HILLTOP Elementary Principal
We have definitely been busy at Hilltop Elementary during this middle part of the year. I hope you enjoy these pictures highlighting some of the happenings along with this recap.

In the fall, one of the first exciting events was during Red Ribbon week we had a DEA visit including a helicopter landing. For Veterans Day our students were able to meet a canine vet that was retired from a long military career. We had a Literacy Night that included opportunities to get excited about reading and even some multicultural dance lessons.
This spring we will have the counterpart to that event called STEM night to create excitement about those subjects also. We have celebrated our character award winners every quarter with an awards assembly where parents can come and see their students receive the award. We will continue to have those for the last two quarters this spring. Second-grade was the first grade level to do their field trip in the fall this year. Other grade levels will be coming up so stay tuned to your child’s homeroom newsletters for more information on those. PTA has kicked off two very successful clubs, Lego Club and Book Club, so we have those meetings regularly. We also have a 4thgrade choir that has been and will continue to meet.
To end the first semester we had our first Hilltop Holiday Fest which gave students and parents a chance to go through three rotations to have a peek into what their students do here at school. During this event, we were able to have an art show to show off some of our student’s creations. We will have another event called the Spring Hilltop Fest in April and we have some interactive activities planned for families during the three rotations for that evening. We can’t wait to see all our families here for that event.
Since we’ve returned from the holiday break we’ve had some of our students participate in the UIL meet and we are very proud of the hard work put in by them and their coaches. Chess Club has started up for the year also.
So, do we have a lot going on? Yes, and we love it. We love to see the kids learning daily in our normal routines, but are so happy to be back to get to do some of these celebrations and group activities.
We look forward to continuing to see you volunteering, at lunch, at drop-off, and at events. I can’t say it enough times - It’s a great day on the hill!
