I Love Mosaic We are the same, all of us, each resonating with different archetypes at different times in our lives. We have all been the Magician, the Lovers, the Hanged Man, Death, the Sun, the Universe… We are all here to grow and learn about every aspect of who we are. The tarot just breaks down the segments of us into symbolic pieces, and as such, it’s a great tool to help us learn more about ourselves. Long ago I’d heard how great masters like Jesus and Buddha could be in many places at the same time for everyone who needed them. Their energies were/are so vast and immense, that this was easily possible. I had an idea that was transferable. I wondered, if God or the Universe could speak through an oracle (say, the oracle of a tarot card), could it answer many simultaneous questions from a variety of people with just one card? www.L3photo.com
I believe it can. I don’t know how it works and I won’t pretend to. I’ll leave that part of the mystery up to the gods and magic. Now it’s time to ask a question. Just take a moment and think of a question that you’d like a divine, oracle type answer to. What is it that you want to know? by Connie Brisson From the time I was just little, I’ve been fascinated by the idea of getting messages and answers from God.
Now, turn to page 24 where we have an Oracle Answer for you. One tarot card is featured there and it has a message just for you.
I’ve always longed for God to talk to me and until recently I didn’t even realize this was really possible. But when I shifted my idea of how God/Universe could communicate with me, then, of course, everything changed and a whole world of messages and answers opened up to me.
But wait… Before you even read the information, look at the card and see how it speaks to you. Write this down. Your personal connection to the card’s images and the message you intuitively receive is at least as powerful as the message on that page. Hear and honor both.
An oracle, according to the Webster’s Dictionary (Federal Street Press, 2005) is “one held to give divinely inspired answers or revelations; an authoritative or wise utterance or a person of great authority or wisdom.”
If you don’t feel the card and information has answered you, just let what you’ve read simmer in you; there’s a chance that within the next few days, weeks or months that a divine answer will come to you, from the seeds of what you’ve read on that page. Sometimes answers come that way.
In classical antiquity, an oracle was a person inspired by the gods. The word oracle comes from the Latin verb õrãre ‘to speak’ and oracles were believed to be portals through which the gods spoke directly to people. I like the idea of an oracle because many of us are looking for answers and we want answers that are divined by God and not from someone’s ego or desire to be ‘right’. One of the best oracle answers I’ve ever gotten is from the cards of the tarot. Years ago, I first came to tarot because I needed help with some tough issues that I could not make sense of - I needed answers/guidance that were unbiased, deep and could help me grow as a person. I wanted to learn the lessons at hand and not continue to chase my tail. Tarot has never disappointed me since. Tarot is rich with symbolism. Yes, there is a fortune telling aspect to it, but the side that speaks to me is the one of symbolic archetypal energies and their impact on my personal growth.

Releasing blocks with Jin Shin Do® Christmas has passed, and no matter what tradition we follow, this time of year is usually spent with family and friends, and it can also be highly stressful. This combination can often bring up emotions that leave us feeling aggravated or confused. ‘Stuff’ that intensely aggravates us in others is almost always a reflection of the things we like least about ourselves and that can provide a mirror for self-awareness. If you think that everything is about you, you’re right. When we hear our inner voice talking about what ‘they’ are doing, it is the perfect time to stop and ask ourselves: “What am I feeling? Where am I feeling it?” If we can focus on that instead of what the other person is doing, we can begin to understand how our reaction belongs to us and not to the other person, and that is the first step in solidifying the relationship with self and overcoming self-created barriers to relationships with others. As Valentine’s Day approaches, we may become more interested in improving our relationship with that special someone. Most of us spend a lot of time and energy focusing on relationships and how we can make that special relationship even more perfect. Contrary to commercial opinion, the perfect relationship doesn’t develop from giving the perfect gift or planning the perfect date, but rather from solidifying the most important relationship of all - the relationship with your self. The more we are in a genuine relationship with our self, the more genuine our relationships are with others.
to release from the sore points and there is almost always a release of corresponding emotional blocks that allows you to become more aware of how issues that you have not dealt with in the past affect your physical and emotional health. As the tension is released, the underlying events, often emotional traumas dating back many years, are freed and clarity begins to develop around the feelings that you have been experiencing.

by Dale Pierce Jin Shin Do® Teacher
In my seven year journey with JSD I have seen a deepening awareness of the emotional blocks that held me back from experiencing life to the fullest potential. In the process of learning to use these techniques, I was brought face to face with emotions and memories that had caused my heart to become more and more closed to others as I tried to avoid the experiences that triggered my pain. As I became aware of the physical expressions of these blocks, and as I became more willing to let go of this old ‘stuff’, it has become easier to notice when ‘stuff’ comes up and then to let it go.
In Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® (www.jinshindo.org) our intention is to expand the capacity for self-healing by releasing the tension that blocks the flow of Qi and encouraging balance in all of the meridians and channels. The results of a Jin Shin Do session include a general feeling of relaxation and a heightened awareness of Self. One of the ways that we can begin to deepen the relationship with self is to become more aware of our emotional blocks - the parts of ourselves that we don’t want to expose. For most of us, these are only noticed in the way we react to others and when we have thoughts like: “I wouldn’t be (or feel) this way if only ‘they’ would stop.” How can we begin to deal with these emotional blocks? In a Jin Shin Do® (JSD) Bodymind Acupressure® session, we follow the body tension that is a result of these blocked emotions. As I hold painful or uncomfortable points, and related points elsewhere on the body, the tension begins

The family soul by Jonathan Hooton Family Constellations Facilitator “I am beginning to believe that we know everything, that all history, including the history of each family, is part of us, such that, when we hear any secret revealed, a secret about a grandfather, or uncle, … our lives are made suddenly clearer to us, as the unnatural heaviness of unspoken truth is dispersed. For perhaps we are like stones; our own history and the history of the world embedded in us, we hold a sorrow deep within and cannot weep until that history is sung.”
connected with our family system which includes the living and the generations before us - our parents, grandparents, and our ancestors. After many years of studying family dynamics in a process he named Family Constellations, he distilled his observations into three ‘Orders of Love’: 1) Everyone has the right to belong in the family system. If someone is forgotten, rejected or ignored then the flow of love is blocked between the generations and a descendant will identify unconsciously with the excluded ancestor and bear that burden. Examples of excluded family members are criminals, the ‘black sheep,’ homosexuals and unacknowledged miscarriages and abortions.
Susan Griffin, A Chorus Of Stones, Doubleday 1992
In Alignment © Heather Brewster
2) There is an order of precedence: parents come first, then the children in the order they are conceived. Sometimes, a child will act as the parent or be the emotional partner of their parent, in order to take on the pain or sadness of that parent. This is a burden that can lead to difficulties later in adult life. 3) There needs to be a balance of reciprocity in any relationship, except between parents and children where only parents can pass on life to their children, not vice versa.
Secrets within the family have a profound effect on the members of the family, particularly on those who are most vulnerable, usually the children. The effect may continue over several generations. For those who do not know the secret, there is often a knowing in the body, a felt sense of something ‘out of order’, that shows up as unexplainable (even risky) behaviour, a repeated pattern of painful relationships or unsuccessful enterprises, addictions, an inability to move forward in life which can include depression or suicidal feelings or excluding oneself from the family, to name some dynamics. In my family two of my siblings took on the burden of an excluded member of our family system: my brother suffered from mental illness and committed suicide while my sister became anorexic and alcoholic. Only a few years ago I learned that my father had an affair that had lasted most of his 44 year marriage with my mother. As Susan Griffin wrote ‘the unnatural heaviness of unspoken truth’ was dispersed and, after many years of not being able to grieve my parents’ deaths, I could weep to release the sorrow held deep within.
When these orders or principles are not respected, then an interruption in the flow of life will be apparent in the form of a member of the family unconsciously taking on the burden of an excluded person. The Family Constellations system can be used to help individuals, couples and families in a group process or in a one-on-one consultation to reveal the hidden dynamics in the family system and initiate a change in those dynamics. Jonathan Hooton has a private practice working with individuals, couples and families and facilitates Family Constellation workshops. He has studied extensively with Bert Hellinger and many of the international leading teachers in this system. Bert Hellinger, a German priest then psychotherapist, spent time with the Zulus in South Africa where he learned that they resolved personal and communal issues by including their ancestors in the healing processes. They understood that our well-being or lack of well-being is www.MosaicMagazine.ca

Homeopathy and weight loss? Up until now homeopathy (like most medical practices) offered limited success with weight loss. But today, thanks to the principles of homeopathy, the HCG weight loss protocol (as described in Kevin Trudeau’s book: The Weight Loss Cure They Don’t Want You to Know About, Alliance Publishing Group, 2007) has been made available to everyone, even folks who are afraid of needles! Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homeopathy, found a safe way to use virtually any substance in a therapeutic way, without causing any harm to the physical body. He determined that by diluting a substance and shaking it, you could create the ‘perfect’ dose. And now these same principles have been applied to the HCG weight loss protocol! HCG, or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is often called the pregnancy hormone (but rest assured HCG weight loss is for men as well as women!) One of the major jobs of HCG during pregnancy is to immobilize stored fat in the body in case there is a food shortage. Mother Nature always has a plan, so if there is a drought the HCG will ensure that a developing fetus will feed off of its mother’s fat stores. How does this apply to someone who needs to lose weight? Taking the HCG and following a very low calorie diet tricks the body into thinking that it is pregnant and there isn’t enough food. This ensures rapid, safe weight loss where only the stored fat is lost (not structural fat or muscle), and the individual on the program does not suffer the usual hardships involved with dieting.
recommended as part of a healthy lifestyle!) in order to enjoy a weight loss of close to one pound each day. Yes, you read that correctly! People who do the HCG weight loss protocol often lose nearly 30 pounds in 30 days. And they look great! That’s because they actually lose stored fat, not the fat that holds up their skin and organs. Plus, it can actually re-build a metabolism and re-shape your body. As a doctor of Homeopathy and Heilkunst, I almost never recommend that people begin the HCG protocol without beginning Heilkunst treatment at my clinic first. This is because excess weight is a very complex issue and if you lose the weight quickly, without figuring out why you gained it in the first place, you can gain it back despite what Kevin Trudeau has claimed in his book. Heilkunst will remove the underlying disease states that have set an individual up to gain weight and to make unhealthy lifestyle choices. Plus, it teaches principled lifestyle choices for health and longevity. Journey © Carol Breen — www.carolbreen.ca
by Tammie Quick DMH, DHHP
When my patients are ready for the HCG protocol, my clinic offers a unique approach that includes Homeopathic HCG, a consultation that teaches the ‘HCG Weight Loss Protocol’ and how to get ready, 24/7 support, and some additional homeopathic formulas custom designed to help each individual succeed. When you’re ready to heal your weight issues, Homeopathic HCG and Heilkunst are ready to help. For more information on Heilkunst, Homeopathy or the HCG approach to weight loss, please visit Tammie’s website at www.quickhealth.ca or call 780-221-6127. In the past, doing the HCG protocol meant daily injections of HCG, but today there are homeopathic drops available, which are just as effective and are taken by mouth. Now if I’ve made this weight loss protocol sound easy, let me correct that! This program is not for everyone. And it is definitely something that you have to be ready for, as it does involve severe restriction of food choices. But with the HCG on board, people are not hungry, light headed or grouchy like they are with typical calorie restricted programs. Plus, participants aren’t forced to exercise (though it is

Welcome Chinese Year of the Snake by Skye MacLachlan Feng Shui Consultant
Sheep: This is an average year. You must be willing to take the initiative and stay focused.
The Chinese New Year begins on February 10 (February 4th on the Chinese solar calendar) and we welcome the Water Snake.
Monkey: There is nothing holding you back from success; cooperating will double your results. Stay focused on the positive.
As well, we welcome a star that only occurs once every nine years. This star has the energy of pushing a restart button, meaning that we have the opportunity to begin anew in all areas of our lives. Because our beliefs and ego will try to hold onto what is familiar (even the most oppressive circumstances can feel safe when compared to the unknown future), we must be super vigilant to recognize when old patterns are being recreated. Whenever you notice an old pattern or belief rearing its ugly head, just imagine yourself pressing the restart button. It’s important not to spend time analyzing or judging past patterns; this attention actually energizes and empowers the pattern - just press restart. The most challenging star (the five deadly yellows star) is located in the Centre Gua (the center of our homes and workplaces) this year. Again, this happens only once every nine years. Here are some ways to neutralize the power of this star: keep the center of your home calm and quiet - if you have a TV or stereo located here, move it to another area; don’t have candles or bright lights on in the center; remove crystals, stones and pottery from the center and add lots of rounded metal items to the center, such as a bronze or brass or copper vase filled with a variety of coins.
Dog: You will receive several pieces of happy news and your money luck is improving. Pay special attention to your health. Pig: Career and money prospects alternate between good and bad. Drive carefully as you may be more accident prone. I LoveThis Universe …Wherever I Go © Monica Castro
There are many interesting aspects to this year. Once every nine years all of the elements and stars return to their home base; this occurs in 2013. What does this mean? The lucky directions will be twice as lucky and the challenging directions will be very challenging.
Rooster: There are improvements in career and money. However, the year’s luck is inconsistent, changing from month to month.
Rat: This is a really positive year with everything going your way. New opportunities should be pursued. Ox: This is an average year. Try not to spread yourself too thin. Complete one project before committing to another. Tiger: Your health is generally good with no signs of major illness. Take care to stay calm and balanced in your relationships with others. Rabbit: Your luck is up and down like a bouncing ball. Pay special attention to your health.
Dragon: Your energy levels, luck and optimism are increasing. A far better year than last year. Happy New Year! May the Year of the Snake be filled with positive blessings for you! If you’d like to learn more about the energies of the Year of the Snake, I’ll be giving my yearly talk on Monday evening, February 11th. Email skyedreamhorse@shaw.ca Skye has specialized in Feng Shui for the home and business for over 30 years. She teaches Feng Shui, Tarot and Dreamwork at the Northern Star College of Mystical Studies in Edmonton, www.northernstarcollege.com or 780-447-3667.
Here are a few words for each of the Animal Signs. Remember that this is only one small part of the entire Chinese Astrological Chart for the coming year. Snake: It’s an emotional year with many obstacles to overcome. Adopt a practice, such as meditation, to help you stay centered and calm. Horse: Many opportunities will come knocking at your door and your luck is far better this year. However, there is also lots of competition; stay focused on your goals.

Heal Your Body © Denise Lefebvre
“Over 15 years ago I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue (I’m now 51). There are phases where I can sleep for whole days at a time. Along with depression, it also causes me pain in my joints and lymph nodes. I used to be on medication, but now I just push myself through it (although it’s very hard on me). Are there alternative ways to help me deal with it?” RM, Edmonton by Lauren Slade Online Health & Reflexology Expert Chronic Fatigue Syndrome causes persistent fatigue that affects the sufferer’s everyday life. National health organizations have estimated more than 1 million Americans and approximately 250,000 people in the UK have CFS. The syndrome is also known as ME which stands for myalgic encephalomyelitis. Myalgia means muscle pain and encephalomyelitis means inflammation of the brain and spinal cord. CFS/ME is more commonly found in women and usually develops in the early 20’s to 40’s and is categorized by severe and often overwhelming fatigue following mental or physical activities. The extreme tiredness is often accompanied by other symptoms including muscular pain, poor concentration and sleeping problems.
by Shauna Gourley RHN, FDN There are several schools of thought on chronic fatigue. From a nutritional perspective, there are several things that could be contributing factors: candidiasis, food allergies (sensitivities), deficiencies in certain nutrients including EFAs (essential fatty acids) and amino acids that are the building blocks of certain neurotransmitters. As an FDN (Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist) there are tests we can run to get to the root of what is really going on in your body (saliva hormone testing, gut barrier function, etc.). Also, many holistic practitioners and functional medicine physicians alike consider chronic fatigue to be a ‘junk diagnosis’. That is to say, not that your symptoms are not by Anny Slegten The answer is yes. You will have the choice between modalities that you perceive will do the work for you or modalities that will require your participation, one of the most powerful being hypnotherapy (according to me, of course). Hypnotherapy is regression therapy, going from effect back to cause. I would first need more information from you to understand you. When did you start to have the symptoms? What made you go to a medical doctor? In the last 15 years, what help did you seek in addition to being on medication? And then we’d go from there.
Reflexology seeks to work with the body’s natural healing efforts and helps to induce relaxation, improve moods, aid sleep and relieves tension so is an ideal therapy to incorporate into the wellbeing program of a CFS/ME sufferer. Sufferers of CFS/ME report positive results with Reflexology. “I have been having reflexology regularly since last October… It has been a real lifesaver… For me reflexology is great, especially as I can’t currently have other treatments such as massage or acupuncture as they send me haywire and make my condition much worse. Reflexology is nice and gentle and really supportive.” (Source: http://forum.chronicfatiguesyndrome.me.uk/?topic=6266.0) Lauren is the Principal & Founder of the Universal College of Reflexology with over 30 year’s experience and a respected educator, coach, mentor. 1-866-944-2576, info@iReflexology.com, www.iReflexology.com & www.LearnFootReflexologyOnline.com
real, but it is a diagnosis physicians give to a certain set of symptoms that they really don’t know the cause of, and are therefore, limited to treating only the symptoms. Many integrative physicians find chronic fatigue to be a symptom of sub-optimal thyroid function (type 2 hypothyroidism) or untreated primary hypothyroidism and I would invite you to research the work of Dr. Mark Starr and Dr. David Derry. Both physicians have had great success treating chronic fatigue with desiccated thyroid hormone. Good luck and don’t give up! This is not a condition you have to live with. Shauna Gourley is a certified RHN (Holistic Nutritionist), FDN (Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist) and founder of Authentic Health. Shauna considers herself a ‘health detective’, passionate about getting to the root of health concerns. www.authentichealth.ca
If the front tire, passenger side would keep wearing out faster than any other tire on your vehicle, what would you do? Keeping changing the tire or go to the garage, asking them to check what makes the tire wear out and then fix it? The same goes with anything regarding our health and our life. The answer lies within you and with hypnotherapy the information will come to your awareness, giving directions. Together, I will then be able to help you achieve what you want. Yes, there is help. The choice will be yours.
There is a reason for everything, even regarding our health.

The alchemy of mediation One of my professors in my first year of law school queried the class as to how many students had chosen law as a profession as seekers of justice. He then went on to say that the idea of justice was an illusion, as it was only within the reach of those who could afford to pay. I appreciate a good reality check and his words were a gift. While the ideal legal system would result in justice being served, in reality it seldom is. My intention when starting my path in law was one of seeking truth, which at that time conformed with my personal ideals of justice. Now, further down that path I work with clients to unearth the truth below their conflict as a way of reaching resolutions that are just and fair. My clients recognize that they want an outcome that is fair and equitable and they realize they cannot have the kind of conversation with each other that they would like to have without the assistance of a third person. The conflict between them has evolved to a place where they cannot converse without triggering each other’s wounds. Once that happens and emotions take over, rational conversation becomes unlikely. They stop listening to each other and their words are being filtered through each other’s subjective reality. My work is to interrupt that downward spiral and create space for something different to happen. With mindfulness, presence and creative questions, my role is to assist in transforming the conflict. It is a way of seeking the truth beneath the issue that is causing the conflict. The conflict itself is an ‘acting out’ of old wounds, programming and habitual responses. The conflict is the symptom, it is not the source.
Creating sustainable agreements necessitates mutual understanding. When agreements are forged without understanding, they lack substance and the same patterns of conflict will reemerge until the root of the conflict is exposed. If couples rush through the process with the goal of just getting something down on paper, it usually routes back on itself and the same issues will continue to resurface. For example, a couple in the process of divorce had reached an agreement on all their issues. Once that agreement was put to writing the husband was not willing to commit to the agreements. The wife was frustrated. Tempers began to flare and the entire process was in jeopardy. They decided to return to mediation. On the surface he was upset with the agreements for sharing of child related expense. By asking him questions from a place of curiosity with the intention of understanding, we discovered his core fear was of being perceived as a dead beat dad. After analyzing his budget he was concerned about meeting his financial commitments. Once the truth was brought out into the room, his wife could see and feel where his concerns originated, and in that place understanding takes root; the couple was able to take a step back from the entanglement of the conflict and deal with the issue from a different place. The alchemist transforms common metal into gold. Finding the truth beneath the conflict is analogous to finding gold. Honesty combined with vulnerability creates a powerful alchemical response. In the moment when the truth is revealed, the conflict can no longer sustain itself. The feeling and energy of truth resonating in the room is like gold and nothing else can exist in that moment. To reach resolution, by moving through the conflict itself, requires inquiry into the nature of the conflict. www.MosaicMagazine.ca

I could choose peace by Carmen Jubinville Life Coach
is another way of looking at the world.” And finally, in Lesson 34 it says: “I could see peace instead of this.”
The more women I coach privately, the more I realize that inner peace is a big priority. Each woman I work with has a different dilemma but her goal is to reach a place within herself where she feels content and satisfied.
It is in these challenging moments when the willingness to shift our perspective will determine whether or not we have chosen peace or struggle. It is clearly a choice and it is a choice only you can make.
Inner peace is something we look for and yet it is inside of us already. Just like a light switch we only need to flip it on. Every day life offers us opportunities to choose peace; it offers us opportunities for us to flip on our peace switch. When we recognize those opportunities, that is when we can start practicing. But like anything, when we begin to practice something new we will need some conviction. I use the word conviction because we don’t necessarily need to practice choosing peace when life is flowing with ease and grace. We need to dig in our heels with conviction and practice choosing peace when life is throwing us lemons and nothing seems to be going our way. It is during these challenging times when conviction is paramount. It may seem obvious that we would choose peace over struggle and yet surprisingly enough we actually choose struggle over peace much more often than we realize. For instance, if faced with a confrontation we naturally want to defend ourselves and yet what we don’t realize is that the moment we begin to defend ourselves we are choosing struggle. We justify our choice to choose struggle because we believe that we have to defend ourselves otherwise people will walk all over us or they will hold some sort of opinion or judgment about us.
In this particular instance, imagine if you didn’t take the confrontation personally. Imagine if you let go of the fear that someone was attacking you or judging you harshly. Imagine if you acknowledged the confrontation but chose to release it instead of participate in it.
Walk With Me © L3 Photography
If we want to experience long lasting inner peace we simply need to master the art of choosing it. When we make peace our #1 priority, we then become willing to change our perspectives when faced with adversity.
Are you willing to see things differently? Are you willing to see peace instead?
These shifts in perspective would completely change the outcome of the confrontation. There can be no war if you refuse to fight. This may seem impossible and yet it is completely within your reach with practice and diligence.
It has been my experience that there would be little struggle in life if we refuse to feed certain urges, thoughts and emotions. This doesn’t mean we do not have boundaries. This only means that we are very much aware of our choices. We begin to determine what or who is worthy of disturbing our inner peace and in time we notice that, for the most part, nothing or nobody qualifies. In this instance, to choose peace instead of defending ourselves may feel overly challenging and that is why conviction is key. We have to want peace more than we want to defend ourselves. Healing limited beliefs with FIT by Franni Welter Certified Focused Intention Technique Practitioner No matter where you came from, what your past has been like, whether you are a man or a woman, you are worthy and can live a limitless life. I’m elated and excited for anyone that comes to realize that they are limitless, worthy and that now is the time to begin their healing journey.
come forward and to be able to release them without fear or judgment. Men have been taught to bury their emotions, therefore most men will have to learn how to feel. We all have the right to show our true feelings and still be the same, amazing person we have always been, emotions aside. Women, who do not have this same limited belief, are blessed in society in more ways than one. They can cry for any reason, at any time, even for no reason and not be judged for it. We can dress pretty or dress like a tomboy. We can like other women and not be judged the same way men are. Women can also choose a career in a male dominant workplace whereas men who choose a career in a woman dominant workforce are judged immediately.

When we’re born we all have a blueprint in our brain of peace, love, joy and happiness. As we grow up things we hear, traumas and/or bad experiences change our blueprint and we make negative decisions about ourselves, others and the world. This thought process is known as a limited belief. Limited beliefs cause us daily anxiety, fears, resentments, etc., and hold us back from achieving things we truly want. Most limited beliefs are stored in our subconscious and they all hinder our life’s potential. The most common limited belief men have is that they are weak and unworthy if they are sensitive or show emotion. This limited belief has been passed down generation after generation and is, in fact, a limited belief in most of society. Now is the time to educate society that this idea is very wrong. Men have the right to release their emotions, to cry and still feel like a ‘complete man’. I would feel grateful to instill the unlimited belief in the hearts and souls of all men and society that men are courageous when they allow their emotions to
14

Society has improved as far as judging men in certain circumstances, but I believe there still needs to be significant changes. While both men and women feel the same emotions, men have been told from a very early age that “boys don’t cry” and therefore have conditioned themselves to resist their emotions and push them inside. Doing this repeatedly is toxic to the body and over time can actually cause disease. www.MosaicMagazine.ca

I believe there will be less alcoholism and drug abuse in men as soon as they learn to love themselves, acknowledge their feelings and honor their emotions. Men need to know that it’s healthy to show emotion and I encourage all men to cry when they need to. Crying and releasing emotion is very healing and after the release you will feel like a weight has been lifted. Why is it also more acceptable for a depressed woman to seek help than a depressed man? Again, it is because of the limited belief of society that men should always be strong and that it shows weakness to admit you are depressed and seek help. We are all made up of the same cells, hearts and souls but it is our limited beliefs that keep these stereotypes in place. If you are unhappy or depressed, whether you are a man or a woman, respect and love yourself enough to realize that it is okay that you are feeling this way because you are human, but also know that it is courageous for anyone to seek help and you have every right to do so. Don’t let the opinion of others change your inner self as their opinions are a reflection of their own inner turmoil. People who judge others are usually going through the same or similar feelings and are just projecting their inner self (onto others) with their negativity and judgment. When someone tells you that you are weak, or not good enough, realize they are saying these things only because they are filled with unhappiness. Don’t take their negativity personally; simply send them wishes from your heart that they will learn to love and respect themselves one day. People form many different types of limited beliefs at different times in their lives. One of my limited beliefs was that I was not worthy of nice things (a limited belief I formed when I was six-years-old). Our cells and heart center hold all the memories and when using the FIT process, our body will remember the time we made a limited belief and then is able to release it. My belief transpired because of repeatedly hearing that money does not grow on trees and other statements like: “What do you need that for? Forget it; you don’t need that.” These words were not just focused on me but different family members. This limited belief stopped me from feeling comfortable in my big house or enjoying any of the nice things we had acquired. Until I did the FIT process I was unaware why I was not happy and felt uncomfortable with elaborate, non-essential items.

Turning the lights ON! Wellness doesn’t require time or a journey. Wellness is as easy as turning a light on. This past year I have observed my patients’ headache syndromes, neck and shoulder pains and lower back problems go away. I’ve seen patients who thought they were anxious, depressed or profoundly out of their body become grounded, centered and focused with a sense of confidence and joy. I’ve also had the great pleasure of serving children who were ‘shut down’ or with ADHD (too ‘ON’) and seeing them perform serenity faces or spontaneous yoga moves during their treatment. By the way, they also became more like happy children again with less troubles. The driving force behind my patients’ success is their ability to turn the light on. Light is consciousness or awareness. Consciousness is what organizes our body and our experience of now. When you are feeling stress or pain your body has dropped to a low energy state. Your body will always use the least amount of energy to create stability. A lower brain center can handle challenges quickly, but it is reactive and it doesn’t feel like ‘you’ because it is the more primitive, simple organizer of you. If you want optimal wellness you need to know that your body and mind cannot make a problem go away. Your body is wise; it is a reflection of the light inside. If an injury or stress persists, your body creates symptoms like pain and tension as a way of getting you to look inside. The symptom short circuits the life you were living to wake you up. Inside there is a version of you with enough light to heal yourself. There is also a wisdom in your own light that can lead you to effortless passionate living.
What’s more important is my patients also know that I didn’t make their problem go away. What really happens is their body expands into a more efficient expression of light. My wellness patients learn a series of breath exercises to help them recognize ‘Four Seasons of Wellbeing’. With each season you gain a sense of what kind of light you have to focus your life with. Discover is the first season and has three rhythms to help you get the richest meaning of whatever you resist or are troubled by. In Discover you learn about the relationship of ease and tension in your life and how that reflects in your body-mind. Your body becomes better at selfrecognition. Your aches and pains improve and you have brighter days. Summertime-Mountainside © Lucie Bause

With more skill you acquire Transform, the ability to focus your light into something that supports your core nature. With Transform my patients move through obstacles and chronic health problems. They can enhance the speed and the quality of healing their body and their life.
With regular entrainments and experience with the breathing exercises, you can have moments of sustained awakening. Awaken is the experience of your core authentic being. From awareness of your core nature you can achieve the life you’ve always dreamed of. Your breath, your movement and your energy will reflect your life. My advice to those who seek wellness: stop trying to have less of something. Come experience how wellness and healing are easy, like turning a light ON! In my office I use light touches at specific points on the spine to help your brain recognize how your body is using energy for alignment and function. Your body then shifts to a more efficient setting. The effect is better posture, alignment and flexibility. The adjustment I use is called entrainment because it synchronizes you with your light.

Natural Healing “My voice goes raspy every now and again and my voice is not very loud. I tend to have to repeat myself to others because they can’t hear me clearly and also because I speak too quickly. What can I do to make my voice stronger and clearer?” BD, Edmonton
by Jackie Pearce Wholistic Practitioner Connecting with your solar plexus and your throat chakra would be most beneficial. Your throat chakra governs speech and communication with others. I sense that you have the ability to communicate and feel that you are saying what you mean to; it is more in the delivery that things are going awry. This is where your solar plexus chakra will come into play. Your solar plexus energy is a bit low; through strengthening this energy you will be able to better draw your essence and true self up through your energetic body and project it outwards. A fantastic exercise for you will be to breathe both yellow and blue energy. Begin by standing up tall and feeling very confident. Use your inhales to draw yellow energy into your solar plexus, allow your exhales to release your current beliefs about your ability to communicate. After 10 breaths begin to move the yellow energy up into your throat; now become aware of the yellow shifting into blue. Begin to breathe blue energy all around your throat, lungs and chest. Feel empowered and clear. Repeat daily.

This has much to do with a past life experience. Speaking up clearly in the past has caused a great deal of grief for you. There is a part of you that does not feel safe to express yourself. Also, subconsciously, speaking softly makes others try to listen closer; you get their attention, Yes!
What you need is to find your inner voice! Is it possible that you have the tendency to bottle your emotions/ opinions/feelings inside rather than giving them a healthy outlet to release into? If this resonates with you, the simple act of recognizing it can go a long way towards helping you resolve the issues.
You have stated your voice goes now and again. When you have these conversations with others, what is the relationship with these people in that moment? First become aware of the emotions you are feeling. There is a connection that acts as a trigger for you, with them. It’s not always necessary to know all the details, but if you are able to work on the emotions, it will be released.
You can also do this exercise before having in-depth conversations when you feel you will want to be heard and understood.
Energy therapies, such as Reiki mixed with guided visualizations, can help you go into a deeper level of understanding, showing you how to first embrace and then transcend this energy into the light. Many of our deep unconscious emotions are now surfacing into the physical, creating an opportunity to look after and nurture ourselves with love. This awareness offers you the opportunity to see this from a renewed perspective. By sending in this question, you have already have started to bring that awareness in.

To address the first issue, I recommend carrying blue lace agate, lapis lazuli, and/or sodalite with you, ideally around your neck. These blue stones work directly with the throat chakra, removing blockages. Clearing the throat chakra will help strengthen your voice, allowing people to hear you better. Secondly, I recommend freshwater pearls and black onyx beside your bed, to work on calming your mind, and in turn your speech, hopefully to a speed that other people can follow! Thirdly, the rasping you hear occasionally in your voice, I believe, is your body asking you to speak ‘your truth’. This could mean there is a conversation you are avoiding, one that you need to have to move forwards. This could be with someone close to you, or even yourself! Use moonstone and labradorite to open the balancing channels within yourself. This inner balance of yin and yang will help you to bring your inner voice forwards. Releasing and invoking through chakras A new year and a new wave of energy is upon us! It is amazing to me how quickly energy shifts. Last year’s theme was about setting our foundations and letting go of limitations. It was about really shaking things up and knowing and trusting in the process. 2013 has phenomenal energy! This year is all about building off of our foundations and really being an active participant in manifesting our realities, stepping into our true and authentic selves, listening to our intuition, moving forward without any hesitation, living life at large and realizing our dreams, potential and goals. How does one cultivate this? How do you keep the momentum? Through your energy body of course! Our energetic system is so dynamic and intrinsic. Our fields are here to help us find the bridge between our thoughts and desires and link them to our physical world. When we have optimal energetic flow we are most capable and successful with manifestation. Chakra Balancing and chakral work in general is what I have found to be the most direct way to achieve results with shifts in our beliefs, awareness and lifestyle. Since our energetic body contains an imprint of our energetic history we are able to release on very deep levels. This allows for cellular, mental, emotional as well as physical release to occur. The real beauty of chakral work is that your energy is always fluid and always in motion. So while release is occurring on one (if not several levels of your being) new energy is also coming in to replenish, replace and rejuvenate your energetic body.
Within this work, intention is everything. It is very important to have a clear intention for your sessions. As a facilitator I am here to guide you and create an environment, where, if you are ready and truly committed to change, it happens and very, very quickly. I am here to support you in every way as a compassionate observer without judgement. Our energetic bodies only allow for that which no longer serves us to be released. This is known as divine timing. Within divine timing what is ready to be cleared will be and that which we can still learn from is often brought to the surface, which helps with closure and clarity. We learn more from our journey than we do from someone else accessing our answers. It is more fulfilling and enriching to have guidance, suggestions and ‘homework’ than it is to have someone say: “This is what is missing and here is how to fix it.” Chakra Balancing is that journey. It is graceful, magical and beautiful to witness. Ingine The Snake © Lorraine Shulba — www.lshulba.com
by Jackie Pearce Wholistic Practitioner
In order to transform and create lasting change we need to release and clear. Chakra Balancing allows for this ebb and flow to occur with such elegance and purity. You will leave with a deep sense of peace and well being, feeling lighter, happier and full of confidence. From your session you will have gained insights and direction as to what your next steps are to manifest your destiny.

Healing subconscious triggers Identifying and healing emotional, physical or mental trauma from our childhood takes a lot of courage and determination and I’ve found that Biofeedback is one of the most effective ways to do this. A common trigger from childhood that I witness with clients is that of not being seen and heard. It was a trigger for me as well. Have you experienced feelings of anger, anxiousness, hopelessness or tightness in your body when talking with someone that you didn’t feel was listening to you? It’s not really about whether or not that person is listening to you in the present moment. It is about your ‘belief’ that you won’t be heard which was set up in your childhood in your subconscious. In early childhood, from birth to six-years-old, is usually when our triggers and beliefs are formed and embedded into our subconscious. We get all these messages coming at us and we soak them all up like a sponge in our innocence - both the positive and the negative. When there is emotional, mental or physical trauma in early childhood, our beliefs unfortunately get formed mostly from a place of fear. This results in numerous different triggers and beliefs that fragment us (from being our adultself), reverting us back to being our child-self. When identifying and healing my own triggers, I would often hear the Humpty Dumpty rhyme in my mind. It can feel like we ‘fall to pieces’ when we fragment back to a childhood feeling or place. And typically there are several triggers happening at once when you have had trauma in childhood so it can feel very confusing, frustrating and sometimes hopeless. A trigger is anything that makes you become emotionally unstable in the moment. It’s not about the present moment but it feels like it is. A good guideline to identify a trigger is to give your emotion a number on a scale of 1 to 10. When you feel any negative emotion that feels like a 3 or more, you’ve just been triggered to a past feeling, event or belief - you are no longer in an ‘adult place’. Just getting this ‘aha’ in the moment helps you to start healing and reprogramming.

Biofeedback (through a complex computer matrix) works because emotional traumas get stored on so many different levels. Biofeedback interfaces with your subconscious allowing non-verbal conversation, using the

Hate your glasses and afraid of surgery? Do you remember when you got your first pair of glasses? I do. I started wearing glasses at 12years-old, in 1983. Our family’s move from Canada to Australia initiated a great deal of stress and anxiety within me and it was shortly after that when I was prescribed my first pair. From then on, I wore glasses or contacts constantly for 26 years until 2009. At the height of my series of prescriptions, I had a -5.0 prescription for myopia (nearsightedness). Now, instead of glasses, contacts or ‘corrective’ surgery, I see well without them. I can legally drive without glasses and at the age of 40, my vision continues to strengthen, as does my awareness of stress and subtle anxiety that affects my nervous system and my vision. Wow! What happened? How did I do this? The short answer is that I attended to the causes of my ‘Original Vision Injury’. You see, the move across continents combined with my changing body was far too confusing for me on an emotional level and triggered my ‘original vision injury’. Culture shock, lost friendships, puberty and the lack of support I had to process my feelings, created a dramatic shift in my perception of myself and my world. Jacob Liberman, optometrist and author of Take Your Glasses off and See (Three Rivers Press, 1995) describes the process of vision deterioration which typically begins when a child or adolescent is unable to express feelings about an experience that frightens or upsets them: “Shortly afterward, you (or your parents or teachers) notice that you’re not seeing clearly. So your parents take you to the eye doctor. When the doctor asks you what’s wrong, you say something like, ‘I can’t see the blackboard.’ You really mean, ‘Something has happened that is very painful. I don’t know how to talk about it, and it’s too scary to look at. So I’m blurring it out’.”
Bonnie Martineau came to us in trifocals and prior to attending our course she was in need of a stronger prescription. “I took the class and never looked back (through glasses that is). I went from trifocals to a pair of dollar store glasses for reading finer print only. I am continuing to work on improving - being able to read finer and finer print as I go. Best of all, I got my new driver’s license photo taken without my glasses on. I took the eye test without wearing my glasses and passed for the first time in over 30 years! I now realize the tremendous amount of strain we place on our eyes daily. What a wonderful sense of self-empowerment I felt through this class. It has spurned me onto healing old wounds in the remainder of my body.”

The principles of Natural Vision Improvement say it is the body’s natural tendency to heal. The truth is the visual system is extremely flexible and by attending to the visual systems injury that is the cause behind it (stress and nervous system overload) rather than the ‘symptom’ (blurred vision) your visual system can rebalance itself.
What is your original vision injury? Think back to what was happening in your life approximately six - 18 months before receiving your first pair of glasses. Was your nervous system under stress? Did you have the support you needed to adjust emotionally and mentally to the stress? If your answer is no, you are likely a good candidate for Natural Vision Improvement. Now, take a moment and imagine breaking your leg and having your doctor telling you: “Here’s a pair of crutches; use them all the time and expect to get stronger and stronger pairs because your leg will never heal.” Of course this is ridiculous! We don’t believe this to be true about our leg but how has our culture convinced us this is true about our eyes?

Transformational principles for 2013 2013 is a blank canvas yearning for your creativity, imagination and artistry. It’s a piece of clay aching for us to shape it. It’s longing for our positive and meaningful imprint. I have a bright sense of hope and aspiration for 2013. As I have pondered 2013, Transformational Principles have come. These are not goals, but provide a foundation of intention for 2013. They have profoundly impacted my thinking and positioning and I hope they’ll do this for you. 1) Look At Your Lens My look determines my life. An ancient proverb reveals that: “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.” Your life is ‘lit’ by your perspectives. In 2013, take a look at your lens. How are you seeing people and situations around you? Is it time to recalibrate your lens? 2) Dream and Do - 2013 is a year for dreaming and doing. Dust off your dreams and pull them off the shelves. Unpack them and make proactive choices to step out, take leaps of faith and seize what you see in your imagination. Determine to make a difference in 2013!
integrity, authenticity. This is loving your neighbour as yourself, healthy relationships, going the extra mile and taking time in quiet for reflection and self-awareness. Spirituality is sublime, inspirational and empowering. 6) Your Body Is Your Temple - We are finite beings with limited capacity and limited levels of energy. Pay attention to healthy self-care. Whatever it takes, keep three keys in clear view: abundant sleep, nutrition and healthy diet, and regular exercise. You deserve it, and those you love will thank you. 7) Family First - Family is whatever you make it to be. Maybe it is your flesh and blood or the close circle of friends who support and influence you. Celebrate them. Allow love to flow in you, and through you, to them. Make them feel loved, cherished, and valued. You’ll make two people happy! Leaning into the Moment © Maria Pace-Wynters — http://mariapacewynters
by Abe Brown Certified Master Coach Trainer
8) Live and Laugh - Remember well that there will be lots of opportunities to work hard in 2013. But, also set aside time for play, celebration and laughter. Budget time for living and laughing in 2013! 9) Alignment Leads To Abundance - Seek to be aligned with yourself. You have capacity for greatness, when you are dialed into your personal sweet spot: your ‘LIFEFIT’. Pursue your LIFEFIT in 2013. Abundance easily flows when you’re most aligned with your best self. This is a process and getting my book, Getting Where You Need To Go, helps http://www.gettingwhereyouneedtogo.com/
10) The Future Is Bright! No one is predicting the end of the world on December 21, 2013. The future is bright! Amazing possibilities lie before us. 2013 is fat with potential and promise! A harvest of abundance and plenty awaits. People who believe, live, speak and think this way will surely attract better results than those who don’t. The outcomes are for us to determine! Abe Brown is a Certified Life and Business Coach and is also a Certified Master Coach Trainer. He spent several years as a counsellor and ordained minister and then transitioned into a practice of Coaching. Visit www.momentumcoaching.ca or www.certifiedcoachesfederation.com
3) Engage and Emerge - A fully engaged person will fully emerge. If it is not worth doing at a fully engaged level, it’s not worth doing! A fully engaged person will fully emerge and be seen, celebrated and emulated. 4) Creativity and Creation - In 2013, let’s not leave anything on the table. Let’s not allow anything inside to die while we yet live. Pull out your inherent creativity, and create, design, build and produce! 5) Spirituality Is Sublime - In 2013, cultivate spirituality. Here I speak not of religion, but of alignment with the basic and intrinsic common values: compassion, kindness, gratitude,

Healing with water The waters of our Earth are calling us home. The Great Goddess and the Divine Mother can be felt and experienced in the waters that feed us, birth us, nurture us and support us. Water’s metaphorical potency, to act as a mirror for the tides of our life’s cycle, is apparent in the many states this element takes on. From glaciers to rivers, lakes to oceans, evaporation to rain, we see a circle of connection, surrender and transformation. It is the waters of our wombs, blood of our bodies, salt of our tears. It is a force that may not be contained or controlled and within its depths lay mysteries greater than our imaginations may conceive of. After my own Mother’s tragic death, the only place where I felt safe to grieve was in water. Standing waist deep in the North Saskatchewan River, I felt the dams I had built inside myself open, the river pulling and drawing forth my anguish, my grief, the waters purifying my spirit. I was safe to surrender, held by the Great Mother. I would pray in the water, sing in the water and cry in the water. The water set me free. Water is our emotional body and so it begs to reason that when we are disconnected from how we feel, whether it is from grief, loss, trauma or simply the stress of our dayto-day lives, healing with water may take us home. When we fear our emotions, be it drowning in our own suffering or loosing control, we build dams to prevent the flow of pain from touching our conscious minds, forgetting that once pain is felt in its entirety, it simply transforms to something new. Like a river moving rapidly through mountain slopes to the wondering stream it becomes in the prairies, the pressure shifts from intense to calm. When we refuse to feel or deal with our pains, they fester like a murky swamp, manifesting in alternate forms such as disease until we are inevitably forced to face them.
But, building a conscious relationship with water changes this. Meditating, walking, sitting, praying and listening near natural waterways washes away our doubt, stress and pain. We remember, reclaim and reconnect with our emotional body. In the freezing winter temperatures of Alberta’s north this may be done with visualization, using a fountain or in the bath. In my healing programs I use water in all these forms to awaken the power of the feminine spirit, open one’s emotional body and purify the soul of grief and loss. We may do this through guided imagery, before my water altar, hands on healing or venture to the lakes and creeks around my land. Each time I am in awe of the power water has to touch that sacred spot inside of everyone. Earth Mother © Janice Blaine — http://paintersblock.com

The tributaries of a river may change overnight, rain flooding its banks and setting a course anew. When we open to our emotional wisdom we become this river. Our emotions are alive. They will take us home and this is part of the Great Mystery. This is where grief, pain, loss, betrayal and anger become compassion, joy, grace and gratitude. Our culture is very masculine, seeking out definitive, solid, absolutes, leaving little space for our emotive, intuitive, spiritual expression. We are often numb to our feelings and who we are - saying, thinking and doing what we deem is expected or desired, rather than expressing our authentic perspective. www.MosaicMagazine.ca

Oracle Answer Before you read this page, think of a question you would like an oracle answer for.
The Sage of Cups by Marie Walker The Sage of Cups, from the Voyager Tarot, created by James Wanless (Merrill-West Publishing 1989), is called the Regenerator. This card is about learning how to own and master your feelings and emotional energies. In tarot, ‘cups’ represent water and emotions. Sages understand that where we focus our emotional energies is extremely important as our energies, like the water in a river, flow on and on, having far reaching effects. For example, one random act of kindness can end up affecting many people. The converse is also true. The effects of negative energy can also escalate well out of our control. What we pour into the river of life comes back to us tenfold.
feeling, whether it be fear or joy, makes it your own experience. This has great benefits. First, when a feeling is your own, you can relax into it, allowing it to shift and move fluidly. It’s possible to start by feeling anger about a situation, then experience sadness around it only to have it open into joy. When you do this, when you truly feel a feeling, it can continue to transform itself as you follow it until you come to a place of peace or acceptance. Failing to allow an emotion to develop lets it become like a caged animal looking for any opportunity to escape. Projection and victimhood are the unpleasant
The Sage, as the most developed aspect of the cups suit, is about feeling everything without being afraid of any emotion. Those who are able to feel the depth of their grief when someone they love dies are able to feel the depth and fullness of the love that was shared.
Voyager Tarot created by James Wanless (Merrill-West Publishing 1989)
People who are able to feel and own each emotion as it comes are unstoppable; they can step forward toward their goals. For example, if you see a perfect job opportunity, you might be scared of trying something new (starting with the whole interview process). If you aren’t willing to feel that fear you will probably not go for the job interview. You will stay with what you know - the safe job that bores you to death. If you are willing to feel the energy of fear in your body, it will often shift and change. Your feeling could become excitement about a new job, but that too will move on. Feelings are liquid and evermoving, like the river in the Sage card. You will cycle through excitement and fear and likely other feelings the whole time you are seeking the new job. Your openness to feeling everything allows you to step into new opportunities. As well as reminding you to feel all the feelings that turn up in daily life, the Sage of Cups tells you to take responsibility by going inward and understanding those feelings. Being fully in touch with a

outcomes of efforts to protect ourselves by not feeling. People who don’t feel are usually pretty closed down; which can be seen in the way they move their bodies. They might be a bit like zombies, or they might be people who just want to feel one thing. If a person just wants to feel joy or calmness, anyone who comes along who doesn’t have this joy or calmness becomes a problem. The person who only wants to feel joy becomes a victim; certain that someone else has ruined their day. It’s really their own response that has ruined their day. It’s the caged negative emotion that they didn’t want to own or see ever again; now that they are faced with it they believe it is someone else’s fault. The feelings they didn’t own have been projected onto someone else. If the feeling is rising in us, then it’s our feeling - it’s that simple. No one else can make us feel anything.
Conversely, the Sage of Cups may be nudging you to seek guidance from an older, wiser person in your life about whatever issue you are facing. Your mentor should be someone you feel comfortable opening your heart to, really sharing your challenges. In order for this person to help you, you’ll need to be vulnerable and emotionally honest.
When we make what we are feeling someone else’s fault, the water freezes and we can’t move or flow anywhere. If we are waiting for someone else to change in order to feel better, we are stuck in our anger or fear. The Sage understands this and knows that feelings are simply energies, neither bad nor good. It’s all just part of what we came here to feel and experience in life.
If the Sage of Cups comes up in answer to a question that you didn’t think was about love or emotions, remember that you take your feelings into every part of your life. If your question is about what to do to earn a living or how to fast-track your career, the Sage wants you to know how important it is to love what you do and to honour your gut feelings.
When you draw the highly-developed Sage in answer to a question, you are receiving affirmation that you have the resources within you to respond to your question. Although the Sage is usually seen as an older person, you can draw on the wisdom of your inner sage at any age.
Is your question about how to feel good or move past a situation that isn’t happy? How can you cope with missing out on a trip to Mexico? Or when your best friend doesn’t invite you to their party? Maybe it’s really serious, like a death. The Sage comes to remind you to feel those feelings. Trying to make them go away is like trying to hold a beach ball under the water. It takes all your energy. Your body treats all feelings the same. If you close yourself to the negative ones, then you have closed yourself to the positive ones as well. Sages can laugh because they cry when they need to. Sages have learned through experience to relax and flow with life, feeling all the moments.
If you asked a question regarding one of your children, getting the Sage card tells you that you are the wise one in this situation (even if your children are grown adults). You have already gone through many experiences and have the ability to understand life from a broader perspective. No matter how old your kids are, you’ve been around the block more times, and they can benefit from your experience and wisdom. However, being a Sage also means having compassion for your child, respecting their life choices and remembering that they are here to learn from both the good and the hard times.
www.MosaicMagazine.ca
If you’re concerned about issues in a long-term romantic relationship, the Sage will remind you that problems can be overcome. Like the happy man and woman on the card, a mature love endures ups and down. If you’re asking about a new love interest, the Sage card expresses the tremendous depth of this relationship. It doesn’t feel new to you. It’s as if you’ve known this person for a long time - or perhaps even in other lifetimes.

Esoteric Explorations
Exploring the chakra system by Catherine Potter Astrologer and Hypnotherapist I can’t remember when I first heard about the chakras. It was probably when I started studying yoga and meditation. What I do remember was how subjects that introduced me to the concept of union, and the understanding that everything was connected (including our body and mind), made me feel like I had come home. I vividly recall my response to reading a book which proposed that by integrating our disowned emotions and parts of ourselves we naturally rebalance and experience improved health. My first thought was “this philosophy thinks the way I do.” Until that moment I hadn’t even realized that throughout my life I had contorted my mind learning to think in ways that made me feel disconnected. I didn’t know it at the time but I had found my religion - the exploration of interconnectedness and union. My study of the chakras, a system that elegantly supports the idea of interconnectedness, began in the late 1980’s. After personally working with the chakras for several years I started integrating the information into my astrological practice. July © Oksana Zhelisko — www.zheliskoart.com
This then led to an eight month experiential course I developed using the chakra system as an aid in one’s selfexploration and spiritual awakening. I stripped down my approach to the chakras, making it more relevant to western culture, while still retaining the essence of teachings which were part of an ancient Indian system of healing dating back to before 2500 BC. This is the first article in a series dedicated to the chakras. Each issue will explore a different chakra with some ideas, suggestions and questions to help you gain greater clarity.

Let’s begin with looking at what the chakras are. Chakras are vortices (disks) of energy located in our etheric (subtle) body. The subtle body is the first layer of the invisible energy body which connects to our physical body. To get a sense of your energy body, close your eyes and take a moment to breathe. Imagine the space that surrounds you. Does it seem open and clear or contracted and cluttered? As we tune into the condition of this energy body we can often catch and ‘un-kink’ imbalances before they manifest in the physical body. There is a vertical line of energy that moves along the spine from our trunk to above our head. Although there are many energy points, the seven major powerful points of energy (chakras) connect along this line to the nerve ganglia and have an impact on a specific endocrine gland. These sensitive points receive and store information and are affected by our thoughts and emotions thereby directly affecting the physical body. The chakras are usually thought of as lotuses with different numbers of petals. The petals increase in number as they ascend indicating the increasing vibrational frequency of the chakra. There are many theories regarding the chakras such as, the upper chakras are ‘holy and spiritual’ and the lower are ‘not spiritual’. As well there are many ideas out there on how to open the chakras. My experience of the chakras has taught me that they are interconnected with one supporting the other. There is a tendency to overemphasize some and underemphasize others which creates imbalances in our mental/emotional/physical body. When we become more holistic in our thinking and actions, the chakras naturally balance and open. If you choose to work with the information for each chakra, which will include questions and suggestions, be curious rather that judgmental. Be curious as to why you keep getting attracted back to a limited range of life experiences. Be committed to developing the observer and discerning mind. Be open to the idea that you have only scratched the surface in the discovery of who you are. In the next article we will explore the root chakra. My ‘money bunnies’ story by Thea LaPointe I’ve had many wonderful experiences with animals, but I really wanted to share this one. It happened when I was still married, after my ex-husband’s bad accident in 2003 that almost killed him. Our company was not doing very well financially before his accident but it seemed to just get worse each day that followed. When things are not right in the finance area and one is in lots of debt, the bank starts calling all the time, asking when more money will be coming in. Being way over the overdraft will bring on these calls more frequently than one can handle.
me know you’re going to take care of this. Give me a sign that everything is going to be okay.” Before I could finish the thought I looked down, and no word of a lie, there was one of the biggest jack rabbits I’d ever seen sitting about a foot away from me. It just sat there breathing softly and looking at me without fear. These rabbits are wild! They don’t just sit there when people show up; they take off at top speed. I know I’ve seen it happen so many times. Of course the big cry baby (me) bursts into tears again, but this time I was laughing at the same time. As I ran inside to tell my sister and mother-in-law (which also knew about the ‘money bunnies’ stories) I said: ‘thank you’ over and over and over because I knew it was a sign that I didn’t have to stress about it anymore.
I was on my way to our business one day when I got one of these calls and it had already been a bad day to begin with. As soon as I got off the phone I burst into tears. I knew there was nothing I could do at this point but hope and pray that some ‘BIG MONEY’ would come in the mail that day. In the Garden © Bev Johnson — http://bevjohnsonartist.com
When I got back to our business I stood on the grass outside for a bit trying to stop crying and get rid of the feeling of being completely powerless in this situation. Before I continue with the rest of this story I have to explain something. In the past when my ex-husband and I were trying to deal with a fear or make a decision about something important we would ask for a sign or something telling us that everything was going to be okay. When we would do this, and usually it had something to do with our finances, we would always get an answer. In most cases it would be in the form of what we nick-named our ‘money bunnies’. When we first started seeing them we were living in the middle of the city. They were these huge jack rabbits - the ones that change from grey to white in the winter. These bunnies would pop up everywhere once we asked for a sign and after seeing them our finances would always improve quickly. So, there I was standing on the grass in front of our business. In my mind I said: “Okay, I can’t handle this; it’s too big. We’ve been doing everything we can. Please let

This is not the end of the story. Within minutes of me telling my family what had just happened, the mailman came in. There was ‘BIG MONEY’ from our biggest client, money that wasn’t even due. They were just paying us early because they knew we needed it. This is just one of my stories about the animals I have had cool experiences with. They are always speaking to me. Artist’s Gallery
Mosaic art made of recycled paper by Lily Ralston People call me ‘The Green Artist’. I use recycled magazines, cut the page into small pieces and make decorative art. My art is not collage but rather paper mosaic. Butterfly Love © Lily Ralston
I started making artwork in the summer of 2008 simply because I wanted to decorate my apartment that I share with my husband Jeff, who is an internet cartoonist. With my husband’s help I have made a large collection of nearly 100 pictures. “How did you come up this idea of using recycled paper?” people always ask me when they see my art. I think part of that concept came from my childhood. When I was little I lived with my grandmother for a while and she was the type to save a lot of things and then reuse them. That was one of the important things I learned from that great woman.
Flower Party © Lily Ralston
Happiness © Lily Ralston
I always begin my artwork with a pencil sketch on art paper, then take glossy magazine paper and cut it with scissors or tear it by hand to fit into my drawing. I need to find the right size, shape and color piece to fit perfectly into the space. Each finished picture contains over 1,000 carefully chosen paper titles. Making paper mosaic art is quite laborious work; each picture can take me weeks or over a month to finish.
East Pearl © Lily Ralston
I am an artist with a lot to say about the world I live in. I make pictures about the beauty of nature that reflect my own way of looking at the things around me. Many of my pictures involve depictions of flowers in bold colors. Others show female faces surrounded by swirling or flowing colors that accent my love for revealing the wide range of human expression. My art is about positive energy, positive thinking and a spiritual love of nature and life. My goal is to make the world a more beautiful place. (Italian) With heart and soul
Endings and new beginnings by Connie Brisson I’ve always been afraid of the ‘end of the world’ - even as a kid. So when the idea of being in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico on December 21st (the ‘last day’ of the Mayan calendar) became a possibility, I was both scared and excited. While doomsayers predicted ‘the end of time’, others said it would herald in a new era of consciousness. I liked the second door. One of the things that drew me to the Mayan Riviera again was a mystical experience I had on an earlier trip (a few years ago) when we visited Rio Secretro, an underground cave. The Riviera Maya is home to the longest, most spectacular underwater caves in the world. The Mayans consider these underground places sacred and gifted by the gods. This is why, when on this cave tour, everyone proceeds through a ceremony of purification and protection and is blessed by a Mayan shaman before entering the cave. Each cave has an altar, whether you are entering it or exiting it. When we finished the cave tour a few years ago, our guide said we could leave something we wanted to ‘let go of’ on the underground altar at the end of the cave (that we wanted help with from the gods). I mentally placed something on that altar that I’d been really struggling with for about 10 years. Amazingly, within a week after we came home, a major change occurred and since then I’ve often wished I’d asked for help with other things. Because I knew it was powerful, it was important to me to undergo this cave journey again. So as soon as we got there, I booked the tour. Something unusual that happens in the middle of this underground cave tour is that for a moment you sit down in the water and everyone turns off their hat lights. Our guide told us that this was one of the few times in our lives that we would be able to experience total darkness. After sitting in complete blackness for a few minutes, I saw a stream of light that looked like a gliding snake across the ceiling of the cave. Snakes and serpents are very significant in many cultures, symbols of transformation. The Vision Serpent was also a symbol of rebirth in Mayan mythology. This was not something that I’d experienced years earlier. No one else

said a thing, but later my daughter, Gabrielle, told me that she saw the snake image too. Then, when the big moment arrived (the last altar of the cave), this particular tour guide did not mention one word about it. In fact, it all happened so quickly that I had to really concentrate on what I wanted to leave on the altar. Although this surprised me, I knew it was somehow significant. A few days later, on December 21st, the last day of the Mayan Calendar, we went to Xel Ha (a spiritual Mayan archeological site that is now a natural aquarium park). We participated in a special 2012 ceremony where another Mayan shaman performed a spiritual purification ceremony followed by a ‘Ceremony of the Thousand Candles,’ where each person there made a prayer request and then launched a candle that floated off into the lake. It was one of the most beautiful and extraordinary group events I’ve ever participated in. Then back at home, as normal life resumed, I waited somewhat impatiently, wondering if my cave and/or candle prayers would ever get answered. Then, last night it happened unexpectedly, the way prayers are often secretly answered. While reading a novel I came upon a sentence that stopped my breathing. “Is this really it?” I asked myself. Could this simple sentence, discretely placed in this novel, really be the antidote that freed me from a fear that has plagued me for over 20 years? Had that Mayan cave altar and candle prayers actually delivered me an answer that many previous years of searching, healing sessions and therapies had not? I read that sentence over and over, soaking it in. I knew I’d just received a profound answer, but I was shocked to find this gift in such an unlikely place. This one moment had in fact answered both of my prayer requests, even though I had asked for different things at each place. I was, as I always am, in awe of every part of the process. Sometimes we’re scared of the end; other times we can’t wait for things to end. But the one thing that all endings simultaneously bring, like a circle, is new a beginning. We are given the opportunity to start again, to sing a new song, to write a new story…
