In this Mosaic… this week, I’d listened to Gabrielle rant and rave about not wanting to read The Great Gatsby in her English class but (in a book she had dismissed as so irrelevant) she was given a gift from God/Spirit about a truth in life – one even more profound because I’d said the same words to her years ago when she was in a pivotal situation. It made me remember why I was inspired to create the book exchange as part of my Mystic Meetings. Many years ago, Skye MacLachlan suggested I read a book that she loved and so I read it (but wasn’t loving it). Then, near the middle of the book I read one line that changed me. It was a simple line (and the rest of the world probably read it and didn’t blink an eye) but it healed a deep wound in me that I’d earnestly been trying to heal for years. And it was that book, that I would never have read otherwise, that made me see that our healing can come from just one line in a book. boccabellaphoto.com

Our next Mystic Meeting, DECEMBER 7, will feature Patricia Gibb who will teach us EFT-Tapping. Patricia’s personal journey with EFT-Tapping started as a way to de-stress her life, which led to her permanent weight loss of 80 pounds in a single year. Patricia is a retired teacher (B.Sc., P.D.A.D.Education) who is now an EFT-Tapping Practitioner (Facebook: EFT-Tapping to Change Your Life). by Connie Brisson I love when I ask a question and Spirit answers me, quickly, in a way that seems like a divine gift. Every issue I write a personal article (Con Amore) at the back of the magazine. That may sound simple but it’s not. It’s always a big journey for me. And each time after I write my article I ponder about which parts to keep (or not) so it can be the best that it can be. So, while driving today and thinking about my Con Amore article, I wondered if I should keep the story about Gabrielle in it. And this is amazing… Immediately I received a text from Gabrielle and she asked me: “Where did you first hear that I could lie to you, even fool you, but that I could not lie to God?” Wow! That was the sign from Spirit I asked for. Because you see, I told that exact story in my article this issue (on page 22) and I had not told Gabbey anything about it. Later that day, Gabbey explained that she was in English class and her teacher read the following passage from The Great Gatsby (by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Scribner, 1925): “ ‘ told her she might fool me but she couldn’t fool God’… ‘God sees everything.’ ” Gabbey said it shocked her because it was so close to what I told her over four years ago. So she wondered if I had read it in that book. Well, I’ve never read that book or seen the movie, but here is what that confirmed to me… that in every book (or movie) there can be a profound truth, a great learning for each of us – even if it’s only one line. And this is the whole reason why I originally wanted to have the book exchange at my Mystic Meetings. Earlier

Mosaic Magazine — Winter 2017

EFT-Tapping is a combination of psychology and a type of acupuncture without needles. It uses a gentle, easy to learn tapping with your fingertips on various energy points on your body to release blocked emotions and energy. Clinical trials have shown that EFT-Tapping is able to rapidly reduce the emotional impact of memories and incidents that trigger emotional stress. Once the stress is reduced or removed, the body can rebalance itself and accelerate physical and emotional healing. Patricia will give a Power Point presentation to teach us about EFT-Tapping and then take us through an exercise using tapping so you can experience it for yourself. Join us on Thursday, December 7, at the Lucina Centre, 9505 – 163 Street, Edmonton, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. The cost is $20 cash at the door and please bring a gift wrapped book for the book exchange. RSVP by December 6 at mosaicmagazine@shaw.ca Now please ask a question to the Universe (that you want a mystical answer for) before you read the tarot card article on page 10 by Skye MacLachlan. Ask a question you want some guidance about, so that the information given about the tarot card can answer your question in some way (or provide you with some insights) that you may not have had otherwise. Be open to your intuition as you read it and receive what you need to from it. This issue I’m featuring an artist known only to myself… because it’s me. I created this in a painting party last fall. Lastly, we are always looking for ways to make Mosaic even better and value your ideas and opinions. So please enter our contest to WIN $100 CASH (go to page 20 for details). The winner will be announced next issue. Thank you to all those who enter. www.MosaicMagazine.ca

Lunar gemstones increase intuition Lunar gemstones radiate a soft and reflective energy, not dissimilar to the moon itself. Generally these gems are excellent for assisting with sleep, remembering dreams, receiving love, experiencing peace and compassion, developing one’s intuition, protection from harm and awakening an interest in mysticism and spirituality. These are some lovely examples of lunar gems: aquamarine, blue chalcedony, labradorite, moonstone and selenite. AQUAMARINE is a gorgeous, bluish green gemstone, a color that reminds us of the great seas and oceans. The ancients regarded this gem as the stone of seers and mystics. Much of aquamarine’s power rests in its ability to calm the mind and unwind old belief systems that block new ways of perceiving. As the mind relaxes, one’s intuitive knowing awakens in a natural and easy way. Aquamarine is very calming to the nervous system and it assists the kidneys to release excess fluid retention. It prepares us to graciously accept major life transitions, including the profound passage into death. BLUE CHALCEDONY is soothing to all aspects of one’s being. It was considered sacred to the Goddess Diana and the Rosicrucians held this gem in highest regard, naming it the “mother stone.” It’s a wonderful gem for calming the nervous system, reducing high fever or excessive body heat, building self-esteem and combating depression. Blue chalcedony acts as a shield to protect us from incoming negative vibrations. LABRADORITE has a dark background with iridescent colors of blue, green, red, violet, gold and white dancing across its surface. It helps us envision new solutions to old problems and has the ability to open portals to other times and places. As with other lunar gems, labradorite eases tension and stress. This gem brings in evolved transcendental energies and it also grounds these energies into one’s being. It assists us in awakening to our unique soul’s purpose - one grounded step at a time.

tremendously nurturing to the supra-physical aura. Our supra-physical aura is an energetic aura that immediately surrounds the physical body – many are able to see it as a white light shining around the physical form. If a child isn’t held and nurtured from birth to two years old, their supra-physical aura will be very weak making them vulnerable to physical and emotional stress. Moonstone rebuilds the supra-physical body, strengthening all aspects of one’s being. SELENITE gently awakens the crown chakra, the center of pure awareness, higher consciousness and all-knowing. It’s also a practical gem for relieving pain and removing energetic blockages. Place selenite beside your bed to assist in remembering and understanding your dreams and to attract prophetic dreams. Selenite must never be washed with water as this will dull its polish.

Lunar gems are powerful activators of the intuition and open our awareness to the vast gifts that live within us. They’re especially supportive to work with in the evening as you’re unwinding from a busy day or at night to connect with your dreams and unseen helpers. If you’ve become too focused on outer world problems, wear a lunar gemstone and drop into the peace and stillness of your inner landscape.

If you love learning about gemstones, I am continuing to accept applications for the Crystalline Gemstone Therapist Program. To apply go to www.northernstarcollege.com. If you’ve been missing my Feng Shui articles, I’m writing a monthly Feng Shui column in Mosaic’s online ezine (that comes to you as an email once a month). The ancients directly associated the luminous gem MOONSTONE with the physical moon. Through wearing a moonstone, one accessed all of the magical qualities of the moon itself! Moonstone brings success in love, good luck when gambling and opens one’s intuitive abilities. Many have used moonstone to ease menstrual cramps and sooth emotional ups and downs. Moonstone is

Experiencing forgiveness Forgiveness, we are taught, is a letting go of hurt feelings for wrongs that have been done to us or when applied to ourselves, done by us. Sometimes forgiveness feels impossible because the hurt or shame is so great. Sometimes forgiveness is reached for too quickly in an effort to get to resolution. In either situation a crucial step was missed. Only by allowing the fullness of the hurt can we come to realize that we are more than our suffering. In order to do this however we need to be able to access the fullness of our emotional response to our experience and this is often not possible at the time it occurred. It wasn’t until I experienced Rosen Method Bodywork (RMB) that I came to understand how much my body was holding onto emotional pain from past experiences. I thought I had done all my work after years of therapy and personal growth. I thought I knew of forgiveness. I was surprised to learn that while I had in some ways achieved forgiveness, I had a long way to go before I truly could let go of the past and reach that place of unconditional love for others and myself. Where there is harm there is pain. While it is obvious that physical harm causes physical pain, emotional harm is not always acknowledged as causing physical pain, which it does. Our bodies respond to emotional pain by activating our sympathetic nervous system, which operates our fight/ flight/freeze response anytime we perceive ourselves to be in danger. In this way we protect ourselves from overwhelming emotions such as fear, sadness, desperation, powerlessness, helplessness and rage. Without proper support to process these emotions our bodies remain in these protective states and our nervous systems habitually orient around our particular survival responses, ones that worked at the time they were originally needed.

Fortunately somatic forms of healing such as RMB are excellent at helping the body regain resilience and release the habituated survival responses in the body, in order to access more positive sensations such as safety, well-being, presence, support and love. RMB Practitioners, through the use of gentle, present touch and words, work with the breath as it moves through the body as a way of connecting to the places in the body where there is unconscious emotional holding. Once the client becomes aware of the holding there is an invitation to fully allow whatever emotion, impulse, need or sensation that is being held back. Seeking a Simple Life © Cathy McMillan — www.quirkyartcafe.ca

by Cinnamon Cranston Certified Rosen Method Bodywork Practitioner

The client is supported in a way where the client also feels they are safe and supported in the present moment. It is this allowing of past experience while remaining grounded in the present moment that allows the client to fully move through and release the emotional response from their bodies. Clients are then free to experience more of themselves than before. Feelings of spaciousness, presence and peace are common. Sometimes forgiveness is also present as a natural result of being able to fully allow the fullness of the emotion that was being held back.

RMB taught me how to allow my emotions without judgment and accept the feelings I had weren’t good or bad, they just were. This brought me to a place of deep inner knowing, a place of loving essence; this is where I experienced true forgiveness. Unfortunately, continuous survival responses in our bodies (to normal everyday stressful situations) can result in disproportionate reactions - either over-reactive (excessive fear or rage) or under-reactive (emotionally shut down or depressed). Often we remain stuck in states of vigilance, “being on” or “ready” and we suffer from anxiety and stress. Over time our bodies begin to break down from the continued depletion created by these reactions and we end up on stress leave or sick, or both. www.MosaicMagazine.ca

Your body is amazing! If you break your leg, your doctor will immobilize it with a cast to make sure the bone is aligned. But healing the break is up to you. Your body is designed to repair itself continuously. When you have a fever, it is your own immune system that raises the temperature of your body to destroy the virus that has gotten in. Your grandmother knew what she was doing when she gave you a warm bath and then put you to bed with the blankets piled on top. That extra heat helped your immune system destroy the virus. On the other hand, reducing the fever with some drug simply makes the job of the virus easier: spreading throughout the body. A sick child with a strong immune system will feel drowsy and sleep a lot for a few days while their immune system uses most of the body’s energy to fight the virus. A child without an effective immune system will probably spend the winter with a runny nose and low energy because their immune system is not strong enough to produce a good fever. In the case of allergies, your body releases histamines to destroy the allergens. This release of histamines shows up as inflammation, swelling and heat. Taking an anti-histamine reduces the histamine level for the moment but your body will react the same way the next time it comes in contact with the allergen. And that will be the case until your body learns that the allergen is actually “safe,” which is how I clear allergies in my practice.

Next time your body produces some symptom, don’t be so quick to take a drug to suppress that symptom. (But of course, if the symptom is putting you at risk, don’t hesitate to take the drug). Instead, spend the time to understand the real cause… why is your body producing that symptom? That will help you zero in on treating the cause. Once you have addressed the cause, the symptom disappears because it’s just not needed anymore. Here is what a client wrote: “You’ve changed my whole outlook on getting a cold. Now I wouldn’t be upset if I got a cold. I’d actually be happy knowing that it means my body is healthy and everything I’m feeling is my body trying to help me.”

If you have a bad sliver in your finger, your finger may be inflamed, red and hot. A cold compress will reduce the symptoms. However, pulling out the sliver will take care of the cause and then the inflammation, swelling and redness will dissipate on their own. My practice is about determining the actual causes of your symptoms and then addressing those causes so the symptoms disappear. Remember that your body is amazing… quite a well-engineered system of cause and effect!

Louise Grenier, BSc. The same goes for the production of cholesterol. Cholesterol is quite important to your body and is actually produced by your own liver. Your body uses cholesterol as a patching material to repair micro-damage to the lining of your blood vessels. Without cholesterol, your blood vessels would be at risk of tearing open and causing serious problems. Most medical discoveries are the result of observing the body at the cellular level. We are always learning and there are new discoveries every day. But those discoveries are actually about us learning more of the function and healing capacities of our own bodies. www.MosaicMagazine.ca

Look to the Moon for guidance The primary purpose of the Moon tarot card is to teach us how to use our intuition. Walk outside at night and it’s impossible to see things clearly. We can’t rely on our outer senses to be accurate in moonlight. We must look inward. In that moment of connecting to our inner knowing, we’re feeling, listening and seeing in a new way. Without this inner guidance, we simply don’t have clarity. This is why the Moon card is considered a very difficult card to interpret when it appears in a reading. We must look to surrounding cards to know if the moon is indicating a situation involving clear intuitive awareness or the illusion of false impressions. I call clear intuitive awareness the Bright Moon and illusion the Dark Moon. The Bright Moon opens our awareness to intuitive insights (or reminds us to honor our intuitive nudges), heightened sensitivity, fertility, night dreams filled with guidance, prophetic visions, healing of past wounds, forgiveness, romantic encounters, spiritual awareness, mystical explorations and time for self-reflection. The Dark Moon warns of deception, disillusionment, overwhelming fear, emotional intensity, false psychic impressions, desires that overwhelm reason, harmful exaggeration, self-deceit, uncertainty, a yearning for the unattainable and a crippling feeling of insecurity. Because the Moon speaks to our individual intuition, the best way to receive an answer to a question you may have (about your life) is through this guided meditation. Please get comfortable, shut off your phone and other interruptions; then close your eyes (read the meditation through first so you’re able to remember it with your eyes closed).

As you immerse yourself in the soothing waters, the burdens of your life dissolve, leaving only your true shining self. Time seems to disappear as you enter into a receptive state of being. The light of the luminous moon beckons you to gaze upward. The moon’s light mesmerizes you, your eyelids become very heavy and fall closed, leaving you with the inner vision of the moon. The Moon Goddess gently asks if you carry a question within you. You nod your head and repeat your question aloud three times. The Goddess speaks to you of many things about your life and then she asks if you are ready to receive your answer. Look inward and answer truly because her response can profoundly change your life. The Moon © Radiant Rider-Waite® Tarot by US Games Systems 2003

by Skye MacLachlan Tarot Teacher / Consultant

You listen carefully to all of the guidance she offers and silently reflect upon her words of truth. When you are ready, blow your breath upward towards the Moon in gratitude for the precious wisdom she has given. You step out of the pool and a gentle wind dries you. You reach for your clothing and find completely new pieces to wear, including new shoes. Pay attention to the clothing as this represents the sacred gift (from the Moon Goddess) to the woman/ man you are becoming. Then walk back through the forest to the place where your journey began. Slowly open your eyes and return to the outer world.

If you’re interested in delving more deeply into tarot, I’m accepting applications for a new Tarot Program that begins in January 2018. Go to www.northernstarcollege. com for more information. You see before you, with your inner vision, a moonlit path that winds through the great forest. Step by step you begin your journey into the forest. In a short while you feel guided to follow a narrower path that veers off to the left and you walk into a clearing encircled by a sacred grove of trees. In the center of the grove is a crystal clear pool of sparkling water with the moon reflected on its surface. The water beckons to you. You remove your clothing and follow ancient stone steps deep into the heart of the pool. You’re surprised to find the water pleasantly warm and very relaxing. This is the ancient pool of the Moon Goddess.

Peace on Earth As I write this article my thoughts are pulled to the current state of affairs on our planet. It is only a couple of weeks since the Edmonton terrorist attack and the Vegas shootings. Missiles are pointed across the ocean from Korea to the USA and the threat of a World War III is palpable. Many of us are in fear of what might happen next and it is easy to get lost in that way of thinking. But here’s the thing… we humans are the medicine for the Earth as much as we may be the poison. It’s a matter of what we direct our energy towards. You see, our power to create change lies within; what happens in our inner world and how we contend with it is reflected to our outer world. We are the micro to the macrocosmic reality. This means that our experience of ourselves energetically on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level is shared with and reflected by what is outside of us. We are thus responsible for our energy output which in turn influences the vibration of our world. Energy such as fear is dense, heavy and paralyzing, while energy such as peace is light, calming and heart opening. If we feel ourselves surrounded by fear, conflict and disconnection, it’s up to us to decipher and be accountable for the aspect of that vibration within. Fear literally has the tendency to enter our energetic field and stick to any “like minded” fear within like a magnet. These experiences become the reason we use to litigate our fear or hate, assuming it is justified. For example, if you are being verbally abused by a partner (and if you already feel you are worthless), you take that energy in and add it to the reasons why you hate yourself. It could also look like assuming, judging and hating all refugees as potential terrorists and assigning them the face of fear.

up” or read that first “self help” book. But the fact is, if we want peace, if we believe in peace, we must be willing to meet the conflict that arises in order for peace to unfold. Let’s consider for a moment what peace asks for. 1) Peace asks for self-love. It asks for us to heal the cycles or stories of violence, hate and powerlessness within. This means whatever keeps you from loving yourself and feeling worthy needs to be looked at and transformed. It’s time to let go of the need to compete and compare in order to feel legitimate, qualified or worthy of love. Notice your self-talk and how it either supports you or diminishes you. Then take charge of what you notice by changing what is cutting you down. 2) Peace asks for forgiveness. Whether it is yourself or another you need to forgive, now is the time to ask Source and your helping spirits what you need to be supported with this. You are the only one who is responsible for your life and your circumstances; you get to decide what you do with your actions, choices and power in this moment. Express what is unresolved in your wounds and let it go. Chasing the Moon © Janice Blaine

by Sarah Salter-Kelly Shaman

3) Peace asks for compassion. It motivates us to bring love and understanding to suffering, even if the person we are directing it to comes from a history of beliefs, ideals and actions that contradict our own. It teaches us to listen and see the “other,” to honor their humanity, inclusive of its strengths AND weaknesses. The medicine to heal fear lies inside of your gifts and purpose. Our world needs you. Take the time you need this season to get the support and help from a qualified practitioner such as myself to do your work around fear, and start sharing your medicine. To heal fear on our planet we need to break the bondage it has on our lives. We need to accept that horrible things can and might happen. This is a fact of life that has existed since the dawn of humanity. It is not – nor has it ever been – a reason or excuse to live in fear. Fear is a disease of the soul and the stories it tells us will take us down. We need the courage to face our fear and diminish the power it holds over us. This is difficult, authentic, raw soul work I am talking about - the kind where you wish you had never “woken www.MosaicMagazine.ca

A dentist and naturopath talk mercury Dr. McKinnon: Dr. Amr, have you heard of the Environmental Protection Agency’s new requirement for all dental offices in the USA to install mercury filters? Dr. Amr: Good news! Amalgam fillings contain 50% mercury. In the USA alone dental offices contribute 12,000 to 50,000 pounds of mercury to wastewater each year. That’s roughly 14% of the mercury waste. Dr. McKinnon: It’s no wonder that as far back as 1997 Health Canada claimed that dental amalgams where the primary source of mercury exposure in the general population! Let’s talk a bit about mercury Dr. Amr. Dr. Amr: Well, mercury is one of the most toxic substances known to man. It exists in many forms and all of them are known to be toxic. It is found in three forms: basic (elemental), oxidized (ionic) and organic form (methylmercury); the latter is perhaps the deadliest of the three as it is fat soluble and can easily cross from the blood to fatty tissue including the brain. We inhale primarily the basic form of mercury, which can also get to the brain. Our body does convert some of the basic form, to the oxidized form which concentrates in our kidneys and causes a multitude of problems there. But, Dr. McKinnon, where does mercury really come from? Dr. McKinnon: Great question! Sources of mercury in our environment are natural and manmade. Natural sources of mercury include off gassing from the Earth’s crust and volcanic gases. Industry is the primary “manmade” source of mercury. It’s present in pesticides, cosmetics, antiseptics, outdoor paints (removed from indoor paint formulas in 1990), fireworks, fossil fuels, vaccines (no longer in childhood vaccinations in Canada), cremation, dental amalgam fillings and more.

and is concentrated by a process called bioaccumulation. Any exposure can lead to poisoning; we have researched this topic well. Dr. Amr: Mercury doesn’t cause a disease, rather poisoning. Acute mercury poisoning is rare but, if inhaled over a long period, the basic and oxidized forms could cause mercurialism (or mad hatter disease) which is manifested by irritability, tremors, headaches, loss of memory and mental deterioration amongst other symptoms. The organic form can cause loss of vision, speech, hearing, balance and coordination. Long term mercury toxicity can be fatal! Sadly, there are modern examples of this: Minamata Bay (1953-1960) and Niigata (1965) in Japan, and Iraq (1971-1972). Less acute forms of toxicity can manifest as fatigue, headaches, malaise, anxiety, emotional instability, memory issues, concentration difficulties, insomnia, developmental delays in children and more. As you see this is a broad and generic list and can be hard to diagnose based on symptoms alone. Dr. McKinnon you know a bit about testing right? Deep Roots © Aaron Paquette

Dr. McKinnon: Yes! Let’s talk more about body mercury testing and treatment in the form of chelation in our next article. Perhaps you can discuss SMART amalgam removal as well.

Dr. Amr: Until then! Now pass that almond latte! We accumulate mercury in our bodies from the air we breathe, the water we drink and the foods we eat. The good news is that most cities filter mercury out of public water supplies. The bad news is that we absorb 80% of the basic mercury we inhale and 95% of the organic form present in our food! Food mercury contamination comes primarily through consumption of foods (either sprayed with pesticides or grown in mercury contaminated soils) and consumption of large predatory fish (tuna and king mackerel). Marine contamination is a big issue, as most mercury sources make their way into our waterways where they are converted to the organic form by algae and bacteria. It then makes its way into the marine life www.MosaicMagazine.ca

Desire, shadows and strength And all the world is a stage… In the past year we have watched themes around power, control, dark emotions, division and a misuse of energy played out on a global stage. We have been horrified, justified, amused, angered, disgusted, outraged and sometimes secretly in agreement. Internally we are divided and it is reflected in the people we put in positions of leadership. We can watch the dramas unfold in a disconnected way, making them about other people, or we can look at what they reflect back about us. What does our intense response (attraction or repulsion) to a person or situation say about us? What does Trump, Clinton, Weinstein and his victims, Trudeau, the Klu Klux Klan, super heroes, the pope, the Dalai Lama and celebrities say about our hidden desires, emotions, gifts and shadows? Why is this important to reflect on now? Astrologically speaking, each year has a certain type of flavor to it. There are numerous cycles affecting us at any given time. There are lengthier cycles that create bigger changes that evolve over decades. There are shorter cycles that complete in a year or less. The longer cycles that evolve over decades look at our societies and the growth or decline of generations of people. The shorter cycles indicate what we are creating through our day to day actions. We tend to reflect on those at birthdays and year end. Those yearly reflections remind us that time is passing and have us look at what the ending year has reflected back regarding our choices and actions, as well as has us look at what we want to create in the upcoming year. Jupiter, which relates to personal and collective growth and expansion, is in a particular sign for a year. This means a certain type of energy is emphasized which we see reflected back through public figures, areas of desired growth, projects and themes. Depending on a person’s level of development, internal and external resourcefulness, self-awareness and world view, we

can consciously or unconsciously tap in and use this growth energy. With Jupiter in Scorpio from October 2017 through October 2018 we need to collectively and personally look at strong emotions, desires, sexual energy, power and what it means to us, and repressed or out of control desires. How do we go about this? 1) Pay attention to our shadow which is the disowned, disallowed gifts or “not as acceptable” parts of our self. People and situations that passionately (negatively or positively) charge us up (in other words, we have a strong attraction or repulsion for) often gives us clues about our shadow. If you want to learn more about the shadow, one of my favorite books is The Dark Side of Light Chasers (GP Putnam’s Sons, 1998)

by Debbie Ford. 2) Honestly evaluate where you are now (not where you think you are). To get a more accurate read, use what you have manifested in your life to act as a mirror. The realization of “this is where I am now” allows an opportunity to decide whether we are happy with our current state or not. Chances are we will find that we are happy with parts of our lives and not others. What you are looking for is trapped, emotional energy and unused power or disowned parts of yourselves that haven’t allowed you to get what you want. Coming Home © Sandra Kunz — www.strokeofsoul.com

by Catherine Potter Astrologer and Hypnotherapist

3) If you want to be able to honestly look at all that you are, you need to give the shaming and guilty parts of self a new job such as the evaluator who determines whether certain types of actions make you feel good or bad. Denying our needs or harming ourselves or others to get what we want will never make us feel good. Shaming ourselves or another person in order to get them to take responsibility for their actions or to make a change will not work. Those unhealthy or destructive actions/desires will go beneath the surface and become disowned, disconnected, deranged and distorted. This is www.MosaicMagazine.ca

why systems that teach through punishment, guilt and shame will always be dealing with themes around being in/out of control which never allows for true growth. What does work is self-truth and ownership of emotions that are ugly as well as healthy. Good and bad exists in all of us; denying it means we repress and project it onto someone else. Let’s talk more about shadow. Imagine when you were younger (age or awareness) you had a desire for something but whenever you went to act upon it someone (or a group of somebodies) made you feel bad about wanting it, or because of their inability to have it, told you it was impossible. If someone taught you to feel bad about the desire, or didn’t teach you how to get it without harming another, one of two things may have happened. One, you disowned the part of you that had the desire along with any emotion associated with it or two, you used the situation as a catalyst to willfully get what you want. Those desires were still there but they became part of the hidden you. You still unconsciously acted on them or attracted situations and people that had you come face to face with them. As we develop we learn to pay attention to our desires, even the less noble ones. We identify them and find a healthy way to work with them. When we don’t they become our addictions, health issues, suppressed emotions, false faces and unhappiness. This year pay attention to areas where you get into power struggles or areas where you feel you have to control. Look at themes around the use of sexual energy, money, power. Question what you want, what you have and what healthy or unhealthy position you have taken in order to maintain what you have or to get what you want. True growth starts with us. The more self-honesty we have, the more in charge we are with our darker emotions and the less we will feel divided. Then we can connect, harness our energy and find creative solutions for personal and collective expansion and movement. Con Amore

(Italian) With heart and soul

What goes around comes around One of the things that really troubled me when I was young was watching the unethical behavior of people I loved, (adults that I looked up to) who appeared to have no moral compass of “right” or “wrong.” And because there never appeared to be any consequences to their actions, the world seemed like a very unsafe place to me. It was many years later that I realized that consequences/karma don’t always come immediately; Spirit/God doesn’t control things in that way. Instead, Spirit allows us to experience what we need (at the pace we need) in order for us to learn our lessons in this lifetime. There is no “good” or “bad”, “right” or “wrong”, there is only learning. Life has shown me over the years that eventually we all reap what we sow. When I was in grade one, on the bus I sat beside a girl who was at least five years older than me. Just to be mean, she would pull my hair every day, no matter what I did or didn’t do to please her. It wasn’t until I told my brother, Ken, about her months later (after crying that I didn’t want to take the bus anymore) that it finally stopped after he confronted her.

this story to illustrate that no one can steal from others and ever truly prosper – it defies karmic laws. The energy we put out always returns to us. A few years ago, when my daughter Gabbey was 13, I had an incident with her. Something happened where it became apparent she had lied to me and while I know that all kids lie to their parents at some time or other, I asked Spirit (in this situation) to give me some wisdom that could help save her a lot of trauma/drama/angst in her life.

Black Swan, Guide Me To Morning © Maria Pace-Wynters — https://mariapacewynters.com

by Connie Brisson

And so, I told her that she could lie to me (and even fool me) but that she will never be able to lie to Spirit (God, the Universe, her Higher Self). In the end, Spirit knows all, so there is no escaping the truth of any situation ever. I told her that she will ALWAYS have to deal with all her choices/ actions, no matter what she thinks she can hide, because this is how we evolve/grow. In the end, there are only ever two players – it’s always between you and Spirit. We all make mistakes. It’s how we grow. We put out a vibration (through our actions, words or thoughts) and Spirit brings it back to us in a specific way to help us evolve. It’s an opportunity for us to change and ultimately have more compassion and grace with ourselves and others.

Many years later, when I was in my 20’s, I saw her again in a grocery store. I recognized her immediately but the thing that startled me was seeing that she had hardly any hair. It was a shock to me – she looked healthy enough but she had almost no hair.

The old saying of: “What goes around, comes around” really says it all. It isn’t a threat or punishment. It’s an acknowledgement that all actions have consequences. In order to understand how we have hurt someone else, we will often experience something similar so that we can integrate a deeper awareness in our hearts. But remember, timing is an unknown factor and that means that things we experience this life may be echoes of past lives or resolved in future lives.

I don’t really know what the hair loss was about for her as the soul lessons we receive are always very personal (between God and us). But for me it really helped to heal certain times in my life that seemed unjust, giving me a new peace that Spirit works in mysterious ways.

Be patient when you are weary after you feel you’ve been wronged; everyone is here to learn their specific lessons. None of us has signed up in this game of life for anything but the privilege of experiencing exactly what we came here to learn.

Then I started (in the early 1990’s) to read Louise Hay’s books and I’ll never forget her story about a man that would steal from everyone and then brag about how clever he was. But, she pointed out, he had NOTHING in his life (he struggled to live, day to day) and Louise used

Perhaps then the simplest and most graceful way to receive the hidden gift in a difficult situation is to ask: “What am I meant to learn here?”
