El Comité de Selección del Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá - BOGOSHORTS evaluó en 2022 más de 1600 cortometrajes provenientes de más de 90 países del mundo, a partir de la convocatoria oficial del festival, el contacto permanente con aliados estratégicos dedicados a la circulación de cortos a nivel internacional y la asistencia a festivales y mercados de cine, para seleccionar los 55 cortometrajes que componen las diferentes secciones de la Competencia Internacional de esta edición. Aunque este año en la Competencia Internacional de Videoclips predomina la música en habla hispana, cabe señalar que la presencia latinoamericana en las competencias principales es bastante modesta, comparada con otros años del festival. Sin embargo, nos enorgullece poder ofrecer al público del festival la oportunidad de ver por primera vez en Colombia obras que han recogido grandes críticas y reconocimientos en escenarios como Cannes, Venecia, Clermont-Ferrand, el BAFICI y Annecy. Si bien las historias en la Competencia Internacional de Ficción son bastante diversos, queremos resaltar que varias de ellas son protagonizadas por personajes LGTBIQ+, lo cual esperamos a que contribuya a naturalizar en pantalla estas perspectivas y generar identificación en el público más amplio con los conflictos en que se ven involucrados. En la Competencia Internacional Documental se conjugan una vez más la intimidad con un contexto más grande y colectivo, la Historia, entregando reflexiones sobre la familia, la migración y la muerte. En la Competencia Internacional de Animación, como siempre rica en técnicas, texturas, ritmos y estilos, se ha dividido en dos vertientes: una enfocada en las experiencias —no siempre placenteras y en ocasiones oscuras— de la infancia y la juventud, y otra que dirige nuestra mirada a las historias de personajes migrantes divididos entre su presente y añorado pasado. Finalmente, la Competencia Internacional Experimental ofrecerá al público más radical experiencias inclasificables en las que se verán envueltos por la potencia plástica de la imagen y el sonido. Desde el 2020, BOGOSHORTS ha sido incluido en el listado de festivales internacionales calificadores a los Premios Goya de la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España. Los cortometrajes españoles de ficción y documental seleccionados en nuestras competencias oficiales serán elegibles para las categorías de Mejor Cortometraje de Ficción y Documental de este importante reconocimiento de la industria cinematográfica del país ibérico. The Selection Committee of the Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá - BOGOSHORTS, evaluated in 2022 more than 1,600 short films from over 90 countries around the world, based on the festival’s official call for entries, permanent contact with strategic allies dedicated to the circulation of short films internationally and attendance to film festivals and markets, to select the 55 short films that make up this edition of the International Competition. Although this year the International Video Clip Competition is dominated by Spanish-language music, it should be noted that the Latin American presence in the main competitions is quite modest compared to other years of the festival. However, we are proud to be able to offer the audience the chance to see for the very first time in Colombia short films that have received great reviews and recognition in venues such as Cannes, Venice, Clermont-Ferrand, BAFICI and Annecy. Although the stories in the International Fiction Competition are quite diverse, we want to highlight that several of them are starring LGTBIQ+ characters, which we hope will contribute to naturalize these perspectives on screen and generate identification in the wider public with the conflicts in which they are involved. The International Documentary Competition once again combines intimacy with a larger and collective context, History, delivering reflections on family, migration and death. In the International Animation Competition, as always rich in techniques, textures, rhythms and styles, it has been divided into two aspects: one focused on the experiences —not always pleasant and sometimes dark— of childhood and youth, and the other that depicts the stories of migrant characters divided between their present and longed-for past. Finally, the International Experimental Competition will offer the most radical audiences unclassifiable experiences in which they will be involved by the plastic power of image and sound. Since 2020, BOGOSHORTS has been included in the list of international qualifying festivals for the Goya Awards of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Spanish fiction and documentary short films selected in our official competitions will be eligible for the Best Fiction and Best Documentary Short Film categories of this important recognition of the Iberian country’s film industry.
