Brothers and sisters, journalism is a vocation more than a profession. And as a vocation, we don’t pursue it for personal aggrandisement, but rather for the purposes and ideals for which journalism stands for. This is a very challenging time for journalism, particularly community newspapering, and you and I know why. But I tell you this, community newspapering is as important as it was before there was internet. Ethnic communities are the cradles of our democracy. And democracy cannot thrive on barren hearts and minds. Your community newspapers, not only inform the public about you, but as well as hold you up and present you beautifully to the society at large.
