4 Swanky Suites Flash back to 1989, when Las Vegas was still more of a cowboy town, at least until Steve Wynn came along and opened the glitzy Mirage. That turning point in history not only introduced the world to tiger-taming magicians and aquariums in the lobby but high-end luxury suites. After, nearly every resort in Vegas responded with their own dream homes away from home, bringing accommodations fit for a president, former digs that once appeared on “The Real World,” fantasy suites beyond your expectations and more. Here, a look at four of the swankiest suites found in Las Vegas, covering the latest and greatest to the reliable standbys. THE “REAL WORLD” SUITE, HARD ROCK HOTEL Party like a rock star in this 4,200-square-foot penthouse that appeared on the 25th season of the MTV show in 2011. Make like the reality stars and sleep in one of three bedrooms, or hang out in the six-person mosaic hot tub with a view of the Las Vegas Strip. Other amenities include a full kitchen and dining room for 12 and a lounge complete with a fully stocked bar, pool table and flat panel TVs. Don’t forget the single-lane automated bowling alley.
JACKIE GAUGHAN SUITE, EL CORTEZ Stay in a suite straight out of the 1980s that used to be the home of the hotel magnate. The 2,700-square-foot suite features a romper room with vintage records and overized velvet and shag pillows scattered about the space. PRESIDENTIAL SUITE, CAESARS PALACE Make like former President Barack Obama and head to this 22,000-square-foot suite fit for a head of state with six bedrooms and eight
bathrooms. You could get lost in the two kitchens and two patios that have hosted the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Cher and Hollywood power couple Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas.
The Hardwood Suite at the Palms
HARDWOOD SUITE, PALMS Yes, a hardwood basketball court complete with a locker room and NBA-sized fold-out beds come with this 10,000-square-foot suite. The lounge includes a dance floor and guests can shoot pool if they’re not in the mood for hoops. 9

5 EXTRAVAGANT WAYS TO SEE SHOWS
Over-The Top Dining
Just as Las Vegas lets you indulge in chichi accomodations and unheard of shopping experiences, the city offers up some of the most insane dining opportunities in the world. Here’s a look at the crème de la crème. COSTA DI MARE AT WYNN LAS VEGAS Three shipments of 220 pounds of fish fly in from Italy weekly at this Mediterranean restaurant with extravagant cabanas for privacy on the lagoon. While you might be tempted by intriguing dishes such as Cicala di Mare, a prehistoric lobster served grilled whole over charcoal or prepared over pasta with tomato and garlic, you can never go wrong with hardto-get langoustines, dubbed “the best in the world.”
Costa di Mare
É BY JOSÉ ANDRÉS AT THE COSMOPOLITAN Truth be told, Spanish chef José Andrés has four restaurants in Las Vegas, and one of them is stashed away inside Jaleo. Six nights a week, a lucky eight guests get to experience this 20-plus course tasting menu at one of two seatings. Diners sit at the bar inside this room draped in dramatic reds and a bookshelf with a ladder leading to nowhere to experience dishes such as Cava Sangria, an edible sphere cocktail filled with white sangria made from Cava, gin and fruit as well as an empanada made with a pillowy cotton candy shell, filled with foie gras and corn nuts. One dish is even served on plaster replicas of Andrés’
hands. Make reservations at least 90 days in advance. CARNEVINO AT THE PALAZZO You’ll only discover whether the dry-aged Riserva steak is on the menu after you’re seated, but for those willing to try something a little different, this is a must-order, served by the ounce. Once a super secret menu item at Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s Italian chophouse, the steak aged for 180 to 240 days tastes like bleu cheese, foie gras and beef. TWIST BY PIERRE GAGNAIRE AT MANDARIN ORIENTAL French cuisine never looked as pretty as it does on the plate at Pierre Gagnaire’s only restaurant in the United States. You might not recognize what the scallop carpaccio with Campari or mushroom broth zézette are, but once tasted, you will never forget. PRIME AT BELLAGIO If Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s dry-aged, bone-in rib eye steak or A5 Japanese Wagyu don’t impress, just sit back and take in the Tiffany blue decor here set off with three commissioned paintings by Carlo Maria Mariani, George Deem and

my whole life, but it had never actually hit me that it might be amazing and remarkable and people might love it if I had puppets do impressions. Watching Danny Gans inspired me to make my entire act about puppets doing impressions. That was in 2005. What are your favorite things to see and do in Las Vegas? The two shows that I think everybody should see are Carrot Top and Mac King. Those are my two favorite comedy shows; they’re so unbelievably
OUT+ABOUT
Terry Fator
Fator with Winston
Superstar Ventriloquist and Las Vegas Strip Headliner
Have you been interested in performing since childhood? Oh yeah, from as far back as I can remember. One of my very first memories is singing a song in front of a bunch of people and having them cheer—I really liked that feeling! Once you started doing ventriloquism, what was the first impression you did? Michael Jackson. I used to love watching Michael Jackson with the Jackson 5 on different variety shows; one of the first songs I ever did with a puppet was "ABC." I had a lion puppet and I named it Jackal Mikeson. It wasn’t a jackal, but to a 10-yearold, that was pretty clever. (Laughs)
Which impression in your current repertoire is the hardest? Well, I do Taylor Swift now, and that’s pretty hard. (Laughs) Bruno Mars is pretty hard too.
Fator with Walter T. Airdale
Which character in your show has been with you the longest? Walter T. Airdale, he’s the country singer—he yodels and sings country music. By the time I turned 18, my mom could see that I wanted to be a professional entertainer, so she bought me my first professional puppet— that’s Walter, he’s still in my act.
12 W H E R E L A S V E G A S I F E B R UA R Y 20 17
When was the first time you came to visit Las Vegas? I must have been 21 or 22. I had wanted to headline in Vegas since I was 14 or 15 years old, because to me, it meant you were a top entertainer. Growing up watching TV in the ‘70s, I always saw marquees that said Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley, in Las Vegas. Were there any entertainers here who inspired you? Danny Gans. I had been doing impressions and ventriloquism
entertaining. Boyz II Men plays my theater on the weekends and I’ve got to say, that is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen— incredible. There’s beautiful harmonies, comedy—it’s just an amazing show. I love to eat, and T-bones at Red Rock Casino is just one of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. Of course, Sinatra at Wynn is great too. And my favorite place to eat at the Mirage (I probably eat there about three to four times a month) is Stack. It’s just one of the best steakhouses you’re ever going to find. What's your favorite guilty indulgence? In 2014, I’d rewritten the show so many times, and I was just exhausted, so I took six months and sat in my room all day playing video games. Discover more at

Terry Fator became a household name in 2007 as the winner of “America’s Got Talent” for his unique blend of ventriloquism, singing, comedy and celebrity impressions. Airdale, Berry Fabulous with his hip-hop songs and newcomer Fernando V. Fransisco, the Latin heartthrob.

Art Lover
Add some romance to your life during a trip to Las Vegas. (1) Discover star-crossed lovers galore during “Baz—Star Crossed Love” playing at The Venetian. The artfully produced show intertwines director Baz Luhrmann’s three romance films—“Romeo + Juliet,” “Moulin Rouge” and “The Great Gatsby”—with the performers scampering through the audience in this immersive experience. (2) The Beatles always said that “all you need is love.” Cirque du Soleil makes sure that love is all around in this tribute to the Fab Four at the Mirage with“The Beatles LOVE.” (3) When Paris isn’t in the cards, a trip to the Eiffel Tower Experience is. This half-size replica of the original towers 46 stories over the Strip with 360-degree views of the city at Paris Las Vegas.
Sophisticated takes on Las Vegas await. (1) When champagne and caviar are calling your name, head to Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace for the Michelin-starred chef’s takes on foie gras, artichoke and black truffle soup and Krug champagne. (2) High rollers only can escape to the Paiza Club, The Venetian’s swanky restaurant on the 24th floor of the resort meant for the biggest of whales. Legend has it that guests here can order just about whatever they want and place $1 million bets 24 hours a day. (3) High rollers at The Mansion inside the MGM Grand find a private hotel within a hotel decked out as an 18th century Tuscan villa. Guests staying here arrive via limo to their own entrance to the space, and can even order their own private menu or spa treatments.
Keep your eyes open for some of the most unexpected pieces of artwork found all over the Las Vegas Strip. (1) Just outside Vdara, find Nancy Rubins’ “Big Edge,” a spectacular assortment of salvaged rowboats, canoes and more. The colorful tribute practically blooms before guests as they arrive at the resort. (2) Wander in front of Mandarin Oriental to find a large-scale typewriter eraser sculpture by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, another example of Oldenburg’s love of large-scale sculptures of everyday objects. (3) The 40-foot-tall “Bliss Dance” from Marco Cochrane once graced the desert party at Burning Man in 2010. Now the dancing woman illuminated with 3,000 colored LED lights has a permanent home at The Park, where she lights up the night.
