In December, The Argyle High School Band had 50 students who auditioned, made, and performed in the ATSSB Region 2 Band. Argyle represented more than a third of the ensemble. These students are the best high school musicians across the Northern DFW area. Premier conductors from around the State of Texas worked with these students in early January to prepare a concert on Jan. 14. It was a special clinic and concert for these students.

Of the 50 musicians that made the All-Region Band in December, 29 students advanced to the area round on Jan. 8. Congratulations!! ATSSB All-State Band Students

Beginning in December, thousands of students across the State of Texas audition for placement in the All-State Band. Less than 2% made the ensemble. Argyle high school had 8 students selected to the All-State Ensemble. These students will represent Argyle ISD and North Texas at the All-State Clinic and Concert in San Antonio, Feb. 9-12. Please congratulate the following members on their success:

Argyle High School Winterguard

The Argyle High School Winter Color Guard is currently competing in the North Texas Colorguard Association Circuit and the Winter Guard International Circuit. They will have their first competition on Feb. 5 and will have several competitions throughout the spring. Please see them perform their production “Radio Star” at one of their upcoming contests.

Argyle MS Colorguard

The Argyle Middle School Colorguard started their indoor competition season featuring their program “To Touch the Sky.” These students meet once a week and learn dance, along with flag choreography! This activity is open to all students at Argyle Middle School! Should have any questions about Colorguard, please email Mr. Newill (cody.pavlusnewill@argyleisd.com).

Argyle Students Make All-Region Band

Students in the Argyle Middle School Honor Winds auditioned for the TMEA Region 2 Band and had an excellent showing. Competing against the best students in the state from Lewisville, Denton, Northwest, and Lake Dallas ISDs, there were 30 students who earned a spot in this prestigious ensemble.

The Argyle Middle School Symphonic Band also had a great showing at this year’s ATSSB Region 2 Auditions. Students from smaller schools around the area auditioned for 114 spots in the All-Region Band.

Out of the 114 available spots, 37 students made the band. This is an outstanding accomplishment and is a testament to their hard work and long-term dedication to a goal. We are super proud of every student involved!

Winter Concert a Huge Success

The Argyle Middle School band ended 2021 with a holiday celebration like no other! Playing for a packed house of parents, friends, and family, the Winter Concert was a huge success, first featuring the Beginner Band, followed by Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Honor Winds.

The AMS Beginner Band gave an amazing concert having had only a limited amount of instruction. Four months ago, these students knew nothing about their instruments but they managed to complete their semester with a full concert which was remarkable!

Each band had a selection of holiday music to entertain the crowd at the Argyle MS Auditorium. As is tradition with band concerts, students introduced the songs, giving a brief history of each song as well as instruction for the audience to listen for certain special musical selections!

Members of the Argyle Middle School Band traveled to the Intermediate school to spread holiday cheer and perform for the 5th-grade students! Each section in the band demonstrated how their instrument sounds and looks, to give the 5th-grade students an idea of what instrument they wanted to play! These 5th-grade students will get to try the different instruments themselves as they begin their career in band going into 6th grade!
