SUPERIOR CRUISING EXPERIENCE
This new range, which contains the brand’s initials (FY) in its name, introduces a key innovation: a visual continuity between interiors and exteriors, connecting the boat to the horizon as never before. The exterior design and hulls are by Filippo Salvetti, while the interiors are the work of Ideaeitalia.
The first model is a 90’, with over 100 square meters of open-air living spaces and over 140 square meters of interiors, including a main deck and a sky lounge featuring particularly impressive volumes. Owners can also choose between different layouts for each deck. The new range features a brand-new generation of ultra-high efficiency hulls, offering a lot of comfort at low speeds and fast displacement performance over 20 knots. InFYnito 90 can be fitted with a pair of MAN V12 engines 1,800 hp driving the yacht to a top speed of 22 knots.
THE QUIET STRENGTH
Born from a fruitful collaboration between the Italian shipyard Rossinavi and French naval architect Philippe Briand, this superyacht is powered by diesel electric propulsion and propelled by pods to reduce the loss of energy between the engines and navigation speed.
Alchemy is an elegant 66m tri-deck motor yacht commissioned by a private client who has very much been involved in every aspect of the design project and has commissioned this with a brief to focus on the design of the outdoor areas and wellness aspects of the yacht. Alchemy’s silhouette is all about proportioned balance and exudes tranquility. The lifestyle nature of Alchemy is immediately visible from the generous outdoor square meterage (over 330 sqm) well distributed across three different decks. The interior design of Alchemy, curated by the Venice-based practice headed up by Enrico Gobbi, is characterized by a calm and elegant atmosphere that influences all decks

and areas. The main amenities include a Jacuzzi, numerous sun pads, bar and entertaining areas together with a barbecue positioned near one of the dining spaces. The bridge deck features a salon and another al fresco dining area for more formal occasions while the main deck exposes a large cockpit. Alchemy’s capacity to carry all sorts of equipment and toys on board is remarkable. The garage area has enough space to store a vast array of equipment from paddleboards to windsurfs, water skis, two tenders and mountain bikes for exploration trips on land.
SMOOTH AND SLEEK
Made of fibreglass, the yacht has three decks plus a generous sundeck. The silhouette features
a vertical bow, from which sleek, modern and elegant lines descend in a gentle gradient to water level and form a XL swim platform. Like previous Oasis 40m, exterior styling is by British design studio RWD, a familiar name in international yacht design circles. The interior design is signed by architects Bonetti/Kozerski, the prominent New York-based firm that has introduced influences on board derived from the architecture of residential projects. Bonetti/ Kozerski have harmonised the spaces on board Oasis 34M, achieving a balance between interiors and exteriors and bringing the naturalness of outdoor teak indoors to create a relaxing setting dominated by walnut. With excellent hull efficiency, the yacht offers a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.

What’s new
A TIMELESS STYLE
The new Riva success is penned by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, from Officina Italiana Design, working in partnership with the Strategic Product Committee led by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. With a length overall of 25.29m and a maximum beam of 6.08 m, Riva 82’ Diva boasts a sporty silhouette including the distinctive shape of the front windshield and bright stainless-steel details. The 82-foot yacht takes new solutions on board like the higher and safer side gunwales with painted composite profiles instead of traditional steel handrails. But the real stars of Riva 82’ are outdoor areas, designed to put guests in close contact with the sea offer a yachting experience that takes conviviality and relaxation to the next level. The boat’s main attraction is a spacious beach club featuring two large bulwarks (1.6m) that swing down to create lateral terraces. Interiors are in classic Riva style, featuring highly polished furnishings and contrasting pale and dark colours. Italian walnut or glossy chocolate wenge are the signature wood. There are four cabins on the lower deck, all with en suite private bathrooms featuring Corian or Statuarietto marble tops: the full-
beam owner’s cabin astern, the VIP cabin forward, flooded with light through the skylight formed by the glass floor of the walkway to the forward lounge area, and two double cabins, providing accommodation for a total of 8 guests. The crew quarters (2 cabins - 3 beds) are amidships and accessed via a dedicated walkway on the side of the superstructure. Regarding the engines, owner can decide whether to install a pair of MAN V12 1800 for a top speed of 29 knots or two MAN V12 1900 engines that drive the yacht to a top speed of about 31 knots.
FAST AND LIGHT
This 50m project is the new top of the range among innovative and hi-tech yachts,
which have always been the hallmark of the famous Italian brand. Designed by Francesco Paszkowski, the Fast50 is inspired by the shipyard’s historical “trendsetters” like Pachamama, Monokini and Rush models. Design of the stern, in particular draws on some of the innovative elements introduced in the more traditional line: developing on 2 levels, with the gunwale folding to convert into a swimming platform, the aft area is perfect to enjoy life in close contact with the ocean, also thanks to the sunbeds in the form of “chaise longues” that offer an exclusive, breathtaking view. Four MTU 2000M96L engines give a maximum speed of 30 knots at this light aluminum fast displacement hull. Delivery of the first unit is scheduled for 2026.

What’s new
A LUXURY TRANSATLANTIC ATMOSPHERE
Delivered in 2014 by Lürssen, the 95.2m custom motor yacht Whisper (ex-Kismet) features an interior designed by Reymond Langton Design and an exterior styled by Espen Oeino. Exceptional features include two helicopter pads, a private observation platform with an outdoor bed created for stargazing. The sun deck offers a swimming pool with integrated Jacuzzi and the intelligently formed aft end of the pool doubles as the skylight of the lift shaft. For the interiors, the owner’s watchword was to create a “feeling of relaxed opulence”, with “Champagne & Caviar” as the theme... The main salon has an Art Deco atmosphere, with a staircase reminiscent of the great transoceanic liners. Powered by two 2,720 hp Caterpillars, the boat cruises at 14 knots, 17 knots maximum speed, and has a range of 6,000 nautical miles, enough to cross the oceans.
NEW ERA OF SPORT-YACHT
The first GTX116 was launched in 2023, marking the beginning of a new era for the Italian brand. This is the result of collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee led by Piero Ferrari, the design firm headed by Fulvio De Simoni, and the Group’s Engineering Department. This motoryacht confirms its sporty DNA and enhances the concept of comfort by providing plenty of open-air space, areas designed to be in direct contact with the water, and outstanding liveability guaranteed by the five-cabin layout. Pershing GTX116 is painted a new shade of grey, with a special shade of blue for the deckhouse. The first unit was equipped with a triple water jet propulsion system, which can be paired with three MAN V12 2000 engines each rated 2,000 hp for a top speed of 35.5 knots. Standard engines are three MAN V12 1800 units rated 1,800 hp.

TASAKI
TASAKI WAS THE WORLD’S FIRST PRODUCER OF AKOYA PEARLS. (RIGHT) “DANGER HORN” BRACELET IN 18-CARAT YELLOW GOLD WITH AKOYA PEARLS.
An exception to nature
LONG REGARDED AS MIDDLE-CLASS, PEARLS ARE BEING TREATED TO A NEW LEASE OF LIFE IN INCREASINGLY AUDACIOUS JEWELLERY DESIGNS.
Traditionally seen as divine creations, pearls have been a source of fascination since the dawn of time. They symbolize femininity, love, perfection, but also purity. Gabrielle Chanel was passionately fond of them. They in fact formed part and parcel of her look. She wore them all the time, in rings, bracelets, earrings and brooches. The designer multiplied the number of rows of pearls she would wear as a sautoir necklace by day, or cool and casual, down her back, in the evenings. These treasures of nature are inevitably to be found at the core of the identity of Chanel, which reinvents them to infinity. Offering pieces adorned with cultured pearls gleaming on white gold set with diamonds, Chanel’s new high jewellery “Tweed de Chanel’’ collection is a perfect example.
Natural pearls are extremely rare. On average, only one oyster in 15,000 produces a pearl, rarity which always made them particularly precious. Faced by rising demand and real difficulty in obtaining them, an alternative made its appearance back in 1893. Kokichi Mikimoto, a visionary Japanese jeweller, founder of the firm bearing his name, invented a revolutionary procedure: the culture
of pearls. This ingenious technique consists of inserting a nucleus, usually a round kernel, inside the oyster. In reaction to this foreign body, the mollusk then secretes “nacre”, or “mother-of-pearl”, around itself, thus giving birth to a cultured pearl.
Forty years later, jeweller Shunsaku Tasaki created the very first pearl farm. Now the world’s leading producer of Akoya pearls, Tasaki cultivates these precious gemstones on its own farms in the Kujuku islands, within the administrative county of Nagasaki. It has extended its expertise to encompass pearls from the South Seas, which it produces on its farm in Burma, and the famous Mabe pearls, renowned for their distinctive dome, or “blister” shape.

Just as diamonds are assessed in compliance with the famous “4Cs” of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) – Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat –, pearls are also the subject of a rigorous classification system. Their beauty and value are determined by means of six essential criteria: their lustre (or capacity for reflecting the light), the perfection of their surfaces, their shape, colour (ranging from iridescent white to nuances of pink, yellow, blue or black), the thickness of the mother-ofpearl and, finally, their diametre (the largest usually being more rare and costly).
Far from the classic, middle-class image with which they were once associated, pearls are now the subject of bold creativity unleashed by jewellery designers all over the world. Chaumet, for example, enhances them with plays on shading and asymmetry in its “Joséphine Aigrette” collection, while Tiffany & Co. combines them with its iconic “Hardwear” medallions. As for Mikimoto, it dares to present an astonishing association of pearls with safety pins in its partnership with Comme des Garçons. Tasaki then explores contrasts between the softness of pearls and sharply pointed curves in its new “danger horn” creations, which notably account for today’s modern, uninhibited image of the pearl. Tasaki has, in fact, already been working for more than 15 years with fashion designers to breathe life into collections which overthrow the codes of traditional jewellery.
All creations which are highly esteemed but would have been unimaginable a few years ago. And all echoing the innovative spirit of Dinh Van who released the pearl in the 1970’s from its straitjacket with the exquisite “Two Pearls” ring he created for Pierre Cardin.

PASSIONATE ABOUT HER PROFESSION AND HER DESIRE TO BRING EXCEPTIONAL PLACES TO LIFE, EMILY NEUGARTEN HAS WELCOMED CLIENTS TO HER STUDIO IN MONACO’S “GOLDEN SQUARE” SINCE 2014.
Born in Belgium, what brought you to Monaco?
After pursuing my studies in Los Angeles, I was lucky to enjoy multiculturalism that I missed on my return to Belgium. Monaco seemed self-evident, to combine family closeness with the cultural diversity I find so enriching in everyday life. We mainly work in the Principality, in residential and commercial sectors, though my international clients invite me to follow them to other destinations: St Barts, Miami, the Bahamas, Megève, Saint-Tropez.
How do you define your style?
Both contemporary and timeless, with care for the tiniest detail. I am attentive to light, colours, textures, material..., though my signature consists of plays on perspectives, natural shades, textural blends. Monochromy too, occasionally. Not forgetting made-to-measure. Everything is designed by my studio, giving me total mastery over my projects. The aim is to offer a place for living which corresponds perfectly to my clients’ expectations, so they feel at home as soon as they move in. It is then that I most appreciate my work. We are artists, we live and evolve for the pleasure of pleasing others!
And the future…?
Continuing to satisfy my clients with love for my work, giving life to original settings which resemble me while corresponding to them. Finally, seeing things and my ideas through to the end: I would ultimately like to create my own line of furniture and objects in collaboration with studios and artists with whom, over time, I have built such close ties.

140 YEARS AFTER THE LAUNCH OF ITS FIRST LUXURY TRAINS, THE ORIENT EXPRESS LEGEND CONTINUES WITH THE UNVEILING OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST SAILING SHIP.
Orient Express, a name that evokes travel, luxury and a certain art of living. In 1867, Belgian engineer Georges Nagelmackers boarded the transatlantic ships connecting Europe to America and set off on a journey of discovery to the United States. Fascinated by the grandeur of these huge ships, the founder of Orient Express trains explored the luxurious travelers’ suites, with their rich and sumptuous decor, adorned with exceptional marquetry. He experienced the social scene in the restaurants and the unique ambiance of the lounges, libraries and entertainment venues. This sea travel experience would later inspire the 1883 launch of his now legendary train: the Orient Express, the quintessential luxury. More than 140 years later, history repeats itself with the launch of this project, which
will see the construction of two ships at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France. This extraordinary sailing yacht of the future with spectacular and luxury interiors will set sail in 2026.
“With Orient Express Silenseas, we are beginning a new chapter in our history, taking the experience and excellence of luxury travel and transposing it onto the world’s most beautiful seas. This exceptional sailing yacht, with roots in Orient Express’ history, will offer unparalleled service and refined design spaces, reminiscent of the golden age of mythical sailing cruises.
Innovation is at the heart of this ultramodern ship that will revolutionize the maritime world with new technology to meet today’s sustainability challenges. It is a boat designed to make dreams a reality, a showcase for the best of French savoir-faire,” said Sebastien Bazin, CEO of French hotel group Accor, during the launch of the project, in January 2023.
THIS EXTRAORDINARY SAILING YACHT OF THE FUTURE WITH LUXURY INTERIORS WILL SET SAIL IN 2026.
Accor is a world leading hospitality group consisting of 5,300 properties and 10,000 food and beverage venues throughout 110 countries…
Born in 2018, Orient Express Silenseas will support a sophisticated hull, and the installation of three SolidSail rigs, a revolutionary 1,500-square-meter unit wind propulsion system. Combined with a hybrid propulsion system running on liquefied natural gas (LNG), “Silenseas will thus become the ship of reference in terms of ‘environmentally friendly operation and design’,” says Laurent Castaing, Managing Director, Chantiers de l’Atlantique. Famous architect Maxime d’Angeac will design the interior layout and decor and Nantesbased design company Stirling Design
International will handle the exterior architecture. Hetland Maritime also assisted Accor in creating the project and in the ongoing discussions with Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France.
A 220-meter-long ocean treasure with a tonnage of 22,300 UMS, Orient Express Silenseas will feature 54 Suites measuring on average 70-square-meters, including a monumental 1,415-square-meter Presidential Suite (including a 530-squaremeter private terrace), two swimming pools including a lap pool, two restaurants and a speakeasy bar. A tribute to artists and culture, Silenseas ships will invite guests to experience incredible shows in its Amphitheatre-Cabaret and a private recording studio will give a voice to the most beautiful melodies. This unique travel experience, guided by the winds, will feature spa treatments, meditation sessions and stopover explorations to discover cultural treasures that allow guests to completely unplug from reality and stop time. Inspired by the Golden Age of the French Riviera, Orient Express Silenseas will echo the glorious era when writers, artists, painters, princesses and movie stars spent time between MonteCarlo, the beaches of Saint-Tropez, Cap d’Antibes, Cannes and its famous Croisette and discovered a refinement tinged with exquisite insouciance and “joie de vivre”, inviting them to extreme escapades.

SINCE 2005, THE MONACO YACHT SHOW HAS BEEN COMMITTED TO AN ECO-FRIENDLY APPROACH AND HAS BEEN RAISING AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AMONG THE YACHTING COMMUNITY.
From September 25 to 28, the 2024 edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, the world’s leading yachting event, takes place with more than 120 yachts, nearly 600 exhibitors and several thousand local and foreign visitors. For many years, the MYS organization has been committed to respecting the pact set forth by the Government of Monaco, both during preparations throughout the year and during the Show, the aim of which is to reduce Monaco’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This pact consists in a Charter of Commitment that unites all local players around three main energy transition topics: mobility, waste and energy. Annual action plans indicate each member’s objectives for the energy transition, highlighting the amounts of greenhouse gas emissions they will avoid.
“The Monaco Yacht Show has been at the forefront of raising environmental awareness since joining the Carbon Neutral program in 2005. Our pioneering approach to sustainability led to the establishment of the Sustainability Hub past years. As one of the industry’s major voices, we fully embrace our social responsibility.
“THE MONACO YACHT SHOW HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF RAISING ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS. ˮ
GAËLLE TALLARIDA, MANAGING DIRECTOR
This dedicated area for eco-friendly yachting alternatives is part of our extended sustainability program, which encompasses the entire show’s logistics and layout here in the port of Monaco. We aim to support exhibitors, service providers, and visitors alike in finding viable solutions to environmental challenges,” says Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show.
Since year 2010, the MYS has supported the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (FPA2) and its program of international environmental actions. Each year, the Monaco Yacht Show and the Informa Group (which owns the boat show) make donations to the Sovereign Prince’s Foundation. Last year, the MYS contributed to the preservation of ice core heritage through the “Ice Memory” program. Its objective is to study climate change and its effects by preserving data from the world’s glaciers (4-year project ending in 2025, led by the Grenoble Alpes University Foundation, France).
In 2022, the Sustainability Hub was created to showcase sustainable solutions and eco-friendly projects in order to minimize superyachts’ environmental footprint. Also, the yachting event helps promote the annual London2Monaco cycling race organized by the Blue Marine Foundation. The race – welcomed to Monaco by the Sovereign Prince himself – is a promotional fundraising campaign aimed at financing the foundation’s environmental projects. All of its initiatives and projects are helping promote viable pro-environmental solutions and truly innovative projects in the yachting industry.

" THE AIM IS ALWAYS TO SURPRISE THE OWNER AND HIS GUESTS ABOARD THE SUPERYACHT! "
A LOVE OF THE SEA AND FINE FOOD
A native of the South of France with a passion for gastronomy, Eric Vugliano began his career at the age of 23. After working for a long time in Burgundy, the young chef decided to set up his own restaurant. Some fifteen years ago, he decided to take to the sea and enter the exclusive world of superyacht chefs. It’s a demanding profession that he pursues year-round, mainly in the Mediterranean aboard a 50-meter yacht based in Monaco.
A culinary journey with a superyacht chef
FRENCH ERIC VUGLIANO, 47, FROM HYÈRES (VAR) HAS BEEN CHEF DE CUISINE ON BOARD SUPERYACHTS FOR OVER 15 YEARS. HE TALKS TO US ABOUT THIS EXCITING AND DEMANDING DREAM JOB.
What is your professional background?
I started my career at the age of 22, working in Michelin-starred restaurants and on board luxury hotel barges in Burgundy with an American clientele, which enabled me to learn the English language. I also managed my own restaurant, then moved into the yachting world as a chef, cooking on board large yachts for several owners and charters with an international clientele. This enabled me to acquire a wide range of culinary skills. Today, I’m Chef de Cuisine on board Altair, a 50-meter yacht –the perfect size – based in Monaco. I’ve been cooking at sea and onboard yachts for 17 years!
What does it take to cook on a superyacht?
First, you have to learn to live in a smaller crew cabin and to work in small spaces, often alone, anticipate the owner’s requests and adapt to the tastes, demands, whims and cultures of the people on board. As you konow, you don’t cook the same way for European, Arab, Asian, Russian or American guests. There are also specific diets (gluten free, vegan…) and allergic constraints.
In any case, it’s important at every port of call to stock up on fresh produce of the highest possible quality. You need to be able to refuse deliveries if the meat, fish, shellfishes or vegetables are not up to your kitchen’s premium standards. Finally, you are dependent on the weather, sea conditions and changes in route, which can upset your provisioning schedule. On the quayside, you may be asked to serve a meal for 50 people! It’s a demanding but fascinating job.
What are your culinary specialties and what are the latest trends?
My various charter experiences as a Chef have enabled me to cook for guests from totally different cultures and countries, with totally different tastes. That’s why I can create Chinese, Indian, Thai, French or Italian dishes, for example. Every year, I have the privilege, thanks to the owner, of taking courses to perfect my skills and learn how to cook original dishes, such as the famous desserts by French pastry chef Cedric Grolet using his 3D molds. I’m thinking of his lemon dessert with a mango insert. Mediterranean fusion cuisine, mixing Greek and Lebanese dishes, is currently very much in demand. The aim is always to surprise the owner and his guests aboard the superyacht!
THIS REVOLUTIONARY TRIMARAN PROJECT IS THE BRAINCHILD OF TWO FRENCH ARCHITECTS.
Back to the future
COMFORT AND XXL SPACE ARE THE COMMON FEATURES OF THESE THREE PROJECTS, WHICH ARE SET TO MAKE THEIR MARK ON THE WORLD OF YACHTING AND MULTIHULLS.
A CONCEPT BASED AROUND A WING
AWA 78
Two architects are designing this eco-responsible charter trimaran around a 240m2 ACCWing for greater comfort and performance. This revolutionary trimaran project is the brainchild of two French architects. Loïc Goepfert is a naval architect specializing in ocean racing and fast cruising. Today, he works in collaboration with Guillaume Verdier for the Gitana Ultim, 11th Hour Ocean Race and Magic Carpet Maxi IRC teams. Julien Boucher is currently working with a number of naval tech start-ups (Alloy, ACCWing, Taaroa...) and is also proposing new approaches to conception and design on a number of offshore racing projects, including the Gitana Ultim, alongside Loïc and Guillaume Verdier. With the Awa 78 project, they set new standards by initiating a revolutionary design for the trimaran’s mast. The finesse of the camber adjustments and the 360° rotation of the 240 m2 wing ensure that the incidence to the apparent wind is always optimal, allowing the vessel to sail on the power of the wind alone in almost all conditions.
This decarbonized “vegetal propulsion” is part of a drive to reduce CO2 emissions. It’s only a short step from there to solar panels and electric propulsion, making it possible to go down the road to zero emissions. The extreme simplicity of the ACCWing rig’s adjustments means that the boat can be maneuvered with just two crew members! On board, the spacious living area accommodates six large cabins, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Aft, four retractable platforms allow guests to enjoy the sea via a 60m2 beach-club.
A TRANSATLANTIC, ECO-FRIENDLY CATAMARAN
40M
This new power-cat rewrites the rules with its bold architecture and a new approach to travel. A selfsufficient, and autonomous electric catamaran for long private expeditions.
The world’s leading manufacturer of luxury sailing and power multihulls has developed this radical new 40M Explorer model, designed to take its owners further off the beaten track. With slimmer, more efficient hulls,
WITH SLIMMER, MORE EFFICIENT HULLS, IT TAKES MUCH LESS ENERGY TO PROPEL THEM AT SPEED THROUGH THE WATER.
it takes much less energy to propel them at speed through the water. By slicing into the water ahead of the yacht, the bows take the sting out of the incoming waves. This makes for a more comfortable guest experience by reducing pitching and lessening the energy needed to propel the yacht. With Sunreef’s ultralight composite build and a state-of-the-art electric powertrain this electric boat can cross oceans. The 40M Sunreef has two electric engines, each 540 kW, enabling it to run at 10-knot cruising speed. With a length of 131.2 feet (40m) and a beam of 36.7 feet (11.20m), the catamaran can accommodate 10 people + 7 crew members. Sunreef’s proprietary solar skin turns every external surface of the yacht’s hull and superstructure into a power source, generating enough power to run every system on board, from the AC and the icemakers to the Jacuzzi and the audiovisual equipment.
On board, you’ll find a huge bathing platform aft, which transforms into a beach club for lounging, a watersports launchpad or a dive shop. Huge fold-down wings here broaden the platform to run round the corner of the boat. Four large bright and luxury guest cabins fill the main deck, while the upper deck is largely devoted to the master’s suite, creating a separate space of serenity.
A IN-BUILD 114-METER SUPERYACHT
ARWEN BY DÖRRIES YACHTS
Originally known as Project ELF, superyacht Arwen is currently under construction at the Dörries Yachts shipyard’s facilities in Bremerhaven, Germany. Arwen was commissioned to Dörries Yachts, a yacht builder based in Germany, by an American Tech Billionaire. Previously known as Project ELF, the 114-meter superyacht (374’) is announced for launch in 2026, features a futuristic exterior design with highly technological features. The naval architecture was designed by the Dutch firm Azure Yacht Design, while the exterior and interior design was entrusted to the US office Píndaros, assisted by French studio Champeau Wilde and British Andy Waugh. Arwen showcases an amazing infinity pool among other extravagant features. The aft deck pool is 20.1 meters long and is fitted with a glass edge that creates the infinity pool effect! Moreover, a 43-foot section can be hydraulically raised to create extra space on the deck. Inside the superyacht, the layout offers five en suite cabins and a luxe VIP for guests. PREVENTING THE EXTINCTION OF CORAL REEFS IS CRUCIAL FOR MARINE BIODIVERSITY.
Coral Reef Breakthrough: rescue operation
LAUNCHED IN 2023, THE CORAL REEF BREAKTHROUGH PROJECT PURSUES THE GOAL OF SAVING CORAL REEFS, GUARDIANS
OF MARINE LIFE, TO ENSURE A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.
No more fish, no fruit either…, the scarcity affecting the little island of Vaiana nestling in the Pacific in the movie Disney could well be the scenario played out tomorrow. In this era of climate change, preventing the extinction of coral reefs is crucial for marine biodiversity and the future of the planet. Real lungs for the ocean, coral reefs cover less than 1% of the seabed but provide shelter for 25% of marine life. Caused by rising temperatures, the acidification of the oceans, overfishing, and pollution, their decline is indeed alarming. A situation which has already resulted in the disappearance of 14% of corals since 2009. According to scientists, if no action is taken, 90% of our coral reefs could disappear definitively by the year 2050. In the light of this forecast, an urgent appeal was launched in 2023 in the guise of the “2030 Coral Reef Breakthrough” project, undertaken by the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI), a scientific organization comprised of 101 members including 45 countries, in partnership with the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) and the High-Level Climate Champions (HLCC). Its goal is to safeguard the future of at least 125,000 sq.km of coral reefs at shallow depths.
BLUE ODYSSEY
Far from throwing a single bottle into the sea, this ambitious initiative revolves around four main actions which are both achievable and measurable: putting an end to threats (pollution, destructive coastal development, and overfishing); turning marine treasures into sanctuaries (by doubling the surface areas of protected coral reefs); innovating in order to carry out restoration (developing smart solutions on a large scale to treat reefs undergoing deterioration); and finally, by mobilizing 12 billion dollars (public and private funds) by 2030 in order to turn this farreaching resuscitation into reality. A vital investment aiming for the survival of over half a billion people who depend on these gems in the oceans. The global success of this mission also involves the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly that of life below water (SDG14), which consists of conserving and using the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development purposes. Over and beyond the protection of coral reefs, this project above all emphasizes the mobilization necessary to confront current environmental challenges. Thanks to this initiative, coral reefs could not only survive, but also prosper, offering future generations the chance to discover these underwater treasures. For protecting the riches of the oceans also means saving the future of humanity in its entirety.

SET SAIL FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES, TO THE ISLANDS OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA, THERE WHERE A CONSTANTLY RISING NUMBER OF YACHTING ENTHUSIASTS OPT TO MAKE STOPOVERS EACH WINTER.
Just imagine yourself sailing on crystalline turquoise waters, caressed by the breeze of the Caribbean, to arrive at St John’s harbour. Before your eyes, multicoloured rooftops stretch across the hill, overlooking a sparkling bay playing host to luxury yachts dancing on the rippling waves. Welcome to Antigua and Barbuda, a heavenly archipelago which cannot fail to enchant you for its sumptuous scenery, rich cultural heritage, and its very peaceful insular lifestyle. The capital, St John’s, lays claim to a fascinating past. Let yourself be carried away by its authentic atmosphere and stroll through its streets lined with colonial houses in pretty pastel shades. Bearing witness to the island’s rich past, St John’s Cathedral in majestic Baroque style is an unmissable port-of-call.
Formerly colonized by the Spanish, French and English, Antigua and Barbuda are today a real little corner of paradise, renowned for their idyllic beaches. One saying in fact tells us that here, there are “365 beaches, one for each day of the year”. So where do you start your exploration?
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA HAS “365 BEACHES, ONE FOR EACH DAY OF THE YEAR”.
VIEW OF GALLEON BEACH AND THE ENGLISH HARBOUR FROM SHIRLEY HEIGHTS
To the north of the capital, Dickenson Bay invites you to benefit from its fine white sand extending over almost one kilometre. Edged by luxury hotels, restaurants and beach clubs, it is one of the most popular and lively beaches on the island. To the south, fans of surfing meet up at the Galley Bay Beach, while the beach of Ffryes offers a wilder backcloth, more conducive to the observation of pelicans. A little further on, Darkwood Bay, with its unimpeded view of the island of Montserrat, is particularly appreciated by the locals. Though if you have to choose just one beach, opt for Half Moon Bay, on the eastern side of the island. Surrounded by luxuriant vegetation which contrasts with the immaculate sand and turquoise seawater, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean.
And if this is not enough, Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda – reached by ferry in an hour-and-a-half –plays host to one of the world’s most famous beaches: Barbuda Pink Sand Beach. Imagine pearly pink sand leading to crystal-clear water, an idyllic setting for a tuba diving session on the coral reef. Fans of bird watching are not forgotten: at the heart of the Codrington Lagoon National Park, the Frigate Bird Sanctuary is home to an impressive colony of these majestic birds.
As everywhere else in the Antilles, the waters around Antigua brim with extraordinary underwater fauna and flora. Spots such as Jettias Wreck, the Pillars of Hercules, and the Mary Kay Reef are among the most popular for underwater diving. Reef sharks, rays and turtles await you for unforgettable immersion in a truly natural aquarium.
Finally, yacht-lovers will discover paradise in Antigua. In just a few years, the English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour have become essential destinations for fans of yachts and nautical racing. Launched in December with the Antigua Yacht Show (the next edition to be held from December 4th to 9th, 2024), the season continues in February with the RORC Caribbean 600 (from February 24th, 2025), in April with the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta (April 16th to 21st, 2025), and celebrates its grand finale in May with the Antigua Sailing Week, one of the most important annual regattas in the Caribbean. So what are you waiting for to fall for the charm of Antigua and Barbuda? This archipelago with so many treasures promises an unforgettable stay beneath the Caribbean sun.

Steeped in rich heritage, this arid land plays host to AlUla, a picturesque region whose origins date back millions of years, shaped by the erosion of volcanic rocks. In this spectacular decor, narrow canyons and mineral structures emerge like silent sentinels from a long-gone era. Once a crossroads for trading routes, AlUla is recognized today for its outstanding cultural legacy, exemplified by monumental tombs hollowed out of the rock at the heart of the ancient city of Hegra, the first site in Saudi Arabia to become part of UNESCO’s World Heritage.
Since the year 2020, this enchanting oasis has also served as a new playground for artists from all different horizons thanks to the AlUla Arts Festival – an event held by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) and the French Agency for the Development of AlUla (Afabulula).

RANA HADDAD & PASCAL HACHEM, REVERIES, DESERT X ALULA 2024
Their ambition is to promote art and culture by providing support for creative industries while preserving the region’s natural heritage for future generations. Over the medium and long term, it also aims to establish the region as the leading tourist destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, drawing close on two million visitors per year by 2035. A wonderful way of casting light on this territory which, until recently, was still unexplored by travellers.
THE ART OF SCULPTURE, BETWEEN MONOLITHS AND THE SKY
In just four years, this international festival has become an unmissable get-together for curators and art lovers. Each year, its exhibitions, held outdoors, invite contemporary artists from all four corners of the world, of all disciplines combined, to unfurl their creativity in this extraordinary setting. Their monumental works adorn the ancient oasis of AlUla, creating a living dialogue amidst wafting breezes between art and nature, past and present. Also on the programme, movie screenings, performances, creative workshops, and other activities. For devoted art-lovers, this unique experience also provides the opportunity to discover the treasures offered by the region from an artistic perspective.
THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FESTIVAL IS UNDOUBTEDLY “DESERT X ALULA”, HELD EVERY TWO YEARS.
The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly “Desert X AlUla”, held every two years. In 2024, the third edition of this biennial – organized by curators Maya El Khalil and Marcello Dantas, under the artistic direction of Raneem Farsi and Neville Wakefield – unravelled the mysteries of the invisible. Entitled “In the Presence of Absence”, its theme invited visitors to reflect on that which cannot be seen. Behind their apparent immobility, deserts conceal unsuspected richness, blanketing a teeming life which murmurs its secrets to those who really want to learn them. Surrounded by this total silence, artists have thus been called upon to explore the notion of the unspoken. In all, sixteen works of art are on display, from the Wadi AlFann desert to the black lava stones in the Harrat Uwayrid volcanic reserve, via the AlMansyah Plaza, playing host to the railway station of AlUla. Remarkable artworks on show include that of South Korean artist Kimsooja. Entitled To Breathe, this contemplative installation represents a circular labyrinth whose iridescent walls reflect colours in the surrounding area, revealing nuances in the chromatic circle. Another striking exhibit, Reveries consists of gigantic sculptures entirely built of rammed earth and comprised of jars piled one on top of the other. By Lebanese artists Rana Haddad and Pascal Hachem, these columns rise towards the sky, giving a play on contrast with the surrounding landscape.

IN OSMOSIS WITH NATURE
In line with its Californian counterpart –an arts festival held every two years in the Coachella Valley in the USA –, Desert X AlUla surfs on the sand of land art, questioning the relationship between Man and nature in the era of environmental awareness. In 2026, the site of Wadi AlFann will unveil unprecedented immersion in the arts to the public: 65 sq.km of desert magnificently playing host to permanent artworks.

Watchmaking… an art in itself!
TRUE TO THEIR SPIRIT OF INNOVATION, WATCHMAKERS REGULARLY COLLABORATE WITH RENOWNED ARTISTS TO CREATE EXCLUSIVE TIMEPIECES PROPOSED IN LIMITED EDITIONS.
If you ask devotees of haute horlogerie about the most eye-catching collaborations that have come to light over the past few years, they will most certainly mention Richard Mille and French graffiti artist Cyril Kongo, TAG Heuer and American street artist Alec Monopoly, or Corum and French artist Aiiroh. Another absolute must is the association between Zenith and Felipe Pantone, whose unique style combines graffiti, kinetic and optical art. This partnership gave rise to two watch creations high in colour. For the first, this SpanishArgentinian artist revisited Zenith’s most sophisticated chronograph, the “Defy 21”, contributing design based on the principle of interferential colours, with coating comprised of particles of silicium to reproduce the full spectrum of visible light. By fine-tuning this gradient of PVD rainbow shades, Zenith achieved two world firsts in the watchmaking arena. For the second model, Felipe Pantone borrowed inspiration from his successful series of “Planned Iridescence” artworks. Audacious colours, metallic features, shapes and nuances designed mathematically to create optical illusions: this limited edition of the ‘‘ Defy Extreme” transcends the frontiers of analogical and virtual worlds by presenting a chromatic hologram which only appears under certain lighting conditions... Fascinating!

More recently, Hublot has been the watchmaker drawing attention for its collaborations with famous international artists, who include Carlos Cruz-Diez of Venezuela, American street artist Shepard Fairey (aka Obey), French sculptor Richard Orlinski with whom the brand has worked for the past eight years, but also Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The success encountered by these last two partnerships has been such that their collaborations have been renewed year after year, always extending the boundaries of creativity. In fact, at the end of 2023, Hublot unveiled its fifth piece co-invented with the icon of Japanese Pop Art: the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire. This model adopts the artist’s emblematic motif, a flower with 12 petals on a case made of… sapphire! Takashi Murakami then adds a personal touch by humanizing the dial with a pair of eyes and a very wide smile, making this extraordinary timepiece in a limited edition of only 50 pieces even more special.
THESE COLLABORATIONS,
MUCH PRIZED BY COLLECTORS, BEAR WITNESS TO A SHARED DESIRE TO EXPLORE NEW TERRITORIES.

MB&F
THE M.A.D.1 ‘‘TIME TO LOVE’’ WATCH BEARS THE THREE SIGNATURE COLOURS OF DESIGNER JEAN-CHARLES DE CASTELBAJAC.
Beforehand, it was the bright, clear colours of the flower that had stolen the show, notably in the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow, set with 487 stones including rubies, sapphires, amethysts and tsavorites, reproducing the nuances of a rainbow.
Independent watchmakers are also making their marks, such as MB&F (Maximilian Büsser and Friends) renowned for their avant-garde timepieces. Their latest offering, the M.A.D.1 “Time to Love”, produced in collaboration with French artist and designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac –a first for MB&F – is a perfect illustration. In a limited edition of 999 pieces, this watch bears the designer’s three signature colours: red for passion, blue for hope, yellow for human warmth. Not forgetting green, visible on the hours ring, and recalling childhood memories for Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. In addition to its visual appeal, the M.A.D.1 “Time to Love” delivers a profound message. Surrounding the rotor, a quote from the artist reminds us that “time is a rare and precious treasure” of which we are the guardians. The watch is completed by a leather strap bearing the model’s name. A message which is a perfect reflection of the philosophy of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac who makes use of his art to wave the banner of love, peace and spirituality.
Celebrating unions between watchmakers’ expertise and artistic creativity, these collaborations, much prized by collectors, bear witness to a shared desire to explore new territories and reach a wider public. Real miniature masterpieces, these outstanding watches also remind us that watchmaking is not purely a matter of technique and precision, but also of art and emotions.
How IA meets aviation industry
NOWADAYS, MOST AIRCRAFTS ARE EQUIPPED WITH BUILT-IN SENSORS THAT COLLECT BILLIONS OF ITEMS OF DATA. PROCESSING THIS DATA REQUIRES THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
According to several studies, the aviation industry will be one of the most affected by artificial intelligence in the future. And today, AI is already being used to increase flight efficiency, improve performance, maximize an aircraft’s capabilities, or reduce its CO2 emissions. Today, most aircraft are equipped with on-board sensors that collect billions of pieces of data. Processing this data requires the use of AI. Aerospace companies such as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Safran, and General Electric are also investing in data analysis and collection. On the other hand, big data giants such as Microsoft and Google are also betting on this sector.
In addition, preventive maintenance accounts for nearly 20% of airlines direct operating costs. The use of artificial intelligence makes it possible to predict breakdowns and drastically reduce aircraft downtime, as maintenance operations are responsible for a significant proportion of flight delays and cancellations. AI analyzes the data collected by sensors to generate maintenance schedules.
In flight, AI supports the crew by providing advice on routine tasks and predicting problems such as turbulence or icing, while helping the pilot to make decisions in the event of danger.
For travelers, AI and the use of Big Data also make it possible to understand consumer behavior and identify their habits. Airlines can now record their preferences and optimize the booking of flight tickets. Using predictive analytics algorithms, airlines can offer their travelers optimal bookings. And they can do this by considering the time of year and various other parameters specific to their customer base. Using AI and data science, baggage can now be tracked in real time, reducing the risk of loss and other technical damage.
Ultimately, the AI revolution will continue to transform aeronautics. Several airlines are planning plethora of innovative projects, such as pilotless aircraft, the development of AI solutions to assist pilots, or the implementation of chatbots during journeys. Last year, Airbus launched the test phase of its new DragonFly device, an AI-based flight and landing assistance. Tested on an Airbus A350-1000, the autonomous aircraft – inspired by the dragonfly and its 360-degree field of vision – was able to take control of the aircraft and make the right decisions thanks to algorithms, to retrace a route and land safely, while communicating with the control tower. And in the private aviation sector, the American Cirrus Aircraft inaugurated an emergency landing button on its Vision Jet private jet, which can be activated in the event of pilot discomfort.

When aeronautics influences the automobile
EVEN MORE CONNECTED, HIGH-TECH AND AUTONOMOUS, CARS ARE INCREASINGLY USING TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE WORLD OF AERONAUTICS. NOT TO MENTION INCREDIBLE FLYING CAR PROJECTS COMING SOON...
Since their inception over a century ago, the automotive and aerospace industries have always been closely linked. The automotive industry has borrowed systems directly from aircraft, then developed them in series. In 1916, Germany’s BMW began by specializing in the manufacture of aircraft engines, hence its emblem representing the rotation of a propeller in the sky. In France, Renault has long built aircraft engines in Boulogne-Billancourt, one of the cradles of aviation, notably for the Farman brothers, Gabriel Voisin, Louis Breguet and the Caudron brothers. In UK, Rolls-Royce was born in 1904, with the union of Henry Rolls, a mechanic, and Charles Royce, an engineer. Although they started out designing cars, they went on to manufacture aircraft engines in 1914, at the outbreak of the First World War. The lucrative aeronautical business continued, even enabling the automotive division to overcome various crises. And at Bentley, the wings surrounding the B in the logo are a nod to the founder’s passion for aeronautics. In Italy, Ferrari’s famous prancing horse has one that was painted on the fuselage of the plane of a hero who died in the First World War.
Nowadays, the design, technology and electronics of production vehicles – and not just top-of-the-range vehicles – are inspired by the aeronautics industry. For example, multifunction screens, on-board computers,
night vision systems, holographic displays and, of course, the famous GPS systems found on almost every car today. Carbon brakes and ABS systems also come from the aeronautics industry. They were developed on aircraft such as the supersonic Concorde over 40 years ago to prevent wheel lock-up on landing. ABS was first mass-produced in 1978 on a Mercedes S-Class and then on a BMW 7 Series. More recently, Dassault’s electric control systems have been developed for automotive use in “Drive by Wire”, enabling acceleration, braking and cruise control.
A top-of-the-range vehicle can include up to a hundred ECUs, far more than the first Airbus had in the 70s. When it comes to design, digital models of cars are taken from the aeronautics industry. Created by Dassault Systèmes in the 90s, Catia computer software has now been adopted by the entire industry, including the automotive sector and the yachting industry.
Today, the architecture of vehicle dashboards and cockpits is largely inspired by aircraft, as in the case of Ferrari’s fighter-plane seats or Peugeot’s steering wheel, which is not far removed from the aircraft control column. Last but not least, the “robotization” of cars and the development of VTOL-type flying machines with electric motors augur well for new collaborations between the aeronautical and automotive worlds.

WITH ITS EXCLUSIVE GHOST PRISM SERIES, ROLLS-ROYCE CELEBRATES AN ANNIVERSARY MARKED BY REFINEMENT, HIGH PERFORMANCE, AND RELIABILITY.
Its name echoes like a promise of prestige and exclusiveness. Since its creation in 1904, the British brand with a double “R” has travelled down the eras, preserving its DNA: that of ensuring an extraordinary experience. To commemorate its anniversary, it has unveiled the Ghost Prism. Limited to only 120 models –the number of candles on the cake –, it highlights its undying commitment to excellence. A mantra imposed 120 years earlier by its co-founder, Henry Royce: “Aim for perfection in everything. Take the best of what exists and improve it. And when nothing exists, create it.”
UNEQUALLED ELEGANCE
The Ghost Prism presents the boldest design. Obtained from a meticulous 10-stage process, its Gunmetal exterior endows it with decidedly modern appeal. Brushstrokes in four colours (Mandarin Orange, Forge Yellow, Turchese Blue, Phoenix Red) accentuate its stylishness and personality. Inside, noble materials such as leather and wood are accompanied by chrome for an ultra-luxurious environment. The nec plus ultra? A Starlight Headliner crafted from 1,040 LED “stars”, each one delicately installed by hand. With this exclusive edition, Rolls-Royce redefines English-style elegance and high class.
“AIM FOR PERFECTION IN EVERYTHING.”
THE HEIGHT OF LUXURY
It all began in 1904 with a chance encounter in a Manchester pub between Henry Royce, peerless engineer, and Charles Rolls, a car-loving entrepreneur. United by their shared passion and vision, they joined forces with a high ambition: to exceed the expectations of the most demanding clients. The result of their first partnership, the Rolls-Royce 10 HP laid the foundations for standards of quality and excellence. Since then, the British firm has continued to defy the limits of luxury with its exceptional vehicles. 120 years later, the “Flying Lady” still sparkles on the prow of each Rolls-Royce.
