We have started 2022 with a lot to celebrate at Argyle Intermediate! In January, the fifthgrade students had a chance to show what they know at the UIL competition hosted at AIS. Students competed in 11 different areas and brought home team wins in seven of the contests. This is great preparation for our students in the years to come. It was a day full of smiles, good sportsmanship, and best efforts. We are very proud of their success, but we are more proud of their perseverance during preparation. They placed high expectations on themselves and worked hard to achieve their goals.

Students were also celebrated during the awards ceremony held after the winter break. Students received certificates for A honor roll, A/B honor roll, and perfect attendance. Parents attended and we broadcasted the event on our school Facebook page. We love including our families in school events. Families were also invited to attend an ESL (English as a Second Language) Family Engagement Event. Parents had the chance to get to know each other and make connections. Our ESL teachers provided excellent resources on how parents can best assist their student’s academic, social, and linguistic development.

Another way we include parents is through the Watch Dog dad program. We have had many dads spend the day on campus serving as positive role models and making connections with kids. You may find us recruiting dads in the car pick-up line! Having dads at school provides an additional sense of security to the students. Dads gain a greater awareness of how they can impact their student’s life in academics, proper self-esteem, and social behavior. Plus, dads are just more fun on the playground!

We also had our first College and Career Week. Our guest speakers were curtailed due to the school closure, but students still learned a lot all week about preparing for success in their future. Students learned important terms such as major/minor, scholarships, and college entrance exams. In elementary, we never pass up a chance for dress-up days. You probably spotted us decked out in our favorite college attire!

At AIS, We Achieve, Inspire & Soar!

We finished the first semester with some fun activities and competitive events such as a Gingerbread House Contest, Turkey Feather Door Contest, and Texas Arbor Day Art Contest. Our students’ talents never cease to amaze us! We continued our celebration of Texas Arbor Day with a speaker from BPS Technology teaching us the importance of trees and having a tree-planting ceremony hosted by the Mayor of Argyle.

This year has continued to present new challenges for our school, district, and community, but this has not affected the enthusiasm and achievement of our students. Students are excited to come to school every day. Parents often mention how eager their child is to come to school and what a happy place AIS is for their child. Our goal as a school community is to celebrate the growth and success of our students while providing a safe and comfortable environment. Every child is important at AIS and we live that through the decisions we make every day.

Thank you for all the support we receive from the parents and the community to make this place amazing!
