22 This corner house is designed for a contractor. The owner has special request to provide a bedroom for his elderly mother. This affects the lay-out and circulation of the rooms. Initially, the owner was interested to tropical style house. But, along the design process, he changed his mind to modern style. The building mass is divided into three masses forming U shape with an inner courtyard and a swimming pool in the middle. The first mass is located in the south part which includes a living room, a dining room, and a garage on the ground floor, a storeroom and a fitness room on the mezzanine, and two master bedrooms for the owner and his wife, also for his son and daughterin-law.
The second mass, located at the east, orientates based on the shape of the site, which gets narrower to the north. This second mass includes the owner’s mother bedroom on the ground floor, a guest room and a library on the first floor. Meanwhile, the third mass is located on the west side to provide service rooms which are a kitchen and a driver room on the first floor, two maid rooms and an iron room on the mezanine, and a laundry and drying room on the first floor. The idea for the facade is the second mass which is tilted on the east side to embrace the first mass on the south side. This is achieved by colliding the second mass to the first mass. On the ground floor, the colliding area forms a gap which is utilized as the main entrance which is reinforced by extruding box that cross the fence that is formed by a repetition of wooden frames.

32 Rumah Sutera Intan is a renovation project in Alam Sutera, precisely in the Sutera Intan cluster. The classic-looking building style in this clustter is in contrast to what the Owner wants, which is a white house with a clean and modern look. But with an a budget of approximately 800-900 million for this project, we propose to maintain the look of the building and coat the building with white paint so that it remains clean, not too crowded with ornaments. Then, it is the interior space that will be designed with modern nuances. The space requirement in this building is somewhat much for a house with 200 square meters of land that is planned to be inhabited by four adults (husband and wife, niece, the client’s sister) and two children. The client has a penchant for cooking, so the kitchen area became one of the space that gets special attention and is quiet big. Moreover, the children who are still in school also need a room for group learning.
The client’s sister, who stays in Singapore and often comes to Indonesia to stay over is in need of one area of her own (pavilion). Therefore, most of the ground floor of this house is used as a residence with living room, pantry, bathroom, bedroom and its own entrance. In the existing building there is a large void that was initially asked to be closed by the client to create a new room. However, we do not recommend that because it will darken the ground floor with not enough sunlight and block the air circulation as well. Therefore, the void is reduced but not all fully colsed, so that the air circulation can flow smoothly and there is incoming sunlight.

80 An office is a space to work and socialize with coworkers. However social space is often left aside. PT Elo Karsa Utama, one of the companies in the healthcare equipment field, is aware of this issue and has a desire to build a complete office with additional facilities for employees to socialize. It is intended to improve the communication and performance of employees by providing shared dining room and fitness room. The site which is located on Jl. Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, gives an opportunity for this office to be a landmark of the area. Because most of the buildings around the site have monotonous boxy shapes and sharp angles, Monokroma proposes a design of an office with a more refined form in responding to the issue.
Moving from a trapezoidal footprint with partial use of the land as a parking lot, the ground floor area is triangularly right-angled. The organic form is obtained by collecting the corners of the triangle. The government regulation (KLB) allows the freedom to build no more than 2.116 m2 with 7 storeys building height. On the 1st floor, there is a larger balcony that is intended as the foot of the building, which also serves as a canopy at the main entrance area.

94 HEADQUARTER INTERIOR The interior design of this headquarter begins with a concept exploration to change the typical perception of banks that tend to be too formal, cold which makes people want to complete banking in hurry and go home quickly. Based on the results of the analysis, Monokroma offers the concept of ‘Lifestyle Banking’ to make the interior of the bank to be more casual, cozy and warm so that visitors feel comfortable when they come to discuss their financial affairs. With a contemporary ‘coffeeshop’ atmosphere and a mini coffee bar, the interior atmosphere of the J-Trust bank really spoils its customers while visiting and waiting in their queue.
The high ceiling space provides the potential for a mezzanine that can be utilized for priority customer service. This area is given a more exclusive feel which also makes the ground floor feels more spacious. The meszanine also makes the ceiling of the room lower so that the scale of the room feels more intimate and warm, let alone reinforced with wooden lattice material that serves as a mezanine railing as well as finishing ceiling below it.

branch office interior design
The interior of the branch office is designed to have continuity with the interior design of the headquarter by using a curved ceiling, curved teller table and herringbone parquet floor mixed with ceramic mosaic motif. The floor plan is designed with a zig-zag slant so that it adds a long impression to the archway’s ‘alley’ and the remaining spaces are used as customer service ‘cubicles’, waiting couches and ATM machines.

The design of this branch office facade is taken from the abstraction of the J-Trust bank logo form. The abstraction generates several design variations as showen above. The intention of this facade design is to try to create a contrast with the facade of the surrounding shophouses to be more eyecatching and inviting, as well as to provide its own distinctive character that could be the design identity or be part of the corporate branding of the J-Trust Bank. With strong characteristic, this facade form is expected to give a more memorable impression for the target market of the J-Trust Bank.

110 This project takes place in the new Terminal 3 Ultimate of Soekarna Hatta Airport Jakarta that is located in Tangerang, Banten. The company dreams of an office that incorporates its corporate color to appear in a contemporary ambience. Contemporary design tends to promote open-plan and fluidity along the workspace, so in the final plan, there is a main entrance (from outside corridor) with a lobby to connect each department’s entrance. With this plan, we have a potential to get a focal point to disintegrate the workspace rigidity.
The curvy form of the lobby is intended to be a welcoming gesture that is repeated inside the workspace are with the circular focal point. We use light wood texture color to match and balance the dark blue corporate color, creating a balance of warm and cool space for the

Based on extensive research, the design outlined here represents the identity of Aeropolis it self. ‘Aero’ can be defined as aeroplane in english. So then, the signage and the entry statement area have a similiar form with the aeroplane parts. This standards manual will help you to understand the consumation standards of how to produce the signage and the entry statement. MARKET HOTEL a Design Concept for a Boutique Hotel in Bali Client: Undisclosed | Location: Bali Area: 8,000 m2 | Floors: 5

132
This is a preliminary concept for a development feasibility study to build a budget hotel in Kuta Bali. We are to design a hotel that is mixed with traditional art market so the guests will experience something unique and rich in local Balinese context. First, we do an extensive research around the site, what attraction and accommodation that exist there. The site itself eventually is a traditional art market. So, we don’t want to eliminate it, but instead incorporate it to the design. We analyze how the art interact with the society and tourism to search for potentials that can be integrated to the design.
The result is a boutique art hotel which is mixed with traditional art market in the ground level, inviting potential guests ‘inside’ the hotel by exploring the art market, but still separating between the public and the private area. Hence the hotel common area, such as restaurants, gift shops, business center, art gallery, exhibition hall, massage and spa are blended with the public art market area. We make two contrasting alternatives for the client to choose. One is using Balinese architectural style with red bricks and rigid form, while the other use modern contemporary style with exposed concrete and more fluid curvy form.

make the building massing look less massive, we divide the podium into many rectangular boxes and twist it to make unique spaces between the intersections.
The client intends to develop a piece of land in the middle of a growing suburban area. There are several universities and offices near the site, so it is considered profitable to supply for accommodation.
Each tower also functions slightly different. The highest tower, having double height ceiling, is a business loft tower, while the middle funcion as two and three bedroom apartment, and the shortest as studio apartment. These different in floor-to-floor height is intended to give a hierarchy while maintaining the highest permitted building height to optimize the floor area ratio.
To optimize the floor area ratio, we design a high rise building with three towers and a joint podium that is used to accomodate commercial and leasure programs which also function as the apartments facilities. To

It is a business tender design project connecting Terminals A and B in Jogjakarta Adisucipto Airport, commisioned by Angkasa Pura Property. The roof shape is inspired by the aerodynamic concept commonly used in aircraft design. This shape lessen the monotaenity of the relatively long hallway of the airport. The steel lattice shape seems to be opening up in order to give the illusion of a wider space so that visitors do not feel as if they are in a narrow hallway when walking through it. The landside that does not have any attractive scenery is covered with wall and integrated with art of temple carvings which tells about the history of the city of Jogjakarta.

It is a business tender design collaborated with PT. Angkasa Pura Property to renovate the toilet of Adisutjipto Airport in Jogjakarta. In this project, we try to design a modern and efficient toilet for a heavy duty performance with a touch of traditional ambience. It is achieved by using material selection and lighting design. Tiles with a traditional pattern is used in the entrance as a focal point and to give strong impression of traditional ambience. We also play with a balance composition of cool marble color in some sides of the wall and warm tile on the floor which is enhanced by the warm white lighting.

This is a closed competition project to design the interior of Tokopedia Tower in Kuningan Jakarta. As one of the first unicorns in Indonesia, Tokopedia wants a new headquarter that represents their company spirit. William Tanywijaya, the CEO of Tokopedia, once said that a third of our lives are spent in the office, so they call their office as nest. So we develop this concept and make a giant eggshell form which is covered by a nest-like material made of synthetic rattan. These giant nests will function as small meeting rooms in the grand lobby of Tokopedia Tower. These nests will be attached on a massive vertical garden that cover the backdrop wall of the lobby, creating an indoor lavish garden on top of this modern office tower.
The grandeur of the lobby will be emphasized by giant slides which could be used by employees or guests to slide down from the mezanine. This curvy slides will serve as a focal point that brings a playful ambience to the whole office in general. This playful intention is also implemented in the outdoor part of the grand lobby. We designed two jacuzis for men and women, a 3-on-3 basketball court, an outdoor gym, a barbeque pantry, and a cozy lounge.

This is a competition to design an airport in Mali Alor, Nusa Tenggara Timur, as one of the new tourist destinations that is being focusly promoted by the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia. The competition brief simply requires the participants to present a unique airport design with a strong traditional architectural style that gives an authentic experience of the spirit of place. Monokroma tries to develop a concept that comes from the gesture of the traditional dance in Alor. This gesture is abstracted in the form of the roof modules. Just as a dance is a composition of many gestures and movements, the roof modules are also consist of different forms which vary in its opening
level. The opening in the modules serves as a skylight that is intended to bring natural light into the airport terminal. In order to enhance the traditional ambience of the airport, the walls are finished with a pattern of red brick composition which gives a strong traditional sense to every passenger. This sense is also supported by a composition of wooden ceiling in the drop off area, in order to give an authentic first impression.

This competition invited architects to design a new art and cultural center in the heart of Jimbaran that reflect the richness of Balinese architecture as well as contemporary design style. Rapid globalization could threaten the existence of local wisdom and values. People will not be aware of their own identity and culture if it is not maintained, preserved and promoted, especially to young generation. A progressive developer in Bali wants to preserve and promote the local Balinese culture by designing a new art and cultural center for young people from around the world to learn and practice the richness of Balinese culture in a contemporary way of promoting popular culture.
Monokroma proposes a concept that confronts old traditional values with modern imagination in one place. With an open platform, we separate the contemporary style on the ground floor and the Balinese style in the first and second platform. The plan scheme is arranged according to “Sanga Mandala, an ancient Balinese principle of home masterplanning. The modern part is an open plan and always be flexible to change, while the traditional part will always be preseved as a remembrance of its cultural richness.

208 This is a competition to design a new medical center in RSUP dr Kariadi, a central public hospital in Semarang. This new medical center will be an integrated medical service building for cardiac treatment and general surgery. There is a set of program requirements for every floor that is prescribed on the competition term of reference. Collaborating with Dadan Adriansyah, architect and masterplaner, who has reputable experience in designing hospitals, we rearrange the building program so that it is efficiently distributed in the eight floors of this building while maintaining strict principles of medical building international standards. Horizontal and vertical circulation become the key constraints that guide the whole design process. We intend to design a building that is functioning as efficiently as possible. The building facade is carefully crafted to provide opening in floors that need some view and solid closure in floors with spesific program that must be completely enclosed.
The ground floor is dedicated for emergency room alongside its complete supporting facilities because it is the most accessible floor for emergency services. The main reception therefore, is alocated in the first floor with stairs that flows from the pedestrian entrance into the center of the building with two main entrances from the front and side, and equipped by accessible elevators. This open-plan space is intended to enhance visual and physical connectivity between the building and the surrounding landscape. The wood deck materials and the interior landscape are designed to give a sense of hospitality to break the negative image of a hospital.

This is a competition to design a landmark in the center of Banjarmasin city that was the location of the old governor office building. This venue is intended to become a new landmark to attract more tourists to the city. There is an old governor office already in the site which will be preserved as a heritage building. The site is near the Martapura river which has great potential to be integrated with the design, but a busy street separates the site with the river. In the larger context of Banjarmasin, the city lacks of attractive tourism venue, so it is a great potential to design something stunning for the city which will make the citizen proud of their hometown.
Monokroma proposes a monumental design concept to construct a sleek tower rising from the water into the sky 80 meters high from the ground. The form symbolize the five historic rivers that formed this city in the begining. We design a viewing platform in the sky so the people will be able to see the city edges as the city grows. This venue will integrate the old governor office as a museum, an amphitheater for cultural performance, a culinary center and probably the biggest green park in the city. It will be an amazing public space for the people of Banjarmasin.

This is a competition to design an authentic local restaurant which represents the cultural heritage of the site. The competition organizer works together with Bekraf (Badan Ekonomi Kreatif), the government agency for creative economy, to enhance the promotion of the local culinary heritage to boost tourism in the specific sites.
Everywhere the guests turn, they will see the stunning beach, or the open sea.
Monokroma choose Mandalika for its iconic vernacular architecture heritage ‘bale lumbung’ which could give a strong spirit of place ambience to the restaurant. The platform form could also potentially be placed on the offshore, so the guests will dine right above the sea at the famous Aan Bay in Mandalika. The iconic restaurant will be an instant focal point right at the center of the bay and the scenery from the restaurant will be 360 degrees.
With all the menu come from local recipes and produces, this restaurant will indulge the guests with an authentic experience of Lombok island as they dine in the most beautiful bay in Mandalika.
We multiply the platform by making a split level, giving it playful ambience and freeing the view to every direction. We use local wood and bamboo material for the structure and traditional woven fabric for the decorative parts.

240 This is a competition to design an authentic local restaurant which represents the cultural heritage of the site. The competition organizer works together with Bekraf (Badan Ekonomi Kreatif), the government agency for creative economy, to enhance the promotion of the local culinary heritage to boost tourism in the specific sites. Monokroma also choose Tanjung Kelayang for its unique architectural and culinary heritage. The main space in the Belitung Platform House is used as the place to do all the family activities such as family gathering event. The main hall has no wall so the residents can use the space for various activities. In this restaurant, the main hall is translated into dining room by using ‘lesehan’. This is a combination of the dining tradition in belitung, namely ‘bedulang’, which is done together by sitting on the floor and the modern way of dining with table and chair. The space under the dining room
platform is used as an extension of the dining room that can spill over to the beach. ‘Loss’ is the space between the main room and the kitchen in traditional Belitung House. In this restaurant, ‘loss’ is a transitional area through which the visitors enter the dining area, while the area below the loss is used as a service area consisting of storage room, toilets and sink. The kitchen in this restaurant is designed with the concept of traditional Belitung coffee shop which is located in the front of the kitchen area. So, the front of the restaurant is also used as a place to make coffee as well as an attraction point for the visitors.
