The Fray
Literally an overnight success, Denver-based rock band The Fray saw double-platinum success after its debut single, "How to Save a Life," was heard on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." On its fourth album, "Helios" the band worked with Stuart Price, who's produced albums for Madonna and The Killers, to find a more unique sound using electronic instruments, drum samples and enormous backing vocals; they also opened up their songwriting process to those outside their camp. The result is one that's had everyone from Ryan Seacrest to Jimmy Kimmel calling. The Foundry at SLS Las Vegas, 702.761.7617

Sights to Marvel At Las Vegas is home to more magicians per capita than anywhere else in the world. They’re also like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Our resident shock-ster, Criss Angel, recently updated his show to include the most provocative in his stable; the new show now focuses on the MINDFREAK-style illusions he’s known for. Luxor, 702.262.4400. And longtime Vegas performers and all-around likeable guys Penn & Teller are still pulling in record crowds at the Rio, 702.777.2782, thanks to the inyour-face magic that’s heavy on the black comedy. It’s no coincidence these magicians are all television stars.

MUSIC
The World’s Hottest Residencies
Must-See Musicians Pop, rock, R&B: Las Vegas music residencies fit all genres, but any fan of great music (and a great time) will love these shows. Put them on your short list. • Elton John’s Million Dollar Piano at the Colosseum at Caesars can be summed up in one word: exhilarating. Sir Elton not only streams colorful tableaus across the piano’s exterior (hence the show’s name), but makes the best use of the venue’s larger-than-life screen behind the stage. It’s like you’re riding the projected roller coaster in “Saturday” and are watching the sun rise in “Circle of Life.” It’s everything a Las Vegas show should be, and, well, it’s Elton. Oct. 12, 14-15, 19, 21-22, 26, 28-30 , 7:30 pm. Caesars Palace, 866.320.9763

THE GUIDE
Dining
Cuisine of Your Dreams
Masters of Fun
All hail the newest dining concept from Shawn McClain! Libertine Social puts an emphasis on social dining—imagine you are in the middle of a house party, but with the most flavorful and imaginative New American cuisine you’ve ever tried. Among the bold menu items found here are the Parmesan churros (above), duck pastrami, harissa-grilled mussels and stuffed olives. Sample one, and move along to the next. And be sure to leave plenty of room for the creative cocktails dreamed up by master mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim. There are plenty of rooms to explore, and the murals from Puerto Rican artist Alexis Diaz add intrigue and encourage conversation. Mandalay Bay, 877.632.7800
It’s all about the presentation, and Benihana’s newest location on the Las Vegas Strip doesn’t disappoint. Watch your meal come to life as talented chefs chop, flip and dice the ingredients with aplomb—we guarantee you’ll leave with a smile on your face. For steak lovers, the Chateaubriand is a must. Your opportunities for amusement never end at the Golden Nugget, a stylish downtown casino that’s home to impersonator Gordie Brown, a Friday-night concert series, Gold Diggers nightclub and a gorgeous pool with a water chute that takes you through the middle of a shark tank (don’t worry, it’s glass enclosed). That’s just for starters, though; the stable of restaurants include Vic & Anthony’s steakhouse, Chart House, home to the freshest catches of the day, Red Sushi and many more. The hotel-casino sits in the center of the Fremont Street Experience, where shows take place above you nightly between dusk and midnight. It’s a downtown landmark and a must-visit property. 702.385.7111

Las Vegas Your Way
Guys' Trips
Girls' Trips
First Timers
Whether or not your weekend resembles "The Hangover," you'll want to catch these don't-miss experiences. Ease your way into the Strip's offerings and kick back at MGM Grand's (1) Whiskey Down, where you can get your first try of the table games while downing premium whiskey. You might not think it could get any better, but that would mean you've never watched football at (2) Sapphire, where hundreds of Vegas' hottest exotic dancers get all dolled up in football attire— do you watch the pole dance or the game? Finally, make your evening complete with the ladies of (3) Fantasy; their show will play on your deepest desires and is choreographed by the greatest in the business. The cast was named “Best Showgirls” in the 2015 Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” poll.
A little relaxation, a little stimulation—Vegas is a great playground for the ladies! Our spas rank among the world's best; our favorite for a spa-cation is (1) Spa Costa Del Sur at the South Point, with its fabulous amenities and treatments unlike any other in town. Spice up the night with the (2) Thunder From Down Under; these Australians with rock-hard abs will titillate you for a good two hours of naughty fun. And the glorious (3) Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis at Caesars Palace is exactly what the name implies, a perfectly manicured environment befitting royalty with eight different pools that cater to sunworshippers and swimmers alike. Best of all, you don't have to be a hotel guest to gain entry; it's available to non-guests for $20 and worth every penny.
Undertaking your first trip to Vegas? Welcome! Here are the things you absolutely must do while you're here. Get grand views of the Strip on the world's highest observation wheel, the (1) High Roller at The Linq Promenade. You can even do yoga on the High Roller, sample Ethel M Chocolates' treats or celebrate happy hour here. One of the most recognizable iconic attractions in Las Vegas, the (2) Bellagio Fountains snake delicately to current and classic music. More than 1,200 dancing fountains reach up to heights of 460 feet and out to a span of 1,000 feet. Vegas has become a foodie town, but where to start? Tour the culinary landscape with (3) Lip Smacking Foodie Tours; lunch and dinner excursions are available, and you'll be able to try up to five of Las Vegas' best restaurants.
