The award, which is also referred to as “Polish Economic Noble Prize”, is considered to be the most prestigious distinction for enterprises, research and development institutes and inventors in Poland. It has been given since 1998 to enterprises, institutions, and inventors who hugely contribute to the development of the country and who are successful on the Polish and foreign markets, creating new work posts, following the widely-understood business ethics rules, and contributing to the building of prestige and positive image of the Polish economy. In his speech, Mr President Bronisław Komorowski emphasized that all the nominees were a part of the economic success of Poland, and that it was not a coincidence that Poznań was the place where the awards were handed in as it was in Poznań where Polish entrepreneurship emerged. We all know very well how much we still have to catch up with, how much we must still achieve to become richer so that we can live according to the standards in the most prestigious parts of the world. However, thanks to people like you, companies like yours, all the environment of Polish entrepreneurs, we are getting closer and closer to that with big steps, said the President about the nominees and the award winners. He added that the President’s award should not only be a form of distinction, but should also be an incentive to stay active. In his speech, the President also emphasized that the Polish economy was the third economy continuously developing globally, following the Chinese and German ones.

In 2015 the President honored the following: In the category of INNOVATION, the honored company was SELVITA, a biotechnological company, operating in the field of discovery and development of medicine which is mostly used in cancer treatment. The company prepared a project targeted at exploring a breakthrough-type, genetically individualized medicine, used for oncology therapies. Thanks to taking advantage of automatic segregation, the company retrieves a maximum number of recycling material. The company takes advantage of the re-cultivated and closed waste disposal plants effectively, transforming them into e.g. a golf course “Zawiercie” in Gorzów Wielkopolski. In the category of PERMANENT SUCCESS, the honored company was MLEKOVITA, Poland’s biggest dairy group with 100% Polish capital, operating since 1928. Mlekovita cooperates with more than 20 thousand milk suppliers.

NEWS Fair goes together with culture Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie has for years been supporting art and culture institutions. The company cooperates with the University of Fine Arts, the Polish Dance Theater, the Malta Foundation, the Cameral Orchestra of Polish Radio Amadeus, Poznań Philharmonics, and Poznań Choir ‘Słowiki’. It has also taken over the honorary patronage of International Competitions of Henryk Wieniawski in 2016 – 13th International Lute Competition (8-15 May) and 15th International Violin Competition (8-23 September) as well as a cycle of cultural events directed at inhabitants of Poznań and a wide range of music lovers. The International Violin Competition of Henryk Wieniawski is the oldest and the most prestigious European violin competition, which has been taking place in Poznań since 1952. The competition is the member-founder of the World Federation of International Music Competitions with its headquarters in Geneva (WFIMC). There are two other disciplines which originated from the international violin competition. While competitions for composers did not develop much, playing the lute has become deeply rooted at an international level. There are always professional lute musicians of all nationalities who participate in the International Lute Competition of Henryk Wieniawski, taking place in Poznań every five years, always in the year of the Violin Competition.

As part of the cultural events for Poznań inhabitants and a wide range of music lovers, the 2015 edition will include a concert participated by stars of modern violin, the 9th National Violin Competition of Z. Jahnke which guarantees a wild card for the 15th International Violin Competition in 2016, an orchestra version of karaoke, as well as recordings of H.Wieniawski concerts in cooperation with the Youth Orchestra of the European Union, as well as a street festival of H.Wieniawski’s birthday and nameday. Festival of extreme emotions

After as many as 24 years, Poznań has again become the host of an international-scale aero festival. Aerofestival, meaning the combination of air shows, fair exposition of Aero Fair and a concert given by a world-class star, will take place at Ławica Airport on 13 and 14 June 2015. The co-organizers of the event include Aeropact, Ławica Airport, and Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie. There will be more than 600 minutes of air shows over just two days of the Aerofestival. A few dozen teams and pilots have already confirmed their presence, including top-class stars like one of the best acrobatic groups worldwide, the Turkish Stars, which will take part only in four abroad events this year, including one in Poland, says Hubert Topoliński, the vice president of Aeropact, the event’s organizer. Also, Red Bull has actively joined in supporting the event, owing to which there will be a possibility for the audience to admire the stunts by Red Bull pilots. The organizers estimate to attract roughly 150 thousand people to this event, which will be directed at aviation fans as well as every single person who wishes to have a closer look at the planes and see the stunts by the best pilots live. The aviation fair, Aero Fair, will be an integral part of the event, and it will be addressed to a wide range of recipient, and not only those connected with the industry itself. Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie has lots of remarkable events in its portfolio, which attracted guests from across Poland, says Przemysław Trawa, Chairman of the Board of MTP. We are very pleased we could take the opportunity to join in the preparation for Aerofestival 2015, at the same time organizing the Aero Fair. I am convinced that our exhibition will be an attractive part of the whole event. For more information visit www.aerofestival.pl

NEWS Congress of 25th anniversary of Local Government

High position of the Fair in marketing mix

The president of Poland Bronisław Komorowski, the Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, prof. Jerzy Buzek, and the representatives of the Parliament and the Government participated in the proceedings of the 25th anniversary of creating Local Government in Poland. The greatest meeting of local politicians of the last few years, organized by six national local government organizations, took place in early-March in the Congress Center of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie. The two-day Congress of the 25th anniversary of Local Government was a central event of the governmental reform’s jubilee, which is considered to be one of the greatest successes of the changes of the Polish political system. The participants summarized the 25 years of self-governed Poland and discussed about new challenges. The Congress was under the honorary patronage of Bronisław Komorowski, the President of Poland.

The Fair in Poland remains a very important marketing and business communication instrument. Preliminary statistical data by Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry (PCEI) and CENTREX International Association of Exhibition Statistics (auditor of the data) seem to prove the strong increase tendency of all key parameters, ranging from rented exhibition area to the number of exhibitors and visitors. According to the PCEI and CENTREX, the increase of exhibition area during fair events in 2014 reached approximately 73.5 sqm (2014: nearly 816 thousand; 2012: more than 742 thousand) the growth of the number of visitors is estimated at approximately 120 thousand people (2014: more than 1,282,000; 2012: more than 1,162,000) and the number of exhibitors increased by 987 in 2014 (2014: nearly 29 thousand; 2012 nearly 28 thousand). The number of fair events only, in comparison the 2012, remains similar. Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie, the industry leader, noted an increase in the number of visitors by 32.11%, and the increase in the area rented by 15.54%. According to fair experts, a long-term economic growth of Poland facilitates the development of the Polish exhibition sector, which follows the needs of the economy, entrepreneurs, supporting the economic development of different regions and the country. Improvement of conditions of numerous Polish, small and medium-size companies, encourages them to participate in more than 200 specialist fair in Poland. The fair is now changing its functions and its image as well. We are dealing with companies’ actions of fair industry becoming hybrid. The fair used to be mostly contract-related, where a contract or its perspective was very important. Today, however, we have professional organizers of conferences, congresses, events, and other accompanying events, such as sports, culture, social and trade ones, summarizes the changes within the industry Przemysław Trawa, President of the Council of PCEI.

MTP among Business Gazelles A ceremony of presenting the “Business Gazelle” awards to the best companies of Wielkopolskie and Lubuskie voivodeships took place in the Earth Hall of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie. The idea of the competition, which is organized by “Puls Biznesu” is to promote small and large scale entrepreneurship. Coface Poland, a financial institution, is the author of the ranking. The place in the ranking is determined by a percentage increase of turnover over the period of three years. In this edition of Gazelles, such companies as Best Oil, Euroklimand and Goclever became the leaders of Wielkopolskie voivodeship. On behalf of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie, Przemysław Trawa, the President of the Board, was presented with a diploma, which proves the fact of belonging to the elite club “Business Gazelles”.

Rebranding is the response to the dynamic changes that have been taking place in the economic sector, closely related to technologies and solutions which support environment protection. POL-ECO-SYSTEM Fair combines the experience of all the projects together and is proven by its new formula, fully representing the idea of sustainable development on many fields of ecology. I am convinced that, similarly to eco-systems, there will be a smooth transition of knowledge and new technologies in the new event, which will become innovation for the introduction of innovatory solutions connected with environment protection, says Łukasz Lohr, Director of POL-ECO-SYSTEM and he adds that it is worth emphasizing that thanks to the combination of the four branch events, the POL-ECO-SYSTEM event has become Poland’s greatest event devoted to innovative solutions and technologies of the widely-understood environment protection. The participants of the Hosted Buyers program and the exhibitors invited to participate in the program could for the first time take advantage of the Poken technology, which is a networking platform enabling an electronic exchange of data stored in small devices, which look like a small key ring. The devices were a sort of an electronic business card, yet they were data storage units, which you could use to download, for instance, promotional materials of a particular exhibitor. The exchange of information between the devices took place by clicking both the devices, taking advantage of the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. Additionally, thanks to the intelligent, electronic registration system, Poken, a calendar of matchmaking meetings between foreign guests and Polish exhibitors was arranged, which matched companies according to their needs. As evaluated by the Hosted Buyers program participants, taking advantage of the Poken technology influenced the quality and efficiency of the meetings. Information on the coming edition of the Hosted Buyers program are published on www.budma.pl

NEWS Energetic trends set in Poznań What are the challenges energy companies will have to face soon? What will customers expect? What global trends will soon become a standard in Poland as well? Finally, how to prepare and handle with new situations? These questions were answered in Poznań at the international congress Energi@21 by best practitioners, experts and scientists from Poland, Europe and the USA. The International Congress of Energy Science and Industry Energi@21: Innovative Energy Enterprise, which took place during EXPOPOWER and GREEPOWER Fair, attracted crowds of experts of the energy industry. The event, organized by the PKEE (Polish Committee of Electric Energy), was given the honorary patronage of the State Treasury, the City of Poznań, the Polish Energy Regulatory Office, and the National Research and Development Center.

As noticed by the Vice-Chairman of ENEA Grzegorz Kinelski, electric energy itself is not an interesting product. The multi-utility philosophy means extra advantages for clients and a new brand, he said. Fridrik Larsen, an outstanding specialist from Iceland, concentrated on the issue of energetic branding. According to him, a brand is what helps a client assess a product’s value and build proper relationships with its producer or distributor. Panels devoted to the issue of I-utility and energy companies based on coal were huge

Creatively on business – Poznań Entrepreneurship Days How to start a company step by step? How to write a successful business plan and how to carry out an effective advertising campaign online? Answers to these as well as other questions which are intriguing to young entrepreneurs were given at Poznań Entrepreneurship Days. It was already the fifth edition of Poznań Entrepreneurship Days. The event has now permanently entered the calendar of events which are important for the city itself. Over the two days of the event it was possible to come across inspiration and ideas for your own company, find out about the formal side of running a company, find sources of financing and partners for your own company. As far as established entrepreneurs are concerned, it was also a perfect spot for starting new and interesting business contacts, opening themselves for cooperation with universities, as well as for taking part in discussions concerning the development of local economy. Start-up companies, current franchisees and franchisees-to-be, representatives of small and medium size companies all took part in lectures given by speakers of such giants as Napster and Google. They took advantage of a counseling area, presentations of the latest 10 / POZNAŃ FAIR MAGAZINE

popular. The topics discussed concerned the way a modern model of energy regulation can be as well as the way of functioning of an energy company. According to Mariusz Swora, the chairman of the Congress Board, social and economic factors play a key role as far as the future of the energy sector is concerned, and not technological ones. We should think in terms of the client as they are the most important, whereas innovation should be treated in a complex way, explained Swora. How to verify what clients really need? According to Mark Jamison of University of Florida, clients should not be asked what they want, as what they want is low prices, but about the things they find irritating. The Congress was summarized during a debate chaired by the Rector of Poznań University of Economics, Marian Gorynia. It was participated by representatives of three technical universities, from Wrocław, Warsaw, and Opole, as well as representatives of energy companies, Enea, Tauron, and PGE. It was reminded that innovations consist of a state of mind and a creative readiness for changes. Both, energy joint companies and universities must fit in the system where innovation and commercialization are present, explained Paweł Orlof, vice-president of Enea. In his opinion, neither energy companies nor universities are ready for innovations. Those who missed it should feel regretful, the WysokieNapiecie.pl portal summed up on Twitter. The Congress commenced well, became perfect afterwards, to become impressive in the end. We managed to tame the language of innovation, added Mariusz Swora. More than 40 Polish and foreign experts came to Poznań, thanks to whom the Congress referred to up-to-date problems, and the participants jointly emphasized that they found the discussions inspiring. The Energi@21 conference, which is also supported by energy groups such as Enea S.A., Energa S.A., Tauron S.A. PGE S.A., RWE and other energy related companies, will take place cyclically during the Expopower fair events. We kindly invite you to join another international meeting on 10-12 May 2016.

PROMOTION PROGRAM

Fashion for Polish brands A new information service about Polish fashion was launched. Polish fashion has successfully been winning hearts of domestic and foreign customers. As the founders of the website polskamoda.pl explain, it is supposed to be a source of knowledge about novelties, playing an advisory role, suggesting where in a particular city a shop offering Polish products can be found. Recently Poles have been approaching fashion with more and more courage and awareness. Standard styles matched in international retail chains are losing their clients in favor of clothes of Polish origin characterized by genuine style. The first signals proving that the origin of clothes and footwear has a huge influence upon our shopping decisions could be observed after the dynamic growth of the number of internet showrooms, which offer only Polish brand collections as well as designers who label their clothes with their own names. It was very easy to convince internet users that clothes with Polish tags are not only distinguishable by their quality compared to international clothes enterprises, but are also characterized by reasonable prices. As noticed by the companies, their products are more and more often appreciated by foreign clients, who are very willing to come to the fair to see, and later order, whole collections.

Despite being more aware of Polish brands, the domestic market is still small and lots of great brands might as well reach a wider group of recipients. There are many obstacles, including not enough promotion, distribution, or a foreign-like name of a brand. Though the latter helps to enter foreign markets, yet it makes it more difficult to recognize the origin of the products. For this very reason, we came up with an idea of creating a website dedicated to Polish fashion only. At polskamoda.pl website and its foreign equivalent polishfashion.info you can have a look at new collections of the brands distinguished by the prestigious “Polska Moda (Polish Fashion)” sign, creations of young designers as well as photo reports from fashions shows. Internet users will also find a search engine of stationary shops, which may help you find boutiques with Polish clothes in the nearest neighborhood. The website polskamoda.pl is a part of the Polska Moda project, which aims at promoting the domestic clothing and footwear industries. More on www.polishfashion.info

COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS AT THE FAIR

Gold plated twice

A solemn Gala of the Gold Medal – Consumers’ Choice 2015

Innovative and modern products are the laureates of the Gold Medal of MTP competition; their quality sets forth new standards. To put it in a nutshell − they are 21st century products. A solemn gala of awarding the prestigious statuettes of the Gold Medal – Consumers’ Choice to the products which were appreciated by both experts of the Competition Courts as well as users and consumers is an inseparable part of the Gold Medal competition. Over the whole last year during fair events organized by MTP, the experts of the Competition Courts awarded the best products with the Gold Medal. These products later went to another competition, Consumers’ Choice, where only one product was chosen. This happened with a voting on the www.zlotymedal.mtp.pl website as well as in special Champion Zones, which can be found on the fairgrounds. In 2014, out of 329 laureates of the Gold Medal of MTP which won the experts’ recognition, consumers chose 36 products, which in their opinion deserved a special distinction. The Laureates can take advantage of the title of Gold Medal – Consumers’ Choice over the whole year 2015. The number of votes cast proves the rank of the Consumers’ Choice; there are lots of them, ever since 2012 220 thousand votes have been cast! The solemn Gala took place in mid-March in the Earth Hall. The prestigious statuettes, which were given by the Chairman of the Board of MTP, Przemysław Trawa, were received by the representatives of the awarded companies. The event was very official. The inauguration lecture titled “Marketing Communica-

tion – the source of boosting income or a useless expense?” was given by dr Marek Borowiński, a specialist of marketing and Visual Merchandising, while Jaworski Duo band took care of the atmosphere. The whole night was finished by the performance of Mrozu, a popular artist. The daily “Rzeczpospolita”, being one of the leaders of daily media in Poland, was a media patron of the Gold Medal of MTP competition, while Telewizja Regionalna (Regional TV) was the media patron of “The Gold Medal of MTP – Consumers’ Choice”. dr Marek Borowiński a Visual Merchandising and a MarekBorowinski.com sale boosting specialist The shop creates a very controlled environment, where a consumer searches for having their needs satisfied. Standing in front of a shop shelf they will most certainly use their visual sense. They will look and analyze, while their eyes and their view range work in a particular way. The product and its packaging should thus draw a client’s attention and get them interested. For this to happen, a product should be exceptional in its category; especially if we take into account that clients are getting more and more demanding. The Gold Medal of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie is definitely such a distinction. The Medal is awarded by the Competition Court, consisting of the greatest specialists and experts of particular fields. The sign is a confirmation of innovation and the product’s highest quality. For a consumer, it is a certificate which acknowledges a proper choice. The Gold Medal which is placed on a product or its packaging becomes a sort of a navigation system in shop alleys, giving the customers a sort of confirmation about a good choice.

ACCORDING TO LAUREATES Marcin Kosicki owner of PRESSTU.PL

In 2013 PRESSTU.PL received the Gold Medal of MTP for WebCmentarz®, owing to which they were nominated for the competition of the Gold Medal – Consumers’ Choice. It was a good impulse to launch a large scale promotional campaign. It should be added that the voting possibilities for fair participants and internet users hugely expanded the brand scope. The victory in the voting filled us with pride and happiness. Above all, though, it increased interest in the very product which received the distinction. The information about the victory appeared in the local, industry, and national media. It is a very important aspect of receiving the award, as it transfers onto the brand recognizability, which consequently expands the scope of our actions. The distinction by Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie is considered for the sign proving the highest quality, opening the door to winning new clients.

Szymon Grygierczyk deputy of the General Director of Hoya Lens Poland Sp. z o.o.

The Gold Medal of MTP is a very important distinction for us. We apply our best, latest products, and once we receive such an award, we consider it to be the confirmation of its innovation and quality. HISTORY OF SUCCESS

We keep reaching perfection

A conversation with Krzysztof Filas, Piotr Filas and Bartosz Filas, the Board of Bea Beleza

“Bea Beleza means emotions, victories, failures. Bea Beleza means passion.” This is what your website says. How did you come up with the idea of starting a business related to hairdressing products? What were the beginnings and the following stages in the development of your company like? Krzysztof Filas: : Bea Beleza is a family company, which originated from passion and love to beauty. The road to creating this unique place was long and curved, and the success we managed to achieve results from our numerous efforts, hard work, and persistence of the whole team. However, to be honest, it all started with an idea, which my mum, who had been running a beauty and hairdressing salon, came up with. In the salon, on the shelves there were lots of professional products for sale for our customers. On that account, one of us had this idea to start selling professional, exclusive cosmetics at the popular online website, Allegro. After a short time, the company needed help, and thus our team was joined by two other brothers. Moreover, our father’s involvement and support was significant as far as the company’s further development is concerned. The company Bea Beleza started operating on 1 October 2007. Piotr Filas: In 2012 we decided to build our own headquarters, including a warehouse (450 sqm), a shop, and offices. As for its location we chose Komorniki, near Poznań. The new facility started operating in May 2014, and it is, without a doubt, something to be proud of. Its modern, simple and elegant shape draws attention, while the spacious and light interiors house as much as 150 sqm office area. The comfort of work we managed to create influences upon a team which works more effectively to achieve further successes. 30 / POZNAŃ FAIR MAGAZINE

Bartosz Filas: We realize the importance of a proper, well-communicating team for the company’s development. We are fully aware that one of the most important factors of success is gaining, shaping, valuing, and keeping unusual people. There is a group of young, creative people, who are not afraid of new challenges, working on the strategy of the company in our new marketing department. The team works together for the company’s success, fitting their reactions to the ever-changing market reality rapidly, according to particular needs. As a result of the marketing department and the advertising specialists working together, our advertising and promotional materials are professionally prepared. Taking care of the best dissemination of our products, we have strengthened the teams of representatives, thus boosting sale efficiency. And these day? You’re looking into the future and…. K.F.: Our way of thinking and our actions all come down to one thing – consequently trying to reach perfection What is, in your opinion, the key to success? P.F.: Our success lies in our actions which go together with the company’s mission. We deliver only the best quality, highly-selected professional hairdressing products. We offer innovative solutions, and share our knowledge with our clients. On every step we are trying to be perfect. We do our best to improve our image, prestige, and style. We care and respect every client, dealing with them the same way we would like to be dealt with. We are trying to reach perfection, however, not at the expense of customer service quality and reputation. We are trying to look into the future, following our passion and ideas.

HISTORY OF SUCCESS B.F.: Our company’s orientation is set solely on innovative, unique, best quality, and extravagant design cosmetic products. From our customers’ perspective, our products so far placed us far in front of our competition, made it possible for us to take advantage of the means and the potential of our company, as well as strengthened our market position. Being a modern company which follows trends and the spirit of time, our portfolio includes the brands which use only natural and organic products.

United SL. The product was awarded by experts in the competition for the Gold Medal of MTP, and a month later the choice was confirmed by consumers, who also selected it in the Gold Medal – Consumers’ Choice competition. The media releases which took place afterwards let us gain new clients and fans. Which actions in terms of the fair marketing did you take advantage of during the LOOK fair? How did they complement any other marketing actions?

What marketing solutions does your company apply? How did your presence at the fair fit with these actions?

P.F.: At the previous edition, we took advantage of a few options we had been offered. We had a large banner at the Lime Tree Alley and we hired hostesses, who distributed our marketing material. The effect was satisfying, as our stand was visited by dozens of clients. We also offered a hairstyles presentation, whose authors were a Spanish trainer Pablo Alvarez as well as Elżbieta Kwaśny, who is a laureate of numerous awards in hairdressing. The effective show was a possibility to present our company in a different, artistic way.

K.F.: We have always wanted to be perceived as the branch leader. For this reason, we pay a lot of attention to our marketing activities. We take advantage of the old school of marketing as well as its modern solutions. These days, the Internet has taken 90% of the market; therefore, our actions must correspond. We must apply actions which will allow us to meet the expectations of the most demanding client. In terms of e-commerce we take advantage of all possible online marketing solutions, ranging from SEM, SEO, up to click-on campaigns, sponsored links, and re-marketing. Social media are also an indispensable part of our company. We have our own profile on Facebook, which is updated at least three times a day. We have Instagram and Twitter accounts. We always try to be innovative, and on that account we were the first to set up our own videoblog, where we touch on the issues connected with hair care, for instance; however, we also present our company from a totally different perspective. Never do we forget about cooperation with the most popular blogs and the local TV ONTV.

Is the fair marketing worthwhile? What are the effects of the campaign during the fair, and after the fair? K.F.: Every marketing which is well through and well done is worthwhile. It is worth investing in signs which will help a client reach a certain destination. The stand itself, its location, height, features that made it unique played a very important role. Also, a good action plan and a schedule of shows correlate to the number of visitors. B.F.: The result of the fair campaign, both during and after the fair, is that the brand image seen by our clients is stronger. This, consequently, leads to a growing number of contractors, more fans on each and every social media website, as well as an increase in the number of our online shop customers.

Photo: press services of Bea Beleza

B.F.: Our presence at the fair strengthened the position of our company in the awareness of our clients. The stand of Bea Beleza at LOOK Hairdressing Forum was awarded by the Jury of Acanthus Aureus. Another aspect that was recognized was the rejuvenating treatment we offer, which brings back healthy look to your hair; the TRENDY HAIR by the Spanish company Gigs

P.F.: We do not only focus our actions on the Internet. Moreover, we support lots of local and regional events, sponsoring different rewards for such purposes.

Apart from the basic data like the type of activities, the name of the company, its contact data, telephone number, e-mails, the databases include contacts to the managerial staff, including chairmen and owners. Additionally, the databases include contacts to marketing, production, and logistics departments. It is possible to sort them according to the country, voivodeship, county, town, or agglomeration, as well as according to the post in the company, profession or number of employees.

What can we do for you?

All entrepreneurs may take advantage of the Contact Center MTP assistance. The campaign can also support a company’s participation in a fair event. Similarly, it can be used as a communicative tool for promotion and other purposes. The services of the Contact Center MTP concentrate on making effective campaigns, which are based on four main tools – telemarketing, e-mailing, text messages distribution, and a traditional post delivery which uses printing, confectioning, and delivery services.

Telemarketing

A direct telephone conversation happens to be one of the most effective methods of communication, which is connected with the recognition of the target group and its needs. The conversation can be informative or sale-oriented; it may be used to obtain the caller’s permission to have an e-mail sent. Moreover, it may be an invitation to take advantage of an offer, and encourage you to receive information via e-mail. There is a professional team of consultants working for the Contact Center MTP, who can communicate in Polish, English and other foreign languages. Among other services, the Contact Center MTP is specialized in telemarketing, tele-sales and sale support.

E-mailing

E-mailing campaigns are carried out in accordance with databases of professionals who agreed to have business information sent via e-mails. Targeting of a campaign in terms of a particular branch is as precise as a razor cut. Thanks to detailed statistics, it is possible to estimate efficiency of a campaign nearly perfectly.

SMS

Nowadays the phone is a multi-purpose tool, and therefore it is more and more often a ‘personal command center’ (the calendar, an alarm clock, online banking apps, business apps), which is always at hand. According to the estimates of the marketing branch, the number of text messages sent in the coming years is predicted to rise, despite the fact that there are still newer and newer messengers on the market. About 40% of the companies which take advantage of text messages find them very effective. Similarly to e-mail campaigns, text messages distribution by the Contact Center MTP is carried out in accordance with databases of professionals who agreed to have business information sent via electronic means. A campaign’s average conversion is estimated at 30%.

Traditional mailing

The Contact Center MTP packs and sends more than 1 million pieces of information annually. They are of various format and size. Thanks to that, it can offer attractive prices of postal fees as well as experience in terms of confectioning optimization. If needed, it will also prepare a design of a company’s paper and form, folders, fliers, envelopes, envelope stickers, packaging, based on the requirements and graphic materials delivered.

FAIR’S CUSTOMS

GIN DOBRY – FIRST TODAY! This loud saying is pretty often heard at Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie at the meetings of GIN DOBRY CLUB. It dates back to the 60s of the last century. It was in 1966, at the 35th Poznań International Fair, when the tradition of raising a toast at 12 o’clock with a glass of gin and tonic emerged in order to celebrate the beginning of international business talks.

William Kirton and James Lindsay, the fair participants, were the initiators of the habit. It was at their stands that Polish visitors got familiar with the habit of drinking a glass of gin to the success of business talks. The toast was first raised in English. As soon as the funny similarity between the words “dzień dobry” and the phrase “gin is good” was first noticed, one common international slogan “GIN DOBRY – FIRST TODAY” was agreed upon. The meetings at the English stands attracted crowds of visitors; therefore, in order to introduce some sort of routine, the toasts were signalized with a bell and the phrase “with decorum gentlemen”. The custom is practiced at Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie until this day.

The meetings of GIN DOBRY CLUB take place at the most important fair events, when the majority of the club members meet at noon in Pavilion 10 and cry out “GIN DOBRY – FIRST TODAY”. Still, there are new members joining the club; they are presented with a certificate and a badge at a solemn initiation ceremony. Thanks to the badges the club members can easily recognize one another. New members can only be admitted to the club by the club’s president and the vice-president. At present, it is John Cash who holds the highest position in the club.

On 13th June 1994, at the 66th Poznań International Fair, His Royal Highness, The Duke of Kent, became the 385th member of the Gin Dobry Club. In the photograph, John Cash is enrolling His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, in the presence of Mr. Michael Llewellyn-Smith, CMG, British Ambassador to Poland, Mr. St. Laskowski, General Director of the Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie and other Gin Dobry Club members

GIN DOBRY CLUB meeting during BUDMA 2015 fair was a great opportunity to meet and talk to John Cash, the President of Gin Dobry Club.

Hello John, you preside a unique club – the GIN DOBRY CLUB. For nearly half a century the club meetings have been held at MTP fairgrounds. How long has the club’s history been intertwined with your story? The Gin Dobry Club was formed at Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie in 1966 – three years before my first visit to Poznań. I was sent by my company Pye Unicam Ltd to supervise the construction of their stand at the PIF in June 1969. During the next 12 years I attended a number of exhibitions in Poznań for Pye Unicam and then Barry Martin Travel Ltd. My first contact with the GDC was at Salmed 1980 when I was invited to attend a session by the co-founder and President William (Bill) Kirton. The regulation for becoming a member at that time meant I could not become a member until 1984 – more about the induction procedures later – but I was able to attend sessions as an invited guest. During the Martial Law period in December 1981 – July 1983, along with many other West European Embassies, the British Ambassador was withdrawn. This withdrawal meant that financial support for British companies attending exhibitions in Poland was suspended. However, a number of UK firms wished to continue their participation at various exhibitions in Poznań. In October 1982 the first agreement between the MTP and a representative foreign company was formed and I became their agent on the territory of the United Kingdom. In the same year, I attended another session of the GDC, which meant I was eligible to become a member at the next exhibition where the GDC was held and in 1984 at the Salmed Exhibition I was inducted into the GDC by President Bill Kirton. In 1990 I was appointed vice-president of the GDC due to the retirement of co-founder Bill Kirton. In 1996, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the GDC the PIF allocated 50 sqm of free space at the International Fair in recognition of their activities. Bill Kirton visited Poznań for the celebrations and I was proud to accept the title of President of the Gin Dobry Club bestowed on me by Mr. Kirton. In 1997 my company JC Exhibitions Ltd formed an American branch – JC Exhibitions Inc which allowed me to represent the PIF in the USA and Canada. I retired at the age of 65, in December 2007 and I thought that the GDC would no longer function.

How wrong was I! Little could I have realised that due to the fantastic efforts by Andrzej Byrt he made me an offer I could not refuse! Mr. Byrt suggested that GDC sessions should still be held and invited me to attend a number of specified exhibitions on a regular basis. Since that time I have attended at least four exhibitions each year to conduct GDC sessions. Last year in October, I signed a new three-year agreement to attend six shows in Poznań. So as you can see, due to the excellent efforts of the PIF, the Gin Dobry Club continues to function! This is a very interesting story, John. Why is the toast raised with gin & tonics? That’s quite simple – a gin and tonic is a traditional English drink Is there any special ritual of GIN DOBRY CLUB meetings? Can anyone become a member of the GIN DOBRY CLUB? In 2015 Gin Dobry Club will have 24 sessions – the first four being held at Budma. The formula has changed to move with the times. It is no longer necessary to wait to meet the President or Vice-Presidents at three separate exhibitions. Membership can be obtained at the first session attended by an applicant, but you have to be recomendad by other member of the club. However, the ritual remains the same as it was when the club was formed in 1966. This ritual is a secret until members are inducted so you will have to attend a session to find the answer to this question! The only clue I will give you is that we usually meet at the honoured time of 12 noon. How many members of the GIN DOBRY CLUB are there at present?

Foto: Archiwum MTP

The Club has over 800 members from all parts of the World. However, we don't usually expect them all to attend sessions! Our most notable members include His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent and Mr. Aleksander Kwaśniewski. It would be an honour if both these distinguished members could attend our 50th Anniversary at the ITM 2016!

On 10th of March 2015 at Budma Fair Mr. Paweł Orłowski, Undersecretary of State of Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, Mr. Karol Heinrich, Director General of the Polish Chamber of Steel Construction Industry, Mr. Marek Dranikowski, President of the Polish Chamber of Steel Construction Industry and Mr. Tomasz Kobierski, Vice-President of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie was inducted into the GDC POZNAŃ FAIR MAGAZINE / 37

Stands and events – IDEAEXPO.MTP stretches its wings You can rely on the team of experts of IDEAEXPO.MTP as far as complex stand assembly is concerned, which many companies have already experienced. Every year, the team builds 6 thousand stands of different parameters, ranging from the smallest, built with standard elements, to those of a few hundred square meters large, individual projects for market leaders. Over the last years IDEAEXPO.MTP has stretched its wings in new fields. Experience built over years When the team separated itself in the structure of MTP over 30 years ago as a “stand assembly department”, it dealt with fair stands only. However, newer and newer tasks kept being added to the basic actions, which were beyond stand assembly only. Such actions as servicing of opening ceremonies, branch evenings, and award galas appeared. In the beginning small occasions which only needed lighting and sound were changing into a parade of light and sound, accompanied by extra events. Perfection of various events and their high level led the exhibitors of the events to start asking about the provider of technical infrastructure. Once they found out it was IDEAEXPO.MTP, they made decisions to leave the organization of events at their stand as well as cooperation with organizing their own company events to the team.

Full ahead The brand new congress center on the premises of MTP with the flagship investment, the Earth Hall, was a milestone in the operation of IDEAEXPO.MTP. Last year alone, IDEAEXPO.MTP served nearly 100 different events of Poznań Congress Center clients. It is worth taking notice of great concerts by e.g. Chris Botti, Kayah Transnational Orchestra, De Mono, Simple Minds, Audio Feels, and Natalia Kukulska. These are just some of the performers for whom various scene arrangements were prepared. Additionally, there were also lots of plays performed by prestigious theater teams. Not only events and concerts While Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie is the organizer of Poland’s most important horse jumping competition, including CSI3*W as well as Cavaliada Tour in Poznań, Warsaw and Lublin, the team of

FAIR SERVICES IDEAEXPO.MTP, specializing in arranging spaces for various events, takes care of preparing technical infrastructure of the competitions at all three locations. It is worth mentioning that fair pavilions have hosted riders and their horses ever since 1994. From the very beginning, the fair team have been responsible for preparing the parkour together with all other areas, which are indispensable to organize an international horse jumping competition – stables, warm-up area, grandstands for a few thousand people, the VIP lounge, rooms for judges, the stand for TV crew, TV screens, as well as professional lighting and sound system. COP – large-scale challenge The portfolio of IDEAEXPO.MTP also includes large-scale international projects. This kind of experience is proven by United Nations Conferences concerning climate change. In 2009, when the COP14 conference was taking place at Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie, the IDEAEXPO.MTP team provided equipment for conference rooms, including two largest halls together with complex technical equipment, which were prepared from the scratch. Not only the representatives of the Ministry of Environment, but also the UN was impressed by the quality and efficiency of technical and organizational services. In 2013 when Poland hosted COP19, and Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie was again given the responsibility to provide for technical services of the conference, the challenge was even bigger. The conference was taking place at the National Stadium in Warsaw, which is a facility prepared for events of a different kind. It was necessary not only to provide equipment for the existing rooms, but also to build fully-equipped tents, designed for talks. All the tasks were carried out perfectly, gaining recognition of the organizers, participants from around the world, and the representatives of the UN Secretary Office.

Apple Festival – not only technique The fact of IDEAEXPO.MTP going beyond its standard technical services connected with stand assembly and providing for proper technical equipment commenced with the Apple Festival, which took place last September in Warsaw. Krakowskie Przedmieście, a prestigious location, was a great challenge as the very area is strictly controlled by conservators. The scope of responsibilities given to the IDEAEXPO.MTP team went far beyond technical and logistics issues. Apart from constructing a tent exposition, the organizer, Krajowy Związek Grup Producentów Owoców i Warzyw (National Fruit and Vegetable Producers Association), asked for coordinating marketing activities as well as for organization of a festivity, stage events, culinary workshops, as well as fun and games for children. The IDEAEXPO.MTP team handled these tasks very well, too. 40 / POZNAŃ FAIR MAGAZINE

We are not afraid of outdoor areas Warsaw’s Apple Festival is not the only outdoor event that can be found in the portfolio of IDEAEXPO.MTP. The team also prepared nearly complete outdoor, technical infrastructure for Poland’s greatest fair of forestry EKO-LAS in a forest area in Mostki. Apart from preparing the grounds and erecting the tent halls for exhibitors, a fully-equipped conference hall was created in the very heart of the forest.

Another unique task was the arrangement of the area to adjust it to the 1st Polish Championship of Forwarder Operators, which took place during EKO-LAS. The grounds were prepared to fit a few different competitions, involving loading, transporting, and stacking logs, rolls, and blocks, as well as stands for the judges, sound system, and clocks for timekeeping. Another event considered big, prepared by IDEAEXPO.MTP, is Polskie Zboża – Zielone Agro Show, as well as the preparation of tent and container stands in Bednary.

New challenges in organisation of events await the IDEAEXPO.MTP team. One of the upcoming events to be organised by our team is e.g. the next edition of Apple Festival in Katowice. Our professionalism has been confirmed by the latest successful projects: Nationwide Forest Days combined with the 70th anniversary of State Forests in Zielona Góra, held at the premises of Ochla Ethnographic Museum, and a 5 day event for customers, dealers and partners of Bergerat Monnoyeur, distributor of CAT machines, which was held in Dębska Wola near Morawica, close to Kielce. The interesting fact is that this last event was organised in an old quarry which had been converted into a motocross track. Prepared by Marzanna Wiśniewska, IDEAEXPO.MTP IDEAEXPO.MTP is an integral part of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie, specialized in assembling fair stands. At every stage we pay particular attention to making your participation in a fair event beneficial. We also offer fully professional and complex services of various events. www.ideaexpo.pl

CONGRESSES / EVENTS / FAIRS The Earth Hall among the best concert halls The concert hall of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie is considered to be one of the best large-size concert and opera halls in Poland. The list of 13 best halls in terms of perfect acoustics was published by Gazeta Wyborcza. In the article titled “Szał na sale (Craze for halls)” published on 31 January in Gazeta Wyborcza, Andrzej Fedorowicz had a look at the halls built over the recent years, which included philharmonics, opera houses, and concert halls. Comparing the investments the author concentrated mostly on their musical assets. For that particular reason he invited three experts – prof. Jan Adamczyk from AGH Kraków, prof. Tadeusz Komisiński and prof. Andrzej Kulowski from Gdańsk University of Technology – to provide their opinions. Together they created a list of 13 facilities, which they considered exceptionally good in terms of their acoustics. The lot included Poznań’s Earth Hall, which is believed to be as good as Wrocław’s and Kraków’s Opera Houses, the Concert Studio of Polskie Radio in Warsaw, and the Congress Center ICE in Kraków.

On that account, I am happy that the new Caddy will be produced in Poznań only, in one of the greatest industrial centers, said Janusz Piechociński. There are about 6,800 people employed in Poznań. Along with the Caddy, the plant in Poznań also produces a model version of Transporter (27,400 cars in 2014) and subassembly parts (3.3 million casts in 2014). A new factory will be erected in Września, where a new generation of Crafter will be produced starting 2016. 3,000 posts will be created there. The area will have 220 hectares, which equals around 300 football pitches. We are the greatest employer in the region. We take it as a challenge for we wish to become the best employer, says Jens Ocksen, the president of the board of Volkswagen Poznań and a member of Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge management. Numerous media representatives at the premiere (more than 100 accredited journalists of the whole world) all emphasized the fact of such an event outside the native Germany. According to the weekly Wprost, Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie has become a European leader. These days it is the region’s greatest organizer of various exhibitions, congresses, and conferences. The same article says that “Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie has changed in terms of its actions,” says Tomasz Kobierski, Vice President of the Board, to Newseria Biznes information agency. Apart from organizing the fair, we are the greatest congress center in Poland; 2,200 congresses and conferences annually, including very large ones like those related to the widely understood medical and automotive branches.

Nanotechnology discussed by internationals

Meetings with world’s greatest scientists, the presentation of Polish and international achievements in terms of nanotechnology, an exchange of experience, and an integration of a scientific environment are the main ideas behind the 7th National Conference of Nanotechnology, which will be held on 25-27 June in the congress center of Poznań International Fair. The main objective of the conference is to create a large-scale, national platform, where it is possible to present the results and exchange experience in the scientific environment, connected with nanoscience, nanotechnology, and active industry participation. The theme of the conference goes down to three panels of topics which encompass nanoelectronics, nanomedicine, and biotechnology, as well as some aspects related to nanomaterials and nanostructure application. The conference will be started by plenary lectures, which we invited a few dozen of lecturers from around the world to, who willingly accepted the invitations. They include a Nobel prize laureate Professor Ada Yonath from the Institute of Weizmann Science in terms of chemistry, Professor Roland Wiesendanger from Hamburg University, Professor Krzysztof Matyjaszewski from Carnagie Mellon University, Professor Jan Misiwicz from Wrocław University of Technology, Professor Ryszard Słomski from Poznań University of Life Science, and Professor Sylwester Porowski from the Institute of High Pressures PAN in Warsaw.
