I Love Mosaic Another thing that has substantially changed is our circulation and with this issue, Mosaic is expanding even more into Red Deer and EXPLODING into Calgary. With the ending of a few other mind/body/spirit magazines in Alberta in the last year or so, it seemed only natural that Mosaic would step in to support the people in Red Deer and Calgary’s holistic communities. We’re already well loved and respected in Edmonton and many other places in Alberta. And I’ve no doubt that both Red Deer and Calgary readers will begin to love and appreciate Mosaic, as they see what the rest of Alberta has known for many, many years - that Mosaic is the ‘real deal’.

www.L3photo.com

We care about what is in this magazine because we really want to help people change their lives. This has never been about ‘business’. It’s always been about helping people, about letting people know that there are choices they can make that can change them forever, about therapies that can heal them from the inside out, about people who’ve been there, who’ve walked through ‘the valley of death’, and then come back to bravely lead others out of it.

by Connie Brisson I can remember the moment when I knew I had found my calling in life. It was during my field placement at the Edmonton Journal (in my final year of Journalism at Grant MacEwan) when I wrote a feature story about people with terminal cancer at a local hospital at Christmas. I knew this was the kind of writing I wanted to do. I was already certain that I didn’t want to write about the rising cost of gas or postage or any other so called ‘newsworthy’ story. I wanted to write stories about real people, stories that could touch and change others. But there weren’t a lot of places here to publish stories like that then. After I graduated from Journalism, I became disillusioned about writing and being a weekly newspaper reporter. In fact, I gave up the whole idea of writing and later became an Executive Assistant instead, quietly daydreaming about someday being able to write for a local magazine that could really have a meaningful impact on people’s lives. But I never could have imagined then how wonderfully it would all work out - that 20 years later I’d be doing something even more meaningful than I’d ever hoped for. Mosaic Magazine has been the answer to a deep longing I’ve had for a very long time to make a difference in the world. When I took over Mosaic Magazine in 2004 from Catherine Potter, I knew it wasn’t a coincidence. I knew it was the result of years of wishing and hoping and praying for a magazine/venue of substance. And since then the magazine has naturally grown and changed. It’s gone from being almost all black/white newsprint to a full color, full gloss professional magazine that oozes with love on every page!

Mosaic Magazine — Spring 2012

I think the best part of Mosaic is that you get to hear from real people who touch you with their personal stories. What inspires, what touches, what heals each of us is so different - yet each story can make such a great impact, rippling out to affect so many people. Learning about what has helped others change their lives, can in turn change our lives, and that’s why I love publishing this magazine. Mosaic isn’t like any other magazine currently out there and I’m honestly so proud that’s true. Every page, every article, every word in Mosaic matters because I don’t want to waste your time or mine. Each issue has a variety of people, knowledge, therapies and opinions for you to learn about/consider, and that’s why it’s called Mosaic - because there’s an array of different choices out there that can help you change your life and once you know about them, you can pick and choose what is right for you. I didn’t know the way it all would go, so many years ago when I started Journalism, but I couldn’t be more pleased with how it ended up… with you and I together on this page, right now. It doesn’t matter where we’re from - Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, Red Deer or any of the other amazing places in Alberta - we’re all in this together, trying to make the world better, one day at a time. When we do it collectively, we’re stronger and our lights shine brighter - and that’s how I hope Mosaic can continue to make a difference in Alberta! Make sure to fill out and mail in our Reader Survey on page 36-37 if you want to win one of 24 great prizes! Why do we self-sabotage? by Zaheen Nanji Success Coach

family and then we would end up going back to church at 6:00 p.m.”

Do you ever wonder why some people can eat what they want and don’t struggle with their weight? Often the answer can be found with this question: “What is your relationship with food?”

I then asked her the next important question: “WHAT made you decide to have pancakes?” She quietly answered: “Comfort. The conference had a lot of information to learn. I just wanted some comfort.”

I have a client (let’s call her Jane), who found herself sabotaging her efforts when she was reducing her weight. She was staying away from products that contained wheat or gluten because she noticed that, not only did she feel sluggish, but she would bloat as well. During our session she told me a story about a conference she had just attended over the weekend. All the snacks there contained wheat and sugar, but she said: “I did well. I stayed away from those products, ate my own snacks and watched what I ate. However, when I came home on Sunday evening, pizza was on the menu and I did not feel like eating that, so I ended up making pancakes and enjoyed it.”

Twiggy © Denise Lefebvre — www.deniselefebvre.com

As a Success Coach, it is interesting to notice the behaviours and decision-making process between naturally thin people and people who struggle with weight. One of the main drivers is our limiting beliefs about our self-worth or beliefs about our relationship with food.

Notice that Jane’s behaviours were guided by what happened in her childhood on Sunday nights with her family and (the most common one) emotional eating using food to make herself feel better. We often make relationships with food and some of these are in our subconscious and often linked to when we were younger. Jane had just been through a tough weekend and when she came home to her family on Sunday evening, her subconscious mind linked that to the habits formed in childhood and how it made her feel - secure and comfortable. There is nothing wrong with feeling secure and comfort, but instead of forming such relationships with food and feeling like it controls you, we can use other resources that give us the same feeling, like taking a bath or going for a walk. In my program, Release the Weight, I have many clients who have learned to change their relationship with foods and their beliefs, and it is amazing to see that most of these stem from our childhoods. However, we do have the power to train our subconscious mind and replace our limiting beliefs with empowering ones.

Then she asked me: “Why do I do that? On one hand I want to stay away from sugar and wheat, but on the other hand I sabotage my efforts!”

Zaheen Nanji is a Success Coach, professional speaker and owns Shanti Wellness Centre. She created the program ‘Release the Weight’ and also facilitates the ‘WealthyMind Retreat’. www.shantiwellnesscentre.com and www.zaheennanji.com

From my coaching experience I knew this sounded like an internal conflict, but I wanted to explore what was going on in her mind that was guiding her behaviour. I asked her: “HOW did you decide to eat pancakes?” She started by answering: “It was easy to make. I felt like eating pears with pancakes. I knew my son would enjoy eating pancakes with me and (then came the slam dunk)… well, during my childhood, Sunday suppers were ‘treat suppers’. I asked her to elaborate and she explained: “After Sunday morning church, our family would have a huge meal so by early evening we were not really hungry and we would end up having quick meals.”

The mind-body connection and cancer Psychoneuroimmunology, which is the study of how mental, neurological and hormonal factors affect the functioning of the immune system, has interested me for several years. It’s a subject I’ve devoted part of my life to learning, while practicing as a Clinical and Medical Hypnotherapist and a Psycho-Oncologist in private practice for more than 15 years. I hold a M.A. in Transpersonal Psychology, two Doctorate degrees and I recently attended the MindBody Medicine Program with Dr. Herbert Benson at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. It was more than 23 years ago that my wife acquired her first cancer. Ten years later she was struck by a new cancer. She again recovered making her a two-time survivor of an illness that, not long ago, was considered a death sentence. This experience forced me to abandon the field I was in to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist/PsychoOncologist. Through her experiences and later through my client’s experiences, I gained valuable insight into the way a cancer patient thinks and feels. Cancer is not an accident. It is the result of both psychological and biological factors negatively affecting the immune system, destabilizing it. Once the immune system is stabilized, it is capable of blocking and eliminating the cells that create tumors. Cancer is not a tumor - it’s a condition, and like any condition, it may be reversed. It is important to understand that the body develops cancer cells throughout an individual’s entire lifespan, but most people do not develop cancer even though cancer cells are continually produced by the body. This is because the body has a natural immunological surveillance system that sets in motion a variety of immune system processes that protect against tumor formation.

It is already known that there is a mind-body connection in the genesis of cancer and cancer therapies have not yet incorporated ways to modulate and potentiate the immune system. In every situation involving a destabilized immune system, I tend to look for the factors, the tragedy that created this alteration, which in many cases are not known by the client/patient. The information is hidden somewhere in the body-mind and, in order for my client to access it, I utilize clinical hypnosis to reach the unconscious contents of the mind and the sickness-related programs that are blocking immune activity, to give the body-mind a fighting chance.

by Dr. Francisco Valenzuela, MA, DCH, PhD. Clinical/Medical Hypnotherapist, Psycho-Oncologist

Many of my clients, my wife included, have taken advantage of this chance and fought to win. Through individual and couple’s therapy, I use the same evidence based approach to work with every one of my clients suffering from a psychosomatic sickness.

The most pressing emotion that brings this client to my office is fear. They normally have insufficient information about their sickness, and they feel that they have lost control of their lives. They were not informed that they possess powerful tools in their body-mind to fight the disease, and that their participation in their own healing is very important. In my office, they become members of the healing team. They become their own therapist. Dr. Valenzuela is a member of the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO), the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) and the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counselors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP). I believe that cancer can be influenced by psychosocial factors, a belief that was confirmed at the Harvard Medical School. Most of the presenters agreed that 80% of the visits to the physicians were motivated by psychosomatic problems. ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

Skye’s View

Welcome the Year of the Water Dragon by Skye MacLachlan Feng Shui Consultant

will arise due to overwork and stress. Single pigs have lucky stars for romance.

Dragon years like to shake things up and move us towards change!

Rat / Mouse: This is an average year with no big dangers but no major breakthroughs. The harder you work, the more you’ll gain. Health is good, though stress can cause some health problems for you. Romance may spark when you least expect it.

The element that is totally missing this year is fire. Fire ignites passion, gives us energy and inspires creativity. Fire is action and power. Without the fire element we might feel a lack of energy, pessimistic and even laziness. One way to help bring this into balance is by wearing the color red, burgundy, pink and orange. Dragon: There are many work and study opportunities available. You will be more reactive and emotional this year. As well, avoid risky behaviors and environments. Take care when driving - you have the accident star to contend with. Snake: This is quite a good year for snakes unexpected gains, helpful people, new work opportunities and no major health problems. Horse: Money is average, though it tends to come and go quite quickly. An elderly family member may be dealing with serious health issues. Apart from some aches and pains, your health will be fine. Sheep / Goat: All of your past efforts around work will pay off financially this year. In other areas, it’s an average year.

Ox: Female ox will be far luckier than the male. The female has excellent career and money stars. The male will deal with heavy competition in the workplace. This is a good year to learn how to meditate, helping you to avoid stress related illnesses. The female ox has good relationship luck this year. Adena Awakens © Lorraine Shulba — www.lshulba.com

In 2012 we will see this in the world (one example is that the protest movement will continue). There will also be many natural disasters involving earthquakes, mud slides, avalanches and flooding. Each one of us will feel the rumblings of change within. The Year of the Water Dragon, (beginning on January 23, 2012) will provide many opportunities for personal and global transformation.

Tiger: Career and money luck bounce up and down. You may experience lots of pressure this year. It’s wise to avoid getting involved in other’s problems. This is an excellent year to take personal interest or job related courses. Avoid risky behavior as you are impacted by the accident star. Rabbit: This is a great year to travel with work / studies or for pursuing personal interest courses or job related studies near home. Both career and finances hold positive opportunities and obstacles that must be overcome. Take care of your health as you are impacted by the illness star.

Remember, we cannot control universal events but how the final outcome impacts us is always dependent upon our attitude and personal energy. May the Year of the Dragon be auspicious for one and all. Pig: Compared to last year, this year is far better in every area. There are good career prospects and opportunities for promotion. You are quite healthy; any health concerns

“I have had an ongoing problem with constipation for years and although fiber supplements can help, I’d like to try other natural ways to help myself. What do you suggest?” L.B., Edmonton

by Kristin Fraser Registered Holistic Nutritionist Chronic constipation is not something you want to take lightly. When insufficient elimination occurs over an extended period of time toxic wastes can build up in your small and large intestines. Symptoms start with the obvious pain or discomfort but can lead to secondary symptoms such as malabsorption of nutrients, headaches, irritability, lower back pain, skin outbreaks and even allergies. It’s important to understand, first, the causes. Predominantly, constipation is caused by a diet excessively high in animal proteins, not enough fiber, inadequate hydration and stress. In order to stimulate bowel activity start simply by adding more fiber to your diet by eating raw fruits and vegetables or taking a fiber supplement as prescribed by your health practitioner. by Tammie Quick Doctor of Homeopathy and Heilkunst Constipation can be complex and requires thorough investigation. It could be part of your ‘constitution’ so by giving the appropriate constitutional remedy, you may find relief of your bowel troubles and other issues. A Nux-vomica constitution for example, is the typical ‘Type A’ personality who hates being stuck in lines or traffic, is competitive and likes stimulants such as coffee or alcohol. Constipation manifests with an urge to pass stool, but an inability to, or small amounts are passed only and there is a constant sensation of never feeling done. However if the constipation began at a certain point in your life (after you were bullied as a teen, for instance) then it is by Lauren Slade Online Health & Reflexology Expert Embarrassing as it may be, we have all suffered from constipation at one time in our life or another. Constipation is the most common digestive complaint in North America, and can make life miserable. Not only does constipation make you feel bloated, headachy, and irritable, it can become compounded by hemorrhoids that form due to straining if not dealt with promptly. A healthy colon’s transit time should be between 16 and 20 hours from eating to elimination.

Supplementing with a probiotic will increase the good intestinal bacteria in your gut and of course, drink lots of water. Perhaps one of the more effective ways to clean the bowels is to increase the fasting time between supper and breakfast. It allows the bowels a chance to purge excess waste. Also give the bowels an extra boost by drinking herbal teas such as licorice or chamomile, which have a laxative effect. Before trying any methods of cleansing or supplementation be sure to see your natural health practitioner for diagnosis and guidance. part of a trauma that would need to be treated before you could experience a whole cure. Fear often leads to chronic constipation and though you can take remedies for the symptoms, the problem may return again and again, until that fear state has been dealt with. As a Heilkunst physician, I would also want to assess your lifestyle habits and offer corrections according to your blood and glandular types to keep your bowels functioning properly and eliminate your need for herbal laxatives. system. Reflexology not only helps to relieve stress and tension, but it will relax all the muscles in the body, resulting in a “moving” experience. Constipation can be relieved with reflexology. Your reflexologist will stimulate reflexes to the following areas - large colon, small intestines, liver, gall bladder carefully following the natural flow of the digestive system, plus diaphragm, adrenal and lower spine reflexes to help the body relax and let go. The bowel loosening effect might not happen right away, but it is usually felt the day after your Reflexology session.

Reflexology relaxes the entire body, and it is especially effective for cases of constipation related to stress or tension. The bowel is a muscle and is closely related to the nervous

Homeopathy and weight loss? Up until now homeopathy (like most medical practices) offered limited success with weight loss. But today, thanks to the principles of homeopathy, the HCG weight loss protocol (as described in Kevin Trudeau’s book: The Weight Loss Cure They Don’t Want You to Know About, Alliance Publishing Group, 2007) has been made available to everyone, even folks who are afraid of needles! Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homeopathy, found a safe way to use virtually any substance in a therapeutic way, without causing any harm to the physical body. He determined that by diluting a substance and shaking it, you could create the ‘perfect’ dose. And now these same principles have been applied to the HCG weight loss protocol! HCG, or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is often called the pregnancy hormone (but rest assured HCG weight loss is for men as well as women!) One of the major jobs of HCG during pregnancy is to immobilize stored fat in the body in case there is a food shortage. Mother Nature always has a plan, so if there is a drought the HCG will ensure that a developing fetus will feed off of its mother’s fat stores. How does this apply to someone who needs to lose weight? Taking the HCG and following a very low calorie diet tricks the body into thinking that it is pregnant and there isn’t enough food. This ensures rapid, safe weight loss where only the stored fat is lost (not structural fat or muscle), and the individual on the program does not suffer the usual hardships involved with dieting. In the past, doing the HCG protocol meant daily injections of HCG, but today there are homeopathic drops available, which are just as effective and are taken by mouth.

enjoy a weight loss of close to one pound each day. Yes, you read that correctly! People who do the HCG weight loss protocol often lose nearly 30 pounds in 30 days. And they look great! That’s because they actually lose stored fat, not the fat that holds up their skin and organs. Plus, it can actually re-build a metabolism and re-shape your body.

Butterfly Garden © Monika Dery — www.onceinabluemoon.ca

by Tammie Quick DMH, DHHP

As a doctor of Homeopathy and Heilkunst, I almost never recommend that people begin the HCG protocol without beginning Heilkunst treatment at my clinic first. This is because excess weight is a very complex issue and if you lose the weight quickly, without figuring out why you gained it in the first place, you can gain it back despite what Kevin Trudeau has claimed in his book. Heilkunst will remove the underlying disease states that have set an individual up to gain weight and to make unhealthy lifestyle choices. Plus, it teaches principled lifestyle choices for health and longevity.

When my patients are ready for the HCG protocol, my clinic offers a unique approach that includes Homeopathic HCG, a consultation that teaches the ‘HCG Weight Loss Protocol’ and how to get ready, 24/7 support, and some additional homeopathic formulas custom designed to help each individual succeed. When you’re ready to heal your weight issues, Homeopathic HCG and Heilkunst are ready to help. For more information on Heilkunst, Homeopathy or the HCG approach to weight loss, please visit Tammie’s website at www.quickhealth.ca or call 780-221-6127. Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It is intended to supplement your current health program, not to replace the care of a licensed medical doctor.

Now if I’ve made this weight loss protocol sound easy, let me correct that! This program is not for everyone. And it is definitely something that you have to be ready for, as it does involve severe restriction of food choices. But with the HCG on board, people are not hungry, light headed or grouchy like they are with typical calorie restricted programs. Plus, participants aren’t forced to exercise (though it is recommended as part of a healthy lifestyle!) in order to

The importance of breast health “Always take care of your breasts, dear. Don’t ignore them like I did,” said a gentle 76-year-old nun from rural Alberta who was receiving radiation treatment for breast cancer. I was a 22-year-old hospital employee when this Sister shared these impactful words of wisdom. As the years went on I wondered, other than breast selfexaminations and regular physician assessments, what else could I do to care for my breasts? It was not until I had been practicing massage for almost a decade that I discovered breast massage and its benefits. In North America prior to the 1980’s, breast massage was not a part of the curriculum in massage schools. It is currently still not covered in depth and often does not contain a hands-on practical component. Since the explosion of massage into the mainstream over the past two decades, the profession in Canada and the States has maintained a conservative approach to breast massage. This is likely a result of the historical stigma attached to massage by the massage parlor industry. This is not the same in Europe where it is considered just another part of a therapeutic massage treatment. Massage therapists in Alberta require specialized training to provide this particular care for their clients. Relieving pain, decreasing congestion and alleviating adhesions are the primary benefits of having a breast massage. The following conditions are indications for a treatment: breast pain, breast tenderness, PMS symptoms, fibrocystic breasts, discomfort during pregnancy, engorgement during weaning, menopausal tenderness, trauma to the chest such as a seatbelt injury or sports injury, post-surgical symptoms from biopsies, breast reductions or enlargement, mastectomy scars, a desire for inclusiveness during a full body massage, fostering a positive self-image and acceptance of one’s breasts and femininity.

Open two-way communication is crucial when determining if breasts should be included in a treatment protocol. Before a woman receives breast massage she needs to know: what the indications for treatment are, what a treatment entails, establish boundaries regarding her comfort and all of her questions must be answered so that she may give an informed consent to treatment. Even when consent is given she is entitled to withdraw consent at any time for any reason. A breast massage treatment would commence after a thorough back massage (then proceeding to a massage of the chest muscles). During this process it is important for the client and her muscles to be relaxed as tight muscles can restrict lymphatic drainage from the breasts. by Sheryl Watson, R.M.T.

Respect for personal comfort includes appropriate draping of the client. Various options are discussed during the initial interview process. These draping options include: having both breasts undraped to the waist at the same time, having one breast undraped at a time, or alternatively, much work can be done over top of the sheet if the client is not comfortable with being undraped. Gentle massage technique movements will avoid touching the nipple area.

Over the years I’ve come to understand, both personally and professionally, the importance of breast health. I have learned that breast massage and breast self-massage play a complimentary role in maintaining breast health for myself, as well as dietary changes, alkaline water, regular Kundalini yoga classes (particularly beneficial for breast health), far infrared sauna treatments, dry skin brushing and regular physician assessments. I am grateful for the wisdom that Sister shared with me many years ago. To discuss your treatment goals and options please contact Sheryl Watson, RMT, at Sacred Diva Healing Centre, 780-488-3482. Breast circulation is compromised by tight muscles in the surrounding area, poor posture, lack of physical activity, a high fat diet and tight clothing that compress the breast against the chest wall preventing the flow of lymphatic fluid through the retromammary space. Breast massage can restore healthy circulation and proper tissue mobility.

Re-inventing the wheel ~ East An old woman steps gently over the quickening soil, a sense of excitement is in the air… Spring is here. She is sifting through the seeds she gathered this past season of winter. With her well-trained eye she places a few in the leather bag attached to her belt; touching it lovingly she smiles. Her mind moves ahead to the moment of germination, considering the dreams that exist in each one. On the next full moon she will plant, giving them to the Mother Earth so the magic of their transformation may unfold, as the coming light awakens their form. Keeping to the task at hand she walks deep into the forest to the ancient cedar tree. Placing an offering of tobacco at its trunk, she lays the seeds that did not make it into her leather bag; ones she recognized are no longer sustainable. She begins to pray... “Great Spirit, Sacred Tree, I give to you these seeds, these parts of myself that do not serve my highest good. They are elements of my journey that I am choosing to lay aside: fears, pains and conflicts I have named and healed. I thank you for the teachings each one has brought me, even those whose lessons were most difficult. I pray that they may return to the cycle of life, becoming the food that feeds your roots, the force that opens your leaves and in turn the air that connects you to I, and to all of our relations.” Feeling complete, she lays silently aside of the great trunk and drifts into dreamtime.

In the East you recognize the gifts you hold that add to your sense of hope, as well as what stifles its flow. Trusting your gut, honing your power, you name what you are choosing to carry forward and what you are tired of having drag you down. In naming what has haunted you, it is carried from the darkness into the light. Each wound/issue/life experience came to you for a reason; as you lay them down, you see the teachings they brought into your life. Gratitude transforms pain into liberation, conflict into resolution, bindings into freedom. With each issue released, your capacity for hope amplifies. You know you will plant within your heart the seeds that bear the fruit of your life experience. East is synonymous with spring and mornings light… As you open to the first rays of dawn you celebrate who you are. Recognizing the past is what feeds your roots, adds strength to your limbs. You honor the unique ray you add to the light of creation. Invoking wonderment and awe within your heart so their music is the foundation of your song, each note adding to the symphony of life. You are actively illuminating your soul. Women of Oaxaca © Irene Klar — www.ireneklar.com

You are moving from the mystery of the void, otherwise known as winter into spring. The teachings of winter have brought you into the darkest recesses of your soul. It has been a time of reckoning, as issues residing within this space called forth your attention. They showed up on those days you felt stuck, depressed, in conflict or despair. As the cycles shift into spring and the light returns, your perspective of yourself changes. You feel hope. This vital force fuels your ability to create and grow along with the earth around you. It inspires you to move forward regardless of circumstance. ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

See clearly without glasses or surgery How often have you heard someone say they are unable to see a situation clearly? It can often turn out to be a literal statement. Most of us are fitted with our first pair of glasses six months to one year after some stressful event. Stop and think back - when did you receive your first glasses? What was happening for you at that time? Our nervous system, under stress, can result in blurred vision. Blurred vision is a temporary intolerance or sensitivity to having light converge directly on the retina because, at the time, it’s too much for our nervous system to process. However, our society (being externally focused on objects rather than on the clarity of our feelings from within), has us fix the blur with prescription glasses. What this does is lock our neurological system in that state of stress. Our mind is tricked into believing it sees clearly, even though the neurological stress has not been alleviated. Over time, it begins to feel normal. If however, we addressed our stress and gave ourselves time to readjust, our eyes would adjust as well. Clear vision can be achieved without glasses or surgery. Thousands of people around the world have permanently discarded their glasses. The principles of Natural Vision are simple really but the process does require commitment, time and care. It’s not an instant fix but a process of healing. How does it work? Clear vision is a natural unconscious process. It’s also a dynamic process that varies with levels of stress, illness and energy levels. Our vision is not static. You see, the retina of the eye (the back of the eye where light rays are meant to converge for a clear image) is a part of the Central Nervous System. The retina is packed with neurons and processes a lot of information before it is sent to the brain. If we are under stress, our body and mind mediates the amount of information we take in.

break from work. She removed her glasses, and while gazing out the window, experienced an internal shift of peacefulness and relief/liberation. However, she said she could also sense internal feelings that had the potential to overwhelm her - feelings that seemed to stop when she put her glasses back on. She noticed that her glasses were like an emotional buffer. When she put them back on, she knew she ‘meant business’ and felt an internal pressure to be more productive, effective and serious. I told her that her awareness is the beginning of a return to clarity and I could fully relate. When I wore glasses I’d receive up to five speeding tickets a year and each winter I’d slide into at least one bumper. Since driving without glasses three years ago (after using these methods to improve my eyesight) and the internal shift within myself that accompanied their removal, I’ve only had one ticket (in an obscure country school zone) and have not slid into any bumpers. On a neurological level, I am running slower being more deliberate and I feel far more able to navigate interpersonal ‘bumpers’ (boundaries with people). For me, each reduced prescription has come with added relief, inner clarity and joy. Horsing Around © Catherine Marchard — www.4hisglorycreations.com

Stress affects our vision and glasses change the way we handle stress neurologically. After many years of wearing glasses, we develop detrimental seeing habits and neurological patterns that need unlearning. Unlearning these patterns is where Natural Vision Specialists come in. Natural Healing “I was in a long term relationship that has now ended and I’m having a hard time moving on. My heart is raw and I just want to feel ‘whole’ again. What can I do to help myself?” M.V., Edmonton

by Jackie Pearce Wholistic Practitioner

by Melissa Robak Crystal & Gem Store Owner

You will need to work with all of your chakras in order to feel whole. However your heart and sacral chakra are the two that stand out as needing the most balancing.

Moving on from a long term relationship is much like losing a loved one; it must be mourned before you can move on. You invested part of you in your relationship, and will not feel ‘whole’ again until you regain your personal identity.

Begin with a breathing meditation: start in your heart and breathe in an emerald green flame. Allow this flame to consume all of your hurt and feelings that are unhelpful. Imagine the flame getting larger and larger until all that is left is the emerald flame. You can keep this flame as large as you like, or reduce it to a spark that resides in your heart. It is to both shield you from despair, while giving you strength and hope. Your sacral chakra will benefit from being infused with a very soft, peachy orange. This chakra is where our sexuality and our feelings of confidence often reside. The softer tone of orange will help you to heal and feel whole in a gentle and safe way, eliminating harsh feelings and self doubts. Eating orange foods will help to stimulate this healing process for you and allow you to experience a deeper connection to your inner and outer environment. May your journey be full of light and guided by inner wisdom. I would recommend a ‘grief package’ which consists of four stones: black onyx, apache tear, smoky quartz and clear quartz. Begin with the darkest stone and slowly transition to the lighter colored stones as you gravitate to them. For some people this takes weeks, others much longer, so give it time. This grief package can be used for other purposes as well job loss, a family member’s passing and more. Keep it for anytime you are feeling overwhelmed by the world around you. To get to know yourself again, I would recommend rose quartz, the stone of unconditional love, banded agate for self discovery, citrine for optimism, red jasper for strength, and amber for stress reduction. When you hold the stones, use this mantra: “I love myself. Everyday I get to know myself better. I can take on whatever the world has to show me. I am strong.” Repeat it until you believe it! by Laurie Szott-Rogers Certified Aromatherapist & Flower Essence Practitioner The Aromatic Approach: The rose flower is the color of the heart and may be used to gently shift grief to softness. Apply the essential oil of rose on to the heart and treat yourself with the delicacy and respect you would give a rose. Oil of bergamot is uplifting and helps evoke feelings of playfulness. Oils of the forest such as fir and spruce suggest a mood of freedom, like a walk in the woods might create. Finding a scent you like is important. Find a store that sells essential oils and smell them, to determine which aromas give you joy. (Do not take essential oils internally.) The Flower Essence Approach: Flower essences are different than essential oils. They have no scent and are much more dilute and unlike essential oils may be used internally. Love-LiesBleeding is an essence to help release grief associated with loss. Bleeding Heart will help heal a broken heart. Borage brings up the courage to move forward. Use flower essences internally, three times a day, for at least 28 days to release old patterns. Journal and use self-awareness to deeply understand the lessons you have learned. Healing with purple, magenta and scarlet Purple. Magenta. Scarlet. These are the three colours that make up the Circulatory/ Emotional/Reproductive (C/E/R) colours of the wheel in the Dinshah method of Colour Healing. These colours contain the most intensity for passion, desires and nurturing life force energy of all the colours in the wheel - and rightly so, as they govern our emotions, reproductive organs and the flow of our blood. Purple and scarlet flank magenta; one is stimulating and the other relaxing, while magenta offers balance. This makes these colours even more unique as they are almost complete opposites, while still serving a common purpose! If we take a closer look at PURPLE, we will see how it has the same calming aspects of blue and indigo, while still having a more expressive nature due to the influence of magenta and scarlet. Purple, much like its neighbour, indigo, has relaxing qualities. It eases pain and discomfort while reducing swelling and inflammation. Where purple gets very interesting is in its interaction with the circulation in the body and the hormonal systems as well. Purple will calm high blood pressure and over active glands. For me it is almost like there is one layer of purple which is subdued, but also another layer that is coursing with energy to provide strength and vitality.

guide for me where no one else could be. I started to feel safe and happy again, and my emotions began to balance. Through months of working almost exclusively with Magenta, I became aware of how colours work on levels, not just a level, or for one thing, but are multi sensory, and multi dimensional - they can teach us and heal us on all levels, be that spiritual, emotional, mental or physical. SCARLET is such a passionate colour. It can provide the spark to get the hormones in the body active if they are sluggish. On an energetic level scarlet is like the rose bud that will one day bloom into a gorgeous, lush rose. It has this calm understated energy that just encourages you to keep going, to move on, open up emotionally and to wake up to the world outside your door! Usually only small amounts of scarlet are necessary as the energy is intense and colours in the redder hues are quick to work (eg: how passion is quick to boil!) The ability of a colour to aide us is not diminished over time, but rather enhanced. When deep healing is needed, we often will need the same colour for numerous days, sessions, weeks and sometimes months. However, it is important to balance the colours out, which a Certified Colour Therapist can assist you with.

Much as a mother will tend to her young until they are ready to leap into the world alone, colours are always here to guide us along our journey however short or long it may be. MAGENTA is probably one of my favourite colours on the wheel. This may be due to the fact that when I was first introduced to Colour Therapy, magenta was the colour that I tested for. I was going through the end of a very unhealthy relationship that was over ripe to be finished. Magenta, above all others, helped me through the journey, providing the emotional balance that had been missing from my life for such a long time. Magenta was a ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

Winds of change are here to stay by Kimberlay Kiernan Certified Reconnective Healing® Practitioner It’s a new world today. 2012 is a year of change, a ‘5’ in numerological terms. It will be easier this year to create, to get out of drama or fear, to cast aside what no longer serves us, to heal, balance and transform ourselves.

Iris Pattern © Karen Bishop

Gentle breezes of change (in almost every area of life) have been tickling our ankles for years, for those of us paying attention. In the past two or three years, they have transitioned into gusts of wind swirling around our knees.

We are in a NEW time and ‘normal’ has not yet been established. Indeed, even our weather has been abnormal, atypical and unexpected. And there has been a less than subtle change in the level of consciousness of a large segment of the population, all over the world. Researchers, scholars and channelers recognize it and can prove it through experiments and actual energy readings. This rise in consciousness is also evidenced by the rise of different types of information now so easily available (especially on the internet) - offerings of courses, programs and webinars about spiritual self development, the coming financial / political / ecological crises, and the revealing of ‘secret’ and ‘hidden’ programs, actions, processes. Political action, unheard of just a year or two ago, has drawn us to look at our world in a different light.

start claiming. As the consciousness of the human race rises, we recognize that it is not ‘they’ who are in control of every aspect of our lives, but ‘we’. We are consciously coming face to face with CHOICE, true freedom. One decision can change your life and when your life changes, your world changes. As we step forward and reclaim our freedom and our right to choose our own path, we can choose to continue on the road of expecting someone else to ‘heal’ us, cure us or make us better or we can start to search for ways we can heal ourselves. As we become more personally responsible for our health, we can explore alternative health care choices to help keep us truly ‘healthy’. There are so many therapeutic approaches available now to help us. I know that the ones I use (Reconnective Healing®, the Reconnection®, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Parts Therapy and Life Coaching) for example, applied in a selective and coordinated manner of one’s choosing, can open the door to the most amazing transformations. The winds of change are bringing empowerment, responsibility and authority back to us. We can choose to regain the opportunity to heal and transform outside the medical system with its pharmaceuticals, tests and waiting lists or continue to use the system but also participate in different holistic therapies that have the potential to heal us from the inside out. When we take control of the way we take care of our health, we resume control of our own well-being. It’s a new year, and a new age, and it is finally here, NOW. Board the shuttle. Claim your power. Change your world. Choose wisely, choose well. Predictions of potential gloom and doom around the Mayan Calendar (and its designation of December 21, 2012 as the end of the world ‘as we know it’) are fading. Scholars and Shaman both recognize the predictions as heralding a change in consciousness that is sweeping the world, as planet Earth responds to the rebirthing she is engaged in. Much of what we have been taught to believe is no longer ‘truth’ and a greater, expanded, healthier, more abundant future is here for the receiving. We can stop blaming and

Let go of stress with Biofeedback by Norma Hope Certified Biofeedback Practitioner You truly don’t know how stressed you are until you’re NOT! Feeling a sense of sweet peace inside and a quiet calmness is how we are meant to go through life, not stressed and scattered with so many ‘shoulds’ on our mind. Maybe you are like I used to be, and have never known or felt a real deep sense of calm inside, so you don’t know what you have been missing. When I was an insurance adjuster years ago, I didn’t know I was missing out on most of ‘me’ in my busy, doing, doing, doing life. It was crazy how I used to stand at my desk to work for years because of low back pain (sitting caused pain). I never thought of quitting which is what my body was screaming at me to do. Needless to say I crashed as I wouldn’t STOP. If I only had known then what I know now - that Biofeedback could have easily helped me reduce stress, be more present, minimized or resolved my back pain and so much more. Although it is called EPR Biofeedback Stress Management and Muscle Re-education, it is SO much more. It was used daily on the athletes at the Olympics to balance their stress both physically and emotionally, plus tone their muscles, their ‘attitudes’ and alleviate pain.

A biofeedback session involves you relaxing in a reclining chair, with comfortable sensor bands on your forehead, wrists and ankles connecting you to a computer which is sending the needed frequencies to your whole being via those bands. It reads the stress reactivity on an individual basis and then does the balancing work. You just relax. Biofeedback identifies where the stress reactivity is happening on all levels inside (emotional, physical, mental or spiritual) on an individual basis. It uses the 16 electrical factors of the body to send up to 11,000 different frequency signatures to all levels of our being and then uses the same factors to send balancing frequencies, plus trains the body to handle stress differently when it occurs. Biofeedback is quantum technology. It balances what is up for you, plus what is happening stress-wise underneath that is cellular or at a quantum level. Each one of us has stress of some kind. It has many forms - your job, relationships, raising children, physical challenges like pain, family illness, grief or emotional triggers from the past (such as not feeling good enough, perfectionism, anger, anxiety, depression, fear, indecision, impatience, worry, inadequacy and many more.) All these stress reactions can be balanced. Stress deeply affects our whole being. It accumulates inside. It piles up quietly for a while, then the body starts talking back or screaming by giving you a signal or a symptom or two to get your attention (like the back pain

Technically, Biofeedback works through 16 electrical factors of the body, calculates combined impedance, amperage

and voltage, capacitance, inductance and resistance (called the Xxroid process). The body is indeed electric therefore reactivity (stressors) are measured on the skin, without your feeling uncomfortable or pained in any way.

I had.) Stress can also be the underlying cause for tightness anywhere in the body, adrenal fatigue, lack of energy, chronic tiredness, pain or increased pain, headaches, weakened immunity such as colds or flu, circulation problems, lack of breathing and so much more. Claudine is a 47-year-old woman who has been a client of mine for six years now. She says about Biofeedback: “I’m not sure how it works but whenever there is something up for me it works to eliminate it very well - be it emotional or physical stress. I call it ‘magic’ to friends and coworkers! I had abdominal pain a few months ago and Biofeedback resolved it, plus made me aware the pain was caused by stress. Then, about a month ago, I suffered for two weeks from chronic aching in both knees. I was frustrated and at my wits end. I reached Norma through Facebook and did Biofeedback. I didn’t notice a change during the virtual session but that evening when I went to bed I realized the pain was totally gone and it hasn’t come back at all.” Because she was so impressed with the results, Claudine also brought her 12-year-old son, Ezio, for Biofeedback. She said: “There’s nothing worse than seeing your child in pain. Biofeedback helped my son totally resolve severe abdominal pain due to constipation and to understand how his body was sending him messages about how his diet was really hurting him. Hearing it from Norma and seeing the stress information report that Biofeedback produces really hit home like nothing I, as his mother, could ever have said to him! After the session, I overheard him telling a friend that eating meat and potatoes together may not be a good thing and he was going to start eating more veggies cause that pain was nasty. Thank you Norma!”

parents slept in. They decided to make ‘toy car soup’. They put toy cars in a plastic pail. Jonathan now remembers climbing on and off the kitchen counter, putting the pail on the element and turning it on like his sister told him to do. He then went off to play. The result was a terrible fire that was very traumatic for everyone. Jonathan still does Biofeedback once a month. He likes the idea of regular maintenance instead of stress piling up. He feels so different now - no mind chatter and he has a calmness about him that wasn’t there before. Anxiety isn’t running his life anymore. Biofeedback Therapy also does muscle re-education, pain relief plus programs on other levels in addition to stress reduction such as: stimulate creativity, dissipate karma, stimulate emotional growth, stimulate lucid dreaming, stimulate memory, stimulate insight, higher purpose alignment, balance spiritual oppression and at least 850 more screens to choose from. Biofeedback really ‘fits’ with the other therapies I’ve also done with clients like Claudine, Jonathan and others for years. It will identify what is happening inside and what you need. And who wouldn’t want to feel that sweet calmness more often. I am also a Certified Colon Hydrotherapist so I know that physically it is chronic stress felt inside that causes challenges in the digestive system such as constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, indigestion or even pain in the abdomen area. It is the body screaming for you to STOP pay attention. Recent medical studies clearly name stress as being the underlying cause of 97% of all diseases or illness. Biofeedback balances stress in any form, emotionally or physically. It educates - it doesn’t judge. Awareness makes us winners. For me it feels like a friend I can count on to have my back when I get a little crazy emotionally or physically or to help me name what’s up for me and then gets me ‘back to me’. Another client, Jonathan, is a 28-year-old man. He has been a colon hydrotherapy client for five years, doing regular maintenance for his health. It was ongoing anxiety which mainly caused his colon difficulties, on and off. The Biofeedback session, however, identified a trauma at threeyears-old involving mom, dad and the self. The Biofeedback Therapy frequencies did balance the ‘trauma at three-years-old’ for Jonathan without knowing what the ‘trauma at three-years-old’ was. He emailed several days later though saying his mom told him what happened as he had blocked it out. His mom said his sister (five-years-old) and himself (threeyears-old) got up early on a Saturday morning as their ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

“I live in a main-floor condo and have anxiety in my home when I hear loud noises from the renters who live in a condo above me (they party late, stomp around, play bass music). I have difficulty relaxing, sleeping and experience stress, panic and nightmares. I can see a pattern in the type of renters that the unit attracts. I’ve tried twice to sell over the years. Is it for my highest good to sell and if so why am I so hesitant to take action and step away from this chaos when all I pray for is peace? What can I do help me sleep and feel some peace during this?” J.D., Edmonton

by Noelle Parenteau Psychic Medium “When one is subjected to external chaos one needs to go within and find the pattern or past event that is being stimulated by this present time situation. We’d like to remind you that when you were about seven or eight years old, you experienced a situation that affected you greatly. This caused you much distress. Part of you felt trapped and part of you left - energetically. Now, as an adult you know it is only ‘noise’ and nothing harmful, but your inner child immediately reacts to this stimulation and reexperiences the initial event that is connected to this present one. We suggest this is a good place to start, as this is being brought to your attention in order to heal it once and for all, so you no longer feel threatened or stressed being in your own home. If you choose to sell and move, you may find yourself in another similar situation, so healing is best. These old wounds can follow one for a very long time, but eventually they do need to be acknowledged and released. Traumatic experiences amplify as time goes on and so the call for healing arrives. Find your Peace within!” Noelle offers soul-directed, channeled messages and has a Ph.D. in Metaphysics from the University of Metaphysical Sciences. It is time that you let go of this chaos and fear; this hurts you. It’s time to rely on yourself, your true self, your love instead of your fear. You seek the peace within but give into the anger and frustration. Once you release this vision, calm will be yours to keep. You must first calm down dear one and focus on peace. ‘See’ what this ‘peace’ is for you and allow it to live in you and from you. Focus your intent on what you really want from this. Try a sweet and long Uttanasana by Ivy Stevenson Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher All too often I notice myself and many others with overly active left hemispheres, swimming down the fastest current in the river of life. Perpetually we over commit ourselves, over work ourselves, under rest and under play, and say ‘yes’ just a few too many times. The present moment seems to merely be a stepping stone we hurry over as we grasp for the next moment, chore or project. But I’m changing that. I’m stilling myself more often so I can appreciate every moment of my life, even the moments ‘in between’. In yoga, there are certain yoga asanas or postures that are used to gracefully weave together a sequence of poses. And just as areas of our lives can become habitual, rushed and desensitized, so can the seemingly ‘in-between’ steps of flowing yoga. Uttanasana (Standing Forward Bend) is a posture that gracefully transitions our bodies to and from all types of poses in a yoga sequence. However, in its simplicity and in our haste, we sometimes ‘just go through the motions’ to get to the next pose. But if we slow down and bring our full presence and awareness into the ‘in-betweens’ of yoga, and therefore also of life, we find that there are wonderful gifts offered there.

incredibly beneficial when weaved into our lives off of our yoga mats. I personally engage in a sweet and long Uttanasana when I feel anxious or overwhelmed, have indigestion or experience tightness in my lower back. Requiring no props and looking pretty normal (in case you’re in public), means this pose is extremely rewarding. Stand with your feet hip distance apart and your second toes pointing forward. Push into the ground below you with the four corners of each foot and notice that you feel rooted deeper into Mother Earth. Inhale and grow taller and on your exhale bend your knees slightly and hinge at the waist as you fold forward. Here, in Uttanasana, you may bring your hands to the floor for support or wrap your arms behind your legs for a deeper stretch. My favorite way to experience this forward fold is to clasp opposite elbows with my hands and let my upper body simply drape and sway side to side as my head hangs like a ripe piece of fruit on a tree. However your soothing Uttanasana takes form, take a long moment to fully embody this pose. Bring your awareness to all of ‘your Self’, right here and right now. Even though all things in life are fleeting, being present in the current moment is the fullest way to experience and cocreate our life. As Corita Kent offers: “Love the moment and the energy of that moment will spread beyond all boundaries.” Ivy is a Certified Pre-Natal, Post-Natal and Hatha Yoga Teacher. She recently completed Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Gaiatri Yoga while journeying through Peru. You can reach her at ahimsajournal@gmail.com Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It is intended to supplement your current health program, not to replace the care of a licensed medical doctor.

Physically, your feet, knees and thighs are strengthened while your hamstrings and calves are stretched and hips and groins are open. This forward fold also improves the functioning of the reproductive and digestive systems and stimulates your liver and kidneys. As well, this pose alleviates menopausal and sinus discomfort and relieves fatigue, headaches and insomnia. When practicing this pose your nervous system is soothed and therefore Uttanasana will also have positive effects on stress, anxiety and depression. Of course, this pose is not limited to when you find yourself on a yoga mat. A standing forward bend is

An ancient Lemurian toning ceremony ~ Kryon, November 2010

by Dr. Todd Ovokaitys At the level of quantum understanding, everything in the universe is simply waves and vibrations. The production of particular tones and overtones can tap directly into a deeper level of quantum reality. The deep, peaceful states produced with Tibetan chants or the mantras of mediation show the power to relax and recharge the body with sound. In 2001, I began the process of remembering an ancient, sacred practice of toning that activated the pineal gland and created profoundly expansive experiences and mental stillness. I intuitively knew the tones’ power and their intrinsic benefit and impact on life extension, enhanced well being and increased health. Unaware of any higher purpose for the tones, I called it The Pineal Toning Technique™ and began to teach them for personal growth and healing. According to Kryon (an angelic entity channeled by Lee Carroll) I am the only human on the planet with these multi-dimensional tones. In 2003, Kryon identified me as Yawee, a Lemurian high priest and the choir master who developed the pineal tones and led an ancient choir in their annual ceremonial ritual. Kryon continued to reveal the bigger picture - my Pineal Toning Technique™ is actually modeled after an ancient Lemurian system that used these vibratory resonances to produce a deeply peaceful and centered state of being. This allowed the activation of the pineal gland and the intrinsic ability of the body to heal and rejuvenate while opening the inner perceptual pathways to enhance intuition.

Kryon then spoke directly to me saying: “I wish to take you back in time… 30,000 years to Lemuria... I take you into a stadium, Yawee. It is filled with almost 800 people. Four hundred are on one side facing the 400 on the other side. You are in the middle, and they are singing pairs of pineal tones, creating quantum magic.” This was the genesis of my sacred assignment to assemble a ‘pineal choir’ of several hundred people from all over the world, to sing the tones in pairs and activate their pineal transmitters, at a specific time for a sacred purpose. I named it ‘The Lemurian Choir Project’ and vowed to offer as many seminars as possible to reach as many people as I can before the final performance in December, 2012.

Air © Janice Blaine — www.paintersblock.com

“Duplicate the ritual that was done 26,000 years ago and create a 'pineal choir'... The old souls who remember this ritual will be there. Collect them from all over the planet. It will be a celebration like no other.”

I went back to teaching the tones just as I had been for the past decade. But I added something very special to the program - the sacred energy of the intention of this higher purpose and the invitation to all of the old souls that are called to be there.

I invite you to join me and experience this immersion in personally transformative tonal vibrations that can send intensified waves of healing throughout the entire global energetic grid system. The Lemurian Choir project is building to the ultimate re-creation of an ancient method of choiring, lost in antiquity. On December 21, 2012 in Maui, Hawaii, we will gather to transmit vocal harmonics through time and space, sending a message unsung for 26,000 years... We remember and we thank you. For more information go to www.lemurainchoir.com

In November 2010, it became clear why the Pineal Tones™ came with such familiarity to me when Kryon said to my class: “This is not the first time you have sat in front of Yawee to learn the tones. For some of you there is a remembrance... You’ve sat at his feet before...it rings in your DNA and you know it. More than sounds… they make colors when you tone. It is actually the light you make that makes the difference. Light is quantum.”

Awareness, acknowledgement, acceptance by Dr. Robin Browne Doctor of Chiropractic As we enter a new year, I’d like to share with you some simple ideas that you can use to enhance any healing abilities. I use these ideas daily in my practice and the patients who apply them double the benefit of their treatments. The first conscious skill you need to activate healing is AWARENESS. When you feel stiffness, pain or a symptom, you will tend to focus on the symptom. What you focus on, you get more of. Any symptom is a message from your body to stop, take account and change your behavior (especially the behavior creating the symptom).

to ease here and the pain lessened.” Your ability to observe changes in your body state as they occur and name them activates your body’s ability to self-recognize and self-repair. Healing mechanisms are closely related to mechanisms of learning, growth and personal evolution. Your body doesn’t need to be fixed. The parts of you that are suffering need your awareness, acknowledgement and finally your ACCEPTANCE, the third conscious healing skill.

Ninety percent of our brain’s activity involves organizing our body movement and functions from one moment to the next. Because the brain is focused on movement it’s good to be aware of both ease and tension in the muscles and tissues in a painful or symptomatic part of your body. The parts of you that feel at ease are inherently perfect or well organized and healthy. You need to become aware of how ease feels because when you heal, you will observe the tension areas of your body move towards ease. Be aware of tension but don’t focus on it (or you’ll just get more). That’s right, I’m suggesting you’re better off focusing on ease, focusing on the part of you already connected and whole. The second conscious skill is ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. In life we’re all so busy trying to have a better experience or get out of a difficult one. We’ve lost touch with the ability to name what state you are in. The silliness of it is, why reinvent a skill or healing resource or look around outside of yourself, if you already have the wisdom within you. If you could say: “I’m angry,” when that’s what you feel (and you don’t mean all the time, you mean in this moment), you will help your body self-recognize. It’s important to name what you feel without interpreting it - thoughts are substitutes for awareness. Simply name what you feel in the area like: hot, cold, tight, sore, buzzing, flowing, etc.

© Chris Riley — www.rileyart.com

Basically, pain is a signal/symptom from your body to stop what you’re doing (behavior or focus), pay attention (awareness) and change your behavior (focus on movement).

Attempting to fix yourself often puts the body in defense and is a misunderstanding of what your healing needs from you. What you resist persists. Acceptance, like surrender, is a profound doorway to activating healing. You cannot heal what you cannot, or will not, feel.

Network Care is a chiropractic method using light touches at specific locations on the spine to help your brain find stored tension in your body associated with illness/trauma and release it. This process allows the healing mechanisms already there to activate and even evolve. To learn more about this state of the art wellness care please contact me. When you regularly become aware of ‘what’s there’ in your neck, shoulder, back or head and you can acknowledge the content, you are activating self healing. For example: “My neck hurts and there’s ease here and tension there. After the last treatment the tension moved ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

What is my number for 2012? There is huge emphasis today on the symbolic and almost spiritual significance of certain numbers and their relationship to our daily lives. Many people are captivated by the mystical connection between numbers or units of measurement and various aspects of our lives in general. My sense is that ‘12’ is the number you need to know as we move forward into 2012! ‘12’ is the number of publishers that rejected J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter manuscript when she was living on social assistance in the early 1990’s. Eventually it was picked up by Bloomsbury and today Rowling is worth an estimated $1 billion and the Harry Potter brand is worth an estimated $23 billion. J.K. Rowling went on to sell 450 million copies. The lesson for all of us is this - don’t give up! Be tenacious in engaging your strengths, relentless in following your passions and unyielding when you fall down! The number ‘12’ teaches us the following lessons for 2012: • Be Tenacious In Engaging Your Strengths - Discover your strengths, your unique ‘LIFEFIT’ and begin to live them! Don’t allow setbacks from your weaknesses to hold you back. Don’t let discouragements from not being as strong as you want to be, hold you back. Be tenacious in engaging your strengths. Steadfast. Resolute. Constantly feed and nourish yourself. Take time for you. There can be no doubt that breathing, accompanied by slowing down, and taking time to pause, reflect and care for self are under-utilized in our fast-paced society. When we sow gentle seeds of self-nurture, we reap the harvest of self-refreshment. Take time to breathe, to reflect, to selfnurture. Devote a tithe, 10% of your waking hours to selfcare, self-nourishment, paying attention to yourself and to developing your strengths and your LIFEFIT. To discover your LIFEFIT and grow in awareness of it, perhaps pick up this book: http://www.gettingwhereyouneedtogo.com/

Your faith box and self-mirror determine your whole life: what you think, feel, experience and do; what you create, grow, build and dream. You are thinking, feeling, experiencing and doing what your faith-box contains and what your self-mirror shows. You are creating, growing, building and dreaming what your faith-box allows and what your self-mirror permits. And all of this is tied into all of us following our passions with full engagement and relentless focus! • Be Unyielding When You Fall Down - We all fall down when we are seeking to walk, run and soar. If we are not falling, it is because we are not trying, not risking, and not stepping out. Henry Ford famously said that: “Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” When you fall down, don’t yield, resign, or surrender. Simply get back up, learn from the event, and begin again, this time with greater insight and intelligence! Remembering It All © Doris Charest

Perhaps it is time, in 2012, for you to take your skills in working with people, and acumen in engaging individuals and groups, and become a Certified Life Coach or Executive Coach. If so, please contact myself or the Certified Coaches Federation. ‘12’ is the number you need to know for 2012. Be tenacious in engaging your strengths, relentless in following your passions and unyielding when you fall down when you are living your dream! Abe Brown is a Certified Life and Business Coach and is also a Certified Master Coach Trainer. He spent several years as a counsellor and ordained minister and then transitioned into a practice of Coaching. Visit www.momentumcoaching.ca or www.certifiedcoachesfederation.com

• Be Relentless In Following Your Passions - Terri Guillemets said this: “Chase down your passion like it’s the last bus of the night. Follow your passion and success will follow you.” Resolve that 2012 will be a year of chasing your passions, rather than chasing success. When you chase success, often disappointment and bitterness is the result. When you chase your passions, success is often the result.

Shift the past with Matrix Reimprinting Have you heard the old adage: “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood?” Matrix Reimprinting is a powerful technique that combines the understandings of quantum and epigenetic science with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). It has the ability to shift your relationship to events in the past enabling emotional and physical well-being in the present. Matrix Reimprinting utilizes classic EFT tools that were founded by Gary Craig. EFT involves tapping on acupuncture points to relieve present or past emotional distress. When the emotional stress is cleared the body is free to balance itself often releasing pain, fears and disease. Karl Dawson is an EFT master and founder of Matrix Reimprinting. Through his extensive work with clients he found a key to releasing trauma when he was working with a lady who described a memory of herself as a child that was so clear that she said she could tap on her. Karl asked her to tap on the little girl in her mind and the results were astounding. The trauma that was held in the memory released and when the client was asked to recall the same memory she no longer felt any emotion or fear attached to it. Matrix Reimprinting is based on the premise that when we experience trauma, parts of us split (energetically speaking) to help us cope and these parts are held in the holographic matrix. The matrix was first described by the physicist Max Plank in 1944 as a field of energy that is interconnected to everything and provides a blueprint for our physical world. More recently it has been described in the work of Lynne McTaggart’s The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe (2008, Harper Perennial), Gregg Braden’s Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles and Belief (2006, HayHouse), and Rupert Sheldrake’s Morphic Resonance: The Nature of Formative Causation (2009, Park Press).

At times you may have found yourself reacting to a situation irrationally from a place of fear, anger or sadness as if you were a young child. As an adult you understand that your emotional reaction is not rational, but you cannot help but respond in a set way. This can be explained through the imprinting process which takes place in the uterus, at birth and during the first six years of life. At this stage humans take on the characteristics of their parents through observation and imitation creating habitual patterns and behaviours that are held in local fields. It is during this highly impressionistic time that traumas imprint easily and beliefs were thought to be set for life. Many positive beliefs are formed as well as negative patterns such as “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not lovable,” etc. These holographic cellular memories are in the past for the conscious mind, but in the present for the unconscious mind and they have an ongoing effect on a person’s health, behaviour and successes in life.

Romance © Amy Keller-Rempp

by Alice Keewatin

Matrix Reimprinting allows the identification, change and resolution of trauma in ‘The Field’ by working with the ECHOs to provide physical and emotional resources. EFT is used to release long held trauma and the information in the matrix is replaced with empowering images and beliefs which create an immediate effect that can be felt in the present.

It never is too late to have a happy childhood! Alice Keewatin is a practitioner of EFT, Matrix Reimprinting and Reconnective Healing®. You can find more information and contact Alice at www.reconnectionpurpose.com Note: This information is for educational purposes only. It is intended to supplement your current health program, not to replace the care of a licensed medical doctor.

Karl Dawson refers to these traumatic memories in the matrix as ECHOs (energy conscious holograms) and he describes them as present realities that are locked in space and time. Subconsciously these memories are current and people respond and react from these images on a daily basis.

A different perspective on spirituality by Bill McDonald As a student of the ‘ancient mysteries’ and quantum physics, which includes M-theory (also known as string theory), I have felt the need to shed some light on the role of the quantum level in the healing of the human physical body and an overview of the way the ancient mystery schools explained the process of how we evolve spiritually. I’d like to start with quantum physics and M-theory and how they might integrate into physical healing. The key word is physical. The maladies which affect the human race manifest on the physical level, which is to say the molecular (DNA, RNA and protein levels) and cellular level. The elements (such as calcium, oxygen, hydrogen and other elements which make up the molecules of the physical body and function at the quantum level) are unaffected by bacteria, viruses or cancer. The physical body’s inability to repair injuries or overcome cancers is a failure of cells and molecules, not quarks or electrons. The quarks and electrons of a professional athlete or a person dying of cancer are not different in any way.

the use of the chakra system. The study of chakras is called Laya yoga. They exist in what is called the etheric body. The etheric body has within it the chakras and the physical body. My teacher had several well known clairvoyants as observers, independent of each other, observe his scientifically controlled studies on chakras and healing. The major chakras became more activated and grew in size as did the aura, as a person evolved consciously. They can be temporarily cleaned and energized but soon revert back to their previous state without thinking and lifestyle changes. The chakras are energy transformers that provide energy through meridians to organs, tissues, glands and acupuncture points (which are micro chakras). Each major chakra acquires higher harmonics added to the base frequency (much like the octaves of the musical scale) as the chakras become more activated. A person and only that person permanently activates his/her own higher levels by their own action and thoughts over a very long period of lifetimes.

M-theory, based on one dimensional strings (open and closed) which in most versions vibrate in 10 dimensions, is a mathematical construct based on ‘untestable’ equations which are eloquent have no basis in fact.

Buddism, Hinduism and Christianity all talk about reincarnation. You probably never heard it in any church, but Christ says in two places in the book of Matthew that John the Baptist is Elijah.

These strings are said to exist in a CALABI-YAU manifold of six dimensions whose maximum total size would be much, much smaller than the head of a pin and there would be an infinite number of these unconnected manifolds.

The whole process of the evolution of consciousness is called initiation and there are five levels or steps of consciousness to master on this plane. Ascended Masters like Christ, Buddha and Krishna (and many others) have all gone through this process on their way to even higher levels.

These strings are thought to be the constructs of all the particles of the quantum world such as quarks, electrons, photons and all the force carriers. The CALABI-YAU manifolds are said to have ‘compactified’ and if they were bigger, they would destroy our universe. In other words, our universe could not exist if there were extra dimensions of any large size in conjunction with the physical or quantum levels. Strings, because of their supposed size and inability to be connected, would be very poor candidates for being information carriers of spiritual energy. The more likely candidates would be dark energy and dark matter which are claimed to make up 75% of the universe. Very little is known about them except that they are needed to make the math work. None of the many healing systems has laid claim to them yet, but you can be sure they will. So how does spirituality fit into our physical reality? Well the ancient mystery schools say that the key is through evolving to higher levels of consciousness and

30

Mosaic Magazine — Spring 2012

Having been fortunate enough to have observed a few of the lower level initiations is one reason I am prompted to relay this information. If you ever get to sit in a downpouring of Christ consciousness, you will be overwhelmed by the love and humility of this great force. Four key aspects of the process of evolution are love and compassion for all life forms, intelligent discernment and the realization that a great loving intelligence created all of this. At one of the steps of this process, a person’s kundalini energy rises from the chakra at the base of the spine to the crown chakra. This is a natural process of evolution but should only occur when the path it must take is ready. Premature rising, while unlikely even with all the different ways people try to raise it, has serious consequences and is a very dangerous thing. The kundalini might only go part way because the channel is not ready and end up in another chakra causing serious health issues and worse.

A lot of the sickness and disease on this planet has to do with suppression of unresolved emotional issues, which will persist until the person faces and resolves the thought forms connected with them. Eckhart Tolle’s teachings are a way to do just that and to take a step into a higher level of awareness. Forgiveness and non-judgment play a large role in our evolution. If you harbour ill will to ANYONE or judge anyone else’s actions or think that you are somehow better than someone else, you cannot evolve. We are all here on the same path (at different points along that path), to experience the polarities (ying and yang, energy and matter, good and evil, and others) and each person experiences what they need in order to have the opportunity to evolve. Most healing systems treat the ‘symptomology’, not the core issues and as a result issues reappear in different forms or places. The absolute (or whatever you might want to call the great being who created all of this) put us here to experience and master life on the physical plane. This is done by our choices and realizations (‘aha moments’). When a person evolves to the level to be able to function on the fifth level of consciousness they become true masters. They fully understand the purpose for physical life on this level.

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds © Bernadette McCormack — www.bernadettemccormack.com

About energy itself, prana, chi, Ki (and many other names) are used for life energy which anyone can learn to feel and manipulate. This includes the chakras and the human aura. Life energy can be used to treat symptoms and speed healing with great success. The body will try to heal itself but the process can be speeded up. Having said that, the placebo effect can also have great effects as more and more doctors are becoming aware. It has been shown scientifically to have great benefits as long as the patient has full belief in the treatment. One other reason I wrote this article has to do with empowerment. The gnostic Christians, of the time shortly after Christ’s appearance, believed that the divine spark of God was within us all. The church repressed them and Christians were led to believe that they were unworthy sinners who could only reach God through the church. We are slowly regaining our power through gnosis (knowledge). We do and can reach enlightenment only through our own actions. My teacher wrote that we should not believe everything we are told, but we should use intelligent discernment in what we believe. He included his teachings in that statement. Teachers can provide information and that is all. A student should use intelligent discernment and not relinquish their power to anyone else. If someone tells you something that you do not understand you should investigate further. If you have the will and persistence you will get the answers. I am a student like you, but also a very sceptical person. I have learned that spiritual growth takes a lot of perseverance and I hope this article will maybe give you a different perspective on spirituality. If you have any questions about what I’ve written, my email address is macwk@shaw.ca. Esoteric Explorations

OMG, another article about 2012! by Catherine Potter Astrologer and Hypnotherapist I said I wasn’t writing anymore rebuttal articles regarding dire predictions for 2012. However… I didn’t have my computer on for more than an hour during the first few days of January before the inevitable downpour of 2012 predictions came flooding in.

We can’t entirely know the outcome for this transition period because if we did, chances are we would be repeating a variation of the past rather than going into uncharted territory regarding the economy, governing, leadership, technological and spiritual advancement. (Yes, going into the unknown can be scary and exhilarating.)

So, here are some of my thoughts about this year and they answer questions that I get asked a lot. No, I don’t think we are all dying in some cataclysmic event in 2012, nor do I think some of us are transcending to heaven while the rest of us go to hell. Yes, there are challenging astrological cycles as well as some flowing ones in 2012. In any given year there is a combination of both. Challenging cycles aren’t necessarily a bad thing (personally or collectively) as they give us an opportunity to break old patterns that don’t allow for growth and positive movement.

7 of Cups © Roxi Sim, Pearls of Wisdom Tarot

Astrology’s greatest strength lies in teaching people about possibilities and potential for present and future cycles - not locking them into predictions. 2012 symbolically represents a transition period rather than a year. We have been in it for a couple of decades and will be in it for several more. During the transition period we are dealing with the gifts and challenges of human evolution, therefore are noticing acceleration in both breakthroughs and chaos.

We need to marry our imagination with past experience and come up with a realistic, manageable vision for the future health and well-being for the earth and all her life forms. On any given day there are a multitude of choices that we could make and experience that don’t even register with us because our thoughts keep taking us along the same old circuit. Whatever we keeping thinking about (what we focus our attention on) eventually becomes our reality. Limited thoughts = limited reality (future). How is this relative to 2012? Resist the temptation to partake in fear based 2012 books/movies/conversations. Regarding the Mayan calendar and the interpretations around it, the only translation that I would accept as totally accurate would be from the people who created the calendar because they understood what they were doing relative to the time period they lived in and their frame of reference. For the record I feel the same way about all ancient teachings, holy books, etc., and people’s translations and/or interpretation of them. I know that if I read a book or go to a lecture that a spiritual teacher, politician, or economist is giving and then recount back to them what I think they said and meant, some of it would be correct and some of it would not. The chances of us having a totally accurate understanding of the Mayan calendar are not that good. Here’s an interesting ‘thought creates reality’ thought there are many people in the world who have never even heard of the Mayan calendar and the whole 2012 drama. Does that mean (in their reality) it simply doesn’t exist and they can treat 2012 like any other year? Very Schrodinger’s Cat! (Google it if you don’t get the reference) or “if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?” An Astrologer since 1986, Catherine is also a Hypnotherapist and Meditation Instructor. Let go of shame and love yourself by Liana Shannon Embracing our so called flaws, standing in Spirit, having some practical responses when shame rears its head and doing the work to heal ourselves, not only improves our lives, but it makes us available to help others as well according to many philosophers.

We are often at our most spiritual when we are wrestling with brokenness, rejection or shame and it is in that place of sadness that we learn connection to Source and to compassion. Our struggle into wholeness is often where our greatest beauty is manifested. According to Jean Vanier in The Broken Body (Darton, Longman and Todd Ltd, 1988), a theologian and the founder of L’Arch (a community dedicated to bettering the lives of people with developmental challenges), our brokenness is the place where we are transformed into light. He believes that unless we have experienced the deepest place of our misery, we cannot fully experience the love of God. It is there in our brokenness that we can find the truth of our wholeness and in becoming unified with our whole self, we can become a source of love and unity for others. Embracing our flaws and trusting that our higher power has a plan for our soul and lovingly created us just as we are can be a source of strength. Christian minister Joel Osteen recommends that each morning we put on: “the breastplate of God’s approval.” No matter what others say to us or even what our own internalized critic has to say, we are protected by the knowledge that the Creator loves us unconditionally as we are, not in spite

When I Think Of You © Maria Pace-Wynters — www.mariapacewynters.com

Although we’re all a work in progress, one cannot fracture the self by rejecting the parts of ourselves that we deem to be imperfect or a source of struggle. According to psychologist Dr. Jane Bolton in her article, Shame Release and Buddhism (Psychology Today, 2010), one must learn to recognize the energy of shame and name it as such, thus undermining its power: “When you start to feel depleted, inferior, not good enough, defective, that’s shame. Learn to recognize its energy. Merely naming it makes it less intense.”

of certain parts of us, but in our whole self and in the potential of what we can be. He states that our higher power made us exactly as we are, flaws and all, and did not make a mistake. Our flaws are often the place where our greatest transformation and beauty resides. Learning to develop our gifts and improve in our challenged areas even a little bit can lead to fantastic transformation and miracles in our lives and our perceived flaws, used for good, can be a source of great beauty. Osteen tells the story of a woman gathering water with two pots, one whole and one cracked. The cracked pot leaked all the way back to the house each day for years ILoveMosaicMagazine.com

and would be half full once she arrived home. One day the cracked pot asked her why she continued to use him when he was so broken. She explained to him that his leaking watered the path along the way home and because of this, flowers grew along the path. She regularly gathered these flowers and filled her home with them. It was the crack in his pot that brought so much beauty into her home. We live in a culture that constantly tells us that we are not living up to expectations and that our lives are filled with lack. This seeps into our psyche and plays into millions of years of animal evolution that tells us to be alert for danger and that our very survival, genetic longevity and quality of life depend upon our place in the hierarchy of our social group. However, stepping outside this maelstrom of changeable, nebulous ego-based fear and shame in order to be grounded in Spirit, eternal truths, and connection to all life, frees us from this enslavement. We are eternal pieces of God (or life-force according to one’s beliefs) and that ground of being within us is not dependant on the transitory winds of approval, but upon the eternal reality of love and grace. In How to Free Your Mind: Tara the Liberator (Snow Lion Publications, 2005), Thubten Chodron explains the transitory and illusory nature of these false judgments: “It is difficult to accept others and to accept ourselves. ‘I should be better. I should be something different. I should have more.’ All of this is conception; it’s all mental fabrication…When we stop believing them, it becomes much easier to accept what we are at any given moment, knowing we will change in the next moment. We’ll be able to accept what others are in one moment, knowing that they will be different in the next moment.”

Bolton also suggests that letting go of shame allows us to be fully present for others. For many philosophers, letting go of shame and allowing in love and compassion for oneself, not only benefits oneself, but is necessary in order to help others. The Dalai Lama was quoted in an article, Lack of SelfConfidence (www.viewonbuddhism.org), saying: “Human potential is the same for all. Your feeling ‘I am of no value’ is wrong. Absolutely wrong. You are deceiving yourself… With the realization of one’s own potential and self-confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world. According to my own experience, self-confidence is very important. That sort of confidence is not a blind one; it is an awareness of one’s own potential. On that basis, human beings can transform themselves by increasing the good qualities and reducing the negative qualities.” Our flaws or mistakes are temporary, ever changeable and, when worked on, can be the source of the greatest beauty and miracles in our lives. Indeed, it is in our brokenness that we find connection with all living things, who also suffer at times. When we open the window of love to ourselves as we are and all that we can be, like the lengthening days of spring, we allow in the light that ever brings us renewed life. Liana is an acting instructor at The Citadel Theatre’s Foote Theatre School and an actor in both stage and film. She also writes for Ascendant Books in Edmonton.

Many psychologists recommend first doing work to heal issues that surround one’s childhood in order to let go of shame and live a fuller life in the present. Perhaps the most famous book advocating the championing and healing of the ‘inner child’ is John Bradshaw’s Homecoming (Bantam Books, 1990). In it he suggests exercises wherein one can learn to unconditionally love and parent the part of one’s self that is still stuck in the wounds of childhood. Again, from her article, Shame Release and Buddhism, Bolton suggests a few practical responses to when shame and fear creep into our daily lives and inner dialogue: • Recognize the energy of shame and name it (as stated earlier.) • Realize or remind yourself that you are not the feeling of shame. • Take a nurturing stance toward yourself. • Think of what you haven’t done for yourself because of your shame and commit to doing it anyway. • Work against the tendency to hide and isolate yourself. • Practice in your imagination some alternative responses to shameful situations. Challenges and joys of portrait painting I was fairly young when my parents noticed I had a love of art and an interest in drawing. From being my favourite subject at school, to drawing portraits on the bus of random strangers, it seemed this was going to be a life long pursuit. At 16 years old, I worked at an artistic glass blowing manufacturing plant in my home town of Windsor, Ontario. There I learned to sculpt and blow glass figurines. I created some interesting pieces that opened up a job for me in Florida as a demonstrator at a gift shop where I also sold my work. Art was put on hold when I was raising my family but I did a little folk art painting. It wasn’t until my youngest child was in high school that I was able to get serious and invest some time to study which led me to Artra Art School of Edmonton where I trained for several years. I started with pencil, charcoal and acrylics, painting many different subjects, but my love of portraiture became a passion and oil my medium of choice.

Painting people has been a challenging obsession for me but nothing is more rewarding than to capture my subject’s likeness and even their personality.

Andrea © Catherine Marchand

I’m driven to make the next painting my best so I am constantly learning from others. I attend workshops across Canada and U.S. I also paint with a wonderful group of artists at Pros Art in Edmonton where I learn so much from my fellow painters and from my teacher Gene. I’m pushing myself to break away from true realism, exploring a more ‘painterly’ approach using expressive brush strokes and lots of color. I’m hoping to create some significant spiritual pieces in the future that will also express my faith in Christ for I recognize that any talent I have is from God in the first place.

(Italian) With heart and soul

Just listen to the whispers “When someone shows you who they are, believe them… Listen to the whispers.” I read that advice in an article written by Oprah in her magazine about life lessons that really matter (ones she taught her students in Africa). I loved that she used the word whispers because it’s just so subtle - just like what really happens when we meet someone. There we are in an interaction with this other person when it’s almost like someone is whispering in our ear, telling us things about this person that we can’t actually see and we are flooded with insights about them that we couldn’t possibly know just based on what they are showing or telling us. I would call this an insight or intuition but Oprah calls it a whisper… and I love it, by whatever name you call it. How many times have I heard a whisper and ignored it, thinking that I’m making something up or being overly dramatic or too sensitive? And how many times have the whispers proved to be true? Almost always! When I look for a mind/body/spirit therapist or body worker, I do consciously look for some type of rapport or ‘click’ with them because I know that if I don’t feel that connection, my healing won’t happen. But, until a few weeks ago, it never occurred to me to have this very sensible (and intuitive) criteria apply to other ‘nonspiritual’ things I need to deal with in my every day life. I was recently in a session with Darlene Klassen (Full Circle Therapy, St. Albert) when I was telling her the drama I was having picking out a paint color for my living room and kitchen. After getting the help of one interior designer and having my dear husband paint three different versions of a color on three consecutive days (in an effort to try get to something I liked), I didn’t know what to do. In desperation, I called another designer, who I actually felt more of a connection with, and with whom I ended up picking a whole different color - one more suited to me. Darlene told me she understood exactly what I was saying because she had recently moved and needed help choosing kitchen cabinets for her new place. She said she would have previously just picked something quickly because of the timeline she was under, but this time she decided she wasn’t going to do that. She wanted to find someone she connected

with (and understood what she wanted) and after going to many different businesses she found the exact woman she felt a ‘click’ with… then buying the cabinets was easy and she got exactly what she wanted. As I listened to her story, it honestly surprised me. Connecting to someone in order to get the right kitchen cabinets? Really? It was an epiphany for me! I never, ever consciously thought about looking for some kind of connection to any service related provider in my life unless it was a mind/ body/spirit related practitioner. Now it seems foolish to think that I wouldn’t have looked for someone I connected to for EVERY part of my life (wherever possible) - whether it was for my spiritual well-being or the colors in my home.

I now aspire to be that person that listens to the whispers, that believes what people show me, the first time. I think it’s an art to have that much mindfulness to hear and notice and then to have the grace to just accept others instantly. There are many times I’ve heard the whispers, but that I can’t accept what I’ve heard. I think that’s why I’ve worn glasses from a very young age. And, that’s where acceptance comes in being okay with ‘what is’.

The lovely Catherine Potter always tells her students that we all have the right to be ourselves, but we must allow others the same right to be themselves - because we’re all on a different journey. I think it applies to what I’m saying here. Others have the right to be themselves and you have the right to see and hear them saying and being exactly who they are - and aren’t. And in turn, you get to be who you are (and aren’t) and let them hear your whispers too. Following our intuition, our insights, our whispers is imperative to our lives. The more I listen to the whispers, the more I accept people (and even myself) for who we each are. And, the easier it is for me to find the people that I easily connect with, in every aspect of my life. It happened again yesterday. I heard a whisper and it was so subtle, I almost ignored it. Thankfully, a voice inside me yelled: “HELLO, THAT WAS A WHISPER!” And then I couldn’t help but smile. Oh ya, I could get use to this kind of guidance…
