Collections Competition

El formato del cortometraje se caracteriza por su versatilidad y la diversidad de historias, técnicas y estilos que los realizadores exploran en pocos minutos. Sin embargo, siempre resulta curioso la frecuencia con que se encuentran algunos temas o personajes en nuestra convocatoria anual, sin importar su origen. La Competencia Colecciones reúne algunos programas temáticos en torno a preguntas universales que parecen atravesar casi cualquier experiencia cultural, social y humana. Además, estos cortometrajes tienen el reto de cautivar y emocionar al público, pues cada asistente de esta sección podrá valorar las producciones vistas y votar para entregar de forma anónima la Santa Lucía del Premio del Público BOGOSHORTS. Este año, la Competencia Colecciones estará conformada por cuatro programas, quizás los caminos más habituales y emocionantes para nuestro público: El amor es corto, que expone relaciones tan diversas como los personajes involucrados —algunos de estos amantes apenas están conociéndose y otros ad portas de la ruptura definitiva—; en El cine dentro del cine, las películas mismas son el tema central de estas historias, ya sea que tengan lugar en un set oscuro y vacío como en una tienda de renta de VHS en los años 90; en Disidencias hemos reunido cuatro historias en las que el amor romántico es quizás el vínculo menos significativo, pues una palabra, un abrazo o un gesto bastan para que estos personajes de identidades de género y orientaciones sexuales disidentes no se sientan solxs en el mundo, y por último tenemos el programa Adolescentes, pues, sin importar si eres de Alemania, China, Canadá, Cuba, Colombia o Brasil, crecer y asomarse al mundo de la adultez será siempre toda una experiencia. Invitamos al público a dejarse llevar por estos programas y entregar la luz de Santa Lucía a uno de estos talentosos cineastas. Short films are characterized by its versatility and the diversity of stories, techniques and styles that filmmakers explore in just a few minutes. However, it is always curious how often certain subjects or characters are found in our annual call for entries, regardless of their origin. The Collections Competition brings together some thematic programs around universal questions that seem to cut across almost any cultural, social and human experience. Plus, these short films have the challenge to captivate and move the audience, as each attendee of this section will be able to evaluate the productions seen and vote anonymously and yet collectively award the Santa Lucia of the BOGOSHORTS Audience Award. This year, the Collections Competition will be made up of four programs, perhaps the most common and exciting paths for our audience: Love is Short, which exposes relationships as varied as the characters involved —some of these lovers are just getting to know each other and others are just about to break up—; in Movies inside Movies, films themselves are the central subject of these stories, whether they take place on a dark, empty set or in a VHS rental store in the 1990s; In Dissidences we have gathered four stories in which romantic love is perhaps the least significant link, because a word, a hug or a gesture is enough for these characters of dissident gender identities and sexual orientations not to feel alone in the world, and finally we have the program Teenagers, because, no matter if you are from Germany, China, Canada, Cuba, Colombia or Brazil, growing up and peeking into the world of adulthood will always be an experience. We invite the public to get carried away by these programs and pray for the light of Santa Lucia to make one of these talented filmmakers shine.
