I Love Mosaic critical website information copied and we needed access to the original servers to get it. Trying to get that information was difficult and the drama continued until 9:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve when Marlyn and two of her IT associates (Darren and Garth) finally got everything copied, including my database for my ezine/newsletters. Yes, I was one lucky rabbit! Due to all of this, as some of you may have noticed, my website was down for quite a while and I couldn’t send out my ezine/newsletter during that time. But, with Marlyn and Darren’s genius, my website has been redesigned and rebuilt, better than ever, and I can’t thank both of them enough for all their help and hard work. Now I’m very excited for you to see it. The address is the same but it looks so beautiful now… www.ilovemosaicmagazine.com

by Connie Brisson I’m a rabbit. We’re astrologically lucky. It’s in our astrological genes. ☺ Usually it’s even more lucky to be the animal of the year and (as luck would have it) we are just entering the Year of the Rabbit. So when I read Skye’s article about the Chinese New Year, it was with great anticipation. I was sure she would say that the rabbit was going to have an amazingly fertile, abundant, joyous, creative, fluid and calm year. Then I read it… “The six weeks before the new year (December 22, 2010 - February 2, 2011) represents a mini oracle for the year ahead. Notice what occurs in your own life and the world as a whole during this time.” What? It didn’t take me long to reflect back and realize this rabbit is in for an exciting year… and that luck comes in different ways. When my old web-site designer decided to retire late last year, I went on a search to find a new web-site designer whose work I really loved and, after looking at about 100 websites, I came across www.gaslampvillage.com. It only took me a few minutes talking to the owner/operator, Marlyn Quast-Frank, to know I’d found the new web-site designer I was looking for. Although I’m not web-errific, I decided I would change over my domains and hosting company myself and then have Marlyn create a new dynamic web-site for me. We also needed to copy and transfer everything from my old webdesigner’s world to my new one by New Year’s Eve at midnight when the old servers were going down.

One casualty in the transfer was that I lost all the wonderful comments I had from you about what you love about Mosaic. However, I still would love to hear from you - just email me directly at mosaicmagazine@shaw.ca and I’ll include some of your latest comments on my new Testimonial & Comments page. I’ve also decided to make a few other changes so this rabbit’s life can be a little calmer this year. The first is that the Mosaic Delicious Book Club Dinner is going to change from every month to being held quarterly - about one month after the magazine is published (February, May, August and November). This will still provide all of us the opportunity to get together regularly (to enjoy old friends and meet new people) and talk about anything and everything, including an interesting book. The other change is that I’ll be sending out my online ezine/newsletter only once a month, at the beginning of the month. Each ezine will include some interesting tid-bits, tips and information on astrology, feng shui cures, crystals, healing herbs and more. I’ll tweak it until it feels just right and becomes something that puts a smile on your face when you see it in your inbox each month. If you aren’t already receiving my ezine/newletter via email, go to www.ilovemosaicmagazine.com and sign up in the top right hand corner. We’ve got another great issue for you and a feature interview with Lee Carroll who is coming to Edmonton on April 10. Let’s read his latest book, Kryon Book 12 - The 12 Layers of DNA (Platinum Publishing House, 2010) for our next book club dinner and meet on March 2 at Doan’s Restaurant, 10130 - 107 Street, 780-424-3034. Please email me by March 1 at mosaicmagazine@shaw.ca if you plan to come so the restaurant has enough space for us. Hope to see you there!

Everything was going well until just two days before January 31st when we (luckily) found out that we didn’t have all my

Skye’s View

Welcome the Chinese Year of the Rabbit by Skye MacLachlan Feng Shui Consultant

keep you healthy this year. Pay greater attention to any elderly family member’s health.

The Chinese New Year begins on February 3 and we welcome the Metal Rabbit.

Monkey: The Monkey can get easily agitated this year and this will have an impact on the digestion. Stay calm and refrain from pushing yourself too hard at work. You may attract some minor illnesses and if you take time to recuperate, you’ll feel stronger than ever once the illness passes.

Generally speaking, career and finances will progress positively for most of us, though at a gradual pace. The conflicting energy will have a more negative impact upon our relationships and our health. Take actions within yourself and your own life to promote peaceful energy. If you meditate regularly, you will find this an invaluable tool to maintain your inner balance this year. The six weeks before the new year (December 22, 2010 - February 2, 2011) represents a mini oracle for the year ahead. Notice what occurs in your own life and the world as a whole during this time. Here’s a look at the areas of health that will impact each animal this year. With advance notice we can each take actions to strengthen these vulnerable areas and experience a happy and healthy year. Rabbit / Hare: Relaxation, healthy exercise and lots of sleep are essential for you this year. The Rabbit is impacted by the accident star so take extra care when driving. Dragon: The Dragon’s health is very sensitive this year. You must slow down and avoid stressful situations. You are prone to greater mental stress which in turn may have a negative impact on your digestion. Take extra care when driving.

Rooster: Common complaints will be painful joints and rheumatism. As well, stress in your life could lead to insomnia and stomach problems. Get plenty of rest and maintain a positive attitude. Also, be careful when you’re driving.

detail of Unseen Beauty © Maria Pace-Wynters

Normally, the Rabbit year ushers in peace and calm after we have experienced the intensity of the Tiger year. But unfortunately, due to the conflicting elements, disharmony will prevail this year so eliminate any risk taking behaviour. “Play it safe” would be a useful motto for the year ahead.

Dog: Take care of the small things this year. Find small ways to make healthy changes in your life. Also take care when driving or travelling. Pig: Avoid unhealthy eating habits this year. Avoid stress brought on by over work. You are most prone to illness when your body is fatigued. Rat: Stress and emotional ups and downs could impact your health. Don’t over extend yourself and take time to eat healthy. Ox: The Ox is impacted by the accident star this year. Avoid all risky behaviours and be extra attentive when driving.

Tiger: The Tiger has the illness star this year. You and your family members may fall sick for no apparent reason. Maintain healthy practices with your eating, sleep and exercise to strengthen your immune system. May you be blessed with peace and good health in the Year of the Rabbit. Skye has specialized in Feng Shui for the home and business for over 30 years. She teaches Feng Shui, Tarot and Dreamwork at the Northern Star College of Mystical Studies in Edmonton.

Snake: The Snake has many stressful demands this year that could impact health. Be especially careful to stay attentive and focused when driving - don’t multitask! Avoid risky behaviours. Expectant mothers should take extra care to avoid miscarriage. Horse: Burnout is a risk this year; relax and avoid excessive work. Explore a new hobby. Take time to renew yourself or you’ll weaken your immune system and be prone to catch every bug that goes around. Sheep / Goat: The Goat has an unlucky health star this year. You’re prone to many minor illnesses and accidents. Get lots of sleep, eat healthy and exercise; this will go a long way to

Is ‘the pill’ making you sick? by Tammie Quick DMH, DHHP Peek-a-boo © Oksana Zhelisko — www.zheliskoart.com

Gentlemen, please don’t disregard this article just because of the title. I’m talking to you too! If you are drinking tap water, or water that hasn’t been meticulously cleaned, then you are consuming synthetic female hormones. How is this possible? Well, consider the number of women who are taking the birth control pill. In fact I challenge you to find a woman who hasn’t ever taken ‘the pill’. It’s practically a rite of passage for young women in Western civilization. And if that number isn’t staggering enough, consider how many female ‘baby boomers’ have been diagnosed with Hormone Deficiency Disease (menopause) and told the only treatment is Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). I’ll bet you’ve never stopped to ask yourself where those hormones go, when they’ve been excreted through the urine of these women and into the public water supply. Yes, the water is treated, but there is no filter for these hormones. Additionally, if you’ve ever eaten meat that isn’t 100% certified organic, then you’ve been further exposed, as hormones are routinely given to all livestock in order to create larger breasts and more flesh for us to eat. Let’s face it, we’re all on ‘the pill’. Homeopath, Melissa Assilem, has done extensive research into the effects of synthetic hormones in women. And in my Heilkunst practice I see patients of both sexes who need to be treated for ill health that has been caused by synthetic hormones. Women will report problems around their monthly cycles yet think it’s just a normal part of being a female. Older gals report what we’ve all come to believe are classic menopausal symptoms, never realizing that nature didn’t intend for women to suffer through these natural stages of their lives. Neither did she intend for men to develop ‘man boobs’ or prostate tumors that are largely estrogenic! There are some who speculate that ‘the pill’ was not a tool for the sexual liberation of women as much as it was for men. According to Assilem, (Women Ripening Through The Menopause, WHN Books, 1996) to suppress a woman’s natural rhythms is “the most modern and scientific way to castrate women yet invented.” Wikipedia tells us that castrate means: “to deprive of strength or vigour.” Indeed, when a woman comes to my clinic reporting problems with her weight, yeast infections, uncontrollable cravings, irritability and/or depression, low libido, problems with her period or menopause (or both!), acne, mood swings and any kind of history of abuse, I always consider a hormone imbalance due to synthetic hormones. And once again I dare the reader to find a woman who doesn’t suffer from one or most of these symptoms! How many can name three women who are full of ‘strength and vigour’? ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

Many physicians assume that oestrogen is dominant for these women, and recommend progesterone applications. But this does not ‘cure’ the underlying problem, which is hormonal imbalance due to synthetic hormones! A man whose been adversely affected by synthetic hormones may show signs in the sexual arena. Certainly a male in his 40’s or 50’s shouldn’t expect to have the sexual performance that he did in his 20’s. But as cute as those ‘ED’ commercials may be, erectile dysfunction is anything but cute. Once again the pharmaceutical industry has come to the rescue with such drugs as Viagra which is not a cure (and not without risks!) But how about looking at the underlying reasons for the problem… like the over feminization of our males by environmental contaminants? If it’s happening to frogs, it’s happening to our husbands, sons, brothers, uncles, nephews and fathers. Living and loving the raw food lifestyle My passion is raw! I am a raw, vegan food teacher and have been sharing my knowledge and expertise in classes for eight years now. What is raw vegan? It is a chosen lifestyle of eating ‘living’ foods. All life that needs water and air to survive (animal, plant or human) needs to have enzymes. Enzymes are the kick-starters to the fountain of youth. We all produce enzymes and up to the age of about 30 we keep producing them. Many are stored in the body and then from 30 and onwards we start to use up the stored supplies. The stored supplies are needed when one eats any type of food that is cooked above 118° F. Why? Anything cooked above 118° F loses the enzyme content as they are destroyed at that heat. As you continue to use up the enzymes, you become what is called ‘enzyme depleted.’ What are the symptoms? Fatigue, memory loss, premature wrinkles, arthiritis, premature grey hair, age spots, poor vision and so much more. My passion has always been trying new foods. As I experimented with different lifestyles, I noticed how much better I felt as I let go of red meat and then meat altogether. I then let go of fish and became a vegetarian and not long after that I let go of all dairy and became vegan. Feeling proud of my great memory, my lack of being overweight and so many other benefits, I continued studying this lifestyle and became aware of raw foods - 100% living food made from nuts, vegetables, fruits and seeds.

fruit bars and all the foods that were alive and enzyme full. I ate and enjoyed; I shared and others enjoyed. First my energy shifted. Then my eyesight improved and I no longer needed glasses all day. Next my hair started to turn back to it original color. Age spots fell by the way side. My skin tightened, my cellulite left and best of all, my intuition heightened beyond belief. Everyone noticed and started asking me what I was doing differently. When I explained, they wanted more information, so I put all my knowledge and passion together to create a class: Learn to Make Raw Foods for Beginners. I do not claim to be a doctor, a nutritionist or any other medical person. I do not give medical advice at all; I only share the obvious and the results of many who have come to share my passion of raw foods.

Our bodies are designed to eat like monkeys. Think about what they eat. Need I say more? Are you looking for more energy, better memory, perfect weight, shiny skin, better eyesight, tighter skin? Are you looking for ‘The Fountain of Youth?’ If the answer is YES, then take a series of raw food classes and invite this into your life.

The classes are designed so that beginner students learn how to transition slowly and properly. They are arranged with a one month time span between each, so that the student can learn. There is also a website support system during the months. Please see the website www.vrfc.ca for a complete description and curriculum outline or contact VcToria at 780-481-7238. Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It is intended to supplement your current health program, not to replace the care of a licensed medical doctor.

As I played with my new passion for raw foods, I discovered health benefits I could never have imagined without experiencing it. I taught myself to make nut milks and grow sprouts of all different kinds. Then I taught myself how to make raw breads, raw cheeses, creams, pies, flour, raw chocolate bars, kale chips, quiche, dips, smoothies,

You can create miracles The Law of Attraction tells us that what you repeatedly and emotionally think about will become your reality. This doesn’t appear to make sense. But as you know, many things are not as they appear. After reading several books about the Law of Attraction and finding no explanation, I thought: “I know the Law of Attraction works… but how? There must be an answer out there somewhere.” So I embarked on five years of research to find it. The Law of Attraction is a quantum process. Quantum physics is the physics of the very small: atoms, energy fields and so on. Miracles are created out of the field of ‘universal energy.’ So what has the power to influence, or initiate, a quantum process? You do! Neurological research, most notably by Karl Pribram, Yale and Stanford Universities, has determined that the brain processes information holographically. A hologram is a quantum phenomenon. Each part of a hologram is three dimensional, integrated, whole. Although we consciously think in a linear fashion, awareness itself is not linear; it is three dimensional, complete, all at once. We are aware of everything around us, even if we can only focus on a few details at a time. There are many times each day when you decode input from five senses, recall applicable knowledge, anticipate outcomes, make calculations and decisions, coordinate muscular activity and much more, all simultaneously; all of these cognitive processes are coordinated by a holographic (quantum) higher faculty. It is this quantum faculty that directs the quantum processes that create miracles.

of possibilities… until observed. In other words, when you aren’t looking it’s a wave; when you are, it’s a particle! This is called Wave Particle Duality. Weirdness! (Even physicists working with this stuff every day admit it’s weird.) Physicists refer to this consolidation out of the realm of possibility as “the collapse of the wave function.” This is one of the key elements in the creation process. Physicists are having a hard time with the implications of their discoveries. They interpret this to mean that randomness is a fundamental part of nature. Not so. When we look at wave particle duality, we are not seeing randomness in nature. We are seeing our interaction with, our affect on, nature. Your thoughts, being a quantum force, have the power to affect the invisible world of energy patterns, atoms and subatomic particles underlying the threedimensional world around us. For more information see Chapter Ten in The Miracle Theory. Brave © Cathy McMillan — www.quirkyartcafe.ca

by Steve Hunt Author of The Miracle Theory

The Law of Attraction tells us, that what you repeatedly think about becomes your reality. As you think these thoughts, energy is added to the matrix of energy patterns, atoms and subatomic particles. When the energy of your repeated and energized (believed) thoughts reach critical mass, the object or event will ‘turn up’ in your life. You are a quantum Being (and a physical Being); you live in a quantum universe (and a physical universe). You are a magnificent Being with unimaginable power - you have the power to collapse energy into form! You can be, do or have, whatever you wish to be, do or have. Steve Hunt is an Edmonton writer and an authority on happiness. The article above is an excerpt from his book, The Miracle Theory, which explores happiness and the creative power of thought. www.miracletheory.com

Early in the development of quantum physics, physicists came to the startling realization that their expectations determined the outcome of their experiments! In 1922, Niels Bohr won the Nobel Prize for Physics for his theory called The Principle of Complementarity, commonly called the Observer Effect. The Observer Effect tells us that a subatomic entity will sometimes behave like a particle, a defined object in a particular place, sometimes like a wave, a vibrating continuum of energy spread out over time and space, and sometimes like both. A subatomic entity exists as a range ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

The paradigm of self-healing by Summer Bozohora Healing Coach In our journey through life as human beings we are always asking consciously or unconsciously, questions about life and death - its meaning and purpose. There’s nothing that calls life’s meaning and purpose into question as much as personal crisis or illness because they strike to the core of what we believe about life. Healing is a process that changes one’s view of life. However, because our cultural beliefs are so integral to our lives we seek a cure and relief while being able to retain our self-concept as it is. What happens is that many people ‘chase their tail’ or perpetuate what Dr. John E. Sarno, M.D., defines as the symptom imperative. The symptom imperative is the escalation of symptoms - new aches, pains or illness that are the body’s way of ‘upping the stakes’ each time an underlying message of your life experience has been missed.

raised to understand the mental concepts of good and bad. Our children’s movies are loaded with this concept of good and bad and of enemies. All the most popular movies (Narnia, Harry Potter) contain the idea of good and evil as if these concepts were separate entities. It is our judgment and perception of separation that creates the concepts of good and bad and of perceived enemies in the first place. What if we returned to the feeling in our hearts of fundamental goodness in the world? Would we stop fighting our perceived enemies? I invite you to rent the movie How to Train Your Dragon (DreamWorks Animation, 2010). The concept in this movie is the paradigm for self-healing! As you watch the movie, think of the dragon as any of your enemies. Reflect on what most irritates you - whatever you condemn, desire to ‘kill’ or get rid of in your life such as self-doubt, fear, guilt, financial problems or people with whom you have conflict. As you watch the movie replace: How to train your dragon with How to train your inner enemies. Your inner enemies are your dragons. As you learn to train them they become your greatest allies.

Early last year I presented an introductory self-healing collegium to my peers - theology students. Many of them were chaplains, ministers, nurses and counselors. One of them asked the most important question that arises when people consider what self-healing means: “What do you say to a person who is dying, whose peers, church and family members tell them that they aren’t praying hard enough?” She continued: “If they are told they can selfheal won’t they feel blamed for their experiences, disease or illness?”

A Tranquil Moment in a Tangled World © Kristine McGuinty

My answer was yes - often people do accept blame, however, blame is a concept that arises within a particular belief system. Blame, judgment and punishment co-exist within a belief system that sees God/Creator as outside of oneself and more powerful than oneself. This type of relationship to the source of life makes us feel helpless, insignificant and fearful. Thus, if a client accepts blame for their state of health, they inevitably believe that something about themselves is ‘wrong’ or ‘bad’. As a result one ‘prays harder’, begs and pleads because we believe ourselves powerless. It is ultimately this God view that needs healing. What if the Universe or God supports you? What if your energy is an integral part of its own? Why then are you experiencing your symptoms or life situation? Is there a deeper, richer meaning besides the idea that your symptom or some part of you is ‘wrong’ or undeserving? As infants we understand wholeness and the fundamental goodness in the world through feeling. Slowly we are

Health is commonly defined in our culture as the absence of symptoms or the elimination or control of disease. Healing moves us from attempting to cure or control through war and fear (conquering disease and fighting infection) to an understanding that individual health challenges are a result of this controlling and violent perspective on life. With a different life view, recovering health and wellbeing is not about blame, nor is it about fear or ‘fighting’ what we perceive to be outside of us. Healing is about ‘response-ability’ and claiming our power as a co-creator. When we view our life as a co-creator, our life becomes full of interesting adventures wrought with exciting experiences that inevitably guide us to life’s treasures: inner peace, personal power and a sense of the ultimate and undeniable interconnectedness of all things. Self-healing presumes the essential strength, wisdom and integrity of people. Many spiritual traditions of the world know this inner resilience and call it by many names: inner light, still-point, soul and Holy Spirit to name a few. If we believe our soul is innately radiant, when we sink into our quiet inner realm we are filled with peace. If, however, we believe creation to be flawed we fear our inner world will show us our brokenness, flaws and failures. Afraid of what we will find, we avoid it. This is one of our fears: if we stop and listen, we will hear emptiness. If we worry we are not good or whole inside, we will be reluctant to stop and rest, afraid we will find a lurking emptiness, a terrible aching void with nothing to fill it, as if it will destroy us like an insatiable dragon. If we are terrified of what we will find, we quickly fill all the blanks on our calendar with tasks, accomplishments and errands to fill the time and space. When we first glimpse this emptiness, it feels like an abyss that is in opposition to all that is visible and safe. We prefer to remain in the realm of form, with things we can see and touch and that we think are subject to our control. With my clients, if for but a moment, I see this fear and it excites me because I know what is around the corner. They have found the creative void of emptiness which is rich with fertile potential. When this happens, it is as if they enter a field of being - a universal creative process in which willing explorers are able to train their dragons regardless of how big, ferocious or deep their doubt, sorrow, fear or loss is. The creation that happens within our stillness does more than just allow one to bear life. Creation is unlimited, it is infinite in its possibilities and these same possibilities are intrinsic to each individual. What I see each day is nothing short of miraculous. It is ALL good. Network Care - the right kind of ‘medicine’ They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. In reality for some people news like the diagnosis of cancer will be the reason they fail to thrive, while for others it is a wake up call to the rest of their life. The same experience - but different responses and outcomes. Network Care shows you the tools to change the way you think to maximize your healing potential. The difference between illness and wellness depends in many ways on our relationships. Our most significant relationship in life is our relationship to our experience. Our ability to respond appropriately to the changes in our environment depends on the only three powers we have: awareness, choice and action. Awareness of what is needed for this moment, the ability to choose, to be resourceful and then to act at the right time. If we use these abilities effectively we can even grow from our experience. Consider for a moment how our health choices affect our abilities to deal effectively with our health challenges. The most common health services are based on restorative care. In this model a health problem is diagnosed and a treatment is administered. An effective treatment minimizes symptoms and allows a person to get on with their life as soon as possible. For most of us this is our first choice because it seems easiest.

or medication that comes from outside of you. The treatment usually reduces your awareness of the symptom and is deemed effective if it allows you to carry on the same lifestyle that produced the problem. Network Care proposes a new model of wellness called Reorganizational Healing (ROH). In Reorganizational Healing our focus is to connect with the symptom area, not wish it away or try to change it - the way out is through. In the beginning of this article I could have said: “One person’s poison is another person’s medicine.” There are many kinds of challenges in life but what if they are all really ‘medicine’? What if our challenges are simply resources for us to create whatever it is we need to turn our wounds into gifts?

With Network Care you can become aware of your challenges sooner, know where you are in your healing with that challenge and know how to be the most resourceful for making choices and actions that will support who you are as you heal. Robin offers Network Care at New Strategy Wellness Centre. It’s exciting how easy wellness can be. To get started today call 780 429-0023. Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It is intended to supplement your current health program, not to replace the care of a licensed medical doctor.

But easy is not always what’s best. In restorative care the focus is on wanting the problem (often a discomfort) to go away or wishing we could change our experience to a more comfortable one. It is assumed that something is wrong with the body, it has made some mistake. It also assumes that the wisdom to correct the problem is outside of you. The solution/healing is also based on a treatment

Healing your relationships with the angels Often people come for angel readings because they are having difficulty being at peace with certain relationships in their lives. The angels always transmit that all relationships are a gift and packaged sometimes in the way we least expect. The gifts or blessings in relationships have soul elements to them in every one of us. Here are some of the major soul elements: FORGIVENESS — By forgiving, we unbound our souls from one another and you then return to love for your own soul. You may not agree with the deed; however, the acceptance breeds peace in acknowledging that we all have things to learn in this lifetime. COMPASSION — Having the ability to put yourself in another’s shoes, allows us to be aware of why people make the choices they do. It is from this awareness that understanding and compassion can come to life. We are all here living life the best we can with what we know because when we know better, we may consciously live better. LOVE — By extending unconditional love to your soul family, you are also extending love to yourself. When you recognize that we all have been conditioned from a set of beliefs, great insight can come when love is your driving force. The love that you give is always returned back to you. Love is love and we are all born with love. FREEDOM — By accepting and loving yourself for who you uniquely are, you honor yourself and then the world honors you. With freedom, also comes trust. Freedom and trust are two soul components that work together to give you the capacity to trust in yourself and in others.

Second, and most importantly, is the life long relationship with yourself. Somewhere along our journeys, we may have fallen out of love with ourselves, perhaps because of life happenings. As humans we may have forgotten that our spirit is already perfect and pure regardless of the choices we make. The greatest gift is to change the way you feel about you so that you may completely love yourself. Then you truly can accept others as they are and the completion of yourself takes place. Your happiness and worth is dependent on you and only you. Harmony is then in your solitude. Lastly, in a regular week we have work, rest and play. However, most of us fall short in the play department. The play is our passions and gifts that go hand in hand with feeding and grooming ourselves. Ignite your passions and keep them alive! Schedule one hour a week in your calendar that makes your heart sing. Whether you are painting, sculpting, dancing or playing music, honor YOU. No matter how you look or sound, it’s how it makes you blissfully feel! See how the relationships in your life may change when you apply this awareness and fulfill your spirit. In angel readings after people have discovered their relationship gift, they will then ask: “How do I do this?” The response is to first change your perception about the relationship to see it in a soul element light. With this ability, great peace can be restored and the freedom is there to move forward. ‘Letting go’ often has a vibration effect that comes back to you whereas changing your perception with compassion goes right to the deep root of your soul.

Going further than skin deep by Nicola Biggs Herbalist, Aromatherapist As a young adult, I never thought my chosen work would lead to natural skincare, let alone opening an organic skincare spa. I loved the plant world but it was more of a medicinal interest. I seldom wore make-up and used the least amount of skin care I could. I was ‘au natural’; I thought less was better. In 1999, a whole new world opened for me where I saw how herbal waters, essential oils, tinctures and botanical oils could be used both medicinally and aesthetically to encourage better health through the skin, our largest organ. I was told how many of the products we use on our skin not only caused skin irritations, but were linked to major health concerns. By using pure, organic and (better yet) biodynamic ingredients on our skin, we allow healing and health to be promoted throughout our whole system. If you are not familiar with biodynamic agriculture, it is a method of organic farming that takes further steps to ensure holistic relationships between the soil and all

surrounding organisms. It is a highly sustainable ecological approach to growing food and plants that relates intimately with planting and harvesting based on planetary and lunar energies. The integrity and purity of the plant materials used in herbals and skincare is of the utmost importance. Our bodies recognize natural plant materials since we have evolved with them through thousands and thousands of years. What creates havoc in our body is when we absorb materials, either internally or externally, that are made in a laboratory. Our body recognizes them as foreign, and mounts immune responses to them. Immune responses stress our system and discomfort or disease can set in. I was introduced to this entire concept when our health store, Optimum Health Vitamins, brought in Dr. Hauschka Skincare. It was unlike anything else we carried. Immediately I thought it was over-priced. It had simple packaging, no aesthetic flare or drama and no “promises of everlasting youth.” I was curious about how this company, who has been around since 1967, was popular among many professional make-up artists and celebrities, so I called our supplier for information. My intrigue led to deep interest, so I went to Vancouver and Montreal to learn more. It was explained that Dr. Hauschka Skincare is an off-shoot of a much larger company, WALA, known worldwide for making homeopathic and herbal preparations for internal healing. The gardens where their medicines are grown are kept both peacefully and naturally. There is no technology where the plants are.

My husband and I visited their head office and gardens in Eckwalden, Germany. We saw people picking flowers with wicker baskets, large mounds of nourishing compost, beehives and vibrant color palates of flowers within the landscape of the gardens. They picked the plants during the part of the day when the plant is most infused with life force and were asked to remain quiet and meditative, in order to maintain this life force in the plant. They allowed the soils to rest in cycles so that the soils were not depleted. They further cared for the soil by feeding it with fermented mineral and herbal

preparations. Their gardens were pure. I felt this was finally a way of being in nature where we as humans are not excluded from the ‘natural process’ or harming it, but aiding and nourishing it instead; a true ecosystem we played a part in. Then they spoke about rhythm. In 1924, Dr. Hauschka, the founder of WALA, heard a lecture by Dr. Rudolph Steiner, a brilliant philosopher and founder of Anthroposophy (and biodynamic agriculture), speaking to physicians about Anthroposophic Medicine. Dr. Hauschka posed the question to Dr. Steiner: “What is the meaning of life?” and Dr. Steiner replied: “Study rhythm. Rhythm carries life.” Rhythm, the same force that moves within our heartbeat, our breath or our moon cycles is no different than that of the cycles found in the earth. This is the essence of our life, for when the rhythm stops, we stop and recycle back in to the earth, into yet another rhythm. From the lecture, Dr. Hauscka conducted an experiment to maintain the life force of a rose. He found that if the rose was kept exposed to rhythms that mimic those in nature, the life force of the plant was maintained. His waterbased extract did not putrefy or disintegrate, but rather stayed a vibrant color and maintained its scent for over 30 years, without the use of preservatives or alcohol. To this day WALA creates these ‘mother substances’ where the plants, after being picked, are in constant rhythmical exposure to the elements where they are placed in warm and cold, dark and light, movement and stillness, to maintain the life force of the plant. I was enchanted… Maintaining this life force seemed a way to create an incredibly potent product. I could see it was the difference between making a cake from a box, compared to creating a cake from scratch with ingredients like pure vanilla, fresh farm eggs and flour that has been milled that day. It is like comparing a croissant purchased from a superstore to one made at a local artesian bakery in France. Essentially, the end product is only as good as the ingredients (and the energies). I was delighted to bring this information home to my staff and with enthusiasm we opened Kolya Naturals to offer not only the best skincare we could find, but provide body and facial treatments using these incredible botanical products. Through the years we have found other companies that practice similar methods including Eminence Organics, Weleda, Jurlique and others that we offer and use in our wholistic store and spa. For me, it is always a delight to work with these products, but more of a pleasure to experience them. Nicola is the co-owner of Earth’s Aromatique, Kolya Naturals & Optimum Health Vitamins. Reduce stress damage with Biofeedback by Norma Hope Certified Biofeedback Practitioner My whole life changed in every possible way in 2009 and the stress I was under began to drastically affect my health. While I used to run four miles a day with my dogs, I suddenly couldn’t even walk two blocks without feeling exhausted. I had no energy left. I was tired all the time. My body felt heavy. Both my ears were ringing again and I felt so down, even when waking up first thing in the morning. The hot flashes and night sweats were back and wouldn’t go away, even with colon and lymph cleansing like they usually did. It’s amazing how my body just kept going. In the prior six month period, my husband and I split up, my sister Judy was diagnosed with cancer and I had to sell my home/acreage in the country (which was like giving up a huge piece of my soul). My 20-year-old cat, Mazer, was killed by coyotes and I had to give away three dogs and two cats. I searched for and bought a house in Edmonton, packed and moved myself, fought and won a two month neighbour disagreement so I could legally have my new clinic in my new home and then completed a major renovation there to include my clinic. Then, just before I opened for business, my last dog, Princess, got cancer and I had to put her to sleep.

I was 3½ years post menopause. I found out my adrenals needed those hormones that my body had quit making for years. Hormones are fuel, especially progesterone, for the adrenals and whole body. I knew I was in trouble when my adrenals were so exhausted they shut down the natural peristalsis in my colon. Being constipated again for the first time in 12 years felt awful and it looked really, really bad on my resume (as I’m also a certified colon hydrotherapist)! I tried supplements but they made me nauseated. I got wild yam cream for progesterone and intravenous vitamins, changed my work schedule and did IBP counselling - all of which helped immensely. I started to feel good, had more energy, began to work more but then I’d crash again, exhausted. I felt very scared when I could barely get up again, couldn’t walk even two blocks and I was the only one responsible for paying the bills now. I then remembered how a Biofeedback session at a health trade show had helped me feel really relaxed and had even reduced the mild ringing in my ears. So I started investigating Biofeedback more. I tried a number of different Biofeedback practitioners before finding someone I felt 100% confident in, someone who

Looking back, I’m surprised I didn’t collapse sooner. I think I would have if it hadn’t been for all the cleansing I was doing to keep myself healthy. The straw that ended up breaking my

back was menopause. A saliva test showed extremely low levels of all the hormones - progesterone, testosterone and estrogen. It also showed my cortisol level went from a medium level in the morning and then dropped to an unbelievable ZERO during the day. So this was the menopause hell that friends and clients had told me about that I thought couldn’t happen to me.

really knew her stuff. During a series of sessions, I could feel a difference developing. It calmed my hidden programming to go, go, go. It enlightened me emotionally to be okay with the tender, loving, vulnerable person I truly am. Being present, even with tears, was okay. It even helped to balance hormones and cortisol levels for my adrenals so it got me pooping again. Yeah!! Sometimes, I could feel the vibration during the sessions when some of the programs were running which surprised the practitioner. It’s not usual to feel it, nor is it necessary for you to feel it for it to be working. It works on a cellular level and can be deeply subliminal. You know how they say the healing journey is in layers, like the peeling of an onion? It felt like Biofeedback was healing me by starting at my center, relaxing my inside core - not just the outside layers - but the tiny inside center of my onion. For me, the biggest and best ‘aha’ was its astounding ability to identify emotional feelings and trauma and then balance it. And it was right on the money although some of it was hard for me to hear. That is just brilliant from a machine! Emotions that are not heard are held inside and stored deeply in the body’s organs, tissues and muscles causing tightening, deterioration, imbalance of health including sickness, disease and even physical pain. During all this, I knew this was going to be my next tool of wellness for my clients. The therapist in me had to have it. I already knew it worked and I have very high standards. And talk about the law of attraction! At the precise time I was ready to add Biofeedback to my clinic, a client who is also an alternative health practitioner had a Biofeedback device she wanted to sell. You’ve just got to love when a plan comes together!

In sessions with clients I have seen many health challenges resolve as Biofeedback addresses the underlying cause, not just the symptoms you have. We are complicated beings and so is this complex computer system called Biofeedback. There are well over 300 program screens to train and balance the client. Clients always notice improvement and a clear feeling of relaxation - with many falling asleep during the sessions. There have been some tender ‘aha’ moments during emotional programs with clients and whoops of joy when pain is gone or lessened. One client said the ringing in his ear was totally gone. Another client reported no more shoulder pain. A new client, a young woman pushed past her stress limit, couldn’t stop crying when she arrived but left two hours later with a sense of calmness - a deep knowing she would make it and be okay. All clients have a feeling of improved well being after a session. The first session for a new client is 2 hours and 1½ hours after that. Biofeedback helps you process stress differently in your life. Health Canada recognizes it as a ‘medical’ therapy. It reduces stress on all levels, it identifies reactants - things out of balance in the body, mind, emotions and spirit and helps to balance them. It harmonizes the different parts of the person, the body and even the soul. You can’t argue with results! Norma Hope is a Certified Colon Hydrotherapist, Lymph Therapist, Biofeedback Practitioner, NeuroAcoustic Sound Therapist, Microcurrent Therapist, Thought Field Therapist and more… Call 780477-1100 or go to www.lifesynergyinc.com Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It is intended to supplement your current health program, not to replace the care of a licensed medical doctor.

It is called EPR Biofeedback Stress Management and Muscle Re-education but it is SO much more. It was used daily on the athletes at the Olympics to balance their stress both physically and emotionally, plus tone their muscles, their ‘attitudes’ and alleviate pain. That is yet another validation. Technically, Biofeedback works through 16 electrical factors of the body, calculates combined impedance, amperage and voltage, capacitance, inductance and resistance (called the Xxroid process). The body is indeed electric therefore reactivity (stressors) is measured on the skin, without your feeling uncomfortable or pained in any way. Through its complicated software, thousands of frequency signatures ‘feedback’ between the device and the person via a sensor headband, wristlets and anklets, while you sit comfortably in a reclining chair. This process identifies what needs attention (stressors) specifically and then has the capability to also balance these plus chief concerns you also name. Stress is at the core of most diseases as documented by numerous medical studies. It alters your biochemistry, impairs neurological functioning, prevents absorption and slows elimination, weakens your immune system, causes hormone imbalance, exhausts your adrenals, causes recurring physical pain, alters your heart rate and other detrimental effects. Esoteric Explorations

May the force be with you by Catherine Potter Astrologer and Hypnotherapist

Julie has been taken home and therefore now Jack has no-one to play ball with.

We have interesting astrological cycles that we are dealing with this year and in this article I’d like to focus on the first six months of 2011. There is a very powerful, forceful, energy which can be used in a multitude of ways depending on whose hands it is in and their perception of the world. On one hand there is an energy pushing us to go out and get what we want. On the other hand there is another cycle that will show us in tangible ways the consequences of our actions and that what we do affects others. An interesting dilemma isn’t it? How do I get what I want without harming you or trying to make me right and you wrong?

Blue Moon © Maria Pace-Wynters — www.mariapacewynters.com

Let me tell you a story that I use as an example when I’m teaching about this type of energy in astrology. Imagine a parent invites a friend over for a visit and they both have toddlers. The visiting child (Julia) brings her favourite ball over to play with and when the other child (Jack) sees it and likes it, he decides he wants that ball. Let’s imagine that Jack has a ‘go get it’ kind of temperament. His way of operating is to use all of his will to achieve what he desires and so he tries to take the ball. When Julia says ‘no’ he bonks her on the head and grabs the ball. Now Jack (with home base advantage) has the ball but because of the pain, crying and screaming,

At two years old, bonking someone on the head to get what you want might seem like a good strategy but it will have very different consequences at 16, 25 or 45 years old - all the way from dealing with societal laws to not being able to maintain healthy relationships. That is the essence of the energy that we are dealing with - to go out, be pioneering, initiate, focus on our desires and attain them, yet not lose sight of the fact that we are all connected. Your actions affect me and visa versa and if we take that one step deeper, your thoughts affect me and mine affect you. Over the last few decades, along with accelerated progress, there has also been accelerated ‘fear calling’ (especially since the late 90’s). We have been inundated with the promise of amazing possibilities and paralyzed by irresponsible fear mongering which we, our leaders and the media participate in. When we go to fear, our clarity shuts down and we become more dim-witted (I don’t care what your IQ is) and then the survivor in us begins to makes choices that directs our life. To go back to my earlier point, we now sit with this powerful, action oriented force in our hands, not good or bad, just energy to be used. If your perception of the world is fear based you will try to destroy me to get what you want and I, you. If your perception of the world is one of interconnection and the understanding that we are in relationship with everyone/thing, then we both get to enjoy the proverbial ball. This year think win/win, hold yourself, your appointed leaders and the media to a higher standard and remember that it takes commitment and appropriate action to achieve personal or global goals. Have fun but don’t take your eye off the ball. If you are looking for tips on ‘How to realize your goals’ I have an article archived on my website, www.catherinepotter.ca, January newsletter. Can high-tech dentistry be biocompatible? When I began my career as a dentist in the late 1970’s, I never expected I would one day be using a computer to actually fix teeth. Back then common dental materials included the likes of plaster, wax, gold, porcelain and amalgam. Techniques involved hands-on mechanical utilization of the available equipment and materials backed by a comprehensive medical-dental education. My wife, Laurena, and I have been involved in the dental profession for over 40 years. As a consequence of toxic exposure to some original dental materials, including mercury amalgams, Laurena can no longer practice dentistry. It was a lesson hard learned but necessary for the insight and incentive we needed to seek solutions to some outdated dental modalities. This quest led us to an understanding of the importance of biocompatibility.

mercury can cause an inflammatory response to a perceived foreign body by the immune system. As well there are some health concerns regarding the placement of mercury containing restorations within the body. Techniques have also advanced in conjunction with the new era of computerized virtual 3-D imaging systems allowing placement of a final biocompatible restoration in one appointment. Precise implant placement utilizing 3-D imaging is also becoming a reality.

by Dr. Terry Clark Holistic Dentist

New digital intra-oral scanning takes clean 3-D measurements of the teeth, replacing the messy physical impression and eliminates some problems with ill-fitting crowns. Scanning gives instant feedback on the quality of the digital impression, something not possible with the physical impression and allows the dentist to make instant corrections before processing. Today there are many different dental materials available to the dentist. For me an important factor in the choice for materials is consideration of biological compatibility with the patient. Continual investigation is required to keep abreast of new changes in this arena.

Biocompatibile dentistry is conscious of the coexistence of dental materials, procedures and techniques with living tissues or organisms without causing harm. As many original dental procedures are becoming obsolete, more choices of biocompatible dental materials for placement in the mouth are becoming available.

The goal of Casa de Luz has always been to offer the ‘best of the best’. To this end our goal is to continue to seek out and incorporate the latest and safest advances in patient care. Our objective continues to incorporate the significant aspects of biocompatible dentistry supported by the latest in technology.

In 2005 we opened Casa de Luz, a country sanctuary in Sherwood Park, offering whole body consideration to health and dentistry. Our goal was simple. Offer the ‘best of the best’, always consider the whole body effect from any protocol and above all ‘do no harm’.

Terry’s a graduate of University of Sydney, Australia with memberships including IAOMT (Int. Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology), Holistic Dental Association. He and Laurena have an extensive background in teaching and studying at numerous advanced international holistic institutes. Visit www.casadeluzdental.ca or call 780-922-6875.

As nutrition is one of the best ways to create a healthy body and teeth, we created Laurena’s Kitchen which addresses the whole body consideration using a ‘food as medicine’ approach to support our biological dental program. Nutritional support, counselling and detoxification protocols are part of a teaching program backed by years of training and education by Laurena and myself in the field of Natural Health and Holistic Medicine & Dentistry.

Dentistry has advanced quickly toward maturity in the last 25 years with a lot to offer both the patient and practitioner. Materials have advanced so that the use of metals and mercury are no longer the only choice for restorative work. This is important because metals and

My family story of Reconnective Healing® Many people and events have contributed to who I am today, but none so dramatically as my personal experience with Reconnective Healing®. About 15 years ago while leading a ‘normal’ life, my spiritual journey began with exploring natural and holistic health practices. Seven years ago when our youngest daughter was five, she very wisely advised me that she “was waiting for ME to be ready to understand the spiritual world and our own connection with it.” Since that day I’ve been quenching my tremendous thirst for all I can learn about parenting two spiritually gifted Indigo children, while exploring my own spiritual path at the same time. So when a friend mentioned Reconnective Healing®, I was instantly intrigued! I quickly found myself at the library checking out Eric Pearl’s book The Reconnection: Heal Others, Heal Yourself (Hay House, 2001). My personal connection to the text was almost immediate and I soon realized that my hands were ‘vibrating’ with the Reconnective Healing® frequencies. When I questioned what was happening, it was again my youngest daughter who clearly understood and confirmed that being a practitioner of Reconnective Healing® was in my life’s path. I took the practitioner training almost two years ago and went on to complete the Certified Practitioner level exam last year. Reconnective Healing® has significantly improved my health and well-being, as well as deepened my spiritual connection. It has a profound effect on our lives by connecting us to the fullness of the Universe. Once you interact with the frequencies, the Universe begins to affect circumstances around you.

more love, forgiveness and acceptance or you might enjoy a deeper spiritual connection. Many of my extended family have been changed due to Reconnective Healing®. After many years of trying for a family, my cousin is expecting her first child. My nephew no longer has night terrors and sleeps through the night. The emotional impact from abuse has been resolved and my uncle feels renewed. My aunt’s severe depression is no longer present. My friend’s doctor is amazed at her incredible recovery from surgery. In 2009 both our daughters completed the Reconnective Kids® training which allows them to access and use Reconnective Healing® frequencies in their everyday lives. In June 2010, our oldest daughter, Brianna, completed the Reconnective Healing® Animals training and she incorporates these healing frequencies in her animal communication sessions, with remarkable results. She is able to assist rescue animals and has helped many animals with health challenges. Mantra II © Camie Leard

It’s true! The Universe is just waiting for all of us to be ready to know and to understand our spiritual connection. In my practice, I witness incredible occurrences as clients receive and interact with these new healing frequencies by returning to balance on many levels: physical, spiritual, emotional and mental. During Reconnective Healing® it is possible to allow yourself to come back into balance, and trust that the Universe will provide the healing you need. These frequencies are easily experienced yet are extraordinarily powerful offering the opportunity for healings to unfold. Healing can manifest in many different forms, not just the physical. Your mind may become more peaceful, you might begin to relate differently to family members or friends, experiencing

Looking for a breath of pure air? by Jeff McArthur After being diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2010, I’m more committed than ever to my health… and yours. Kidney cancer can be caused due to our environment, from breathing in dust and bacteria for many years and this has created a passion in me to change the industry standards where indoor air quality is concerned. I believe being subjected to the hazards of my job had a definite effect on my health. I’ve been in the air duct cleaning business for over 20 years and now realize there is serious need for improvement in this industry. Here are some interesting facts about indoor air quality and how it affects our daily lives:

an immediate and profound effect on such things as appetite, digestion, moods, depression, anxiety, irritability and sleep. Reducing the toxins that you breathe can have a very profound and dramatic impact on your health. • According to the state of Massachusetts study, 1989, “50% of all illness is due to poor indoor air quality.” All homes contain some level of pollutants and these vary due to the type of construction, age of the home, humidity level, pollutant interaction and the way people live in their home. My partner and I have researched this field for years and developed a new improved indoor air program for home and offices. We start with an Indoor Air Quality Testing and Evaluation of your home or office to assess your specific needs. Step two is cleaning the air duct system with our exclusive Pure Air Duct Cleaning System.

Hazy Morning © Rose-Marie Cameron

Step three, and most importantly, is our famous Five Stage Filtration System that can be installed onto the duct work which enables whole home filtration at its best (also available as a portable unit). This five stage unit is the only one of its kind as it removes everything from the air such as mold, viruses, chemicals, VOC’s, as well as harmful dust particulates. No other filtration system in the world can compare to our exclusive five stage system. This unit has been classed as a medical device in Canada, can be covered under your medical insurance as well as income tax returns. • Nine out of 10 breaths we draw are likely drawn indoors - at home, school, the workplace and restaurants. • The average person breathes in 50,000 pollution particles a day and takes 20,000 breaths a day. • An average home now probably stores more chemicals than a chemistry lab at the turn of the century, about 62,000 chemicals - most of them in the kitchen and bathroom. • Indoor air of an average Canadian home on a cleaning day can be hundreds, even thousands of times more contaminated than the outdoor air in the most polluted of cities. • Children are most susceptible to indoor pollution as their small bodies and undeveloped immune systems are less able to effectively cope. Also children’s lungs are still developing and they have a higher metabolic rate, which means they require more oxygen. • Poor indoor air quality can cause or contribute to the development of chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and hypersensitivity peneumontis. It can also cause headaches, dry eyes, nasal congestion, nausea and fatigue. • In today’s world, we inhale toxins on a regular basis and it’s almost impossible to eliminate. What you inhale has

Who’s in your bundle? from another set of friends I never thought it would come from. As Samuel Johnston said: “True happiness consists not in the multitude of friends, but in their worth and choice.” I had pre-judged that some would be in my bundle and others would not. Thankfully, my newfound bundle helped me through!

by Abe Brown According to legend, on his deathbed, Khan Kubrat commanded his sons to gather sticks and bring them to him, which he then bundled together. He commanded his eldest son, Bayan, to break the bundle. Bayan failed against the strength of the combined sticks and so did the other sons in turn.

Third, people skills are crucial. Nobody owes you or me anything. In other words, every friend we have is a precious treasure and a privilege. The moment we take our friends for granted, and lose an attitude of gratitude, is the moment that we make it difficult for people to be in our bundle. People will offer themselves as our bundle but only when gratitude, appreciation and respect are present. Ralph Waldo Emerson said that: “The only way to have a friend is to be one.”

Your ‘bundle’ can be defined as that network of caring relationships which wrap you in support and give you strength which you do not have alone. It is crucial in life that we take time to identify and then cultivate our bundle, to build partners for life. Your bundle replenishes you. Relationships are a crucial key in unlocking your destiny. So, how do we build our bundle? First, focus on building the bundle of others. Be others-first, others-focused, others-motivated. Remember that if you are looking for a bundle, others are as well! R. Buckminster Fuller said that: “You can rest assured that if you devote your time and attention to the highest advantage of others, the Universe will support you, always and only in the nick of time.” So support, strengthen, encourage and build others up! Be a light in their darkness. Offer hope when they are hopeless. Give kindness when they have been mistreated. Gently heal when they have been wounded. Share solutions when they are looking for answers. Be a bundle for others and they may return the kindness. Ann Landers said: “Warmth, kindness and friendship are the most yearned for commodities in the world. The person who can provide them will never be lonely.”

Fertility © Lorraine Shulba — www.lshulba.com

Khan Kubrat undid the bundle and broke each stick separately. He then proclaimed to his sons: “unity makes strength” which has become a commonplace Bulgarian folk slogan and now appears on the Bulgarian coat of arms.

There can be no doubt that at some point in our lives, something will attempt to break us. Don’t try to stand alone. Cultivate a bundle. There is an ancient Jewish Proverb which says: “I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders.” The only addition I could suggest is: “I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders and another set of shoulders to help carry the load.” Two sets of shoulders are always better than one! Epicurus, a Greek philosopher said: “It is not so much our friends’ help that helps us as the confident knowledge that they will help us.” The support of a bundle will enable us to stand far longer than we could on our own.

Abe Brown is a Certified Life and Business Coach and is also a Certified Master Coach Trainer. He spent several years as a counsellor and ordained minister and then transitioned into a practice of Coaching. Visit www.momentumcoaching.ca or www.certifiedcoachesfederation.com

Second, don’t pre-judge your bundle. Sometimes bundles come from places we would never guess! Several years ago, I went through a difficult personal season. I remember thinking that my support would come from certain acquaintances I had at the time. Not only was I shocked that the help I needed did not come from that particular group, I was pleasantly surprised when it came

Mosaic Interview with Lee Carroll January 17, 2011 Connie: I’m excited to bring you this Mosaic issue’s interview with Lee Carroll. Lee has channeled Kryon (an angelic energy) for 22 years and is the author of the Kryon Series of 15 books in 24 languages. Well known in metaphysical circles, the Kryon channeled books have made the top seller’s list of most New Age distributors within months of release. One of Lee’s books, The Indigo Children, introduced the term ‘Indigo Children’ to the world and has sold over half a million world-wide. Having presented seven times at the United Nations in New York, as well as in more than 24 different countries overseas, Lee attracts thousands of people to his lectures that bring a message of love, empowerment and unity for Humanity. Lee will be in Edmonton on April 10 at the U of A’s Lister Center (see ad on page 27 for more details) as well as in Saskatoon on April 9. Connie: Who is Kryon and what is his purpose? Lee: The best 3D answer I can give you is that Kryon is an extremely wise and loving angelic energy who gives me a constant love wash and information that is empowering to Humanity. The non-3D answer is that if we are all part of creator, then I am part of who Kryon is also. Therefore you might say that Kryon and I are partners in opening a door to “the God inside,” allowing me to give messages for Humanity that ring true. Kryon asks us to meld with him, and remember if the information has integrity, using our own intuition and internal Akashic wisdom. This is the magic, where the audience doesn’t just sit and listen, but rather is included in a quantum way. Kryon’s purpose is to inform Humanity about the attributes of the current shift, to be a partner with us in this incredible changing time in history, and to remind us of our part in all of it. Connie: What is a ‘channel’ and how did you come to be a channel for Kryon? Lee: A ‘channel’ is a human being who can tune in to energies that are often multi-dimensional, and in my case, spiritual. My story is that I was an engineer in my 40’s when two psychics, three years apart, gave me the same identical message: “There’s a magnetic master named Kryon who is trying to contact you.” I have it on tape from both of them. Normally I wouldn’t have been interested, but I went to the psychics as a favor to my wife (at the time), Jan Tober. (By the way, Jan is still in my life and is still my spiritual partner.) But the engineer in me didn’t want to do the “woo woo” thing, and I really didn’t listen.

28

Mosaic Magazine — Spring 2011

The messages from those two men escaped me, except for the one phrase I’ve just mentioned. Suddenly I had a puzzle to solve: How could two men, 35 years apart in age, with messages given three years apart, have an identical message about a supposed entity who very few had ever heard of? That alone started the path. Soon I realized I couldn’t solve the puzzle with 3D logic, and instead turned to my heart and my intuition. That’s when my personal proof came that it was real, and it was a profound epiphany and life changing. Connie: What was this “personal proof” that made you believe Kryon was real? What happened? What was your first experience with Kryon? Lee: When people ask me how I know Kryon is real, I smile. For MY proof is only my proof. It’s internal, profound, emotional and real. In the movie Contact with Jodi Foster, the character who played the minister, asked her: “Do you love your father?” She looked at him like he was crazy and said: “Of course I do!” He then said: “Prove it.” One person’s proof is another’s folly. What happened to me, was that when I asked Kryon: “Are you there?” in came a rush of love that made me weep. I shut the door fast, fearing that it was something trying to take over my entire brain! Later I realized that this is the only avenue that Spirit has... a personal heart connection that shakes hands with your soul and says: “All is well.” I slowly opened that door a little at a time over the years, and now the hinges are rusty from never closing it. God is real and lives in the multidimensional elegance of the many and profound layers of love. Kryon is part of the creator inside me. Connie: What happens to you when you channel? Lee: Well, I’d love to tell you that my head spins around and pea soup comes out of my mouth! Honestly, many people link channeling with the occult and very weird stuff. The truth is that most of all the scriptures of the planet were “channeled,” when you look at this logically. All the profound sacred scriptures of earth were written by men, even though people claim they are the “word of God.” How do words of men become the word of God? The answer lays in the “state of consciousness during the giving of the message.” Even the ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

Catholic church has a process that lets the Pope become infallible when he sits in a certain antique chair in the Vatican. This means that even the Pope channels! - (don’t tell anyone). So the channeling process has been with us since the beginning, and is the way God talks to Humanity both historically and currently. For me, I receive a “love wash,” and through 22 years of practice, I have a “real time” conversation with a very loving entity that is firmly committed to giving us uplifting and wonderful messages about our changing times. What happens to me? I get one foot on the other side of the veil, and it’s an addicting feeling, and one that will be with me until my last breath. Connie: Why do you think you were chosen to channel Kryon (and what did you do before that?) Lee: I was an electronics sound engineer with many awards for my work. I built San Diego’s largest sound recording studio, a facility large enough for a small orchestra. We did mostly commercials and movie scores. I was a career guy, happy in my work… until I met Kryon and had my profound awakening that God was bigger than I was told. Suddenly my compassion quotient went off the scale, and I wasn’t happy with being the engineer any more. I wanted to change my life.

Connie: How has being a channel for Kryon changed your life? Lee: Like many who have awakened to a more compassionate consciousness, I tend to look backwards and say: “Who was that other guy with my name?” I think this is typical for any of us who have had spiritual epiphanies and made life decisions that moved us completely out of the box we used to be in. I’m really not that different from many of those who I meet at my seminars. There are so many of us who have had this experience! The fact that I am a channel and travel the earth with these messages has humbled me tremendously from who I used to be. I meet and greet multi-cultural humanity and there is nothing like it. I tell everyone I can how much our spiritual family has in common, no matter what language they speak. I’m such a privileged guy to be able to do this. Connie: What happened in 1987 that changed the destiny of our planet (Harmonic Convergence)? What do you think is going to happen in 2012? Lee: Kryon is here because of the 2012 energy. You might say he is the messenger of the shift. The Galactic Alignment is a 26,000 year cycle which represents how we see the stars based on the earth’s very slow wobble. As the planet wobbles, once every 26,000 years we visually align with the center of the galaxy. But it’s such a slow movement that as we enter the galactic equator (the band of stars in the sky - The Milky Way), it takes 18 years to

I don’t think I was chosen. I think I had a potential agreement based on whatever was in my Akashic past. So it was a potential plan, and required agreement. Kryon once told me: “If you hadn’t done this, someone else would have.” Kryon doesn’t circle around the subject. He/She gets right to it. For me, that message meant that I had a choice. Now, after all these years, we have

many Kryon channels around the globe, but I’m known as the “original Kryon channel.” That just means I’m the oldest (smile).

Interview continued from page 29 get to the middle of it, and another 18 to exit it. So astronomically, “The 2012 experience” is a 36 year alignment process, not something that happens on December 21, 2012. However, the ancients saw this astronomic cycle clearly and assigned an energy to it. The Maya told us it was the potential for the highest consciousness that Humanity had ever experienced. (This is written in stone on their pyramids). Gregg Braden, modern scientist and spiritual lecturer, sees it as a Time Fractal… and agrees that is indeed a “decision point,” just as the Maya did. Modern day 2012 lecturer Geoff Stray (mainstream academic), who has studied the 2012 prophesies for over 20 years, calls it “a potential for a paradigm shift.” Nowhere in any of these studies is there a “doom and gloom” message! The negative aspects have all been made up by the media, purposely mixing up Maya mythology with outdated Nostradamus predictions, promoted by those who wish to make a nice buck in these years leading up to it. (This is the same as they did prior to our millennium change). Even the current day Maya Elders agree that this shift is one of major positive potential, not the end of the world. The Harmonic Convergence of 1987 was kind of the “question to Humanity” that asked: “Are you ready to go to a higher vibration, or will this be the same as the last decision point?” Kryon says we had reached a turning point, and our answer was a choice to move to a potential we had never had before… toward peace on earth! After the Harmonic Convergence, everything changed. Prophesies you had heard all your life didn’t happen. 2000 didn’t bring an Armageddon, the Soviet Union disappeared, the magnetics of the planet moved greatly, and the weather started changing… much of this predicted by Kryon in 1989 in Kryon Book One. There is a major consciousness shift happening on the planet, and I’ve seen it everywhere, from Moscow and Kazakhstan, the whole of western Europe, South America, and North America. Think of this: Without a prophet to follow, or a central book, or an organized church, New Age thinkers from all over the world, by the tens of thousands, somehow are awakening to a similar truth. That truth is not exclusionary to anyone.

30

Mosaic Magazine — Spring 2011

That truth for each human is this: What if God were bigger than I was told? What if I were part of the creator energy? What if there is “God in me?” Most of the masters who walked the earth gave us this very message. It’s not a new message, but one that is now something we can act on personally. Connie: You have been invited to the United Nations seven times to channel Kryon. What was that experience like and what do you think the effects where from this channeled information? Lee: The first time I was scared to death! I was taken to a committee room in the secure areas of the UN building in downtown Manhattan in New York City. It was my first time in NY, and also the first time visiting the eastern USA coast. So I was really taking it all in. Minutes before we were let into the committee room, we heard that in that very room they had just signed a significant treaty regarding Bosnia. Then… in we went. What a feeling! It’s amazing for me, and I’ll keep doing it. There are bright spots in the UN, and this is one of them… a place where only delegates and employees of the UN (and their guests), can attend a channeling! All of the Kryon UN channelings are on-line for you to read for free on my website, www.kryon.com Who knows what affect it has had, but I can point to one. I think it was the first or second time at the UN that Kryon channeled that there should be a “Council of Elders” representing the indigenous of the planet, since they carried the experience and wisdom of Humanity. They would not vote, but could be consulted by the voting membership of countries. Right now as we speak, this has been in process for a number of years, as a few who heard and read that channeling decided to make it happen! Elders from all over earth are being slowly contacted and asked if they would be available. It’s slow; very slow, but finally we are seeing the indigenous open up to us, and share what they know. It’s something I thought I would never see.

Artist’s Gallery

Reclaiming the fun in creating art by Maria Pace-Wynters “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Pablo Picasso

The fun in art definitely was no longer part of my process. I no longer felt excited to create. There was just so much pressure - to create art that everybody likes is really hard.

When I was a little girl I would create art any chance I could get. I loved to be creative. It was fun never a chore, never dull. When I was a teenager I romanticised about a lot of things: marriage, children, growing up. Like Picasso before me, I imagined my future creating unique art, having a bohemian house with piles of art and reference books on the dining room table, maybe even painting along side my toddler for hours at a time. It was unrealistic but creatively open.

ACEO Watching The High Wire Act © Maria Pace-Wynters Sisters © Maria Pace-Wynters

Then as I got older, a lot of stuff got in the way of the pure process of creation. I had a constant dialogue going through my brain. “Is it good enough? Who will like this? Is the palette too cold? Too dark?” But how could I tap into the pureness of what I was doing if the whole time I was questioning whether I should be doing it all?

36

Mosaic Magazine — Spring 2011

Now, my art has come full circle. As a mother I watch my girls create and I am inspired by them. They don’t worry about the outcome. They just enjoy the act of making something... anything. When it is done, it is done and they move on to the next thing. It’s about the process not the product.

Sure we all want to create art that we like and that other people like too, but if that is all we focus on then it becomes a chore and where is the fun in that? At 40, it’s so nice to once again be able to associate art with fun and know I can still learn new stuff… even if it is stuff I knew at the age of three. Con Amore

(Italian) With heart and soul

Being real creates real magic All I ever wanted was to be a mom, so when I finally got pregnant at 36, I was ready for the most wonderful experience of my life. But life is unpredictable. It was Christmas and just two weeks before I gave birth to Gabrielle, when I saw my brother, Gene and realized (or maybe accepted) that he would die very soon from cancer. My Mom had also just been diagnosed with cancer and had a kidney removed just after Christmas. Then just a few weeks later, when Gabrielle was only 10 days old, we moved our new little family to Fort McMurray. In addition to trying to deal with all the changes, Gabrielle was colicky, crying much of the time. My body was still trying to heal, so when I got mastitis twice that first month, it just wiped me out. This was not how I thought ‘wonderful’ would be. What was supposed to be the most amazing experience of my life was one of the most difficult. Gene died when Gabrielle was only six weeks old. Shortly after both she and I were admitted to the hospital in Fort McMurray. She was dehydrated (breastfeeding was not going well) and the doctor admitted me too because he said I looked worse than she did. While in the hospital a nurse told me about a weekly group meeting for new mothers. The group was meeting that day and she encouraged me to go and meet other new moms. I didn’t know anyone in Fort McMurray so it seemed like a good idea... until I walked into the meeting. In a perfect little circle, were a perfect set of manicured moms and their perfect sleeping little babies, like an Anne Geddes photograph. I walked in looking like something the cat dragged in - big circles under my eyes, no make-up on, greasy hair back in a pony-tail, wearing an oversized plaid flannel shirt of Marcel’s, holding my little baby, who was not sleeping and not quiet. Once everyone had a turn to talk, it was my turn. I said my name and then I think I cried the whole way through whatever else I said. I didn’t have an ounce of strength in me to be perfect or fake. When I was finished talking, every other mom in the circle looked shell-shocked. No one said a word and then I wished that I hadn’t of either.

in the group that day. She said it wasn’t WHAT I had said that shocked her, as she didn’t find motherhood that easy either. It was that I had the honesty to express what each of them was thinking and experiencing, but would not admit out loud for fear of looking like they weren’t ‘good’ moms. She added that whenever she was having a hard time after that, she would remember what I said and felt comfort in knowing that she was not alone. About two months ago I was speaking with a friend that I’d previously been very close to. Although we’ve seen each other off and on since then, our friendship had become more casual. However, this time as we talked, she opened up about a difficult situation she was going through. She was worried that she was going ‘crazy’ over the whole thing. I told her I could easily relate to her fears because I had experienced something similar. As we continued to openly and honestly talk about our lives, the more we were both comforted, knowing we aren’t alone in any of our problems or fears.

No one is alone. The real ‘craziness’ is how hard we often try to hide our vulnerabilities, our fears, our problems, when almost everyone is or has experienced something similar in their lives. In our self imposed isolation we think we’re the only ones going through ‘this or that’, when in reality, we are all here learning life lessons. I know I don’t have all the answers but what I’ve learned along the way is that my honesty, my ability to ‘be real’ has often been the greatest gift I can give to anyone or be in any situation. There is something about being real that is magical. It can open up invisible doorways that lead to hope, acceptance, connection, forgiveness, understanding, compassion… whatever is needed to bring light and transformation to a difficult situation. Often it takes a tremendous amount of courage to be open, to reveal ourselves, to be vulnerable. And when we do, we graciously invite those around us to have the courage to express their truth, their fears, their hearts desires. That’s when the real magic unfolds. ☺

Months later, when one of the other moms and I got together, she told me that she couldn’t believe what I’d said
