier options and alternatives for people with allergies and intolerances as often as we can. Our team are always happy to assist whenever possible. In 2016 Cabbages & Kings achieved some wonderful things! From picking up Local Business of the Year at The Stowmarket Town Council Awards to helping and inspiring our young trainees to find regular work. We have also created a fantastic secure area for families and care givers to bring their young children to play while they enjoy a well-deserved cup of tea or coffee.
None of this would be possible without the help and support of our fantastic customers and The Mix team. This year we are looking forward to continuing to offer fantastic opportunities for our trainees to develop their skills and confidence to find regular work while extending quality service and produce to our valued customers. We also look forward to furthering Cabbages & Kings’ outside catering and buffet service to private and corporate customers with our awesome Platters menu (buffet) and Plates menu (a la carte). These can be picked up from The Mix reception or Cabbages & Kings. Cabbages & Kings are passionate about providing a service not just directly to our customers but to the community, principally young people in and around Stowmarket. Neil is the Chief Executive Officer. Neil likes to travel, ski, sail and sometimes dabbles in DIY.
Dave is the Operations Manager. Dave is an allround awesome guy, and fancies himself as a bit of a Bear Grylls.
Lucy is the Project CoOrdinator of The Mix and the BRIX account handler. Lucy claims to be a mermaid despite having no emperical proof.
Sam is the Lead Youth Worker. He loves cycling, snowboarding and travelling, especially where there are mountains.
Ryan is our Recording Studio Manager & Youth Worker. Ryan is a collector of hats and bad jokes.
Ross is the Facilities Manager. He is a well loved member of the team and likes to keep everyone’s spirits high.

Rosie is a Catering Assistant with Cabbages & Kings and apparently a “Social Media guru”. She was awarded the “most clumsy person of the year” at uni.
Casper is a Catering Assistant with Cabbages & Kings. He is the male equivalent of Mary Berry and loves winding Rosie up (as we all do)
Lisa is our Finance Manager. She loves 80’s music, is fond of a latte or two and is our answer to Rachel Riley!

Children & Young People’s Services at The Mix There are two teams based at The Mix. The Early Help team offers information, guidance and support for children aged 0-19 and their families. The Social Care team works with children and families where there are more complex or challenging issues.
In the Social Care team at the mix we: •

Safeguard the welfare of children who are in the care of the Suffolk County Council.
