MARCH 24:

Panic! At the Disco

While many musicians end up in Las Vegas at some point in their careers, few get their start here. The exception, Panic! At The Disco, who bring their Death of a Bachelor Tour back to their hometown. The group even started work on their second album “Pretty. Odd.” at nearby Mount Charleston and recorded the album at the Studio at the Palms. Songs such as “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” “The Ballad of Mona Lisa,” “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and “Death of a Bachelor” surely make an appearance on this tour. Crunch Time

Nothing better before, during or after a great sporting event than equally good tavern fare. Why choose when you can do both? March brings plenty of excuses—including NASCAR’s Kobalt 400, March Madness and Big League Weekend—to indulge in your favorite pub food.

MUST-EAT PUB FARE

Sandwiches, burgers and great appetizers big enough to be a meal on their own are some of the calling cards of a good pub. Bonus points if that restaurant has the match on, games of its own and some good fries and shakes to boot. Here, a look at some of the terrific burger taverns and gastropubs found in Las Vegas.

B&B BURGER & BEER Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich don’t mess around when it comes to burgers. Their more casual B&B Burger & Beer at the front of the Venetian features the classic Drive-Thru burger all the way to the Morning After to kill any hangover with a sunny side up egg on top. Try the bourbon cherry shake (spiked, of course) and add smashed fried potatoes on the side. Grand Canal Shoppes, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd S.; 702.414.2220

CULINARY DROPOUT Soft pretzels with provolone fondue, house potato chips with onion dip and cheddar and potato pierogies, and that’s just to start at Culinary Dropout. A raw bar, some darn good fried chicken, a great weekend brunch and beer in a paper bag are just some of the calling cards at this gem with a patio. Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road; 702.522.8100

2

DOUBLE BARREL ROADHOUSE Saddle up and head to this roadhouse for a slab of barbecue smoked St. Louis ribs, fried chicken or pig candy. Double Barrel Roadhouse even has beef brisket, hot links and pulled pork with a spicy mustard barbecue sauce. Find live music later in the evening. Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; 702.222.7735

LAGASSE’S STADIUM Bam! Emeril Lagasse kicks it up a notch with his Creole take on bar food at Lagasse’s Stadium. Sports fans will appreciate the 100-plus televisions

and sports book built into the comfortable room with stadium seating. Order Emeril’s crab cake with Creole oil or barbecue shrimp to start and then move on to an oyster or shrimp po’boy or a lobster grilled cheese while cheering on your favorite team and placing a bet. Palazzo, 3325 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; 702.607.2665 GORDON RAMSAY PUB & GRILL The host of “Hell’s Kitchen” has his name on the front door of this slice of Great Britain. Head to Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill for some of his classics such as Yorkshire ale batter fish and chips; bangers and mash (that’s sausages and mashed potatoes to Americans); beef-braised short ribs; and butter chicken curry. The beer selection here includes Ramsay favorite Innis & Gunn. Just look for the iconic red telephone booths, Carnaby Street colors on the floor and a wall of kegs. Caesars Palace, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; 702.731.7410

5

BOBBY’S BURGER PALACE Celebrity chef Bobby Flay has a secret ingredient in every one of his burgers— potato chips. That alone gives each a little crunch and some added salt at his burger mecca Bobby’s Burger Palace. The basic Crunchburger comes with American cheese and chips on top, but other versions from Philly, New Mexico and Los Angeles have more razzle dazzle ingredients. This location even has

spiked milkshakes in renditions such as mocha Kahlua vodka and vanilla caramel bourbon. Mandarin Oriental, 3750 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; 702.598.0191 GUY FIERI’S VEGAS KITCHEN & BAR As Food Network star Guy Fieri would say, “This is the bomb.” Who doesn’t want to try trash can brisket nachos, Fireball whiskey wings or the Mayor of Flavortown burger? Fieri dishes out his menu from early in the morning until late at night, plus his shots are on tap. The Linq, 3535 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; 702.794.3139

Challenging Course

Designed by architect Bert Stamps in 1961, the Las Vegas National Golf Course is one of the most historic in town; in addition to hosting numerous LPGA and PGA events, it was the site where Tiger Woods carded a 1-under par 70 (his highest of the tournament) on the way to capturing his first PGA Tour victory in 1996. Palm, pine, and olive trees protect the well-bunkered greens and lush fairways. This exquisite championship golf course is located only two miles from the Strip and the Las Vegas Convention Center. It’s a great spot for families—junior golf is free with a paying adult, contact the golf shop for details. Located at 1911 E. Desert Inn Rd. 702.734.1796

The picturesque paradise that is Mountain Falls Golf Club offers holes that are challenging for seasoned pros, as well as novice golfers. Las Vegas Your Way

Adrenaline Junkie

Late-Night

Spring Break

Nothing quite like driving fast in a hot car. At (1) Exotics Racing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, that means racing school is open daily with dream rides such as a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche or Audi. A professional driver can even zip you around in a Corvette Z06. Hit the longest and fastest track in Las Vegas at (2) Speed Vegas. Let a driver take you along for two laps of drifting, where the back end of the car kicks out. Or make it a 600-horsepower NASCAR-style stock car that reaches speeds up to 137 miles per hour. (3) Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway lets you get behind the wheel and drive like a racing king. Do 18 laps with some tips from the pros to make you a better driver.

It’s 3 a.m., you just finished hitting the clubs and you need a late-night snack. Where to turn? (1) Hexx Kitchen & Bar at Paris features fries smothered with pulled pork, cheese curds and barbecue gravy or spicy jambalaya from midnight to 7 a.m. on the late-night menu. If breakfast in the middle of the night is more your style, (2) Pantry at the Mirage delivers Pop’s buttermilk pancakes and chicken and waffles round the clock. (3) Mr. Lucky’s at the Hard Rock Hotel keeps the party going when you have those late-night cravings. Try the King pancakes with 14 banana and bacon pancakes topped with Nutella, whipped cream and powdered sugar for a late-night snack worthy of Elvis.

A week away from classes means college kids need to figure out something to do with their time. Start at (1) Beer Park , the Paris bar and eatery with a 10,000-squarefoot deck, more than 100 beers on tap and concession-style snacks served from a roving cart. Dig into a pulled chicken sandwich or a brat at (2) Beerhaus at The Park with its roster of craft beers. The red velvet whoopie pie is a great way to cap off a meal. No trip is complete without a stop at Food Network star (3) Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar at The Linq. Try one of eight shots delivered from an ice dispenser and then wolf down Trash Can brisket nachos or a bacon mac-n-cheese burger before hitting the clubs.
