FOREWORD

While I’m writing this I’m currently on my business trip to the annual Cannes Film Festival, watching movies from early morning up until late night; this is when Cannes comes alive, the true Night Vibes.

As one of the most important film festivals worldwide, marking its 77th anniversary, it keeps many of its traditions, though some have been revoked in response to previous controversies. When we follow the footsteps one after another to enter the theatre, we see the festival’s logo on the silver screen and clap.

This unanimous sound of applause to the logo always moves my heart. Because formality is respect and love for the occasion, I never take this for granted. How honourable it is for me to sit in the theatre amongst people from all around the globe, and it makes me fall in love with movies again.

A PERFECT DAY TO DREAM

A film festival allows discussions on social issues, and that is why we are bringing back the Let’s Talk About Sex Film Festival in collaboration with the Department of Comparative Literature, HKU and the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS), HKU, in the hope of bringing awareness to the issue from different angles.

Like the old saying, life is a journey or a box of chocolates. The MOViE MOViE channel will corelease Yoko with cinemas, starring Rinko Kikuchi, who plays an isolated person on a road trip to heal. I hope you also meet all these characters from the silver screen and heal on your journey to live life to the fullest.

執筆之時 ，正身處法國康城電影節公幹 ，

從早上 8 時半開始看電影 ，一路看到半夜 。往往 看畢整天的電影後 ，發覺凌晨的康城夜夜繽紛 ， 旺過旺角 。作為全球最重要影展盛事之一 ，踏入 77 屆的康城影展又以華麗優雅見稱 。超 iconic 的 紅地氈固然見証了各地不少名導與明星奠定影 壇地位 ，悠長的歷史同時帶來很多傳統 ，例如首 映禮嘉賓必須要 black tie 出席等充滿儀式感的 傳統 。此外 ，每部競賽電影放映之前都會先播出 康城影展的宣傳片 我們跟著紅地氈的樓梯 徐徐由水底走到天上 ，然後就會亮出「Festival de Cannes」的標誌 ，此時觀眾就會一同報以掌聲 。 每次我聽到觀眾對於康城標誌拍手時 ，總有種 莫名的感動。因為隆重其事也是一種尊重一種愛， 沒有 take it for granted。也讓我感到能夠跟來自 世界各地不同的人一同於漆黑中看戲是多麼幸福 的一回事 ；因此康城影展真的是個神奇的地方， 擁有令人愛上 ／ 重新愛上電影的魔力 。

電影節可以聚集不同的觀眾群，帶出不同的議 題和關注。MOViE MOViE 一向致力為香港發展不 同主題的電影節，今個六月底我們將與香港大學 比較文學系及香港大學學生發展及資源中心合辦 第二屆的 Letʼs Talk About Sex 電影節，上次活動反 應熱烈正面，我們也期待今次可再與觀眾一同透 過相關電影從學術及不同角度談談情論論性。 雖然是老掉牙的比喻 ，但人生卻真的是一個旅 程 ，也像《 阿甘正傳 》所說的朱古力一樣充滿未 知 。 MOViE MOViE 頻道即將與戲院同步的《 陽 子之旅 》由女星菊地凜子所演的主角，在回家奔 喪途上遇上不同有緣人 ，幫助了她和自己達成和 解之旅 。但願我們也在觀影途上透過銀幕上相遇 的不同角色 ，令人生之旅有休息療癒的空間 ，天 天也是個做夢的好日子 。

每次寫「team says」都很糾結要寫些什麼，雖然 有很多話可以說，但又不想在匆忙的時候亂說 話（ 預想到將來會不堪回首，而且有機會被同事 當眾朗誦 ），只好跟大家說封面的《 汪汪夢裡人 》 （Robot Dreams）很好看（ 當然封底《 新活日常 》 役所廣司的大叔魅力沒法擋，但介紹過了 ），除了 單純地覺得機械人和狗很可愛之外 ，也很喜歡沒 有對白的電影。可能我道行未夠深，有時電影裡 充滿哲理的對談讓我消化不良，不但看得頭痛， 而且會為了追看字幕而忘了留意畫面。另外，很 好奇大家會覺得《 汪汪夢裡人 》是「happy」還是 「sad ending」，小編在線等。

Well, what better way to talk about sex than through the medium of film?

MOViE MOViE, in collaboration with the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) of HKU and the Department of Comparative Literature of HKU, presents a series of quality films that will help to break all the taboos surrounding sex, encourage frank and open discussions about it, and deconstruct sex from an academic and cultural perspective. Every film is an insightful lesson you don’t want to miss.

An experiment that tackles the topic of online sexual abuse. In the artifice of their recreated childhood rooms, three actresses posed as 12-year-old girls on social networking services in an attempt to lure responses from predators. Over the course of ten days, a harrowing total of 2458 predators made advances: demanding video sex, soliciting and sending photos, sending links to pornography, with a few even resorting to sexual blackmail. This chilling documentary is not just a social experiment where “the hunter becomes the hunted”, but an indignation of the unsafe online ecosystem that actively encourages and abets the sickening behaviour seen throughout the film.

In a radical and provocative video documentary, director Stanley Kwan recontextualises Chinese cultural and cinematic traditions through a transgressive queer lens. With precision and sharpness, Kwan confronts and dissects queer representation through the utilisation of film excerpts and interviews with filmmakers and actors such as Hou Hsiao Hsien, John Woo and Leslie Cheung. Kwan’s vivisection of the varied expressions of gender and sexuality throughout history reinterprets queer values as inextricable from Chinese culture, closeted within cinema. Yang ± Yin also shifts between the cultural and personal fluidly, marking the moment when Kwan publicly declared his sexuality and became the first openly gay auteur in Sinophone cinema.

In one hot summer night, air conditioning repairman Xueming accidentally runs over a pedestrian. Tormented by guilt, Xueming develops an unusual relationship with the dead man’s widow, Mrs. Liang. However, Xueming gets dragged into the victim’s dark past along his path to redemption. Made with a refined and vibrant visual style, Wen’s Are You Lonesome Tonight? is one of the strongest debuts in recent mainland Chinese cinema.

“The Great Wave off Kanagawa” by Hokusai is undoubtedly one of the most iconic works in Japanese art. The life of the artist however, is virtually unknown. Hokusai tells the story of the life journey of the ukiyo-e master of the late Edo period, who created the legendary “Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji”. Yūya Tagira plays the young Katsushika Hokusai, and Min Tanaka portrays Hokusai in his 70’s, as he produces his stupendous woodblock print series which made him the best-known artist in the ukiyo-e world. Flanked by major stars, this film is a voyeuristic journey of the creative life of a genius, whose influence continues to make big waves, even today.

十年前 ，我在 MMM 寫過一篇關於薩維杜蘭的文 章 ，當年他才二十五歲 ，年輕 、狂妄得讓人心（ 驚 膽 ）跳 ，而我 ，當時還是 MM 的實習生 ，第一次看 《 殺死我阿媽 》，就被全然征服。也是十年前，這 股新浪潮憑著《 慈母多惡兒 》拿下康城影展評審 團獎 ，與法國新浪潮傳奇大師高達平分秋色 ，在 頒獎台上年少輕狂地說出希望以藝術改變世界 之語 。早年的他 ，靈感不斷 ，以每年一部作品之 姿 ，奠定「 康城寵兒 」之名 。近年已少見杜蘭的身 影 ，而剛好十年後 ，三十五歲的他發表聲明 ，不 會再執導筒拍電影 ，這個曾經讓他狂喜 、燃燒烈 愛 、挑戰世界的藝術形式 ，由必須的 、急切的 ，變

《 基密農場 》是杜蘭第四部長片 ，當時他已經憑著

《 殺死我阿媽 》、《 心跳 》及《 愈傷愈愛 》一舉成名 ， 自覺要挑戰一下不同片種 ，誰料一拍驚慄片 ，人 人大讚充滿「 希治閣式 」大師風格 有如《 觸 目驚心 》般觸目驚心的一場浴室戲 ，連杜蘭自演 的 Tom，一頭金髮也甚有 Hitchcock Blonde 的況 味 。不過 ，原來當時杜蘭只看過大師的《 迷魂記 》， 看到影評後 ，還要靠《 愈傷愈愛 》、《 慈母多惡兒 》 的蘇珊卡蒙（Suzanne Clément）買來一套光碟幫 他惡補 。不過電影中讓人津津樂道，被譽為似足 《 奪魄驚魂 》（North by Northwest）於田 追逐的 一場戲 ，杜蘭還是不明所以，因為《 奪魄驚魂 》並 不在那套光碟中 。

畢竟 ，杜蘭高中畢業後就開始拍電影 ，當時他 才 19 歲 ，不是學院派 ，也沒有受過任何專業訓練 。 拍電影於他而言，渾然天成 。或許也是因為不了 解 ，才讓他可以如此不可一世 、不顧一切地自由 創作 ，以最誠實的聲音 ，拍下一部又一部震撼世 界的作品 。

由《 殺死我阿媽 》到《 慈母多惡兒 》，不過五年光 景 ，卻能看出杜蘭的改變 同樣是說母親 ，《 殺 》 由自我出發 ，《 慈 》卻給了這位母親一抹溫柔（ 可 能是贖罪心理 ，兩部電影的「 阿媽 」都是由安多雅 爾（Anne Dorval）飾演 ）。或許徒添的年歲 ，終究 會讓我們發現 ，父母不過也是有血有肉的凡人 。 有人說 ，一比一的畫面 ，是母親與兒子愛與痛 的比例 。兒子史提夫深受過度活躍症之苦，讓自 己與身邊人每日來回地獄又折返人間 ，一比一的 比例 ，更像是世界對他的壓迫 ，讓他看不見遙遠 的路 ，無處可逃 ；母親與契媽的愛 ，曾有一刻令 他突破方正的框架 ，看到一剎那的海闊天空（ 這 一幕 ，是 movie magic 存在的最佳憑證 ）。不過 ， 快樂是一瞬間 ，痛是永恆 ，而現實很痛 。 只是 ，「 愛 ，從來不能拯救任何人 」̶̶ 電影從 開首已道破了 。

IT'S ONLY THE END OF THE WORLD 《愛到世界盡頭》

《 愛到世界盡頭 》改編自法國劇作家 Jean-Luc Lagarce 的同名劇本 ，據說就是由《 殺死我阿媽 》 及《 慈母多惡兒 》的繆思及「 阿媽 」安多雅爾推薦 給他 ，當年她是那部舞台劇的演員之一 ，出演瑪 莉安歌迪娜（Marion Cotillard）於電影中的嫂嫂 角色 。她認為劇本就像為杜蘭度身訂造一樣，不 過當時杜蘭還太年輕 ，捧著「 阿媽 」寫滿注解的 劇本 ，總是看不過幾頁就睡著了 。直到好幾年後 ， 杜蘭在不同場合巧遇上瑪莉安歌迪娜 、蕾雅絲端 （Léa Seydoux）及於兩年前因意外英年早逝的卡 斯柏烏尼奧（Gaspard Ulliel），萌生起想與這幾位 夢幻演員合作的想法 ，才於腦海拾遺這份曾經放 下的劇本 ，頓時手不釋卷 ，茅塞頓開 ，發現像要解 謎般的層層對白之中 ，竟然有他想要的一切 。

ELEPHANT SONG 《愛的幻｢象｣》 28/06 (FRI) 22:00 後記 ： 十年前 ，十年後 。 從前的我 ，極愛《 殺死我阿媽 》、《 心跳 》與《 愈 傷愈愛 》，畢竟 ，小時候 ，只會談情說愛嘛 。 不過 ，杜蘭長大了 ，我也長大了 。 十年後再為他寫一篇 ，後知後覺地發現他決定 不再拍電影了。伴隨看了很多他的訪問，也拾遺 了一直塵封心底的《 慈母多惡兒 》。而我 ，還是跟

他形容這部電影是一個「 老生常談 」的故事（a pedestrian tale of everyday life），可以發生在任 何地方與任何人身上 。主角離家出走 12 年 ，身患 絕症的他踏上回家的路 ，將噩耗帶給形同陌路的 家人 。有趣的是 ，主角出走與歸來的原因從未點 明 ，故事從頭到尾 ，只是聚焦在多年後重逢的一 個下午 。角色之間對白不斷，為著無謂的小事沒 完沒了的爭吵 ，說了很多卻又什麼都沒說出口 。 杜蘭以極大篇幅的近鏡特寫 ，逼使觀眾凝視演員 的細微表情 ，滾落的汗珠 ，若有所思的眼神 ，切 身感受幾位最親密的陌生人之間無法「 我口訴我 心 」的隔閡 ，還有親人之間糾纏不清的不安 、角 力 、憎恨和愛 。 杜蘭雖然自編自導多部作品 ，但其實他一直以來 最想做的 ，還是演員 。 《 愛的幻「 象 」》與《 慈母多惡兒 》是同年作品 ， 更是杜蘭看畢劇本後 ，不惜燃燒生命也要爭取演 出的角色（《 慈 》才殺青三天 ，他就要跑到《 愛 》的 劇組開拍了 ）。兩部電影 、兩個主角 、兩個兒子 ，就 像兩生花 ，同樣對母親有著近乎扭曲的愛 ，同樣 是個 born to run、born to die 的孩子 。不同的是 ， 《 愛 》的米高太瘋狂 、太聰明 ，對照史提夫因為被 愛而抱擁的純真 ，終究是無法想像的幸福⋯⋯ 我想 ，放下導筒 ，在鏡頭前無拘無束地表演 ，或 許才是杜蘭最自由 ，最想讓世人看見的樣子 。

十年前一樣 ，在黑暗之中 ，被感動（ 又或是傷害 ） 得一塌糊塗 。

這一刻 ，離別縱然酸的饅頭（sentimental），但 慶幸我們曾經擁有。不過 ，這年頭的影迷還是幸 福的 ，偶爾想念的時候 ，還可以約定於光影中（ 或 MOViE MOViE 上 ）再聚 。

After seeing Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s About Dry Grasses, I joked to my friend that no one writes jerks better than Ceylan. I was being mostly glib, but it’s true that Ceylan’s talent as a screenwriter lies in his talent in crafting fundamentally flawed men whose good intentions become their downfall. Even in some Western countries, Ceylan the writer would be banished to the stage, where some believe his penchant for long conversations is a better fit. However, that would be undermining the talent of Ceylan the director, who captures those conversations in intricately designed frames and fills his films with gorgeous cinematic views of the Turkish countryside. This month, see why Ceylan is one of the greatest cinematic moralists working today by catching his three latest masterpieces –About Dry Grasses, The Wild Pear Tree and Winter Sleep – on MOViE MOViE.

Set in a snowy countryside town, About Dry Grasses follows Samet, a seemingly devoted teacher who is actually desperate to transfer out of his rural posting. When a love letter by a teacher’s pet leads to him being accused of inappropriate behavior, Samet’s resentment of his students deepens. Partly inspired by co-writer Akın Aksu’s three-year teaching stint in the countryside, About Dry Grasses is an intriguing and unsentimental portrait of a man worn down by cynicism and contempt for the world at large. The film’s centerpiece conversation scene – between Samet and a female teacher that he may have feelings for – is one of Ceylan’s best dialogue scenes, and it even ends with a surprising fourth-wall-breaking twist.

Slightly more sympathetic than Samet, though equally blinded by pride, Aydin in Ceylan’s Palme d'Or-winning Winter Sleep is the epitome of the phrase “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.” A former actor who now lives among the picturesque rock formations of Cappadocia as a hotel proprietor and property owner, Aydin is an armchair social critic who moralizes in his newspaper column and to the people around him, unaware of his upper-class privilege. His muchyounger wife Nihal resents him for taking away her prime years and his undermining of her fundraising work, the one thing that gives her dull life meaning. With Ceylan wearing his Anton Chekov influence on his sleeves by taking inspiration from two of the author’s works, Winter Sleep features searing dialogue (the snide exchanges between Aydin and the two women in his life are the film’s highlights) and complex questions about economic disparity, toxic masculinity and unchecked privilege.

Sinan of The Wild Pear Tree has just returned home after graduating from university, but the aspiring writer already hopes to use his “autofiction meta” memoir to leave his hometown. The last thing he wants is to stay and become a teacher like his father Idris, a gambling addict who has failed all of his foolhardy schemes, including a dry well he has been trying to revive for years. Sinan is so confident in his book that he forces his self-righteous views on people he meets, like an old flame who has chosen to stay in town, a town official whom he hopes would sponsor his book, and in a particularly fiery exchange, a renowned author who sees through his entitlement. However, in a moving and ironic ending, Sinan is forced to reconsider how he sees his father.

Running well over three hours each, these three Ceylan films are dense and talky, but they are also rich, gripping and thematically complex. Ceylan’s films don’t have clear-cut heroes and villains, because they are sometimes one and the same. They also don’t offer answers because they ask difficult moral questions that are better debated than hastily answered. His characters may not always deserve our empathy, but Ceylan’s mastery of turning words into captivating cinema makes his film always worthy of attention.

「 我的夢想是在冰島的火山前唱歌 」̶̶ 日本唱 作人坂本美雨。早前美雨受邀來港表演，更演繹 了父親坂本龍一的作品《 鐵道員 》，但這並不是她 首次踏足香港 ，因為她曾經在香港有一個難忘的 童年家庭旅程。對於已經不在人世的父親，坂本 美雨說 ：「 電影和音樂給了我想像的自由 ，讓我 能在幻想中隨意飛翔。許多電影配樂都影響了我， 當然包括父親坂本龍一的音樂 ，但他的視野不止 於音樂 ，他關心的是整個世界 。」

從影多年的劉德華，較少演出大奸角，不過由他親自監製的動作片 《潛行》，卻一反過去的幕前形象，飾演高智慧罪犯——林陣安。

在《潛行》中，劉德華飾演一位表面是資深大律師、實際上卻是一 個道貌岸然的網絡犯罪大毒梟。

本片以劉德華的角色作為主軸，他在接受訪問時表示，希望可以像上世紀的港產電影《江湖情》一樣，盡量

在主角周圍，加入由新演員出演的配角，讓不同的演員有機會參與各種類型的電影製作。他堅信唯有親身參與， 才能讓經驗薪火相傳，令電影業繼續興盛。

演員陣容中夾雜新舊演員，令本片更有看頭及火花。由劉德華及林 子祥重唱的經典名曲《難為正邪定分界》，其實角色林陣安本身， 亦有「難為正邪定分界」的意味。劉德華在接受訪問時，透露劇本 是參考真實案件而創作的，而他在片中的角色，就是在正邪之間遊 走、於灰色地帶生存。林陣安是一名心狠手辣的大毒梟，就像歌詞 「控制命運任我巧安排」一樣，可是他與臥底修浩（林家棟 飾）之間的兄弟情，以及對妻子和遺腹女兒的疼愛， 令人難以想像他竟是如此作惡多端之人。林家棟在訪問中亦指出，這電影是不一樣的警匪片，作為臥底的他，與
