Cortofilia

La ‘cortofilia’ es la palabra que hemos encontrado para denominar una extrema pasión por el cortometraje. Y aunque ese es uno de los principios que mueve todo lo que hace BOGOSHORTS, en esta sección nos permitimos explorar este amor a partir de acercamientos muy particulares. En También los enanos empezaron pequeños, manifestamos desde 2012 el orgullo que nos da encontrar que algunos de los realizadores que estrenaron su más reciente o primer largometraje en salas de cine del país en el último año también han realizado cortometrajes a lo largo de su carrera, y más aún títulos que han hecho parte de la historia misma de nuestro festival. En 2022, cerca de 60 largometrajes nacionales se habrán encontrado con el público en las salas alternativas y comerciales, después de conseguir grandes reconocimientos en escenarios internacionales como la Berlinale, la Semana de la Crítica de Cannes, San Sebastián y Tallinn Black Nights, entre otros. Esta muestra de seis cortometrajes es la oportunidad para descubrir el camino evolutivo que han vivido directores como Juan Sebastián Mesa, Laura Mora y Simón Mesa Soto antes de embarcarse en proyectos de este calibre. Además, las películas de estos directores son las nominadas para optar a la Santa Lucía a Mejor Largometraje Colombiano del Año, premio votado y entregado colectivamente por todos los directores y productores de todos los cortos de la Competencia Nacional del 20o BOGOSHORTS. El segundo componente tradicional de esta sección es un ‘largo de cortos’, una película antológica u ómnibus; una expresión del poder de las historias cortas, los retos que significa hacerlas y lo irresistible que resulta no hacer o disfrutar más de una. Este año volvemos al Teatro al aire libre La Media Torta para la sexta edición de nuestra Noche Frankenstein, una celebración del cine de género y la música más extrema. Presentaremos el estreno en Colombia de La Macabra Biblioteca del Dr. Lucchetti, largometraje dirigido por el brasileño Paulo Biscaia y estrenado en la más reciente edición del FANTASPOA, el más grande festival de fantasía, horror y ciencia ficción de Latinoamérica. Cine clase B del bueno: en blanco y negro, con detectives, vampiros, sangre roja como rubíes, monstruos y una misteriosa femme fatale. Una colección de episodios enmarcados en este experimento que actualiza los códigos del cine clásico de horror. Shortphilia’ is the word we’ve come up with to define an extreme passion for short films. And although this is one of the principles that drives everything BOGOSHORTS does, in this section we allow ourselves to explore this love from very particular approaches. In Even Dwarfs Started Small, we have been proud to find that some of the Colombian filmmakers who premiered their most recent or first feature film in theaters in the last year have also made short films throughout their careers, and we feel even prouder to find titles that have been part of the history of our very own festival. In 2022, close to 60 national feature films will have been released in alternative and commercial theaters, after achieving great recognition in international venues such as the Berlinale, Cannes Critics’ Week, San Sebastian and Tallinn Black Nights, among others. This exhibition of six short films is an opportunity to discover the evolutionary path that directors such as Juan Sebastián Mesa, Laura Mora and Simón Mesa Soto have taken before embarking on projects of this caliber. Plus, these directors’ recent feature films are the nominees for the Santa Lucia for Best Colombian Feature Film of the Year, an award voted by all the directors and producers of all the short films in the National Competition of the 20° BOGOSHORTS. The second traditional component of this section is a ‘feature-length film of shorts’, an anthology or omnibus film; an expression of the power of short stories, the challenges of making them and the irresistibility of not making or enjoying more than one. This year we return to La Media Torta open-air theater for the sixth edition of our Frankenstein Night, a celebration of genre cinema and the most extreme music. We will present the Colombian premiere of The Macabre Library of Dr. Lucchetti, a feature film directed by Brazilian Paulo Biscaia, which world-premiered at the most recent edition of FANTASPOA, the largest fantasy, horror and science fiction festival in Latin America. This is a B movies as good as you can see: black and white, detectives, vampires, ruby-red blood, monsters and a mysterious femme fatale. A collection of episodes framed in this experiment that updates the codes of classic horror cinema.
