{RE} Generative Amphitheater

Task: to Regenerate the area using my knowledge of sustainable devices, design and related programmatic responses. The resulting design comprised of rainwater collection systems, solar shading and energy (pv) systems, and a form-work that would not only be reactive to the acoustics of the users on the site, but also increase visibility of the at area to inuence use. (Below)Existing site. An on campus outdoor amphitheater.

Formal and Programmatic responses were developed using knowledge of the needs of both the campus and the concept of the area of study. The form was created to enhance shading, PV and auditory response. The programmatic decisions were developed with response to student activity in the area, as well as the existing program of the space. The purpose was to enhance what was there, regenerating the area.

M A RTA Wi n d | Tra i n Tunnel

Task: to Redesign a MARTA station in downtown Atlanta, I used this assignment to study how wind could be used to revitalize the underground conditions of the North Avenue train station. Using the existing wind patterns, I was able to create a form that pulled the wind from the ground oor to the platform.

13

Developing the form of this station redesign consisted of a series of wind analysis using Flow Design by Autodesk and existing knowledge of wind tunneling eects that are created by the surrounding buildings in the area. The ďŹ nal product was a design that would capture the wind creating a better

In the end I was able to create a serenity fountain that at plates interacted with materials. First acrylic (the main container), then wood + steel, then wood + copper, and again. The change of the materials and the use of a pump to create a cycle through which the water had to continue allowed for many dierent water and lighting patterns to be created over time .

Wa t e r + M a t e r i a l + Shadow

Task: to Create a shadow box using concrete, and other materials of choice. Growing an understanding of how artists and architects use materials to control the environment they wish to create, I developed this Shadow Box to study how water can cohere a variety of materials. On the ground floor Retail can be used by the residents above as shops in which they can grow businesses, there is opportunity for pop-up shops, local retailers and brands to come together in a central space. With the proximity of the retail to the housing above residents will not have to go far to access everything they need in their daily lives. Each level above this includes apartment units as well as CONNECTion rooms in which residents can cultivate stimulating environments that foster collaboration and growth. As the inhabitants of Nostrand.Connect make their way to the roof, they will experience these rooms all the way up until they reach our shared outdoor spaces that are meant to encourage a tempering of pace, a connection to nature which offers room for bonding, reflection, and solidarity.
