I Love Mosaic ease when we surround ourselves with items we love. Like attracts like. Needless to say I changed my ways, abandoned meaningless shopping and became an avid buyer of only the things I love. In fact, I may have become an over achiever! I keep seeing more things I love and there isn’t enough room in my house for all of them. So it was inevitable that I would want to share the things I love with you, to help you discover all the wonderful things we have here in Edmonton (and sometimes farther). This issue marks our second ‘Things I Love’ page in Mosaic (page 33). I’ve given you a variety of things that I love with a brief description of them, the cost and where I found them. As I’ve noted at the bottom of the page, these items may be available in many places but I’ve only listed where I found them. by Connie Brisson Buying only things I love wasn’t always natural to me. ☺ It all started three houses and 10 years ago in our first home in Edmonton when I had my initial (now historic) Feng Shui consultation with Skye MacLachlan. Ever since I was a kid, I knew that if I changed the furniture in my bedroom around, my life would change in some way. I didn’t know how it worked; I just knew it did. It wasn’t until many years later that I even heard of Feng Shui and I was instantly intrigued by its principles and magical ‘cures’. We lived in a Victorian styled home and I had quite a bit of simple antique furniture (that I had collected over time) that seemed to fit perfectly. Then I bought pictures and accessories to match them. As we went through the house, Skye would stop and ask questions about the furniture and other items - what attachment I had to them or what they meant to me. I told her that “it all just matched.” I had bought one thing to match another thing and then another thing to match another thing and so on. I was doing that ‘decorating thing’ that people do. Then she started asking: “Do you love it?” as we looked at each item. To my surprise, I really didn’t love any of it. I liked some of it; some of it I didn’t. Mostly I didn’t feel anything about what I had. Skye then explained that when we surround ourselves with what we love, we automatically attract what we love into our lives - whether that be experiences, opportunities, relationships, etc. Our home mirrors how we live our life so if our home is filled with items that have no meaning to us, it actually creates obstacles for manifesting whatever it is that we want in our lives. What we love flows into our lives with

I want to feature an assortment of items each issue that can help you in your every day life: health products, decorative pieces (with some symbolic meaning), foods, household items, art, personal apparel and more - whatever I think is great. When I can, I’m also going to give you a Feng Shui tip (from Skye) if the item can help as a ‘cure’ in your home. This time it’s a metal singing bowl and last issue it was a bronze Buddha. I’m always looking for more things to love, so if you have something that you love, send me an email telling me all about it and if I love it too, I’ll feature it on an upcoming ‘Things I Love’ page and give you credit for it. It’s only right to share the love. This issue I have to give credit to Catherine Potter for telling me about ‘Witch / Spirit Balls’. I’d never heard of them but enjoyed learning about the folklore behind them. Each one of these artistic hand blown glass orbs has unique colors and designs and I just love when beautiful things have some symbolic or mythical/mystical meaning to them. It’s double the love. Lastly, I’d love to have you join us for our next Mosaic Delicious Book Club Dinner on Wednesday, September 7 at Yiannis Taverna, 10444 - 82 Avenue, at 6:00 p.m.. We’ll talk about Shania Twain’s new autobiography, From This Moment On (Atria Books, 2011). Email mosaicmagazine@shaw.ca by SEPTEMBER 6 if you can come. To keep informed about other upcoming book club dinners, go to www.MosaicMagazine.ca and sign up for our monthly ezine/newsletter. It’s another great issue, with tons of love on every page, not just the ‘Things I Love’ page.

The journey of my healing by Sherry Olson “Well, she’s a healer. Why doesn’t she heal herself?” I overheard those words between two people who didn’t think I could hear their conversation about me. I felt so angry; the statement seemed cruel and harsh to me. Later on that day, however, I had to admit to myself that this person was right. I did work within the alternative healing community so I should be able to heal using my work. Right? I had recently come back from a trip overseas and my abdomen had felt ‘off’ since my return. My symptoms were so intense that by the 10th day I had to see my doctor. What I didn’t know then, was the journey I was about to embark on towards my own healing over the next year. My journey began with a series of medical procedures over a period of several months, including blood work, tests for parasites and malaria, x-rays, ultrasound, CT scans and a barium swallow. After each test or procedure I needed to wait patiently for the results, but they all came back the same. There was nothing medically ‘wrong’ with my body.

medication. I knew that my mind, body and emotions were somehow connected with my ulcers and the physical pain I’d been experiencing was clearly telling me there was something deeper for me to look at. I knew that if I wanted to heal my body without medication, I would need to have the courage to travel inwards to discover what was really going on inside of me so I could heal. I have been a practitioner of Core and Cellular Transformational Healing (CCTH) for over three years. During this time I’ve been through many life changes in order to be in greater alignment with my life’s purpose. To call CCTH just a healing ‘modality’ does not do the work the justice it deserves. CCTH is not a passive experience. It becomes a whole life experience. CCTH is a very deep purification process, working on all levels of the physical, emotional and mental bodies as well as expanding consciousness. The transformative energy that comes through into the sacred healing space will begin to dismantle, melt down and release cellular trauma from the body, bring suppressed emotions to the surface, eradicate old belief systems, mental structures and conditionings from the past as well as expand consciousness and deepen one’s connection with the Infinite Self, the Divinity within, Source Energy or whatever you call that for yourself. CCTH will begin to

I was eventually given two final testing procedures - an endoscopy and colonoscopy. These tests showed that I had several small ulcers in my small intestine. On one level I was relieved that I finally was told what was ‘wrong’ with my body. Yet, on the other hand, as an alternative health healer, I knew there was something deeper going on inside my body or these ulcers would not have occurred. At the end of a very lengthy process I was given a series of prescription pills to eliminate the ulcers from my body. However, I decided not to take the

empower you to make the necessary changes in your life that will bring about a greater alignment and harmony into your life. The very first time that I experienced CCTH was in a workshop in Ottawa four years ago. The workshop was led (and still is) by a profound healer named Ger Lyons (www.gerlyons.net). During the workshop, I experienced many physical sensations in my body as stagnate energy and toxicity within my cells and tissues lifted. I also felt my entire consciousness expand throughout the weekend as old mind sets and mental structures were lifted and released. I started to see my life from different perspectives and felt more possibilities opened up to me. My entire life shifted in one weekend. Since that weekend I’ve never looked back and my journey using CCTH as a way of healing and expanding my life has become the foundation in all that I am and what I do. As I embarked on my healing journey using CCTH to release the ulcers from within me, certain awareness and insights began to surface, each one in a particular order so that I could handle what was being revealed. I knew that if the insights had come up all at once, I would have rejected them. However, slowly I began to link my ulcers with many unresolved emotions that had occurred following huge life events such as a divorce, changing my career, several moves and even my family temporarily disowning me over the decisions I had made. As a result, sadness, grief, anger, self-blame and guilt still resided inside of my body.

learning about myself and making the necessary changes in my life if there had been a magic cure for me. As a channel for the CCTH work, I could now identify with greater compassion with the physical discomforts my clients were experiencing. At a cellular level, I could really talk from a place of experience of what happens in the body when the energy comes through to heal someone at a physical level. I could also empathize and encourage others to just stick with their healing journey and to continue to empower themselves to make the necessary changes in their life in order to expand, risk and grow beyond the boundaries of their life. Life is meant to be a joyous and beautiful experience shared in bliss with others. Today I am sharing that bliss more and more and being ever so grateful for the journey I have been on. Yes, indeed I would say to the two people who had that conversation about me that I am on my healing journey. It is an inner journey of selfexploration, which requires an open willingness to go to the depths within oneself with compassion, love and gentle kindness. You too can experience the healing benefits of CCTH. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to see beyond the confinements of your mind and know that anything is possible. Sherry has taught and facilitated adult personal development courses for over 14 years. She uses CCTH as her primary healing modality and offers workshops, international and local retreats and private sessions. For more information, visit www.awakenyourspirit.ca or call 780-554-1891. The physical pain in my body was now forcing me to pay attention to what I needed to do to heal my body and my life. This wasn’t, nor is, an easy journey to take. Along with the emotions that were surfacing, there were also belief systems and thoughts attached to these emotions. I had thoughts of intense self-loathing come to the surface, as well as intense fears related to abandonment and rejection. No wonder I had procrastinated taking this healing journey for myself! I didn’t want to know what was inside of me and feel or acknowledge it, but based on my past experiences with CCTH, I knew it was unlocking exactly what I needed in order to heal. I’ve also witnessed this with clients who’ve come to see me to experience CCTH for themselves. I can honestly say that anyone who has been motivated to change their life, and uses CCTH as the method in which to do this, has experienced profound and significant changes on all levels. Emotionally many clients experienced relief from their anxiety, depression, or anger; on a physical level, chronic pain often dissipated and left the body; more joy and peace were experienced as old mental structures, conditioning and patterning were lifted and greater risks were being taken in order to expand perceptions about what was possible. There were many times when the pain was being released from my body that I had wished there had been a magic pill. However, if that were true I would have denied myself the gifts of the journey in the healing process. I would not have experienced the profound nature of all that I was ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

Healing from the inside out by Jackie M. Rayner

It took me a while to recall the events of the day; l had fallen from a ladder in my own home while reaching for a vase. I was found five days later, unconscious on my left side. The prognosis wasn’t good; I was told that I would never recover my arm and my hips were paralysed as well. The first three months were incredibly difficult. I attended physiotherapy and prayed a lot. There were times when I wanted to give up and there were times when I got so angry I wanted to scream; there were times I did. That anger mixed, in with enormous defiance, propelled me forward. I had a background in psychology, education and holistic healing and things started to change once I began to apply some of that knowledge to myself. I used every technique, every theory and every suggestion I had ever learned or heard. I focussed on the positive in my life, I wrote gratitude lists every night before bed (still do), I went to therapy, I kept a journal, I did positive affirmations, I visualized my body healing itself (right down to the nerve endings conducting neurotransmitters), I massaged my arm day and night, I spent hours sitting on my yoga mat visualizing myself doing yoga. I prayed and meditated every day. At the time, I had no idea what would happen, but I was willing to try anything. Likewise, I was unwilling to accept that I was paralysed.

Eight years ago, I was involved in an accident that changed my life forever. I had heard before that things could change in a heartbeat, but I never really understood this fully until one moment I was picking lilacs and the next I was waking up from a coma to a team of surgeons preparing to amputate my left arm.

Six months later the doctors and surgeons declared that the healing was remarkable. I was not only walking but dancing every day for two or three hours. Today I am grateful for that grim prognosis. It forced me to stop looking outside myself for healing and answers; I learned to look inside myself for what I needed. It inspired me to have faith in something greater. I started to believe in miracles. What happened as a result of that enormous effort and the trauma I endured was a brain shift that opened up the right side of my brain. I received many gifts, common to people who have survived near death experiences, including the gift of healing. My entire life now made sense - all of it. I knew then that my purpose in life is to help others heal.

The last seven years have been spent refining and mastering the healing arts, including yoga. Yoga has taught me to appreciate my body, to be present, to reach for new heights, to give back and most significantly for me, it has brought me deep inner peace and peace of mind that I honestly never knew existed. In order to share this with others, I opened a yoga, health and wellness studio in Edmonton where we offer healing through the practice of yoga, energetic healing, reiki and laughter. The first thing people notice at Sukha Shack is the energy - sheer bliss, always gentle, instantly healing and guaranteed to leave you feeling satisfied and deeply content. We combine that energy with well rooted experience, planting seeds of compassion, encouraging laughter, cultivating a heart centered approach and our clients bloom like beautiful spring flowers. Jackie is the owner of Sukha Shack, 9314 - 111 Avenue and can be reached at 780-757-7693 or www.wix.com/SukhaShack/YogaEdmonton Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It took me four months, but eventually I was able to walk two blocks to the public library, where I took out all the books and videos they had on healing as well as any comedy videos that were sure to make me laugh. I ate, slept and breathed self-healing.

An invitation to surrender with RMB by Cinnamon Cranston RMT, Rosen Method Intern An invitation to surrender - that is essentially what Rosen Method Bodywork (RMB) is. Sometimes early on in our lives we experience situations that were too much for us to handle at that time. Therefore, the body would tense in an effort to numb the emotional pain so that we could get through whatever it is that we had to experience. Often the tension remains locked in our bodies and the feelings held in the unconscious.

Marion’s work has evolved and she has trained many practitioners and teachers, creating the Rosen Institute which has established training centers around the globe for both personal growth and for training. People come for a Rosen Method session for different reasons. Some come because they are experiencing chronic pain. Others come because they have heard of the work and are curious about it or they come because they want to work on a particular issue. During a session the practitioner touches the clients in a way that invites them to let go of the tension in their bodies. People often

RMB touches people in a way that meets the tension in their bodies without requiring anything from them or any effort on the part of the practitioner to try and fix. Rosen Method is unique in its use of sensitive, gentle touch and words which encourage relaxation. In moments of deep relaxation, long-held feelings or memories may surface and be spoken.

RMB was and still is formulated from the knowledge and experience of its founder, Marion Rosen, who began her journey in the healing arts in pre WWII Germany as a student of Lucy Heyer and her husband (a colleague and student of Carl Young) who were discovering the importance of breath and relaxation through touch. Marion later went on to study physiotherapy in Scandinavia and in the U.S. at the Mayo Clinic. During her years as a practicing physiotherapist, Marion became intrigued by the connection between chronic muscular tension and the feelings her clients released after being touched in a certain way. Over the last 50 years

connect with their hearts, the parts of themselves they had to put away, and the barriers that were necessary for protection or survival. For some this process takes a while, others more quickly. Always there is more to discover about ourselves. Gradually the person’s consciousness shifts and there is a change in their state of being as they begin to meet their true self. The person becomes able to trust their own process and their own experiences. As the person gets in touch with repressed feelings the pain often goes away, the muscle tension releases and the letting go continues to resonate deep within the body in a ripple effect causing a shift throughout the entire being. The practitioner sometimes witnesses who the person truly is when they allow themselves to be all of who they are - the person they were all along and had forgotten. After receiving my first Rosen Method session I knew that this was the work I had been looking for, both as a client and as a profession. After the eight years of psychotherapy I had been through, RMB helped me to heal from my trauma in a deeper and more transformative way than I had ever experienced. With the supportive touch, presence and words of the practitioner I was able to get past my resistance to some of the feelings I had long held in my unconscious. I was hooked! Now 2½ years later and in the third level (practicum of the training), I’ve finally learned how to get out of my way long enough to have the amazing experience of holding a safe space for a client, with presence and compassion. This has been a challenging and incredible journey that has changed and continues to change my life in ways I never dreamed possible.

Now in my practicum (third year of the training), I am learning with each new client what it means to meet a person where they are. Everyone is so different in how they hold themselves in. Each person, each session is different and I never know what’s going to happen or what will come up for the person. This is Rosen Method. This is the reason I love this work; it keeps me in the moment and requires me to trust in my inner knowing and to remember the love of the Creator that lives in my heart. When I touch a person I feel like I am touching their wholeness and I believe, without a doubt, in their capacity to allow their wholeness to come forward. As Marion Rosen says: “We are midwives for your feeling… feelings come up through the touch, through a particular way that we have of touching people.” As feelings emerge and are spoken the person seems to unfold and expand. They begin to open the areas of their bodies that they had been holding together. They occupy more of their space. There is a feeling that the body I am touching is no longer the same body. There is a difference to the quality of the person. There is more aliveness. I feel that it is a great honor to touch people in this way, one that I hope to treasure for many years to come. Cinnamon Cranston is the director of Aidem Health Centre and a registered massage therapist, Reiki practitioner and Rosen Method Bodywork intern. Contact her at 780-203-5159 or ctcran@telus.net Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It is intended to supplement your current health program, not to replace the care of a licensed medical doctor.

The first year of the training was mostly about personal growth and learning about my own responses to being with other people’s emotion and my own. As the person (fellow student) I was working on had feelings come up, I noticed a strong urge to want to fix it or make it better or sometimes I would feel sheer panic. I learned that often the feelings coming up for the person I was working on would resonate with my own held feelings and would therefore bring up more for me to feel and allow. By the second year of the training I had developed a greater capacity to be present with myself and so began to integrate the teaching at a deeper level. I have learned that throughout the session I’m always finding a way to meet and receive the person by listening through my hands as well as my intuitive self and by being present. RMB also requires the practitioner to have a great deal of patience. We are taught to meet the tension in the muscle, the hard places in a person’s body where they unconsciously hold a part of themselves back and then we wait patiently for a response in the person. We wait for the breath to come into the body more, for the muscle to start to release and for the feeling to arise. We also learn to use words to deepen the awareness of the person and to further the meeting. ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

What are your personal numbers? Numbers take us everywhere. How old are you? What number is your house? What is your phone number? How much money do you have in the bank? What time is it? Need I say more? Life is structured upon numbers and many centuries ago, a Greek philosopher and mathematician, Pythagoras, took time to combine all the mathematical disciplines of the Arabic, Druid, Phoenician, Egyptian and Essene sciences. Thus Pythagorian numerology was created. This structure of numbers also formed the spiritual basis of many secret societies such as the Rosicrusians, Masons and many others. Numerology is the study of the relationship between mystical qualities of numbers and their influence on our lives. A Numerology chart is put together from your actual birth certificate name and birth date, and with its high accuracy rate, one can truly comprehend the life cycle you are here to live. In one of my previous Numerology classes I had a student who absolutely did not jive with her chart at all. As I always do before my classes, I take the students information and have the charts in front of me as class begins. I then ask them to tell each other about themselves. Once they have, and with their permission, I discuss the person who vibrates the least to his/her chart. This student agreed with my assessment and I asked if she would follow my advice while we were doing these classes. Basically she said: “my life sucks so much it cannot get any worse” and agreed to follow my information.

Life, like nature, is supposed to be balanced. If you feel deep inside that you are not content then look to the numbers that are a part of you. Like anything around you, they tell a story. Would you like to know your life story and what you can accomplish? Then choose to get a Pythagorian numerology chart done. These charts are not predictions, they are factual - all based upon you, your numbers and how you can combine the energy of these and find your way. You can do anything you like in life at any time, but numerology shows you what it is you should be doing and precisely at what time you should be doing these actions.

Not only is the life chart fascinating and accurate, after studying this for over 25 years I’ve produced my own ‘soul mate’ compatibly numbers for couples. This has proven to be simply amazing in accuracy. Is your partner your soul mate, part of your soul group, a past life connection or your twin flame?

Today, at The Alternative Universe, I delight in teaching beginners courses and have added another Numerology course to my fall schedule. If you would like to learn how to find your own numbers, plus numbers for your family and friends, do register for this class. If you would simply like to have your own chart done then just call. These charts can be done on CDs and mailed to you if you are not living in Edmonton, Alberta. Please see VcToria’s website: www.alternativeuniverse.ca for a complete description of courses she offers or call 780-481-7238.

Now many say they will, few do the work out of ‘fear’. But this student was different; she listened, acted upon the advice and her entire life changed around. Within one year she was accepted to a school of her choice for Chinese medicine, found a room about two blocks away from the school, her loan was approved and last I heard, she was off to China to complete her studies. She told me that if anyone had told her this was coming (prior to my class), she would have thought they were nuts! I told her to be proud - I only looked at her numbers, she did the actual work.

Benefits of Maya Abdominal Massage “The female pelvis is a powerhouse of energy transformation; the very throne of creation through which universal creative energy patterns course and flow. This depends on balance within the system.” (Dr. Rosita Arvigo, D.N., Sastun: My Apprenticeship with a Maya Healer, HarperCollins, 1994)

As an instructor at MacEwan University’s Massage Therapy Program I’m exposed to new methodologies and modalities, as well as evidence based research. I strongly believe we treat more than just a physical body; we are connecting with the emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic aspects of our clients as well. My passion for women’s holistic health, massage therapy, lymphatic drainage, studies in shamanism and a deep love for the Mayan world and its people led me in the natural direction of studying the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage (ATMAM). Dr. Arvigo trained as an herbalist in Mexico and later as a napropath at The Chicago National College of Naprapathy. Naprapathy was named after a folk chiropractic system from Czechoslovakia - ‘napravit’ which means to repair and ‘pathy’ which means suffering. Over 30 years ago she moved her family from Chicago to Belize and in the early 1980’s she began her apprenticeship with a traditional Mayan healer, Don Elijio Panti, who agreed to teach her about the healing properties of the local plants and hands-on healing massage techniques. She studied with him and other local traditional healers for many years and has since integrated her clinical experience and knowledge of science with the ancient Maya knowledge to develop the ATMAM protocol which is being taught to practitioners throughout the world. Panti taught her that the uterus is a women’s centre and when it is out of balance her equilibrium will be off physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. She may experience a variety of symptoms that include (but are not limited to): painful, irregular periods, painful ovulation, pelvic pain and congestion, headaches, digestive problems, varicose veins, low back pain, recurrent bladder/yeast infections, PMS/depression, chronic miscarriages, infertility, painful intercourse, prolapsed uterus, chronic constipation and difficult menopause.

This technique has been very helpful for women who have had hysterectomies as well. Many women notice complications after surgery with scar tissue, pelvic congestion and digestion changes. By restoring balance to the fluid flow and movement and pliability to the adhesions, some of the symptoms have been alleviated with one treatment. ATMAM homecare regimes may be recommended to assist with chronic symptoms. This holistic approach can be used to optimize pelvic health and enhance fertility for couples who are experiencing fertility issues and for those who are looking for natural pre-conception support. I love this technique because it is very empowering to women as there is a subsequent home self-care massage protocol which supports the gains we make during our clinical session together. This will continue to improve the balance within their pelvis between sessions and reduce the number of follow up visits necessary. Healing with Colour Sound Therapy Colour Sound Therapy is a modality which combines the energetic properties of specific colours with a set number of auditory notes to create a space where healing can occur on physical, mental and emotional levels. My life has been influenced greatly by colours and sounds since learning Colour Sound Therapy. At any point in my day, if I am experiencing symptoms of imbalance, I intuitively select the frequencies that I need to bring balance to my being. Colour Sound Therapy works with matter on a vibrational level. All living matter has a frequency and vibration. To transmit health into a physical form we need to be in perfect balance on an energetic level. When there is an imbalance in the energetic body this is transmitted into a physical symptom. By working with the body’s energy, we can bring balance to the source of an issue and have it transmit that success back to us via physical results. Sound and colour work together harmoniously to create a synchronized energy which is so unique and effective sound can be described as audible colour and colour as visible sound. They complement each other so magnificently that this work naturally goes deeper to see the ‘whole picture’ for each individual. We go beyond the thinking that red is for my root chakra, my root chakra is imbalanced, so I need red - this may not be the case. Colour Sound Therapy works with the whole body, operating as a unified being while addressing specific concerns of congestion or general lack of energy in certain areas. If one area of the body is out of sync with the rest, the whole system is not operating as optimally as it could.

I follow the teachings of Dinshah Ghadiali who was the founder of Spectro Chrome Therapy as we know it today. In this method there are 12 colours used to create energetic shifts that can allow for healing on all levels. For instance orange is a fantastic colour to use for osteoporosis, which stimulates calcium production in the body. Indigo is opposite to orange. It is a very gentle and soothing colour which works wonders for pain and inflammation. During a treatment a colour will be selected for you. This colour will be shone onto the body and picked up both through the skin and through your aura. While the body is absorbing the colour frequency, 13 stainless steel tuning forks are used on different acupuncture and acupressure points on the body as well as on major and minor chakras. The tuning forks are offering a sound frequency and a vibration that can be felt moving through the body. Part of the process includes using two forks at once to create a third note which is not audibly detectable but is energetically felt. Crystals, singing bowls and the human voice are often used tools as well. Eyes of Blue © Amy Hibbard-Hiscock

by Jackie Pearce Certified Colour Sound Therapist

Colour Sound Therapy has taught me that often the more subtle and gentle a modality is, the greater the benefits one can receive. There is an immense world of possibility to explore with so many colours and sounds to experience. Jackie is a Certified Colour Sound Therapist and is also trained in many other modalities. She can be reached at 780-690-4156 or goldenlady.ca. Note: This information is for educational purposes only. Colour Therapy is so diverse and gentle; this is why I love it. There is no condition that is contraindicated by all colours. There is always an option! As well there are no adverse side effects to Colour Therapy, but you may experience the effects of colour. For instance, if you have issues with digestion, yellow would most likely be the colour to use, with the effect that after a tonation (colour treatment) you may need to use the washroom! Angels harmony for humanity The angels’ sole purpose is to gently and patiently lead you to a life of full harmony. Harmony is a peaceful commitment with yourself for all that you have completed in this life time. This starts the moment you honor your gifts and passions! The angels transmit that every single human here in this world is gifted with at least one talent. Once this talent is ignited, you will discover your passions as you become more open to opportunities of shining your light. If you are unsure of your gifts and passions, ask yourself: “What do I enjoy the most that brings me great happiness?” or “What have I always wanted to do but never had the opportunity?” Often it could be a matter of divine timing before your true gift/passion is revealed to you. The opportunity will come to commit and believe in yourself as soon as you acknowledge your gift. From there, you may receive an opening where you can take the first step to bringing your gift to life. Even something simple or profound as desiring to heal others will awaken your soul’s purpose. The archangels each have a specific role to help you discover this. For example, Archangel Raphael guides healers and will automatically be with you as you journey on this path. You do not have to see or feel archangels to know they are helping because they work ‘behind the scenes’ to put forth everything in motion.

no matter what has happened in life or your age, it is never too late to shine your light. Inner peace can deepen your harmony through compassion for yourself, others and empowerment to be in charge of your own destiny. The angels also encourage you to maintain your body and spirit through healthy living so that your harmony state is more heightened. Your well-being is significant to not only be maintained as a human but most importantly to live in spirituality. By fueling your body with healthy food, meditating and moving your body daily through any form of activity, you will tap into your internal bliss. Your bliss is the key to freedom that leads to the balance of your body and mind for optimal harmony state. Freedom then becomes an important part of constant harmony when you have fulfilled yourself and remain unattached.

Friends and family (soul mates) can also help obtain your harmony through support or life lessons of even being at peace with a rift in a partnership. Soul mates were chosen for you from your angels to be the physical presence here in your life. As well, practitioners from all modalities are angels in disguise that offer insight towards your completion. Utilize all that is available for you to feel connected and whole with humanity today. This is the archangels and angels eternal love for you as they show you the way to the natural harmony of your Spirit!

Sherry Martini is a Certified Angel Therapy Practitioner® offering sessions in Edmonton: www.lightformblessings.com or 780-710-2182.

Once you’re on your way to honoring your shining light, harmony will then take you to more of a natural state to BE. In your state of being is where you can recognize your light of self-worth, value, acceptance, importance and love. Yes, you truly are here to always be seen in this light of recognition. Guilt, for example, dims your light and the angels’ encourage that you always see yourself in the brightest light possible to remember self-love. Your Spirit is no different now than when it was when you were first born shining! Even if you have forgotten this,

A change for the better When dealing with the healing of an injury there are many ways to create a change. If you want your journey to go well, there’s one thing you must know. Is the change better? Or is it just different? With any health service the problem isn’t usually the assessment or the treatment. The problem faced by both client and practitioner is, did the treatment produce the desired outcome. What are the good, better and best outcomes? The word health is so branded these days, so let’s start with what ‘health’ means. Health is not merely the absence of symptoms, but for many people this is the standard for a healthy outcome. In today’s world, the lack of symptoms is a mediocre state of health - it’s not enough. The next stage would be that you feel strong, flexible and stable in your body even if you work the injured area. This outcome is known as the return of function. So voila, symptoms improved and the return of function! Excited yet? For most of us this is the happy result of good healing services and plenty of your own elbow grease. This is also where most services stop. Not much to rave about… Wellness is the new kid on the block. Wellness raises the bar on all of our healthier choices. Wellness is a way of living our life that allows room for joy, joie de vivre. It is a flexible dynamic skill that involves body awareness and feeling.

breathe more easily and fully. Imagine having a posture that supports you even in unusual circumstances. Imagine having the flexibility and zeal to do new activities like climbing, cycling, yoga or martial arts. Imagine being able to join in a variety of activities at any age. Imagine being excited about learning new things, like cooking, home renovation or planting a garden and landscaping. The improved ability to DO just barely scratches the surface of wellness. Wellness lifestyle is more like waking up from a dream every day. Boredom becomes more difficult. Those things that bothered you start to transform into renewed purpose. You start to BE the person you always knew was possible.

You stop pushing where pushing only brings grief, frustration, dissatisfaction, judgment, blaming, anxiety and depression. You find clarity in how to approach life’s challenges in a way that accommodates your style. You have a wider range of emotions and allow yourself to feel them, trusting in your own experience and values. You can assess and validate your own progress, a principle unheard of in some health services!

You come to recognize that your body has this amazing wealth of resources specifically tailored to YOU. And you live this resourcefulness - you don’t pull it out of storage when you need it. However, since my personal Reconnection®, I have transformed the way I do my work. Reconnection® facilitates evolution. “The Reconnection is to bring us into the fullness of our inherent connection with the universe,” according to the FAQ at www.TheReconnection.com. The process of Reconnection® brings in new axiatonal lines that enable us to standardize unique vibratory levels for healing and for our evolution. It is done once in a lifetime and takes two sessions on two consecutive days with a Reconnective Healing® Practitioner. After high school I became a registered nurse. Disenchanted with the medical system of treatment and medication, I felt drawn to prevention and chose occupational health and safety as my area of practice for many years. In the late 90’s I became aware that ‘wellness’ involves choice and alternative holistic healthcare gradually became my new focus. I learned and taught alternative holistic approaches, actively continued nursing and became a ‘healthcare educator’ for the next five years. In early 2009, after hearing Dr. Eric Pearl talk about Reconnective Healing® and The Reconnection® on a CD (HealingRelease.com, 2008), I was compelled to seek Reconnection®. How to establish healthy boundaries by Youmashni Naidoo Life Coach

Why is it that we are willing to set boundaries for our physical safety, yet we are reluctant to do so to protect our mental, emotional and spiritual lives? While healthy boundaries are different for everyone, broadly defined, they are the invisible comfort zones that exist in our bodies and emotions that let us know when we are acting in our best interests.

Surviving Turbulence © Kristine McGuinty

When we stand too close to the edge of a cliff and peer into a deep canyon, our bodies immediately react to the experience. Feelings of nervousness, apprehension and fear are often accompanied by a variety of physical symptoms like a racing heart, sweaty palms and a queasy stomach. Our instinct is to step back from the edge and set a boundary for ourselves to remain safe.

When we ignore our boundaries, we dishonor ourselves and the result is usually lingering feelings of emotional upset, anger or anxiousness, which we feel physically in our bodies. People call these communications from our bodies many things: red flags, gut feelings, hunches or intuitions. We’ve all had them. We’ve all disregarded them. We’ve all suffered the consequences of not listening to ourselves. With such strong signals, why do we persist in ignoring the signs? Often it is because we think boundaries are selfish. No one wants to be thought of as selfish. With lifecoaching, the difference will become easy to distinguish. One life-coaching tool used to set a boundary is asking ourselves whether or not we really want to do the activity and how we feel about it. If the answer is positive then we can proceed with confidence. If we can’t honestly say that we feel/want to be involved, then we can set a boundary that honors what we truly want. When we honor ourselves we always feel more at peace, because we aren’t tolerating a situation we don’t want.

been so enthusiastic about wanting to visit there. So she went along despite her growing unease. She quickly found out what her feelings had been trying to tell her all along - that they were not compatible traveling companions. The trip was a misery. Had she listened to her feelings and set a boundary, things would have turned out differently. She deserved a relaxing, enjoyable vacation, but she chose to judge her feelings and talk herself into doing something that didn’t feel right. Ignoring her gut response resulted in a lousy time and ruined her relationship with her acquaintance. The logical mind wants to tell you what it thinks is the right thing to do. However, how you feel and how your body is reacting is evidence of what really is the right thing to do. The next time your logical mind goes against what you are truly feeling STOP and LISTEN to it. This is your internal intelligence speaking to you and telling you what is right for you. When we ignore our intuition and gut feelings, it also interferes with and disempowers the life journeys and learning paths of others. Setting boundaries for ourselves allows others to learn how to do the same. Life-coaching can help us seek out and value healthy boundaries. Gentle and direct coaching provides tools and techniques to allow boundary setting that is neither confrontational nor adversarial. Working with a coach enriches lives in a number of ways as we learn to respect, acknowledge and understand our feelings. Youmashni has been a Certified Life Coach since 2004. She is working on her new book, Igniting the Fire Within: The Six Steps to Finding Joy, which will be out in the spring of 2012.

For example, one of my clients was asked by an acquaintance, not a friend, to go with her to San Francisco. The client had always wanted to go. She had time off. She had the money. Skye’s View

Alignment with your authentic self Trust that you have opened up an energy that will transform your life and align you with who you truly are.

Several months ago I did a Feng Shui consultation for Maureen, a woman who lives in a three story home. She was concerned that she had been without a romantic partner for a very Could Feng Shui help her,

Last week I spoke with Maureen to find out what happened for her after she did this cure. She told me she realized that many areas of her home represented the past. Her grandmother died in an accident when Maureen was only eight years old and she wasn’t allowed to go to the funeral. As Maureen felt the energy of the lower floor, she realized that almost everything in this area had a connection to her grandmother. She also realized that she had never let herself mourn her loss, so she decided to visit her grandmother’s grave, to grieve and say good-bye. When she returned home, the lower floor underwent a total transformation and is now a bright, joyful area that reflects who Maureen is now.

I always begin consultations with a tour of the home. It’s amazing how much our homes reveal about what is occurring in our lives. Maureen’s home was very intriguing. The main floor had traditional furniture and décor. Upstairs was very whimsical, filled with crystals, drums, rattles, singing bowls and unusual, vibrant paintings. The lowest floor looked like another time period, with furniture and old photos that reflected the late 1800’s. It had a cold and unwelcoming energy. I told her that it appeared to me that three different people lived in this home. Then I asked her, which person is looking for the romantic relationship? She was unable to answer my question, which initiated a journey of self-discovery. I told her that when her home reflected her authentic self, she would quite naturally attract the romantic partner that she was looking for. Then I gave her the following Feng Shui cure. Enter each room of your home as if you are a stranger and on a blank sheet of paper write the story of the room. Imagine that you are a detective - who lives here, what happens in this room, does desire live here, what holds the residents back, what are the sorrows of the room? You might even get information about the inhabitant’s childhood, their relationship with other members of the family, their personal life philosophy. What emotions reside in the room? Does the room feel lively and filled with energy or is it quite dead? Use all your senses to explore the room.

You don’t deserve me © Chris Riley — www.rileyart.com

long time. she wondered.

by Skye MacLachlan Feng Shui Consultant

The main floor, she discovered, represented the conservative values of her parents. Again, Maureen did some clearing and is now in the process of creating a space that feels authentic to her. Maureen added that the impressions received on the upper floor are still in the ‘brewing’ stage. In Feng Shui our homes, like our lives, are an ongoing process of self-discovery. Skye has specialized in Feng Shui for the home and business for over 30 years. She teaches Feng Shui, Tarot and Dreamwork at the Northern Star College of Mystical Studies in Edmonton, www.northernstarcollege.com or 780-447-3667.

When you have finished writing the story of the room, tuck it away somewhere in the room and go to another room. Over time, finish the whole house. When finished, take a 27 day break. After the break, go through your home and read the descriptions of each room; let this information brew inside you. Then trust the instincts and urges that arise in you to make changes in your home. You may even have dreams that offer guidance. Don’t rush yourself; let the process unfold in a natural manner. ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

The biggest investment in your life? by Jeff McArthur It’s funny now, but looking back I thought the biggest investments in my life were my home, vehicles and the children’s education fund. But after being diagnosed in early 2010 with a life threatening disease and battling kidney cancer, I truly know now that my health is the most important investment in my life. Not only is it the most critical thing for me, it also is to my loving wife and our two wonderful children. What would life be like without Dad being there

almost every air filtration system on the market and for many years in my own home (I have the power bills to prove it). I must say thank-you to the manufacturers that donated their products for my vigorous testing. After much trial, error and field-testing I found one air purifier (proudly made in Canada) that stood out and outperformed all the others. We also developed a program to go along with our #1 air purifier and a team that could accompany/support such a wonderful product. The development of a new cleaner, healthier and safer furnace and duct cleaning service was also key for us. I know that standard duct cleaning systems can create more of a mess during the cleaning process so we make sure the job is done RIGHT the first time. Our ‘one of a kind’ services include indoor air quality testing followed by our cleaner, healthier duct cleaning service.

Tranquility © Mark Soparlo — www.sopario.com

Testing is very important, so we can show you what you and your family are actually breathing in your home or workplace. We offer a wide variety of air testing from dust particulate, mold, bacteria, VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) radon and are now offering electromagnetic field testing. We are the first company in Canada to offer everything in one package - air quality testing, world’s best air purifiers, state of the art pure air duct cleaning service with professional installers and I guarantee the best customer service in the indoor air quality industry.

for them? It makes me now understand what matters most in my life and how fortunate I am to have a second chance in this wonderful thing called ‘life’. I had already been working in the indoor air quality business for over 20 years, but after my illness, I was even more determined to provide the public with the cleanest air possible. My wife also submerged herself into research and dedicated time and energy towards helping me battle my cancer and to develop more innovative ways for me to improve air quality for my clients.

It’s time to start protecting your biggest investment - your health. I’ve done the hard part, developing the program that offers the best air quality money can buy, so you and your family can breathe the healthiest air possible in your home or business. All you need to do is decide to make your health your number one investment. Jeff is the owner of Pure Air Experts in Edmonton, AB. Late last summer we opened the doors to ‘Pure Air Experts’, thanks to support of friends, family and a great partner that took a chance and believed in my vision. For many years with my other company, Parkland Furnace, I tested and developed our Pure Air Experts Program which came from my questioning the indoor air quality in our homes and offices using standard practices offered by myself and other companies for years. Having worked in this industry for such a long time I have seen it all when it comes to cleaning the air we breathe. In 2005 I really started to investigate what was being offered in the indoor air quality industry. I have tested

Esoteric Explorations

Redefining the family blueprint by Catherine Potter Astrologer and Hypnotherapist

With so many family members gathered in one place (who would not normally socialize) it was easy to see the struggle as family roles are being redefined.

I was at a wedding recently and during the ceremony, when the minister asked the parents of the bride and groom to stand up, the whole front row stood.

As recently as the late 50’s the norm for families was one mom and dad who stayed together through thick and thin and were usually of the same race, culture and religious background. Even throughout the 60’s and 70’s you were still the ‘child’ from a broken home or the ‘person’ who was married to a partner of a different race or color. Same sex partners were very rarely openly acknowledged.

Siblings © Denise Lebevre — www.deniselefebvre.com

Because of blended families there were step moms and dads on both the bride and groom’s sides. By the time you added in step grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins, it made for a whole lot of loving and beneath the surface tension.

With the increase of divorces, mixed racial/cultural and same sex marriages the norm for the family blueprint blew apart. Global shifts in family structures and relationships, intellectually are easy to grasp, however it takes a few generations to figure out the practical application and emotional repercussions of the shifts. As children grow up with step parents, step siblings, same sex parents and/or culturally blended families, the roles get muddy and knowing how one is suppose to behave can be challenging. Historically marriage and the children born from them were a tried and trued way of bringing warring tribes together. Now through personal choice rather than arranged unions many more people (consciously or unconsciously) are opening their minds and hearts to becoming more universal and inclusive in their beliefs and values. We most certainly have “come a long way baby however we need to have compassion, tolerance and patience for ourselves and our family members as we go beyond generations of conditioning and defined roles. Rapid technological, spiritual, and cultural advancement are part of a leap in evolution, however it takes longer for the digestion of these advances in our body-mind and hearts. Artist’s Gallery

Connecting through light and art by Chris Riley If I have a quest as an artist, I guess it’s to somehow capture a particular moment or feeling in whatever media or colours feel right to me. I mostly Contemplating Crow © Chris Riley work in acrylics but love the adventure of multi-media with occasional injections of charcoal, paper and thick acrylic concoctions to maximize on the contrasts possible between sweet and gnarly or opaque and luminescent. Painting for me needs to be like my life, a strong colorful home base with constant adventure and a healthy dose of uncertainty and surprises. I love getting lost in the process so far that I scare myself into the possibility of not resurfacing and then I do - sometimes triumphantly sometimes not; but always with a new insight and lesson (and of course, with little hints and peaks at what went on before).

Where does your power lie © Chris Riley

I believe it is the light where I find we are all connected and the spaces between the

light are of equal and infinite bonding. Perhaps that’s one purpose of an artist, to shed a little light on the energy that connects us all and make that a positive experience. I purposefully try to leave out the obvious which allows the viewer to participate in the painting and share in the adventure as well. My philosophy may not necessarily be how others see the world but I invite you to consider the possibilities.

Always with you always © Chris Riley

I find inspiration in my country surroundings mixed with vintage photos, references and loads of imagination for my latest western and native works. I paint full time from my studio in my heritage home in rural Alberta. (Italian) With heart and soul

Wishing and hoping and praying I wish, I wish, I would have wished so many more wishes. When I look back on my childhood, if I could go back to that little blonde girl and tell her just one thing that could change her life, I would tell her to never stop WISHING. I don’t remember wishing for very many things when I was young. Early on I learned to quickly accept the way things were. Life was the way life was. As an adult who has taken a fair bit of personal development classes, I’ve frequently journeyed back to the little girl I once was. I’ve often asked myself what I could have done differently to have collapsed time/learning/ pain to get to the ‘good’ stuff in my life faster. One day I realized that it was me that stopped my own progress and bliss. Somewhere in my youth I started to believe other people (other unhappy and limited people) who would tell me that I could not have what I really wanted; that it was not possible. Because I saw that it was true for them, I somehow decided it must be true for me too. That was one of the biggest lies I’ve ever told myself. It’s true that when you give up on yourself or your dreams that the doors to those dreams quickly close and evaporate. It is our energy that opens or closes life’s doors. I stopped my own opportunities (quite unconsciously) because I believed that I couldn’t have what I really wanted. I thought that if I couldn’t get what I needed and wanted from people in my immediate environment, that ‘it’ was not available to me at all. It never occurred to me at the time that I could just wish, an anonymous wish sent out to the abundant universe, like a message in a bottle in the sea for anyone to synchronistically find. Now that I know more about the power of positive thinking and the vast quantum energy that is evoked when we use our limitless imaginations, I know that a wish is more than just a wish. A wish is like a prayer. It’s a concentrated burst of our energy put into a thought form. When you make the wish, like a balloon it drifts off into the air, into the Universe, in a bubble of light that will (by the Law of Attraction) attract and be attracted to thoughts/energies of similar vibrations. You don’t

know who will find your balloon and answer/help you with your wish. That’s up to the Universe. Your job is just to release that wish. Let serendipity do the rest. Recently I was in an art gallery in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in Washington, USA. I told myself I could only look, but then I saw it… It was a photo of 26 wishing stones shaped into a heart, aptly named Wishing Heart. Stones with a white stripe through them are often called ‘wishing stones’. At first I just stood there, trying to figure out if the white stripes on the stones were real. It seemed incredible to me that anyone could have found that many wishing stones that worked so beautifully together. Then I read the bio on the artist, Jane Buck, and discovered that she and her young granddaughter had indeed found these stones themselves and that the stripes were real (not painted on, but formed naturally). © Jane Buck — www.planetgrateful.com

by Connie Brisson

I was captivated by it. This image instantly reminded me that I needed to wish for what I want and not surrender to what currently appeared to be true. The message really struck me, as that day I was (once again) internally struggling to make sense of a difficult (almost 20 year old) family dynamic that sometimes seemed rather hopeless.

I bought the artwork, intending it to serve as a catalyst, an anchor/physical reminder in my home to remind me to keep wishing. And it’s working. I’ve found myself lost in negative thought walking by it and then smile, remembering to make a wish for what I want, not what is. It’s what I would have told that little Connie if I had been a mentor to her long ago… Don’t accept what is. Wish, hope and pray for what you really want. Wishing stones can often be found in nature. Here is a magical process to follow if you find one along a lake, river, ocean… Blow on the stone three times and then whisper your wish to the stone. (Jane and her granddaughter kiss the stones too after they make their wishes.) Then throw it into a body of water, but don’t look where you threw it; if possible throw it with your back to the water and listen for the splash. Then walk away without looking back. What will your first wish be?
